Viewing artwork in cover flow view...

I seem to be one of the few users of iTunes that is truly delighted with the latest release, albeit starting afresh with 7.0.1 on a new installation of OSX. That said, I find that in the cover flow view artwork downloaded from the iTunes store displays more much more quickly than the scans of covers I have added manually. At first I thought that this might be because of the higher resolution images I was using, but when scrolling I find that my scans do not show until I release the mouse whereas iTunes images display fluently at all times. A small, but irritating cosmetic point, but perhaps there is a solution...?

Not yet. I experience the same thing. Your "manual" artwork is imbedded into the song file. The new Apple artwork is retained in a separate folder in the iTunes folder. There must be a lag accessing the former, hence the artwork not immediately appearing. Remains to be seen whether Apple addresses this.
I too like iTunes 7. Seems much more organized/functional.

First of all: please excuse me for my english; it's not my native language.
After updating to iOS 4.3 (Mac OS X 10.6.6; iTunes 10.4), I had some problem with some artworks, so I removed and added all my music to my iPhone 4. Suddenly, all the artworks in Cover Flow has a thin (or thick, depending on the form of the picture), black border around them. In "Now playing mode", artwork also looks like they are in low resolution – even if they aren't.
Anyone familiar with this problem? Can I fix it, or will it be addressed and fixed with an upgrade?

I got the same issue. it didnt used to have this before. now all the new albums have them. how can we fix it?

Artwork in Cover flow not matching artwork in tab?

Ok, example - I’ve got 5 tunes from the same artist. All have different artwork that is displayed correctly in the artwork tab but in cover flow it just uses the same cover for all 4 tracks. Is there anything I can do about it so that cover flow displays artwork correctly?
I’ve tried removing the artwork but it just removes the artork from the tab and leaves an image in cover flow.
So removed the track from iTunes - put it back in and added the correct artwork and cover flow still puts in the same artwork!?

I’ve sorted it. I clicked on the info tab and it shows each of the tracks as being part of a compliation - I just un-ticked the box and the artowrk now displays correctly

Artwork in Cover Flow is blurry

For some reason the album covers in the cover flow view are very blurry. I realize that it gets less sharp as you make the image larger, however when I click on the album cover in the lower left hand corner, and make it the same exact size as the artwork in the cover flow, the image from the bottom left corner is noticeably sharper. Anyone have any ideas?

What do you with songs that dont have Album Artwork? Cover flow.

I have a live concert recording from my favorite band from 2 years ago. obviously since its a live recording, there is no album artwork for it but i use cover flow, which i love.
if i dont have album artwork for even this live recording then it defeats the purpose of having cover flow. so what do i do?

Find a suitable image and add that as an illustration in the absence of an actual album cover. Just add add the image manually to the tracks you want: Adding Album Cover Art or Images in iTunes

Can't see Artwork when in 'cover flow'

Hello
I can see my ablum artwork when playing songs in the 'Now playing' box. However I can no longer view artwork under 'cover flow' option. Instead I just get a black background and in white lettering I get this..
"iTunes is unable to browse Album Covers".
I have uninstalled & re-installed the latest itunes for windows on apple website but makes no difference. The pics show up in 'Album grid' but I don't like this view. Can anyone help?

Thanks to a post 'Dave Sawyer' left on a different topic I have now managed to solve this. under dxdiag 'Directdraw Acclerator' was disabled. I enabled it and all back to normal

Cover Flow Artwork for Albums is Dysfunctional

Artwork on Cover Flow view displays as a jumbled plaid-like distorted picture. I tried reinstalling and repairing, but that has not solved the issue. Anyone know of a fix for this? Running on Windows XP.

I've had this problem for a while now & finally figured out is was a problem with a driver, that I'd updated.
My graphics are controlled by an SiS Mirage Graphics chipset and when I update the driver it screws up cover view. I rolled back the driver and that fixed it.
Driver that works okay is 6.14.10.3830.

Cover flow / album artwork

i cannot sync my album artwork or cover flow from itunes to my itouch. any ideas? do i need to re install all my songs and stuff to get it from itunes? thanks!

Well, first make sure that you enable your iPod to sync Music. Then, get a picture of the album art you want. Right click and "copy image". Then open up iTunes and right click on the song you want to put the album art on. Then, click "get info" . There are tabs at the top. Click on "artwork". Right click in the white space and press "paste". If there's already a picture that you dont want, you can click on it and press the delete button. You can also click "add" to add a album artwork picture.

Using Cover Flow from 1 Mac on another.

I'm putting together a music server using my Mini. The idea is to allow the other Macs on the network to access this one computer for all of the recorded music in the Mini's library. I am doing this successfully, but for two things that have to do with Album artwork and Cover Flow when running through iTunes.
When connected to the shared iTunes folder, all of the options in the VIEW menu are grayed out — all that's available is List View. It would be great to be able to change the view to Cover Flow so that users could view the cover art just as you can from the host computer. I've gone through all of the preference panels but haven't found anything that looks like it would accomplish this. Am I missing something? Would netTunes do this for me?
Likewise, when using Front Row to access the shared music folder, none of the artwork is present. Any way to see the art in Front Row?

Cover Flow sorting question

I have several seasons of different shows in my iTunes TV library. Even though each season has it's own artwork (Season 1, Season 2, etc.) the entire show's episodes show up in Cover Flow as 1 image - usually from the last season I imported.
Example: I have seasons 1 through 3 of West Wing in my library. But in cover flow view, when sorted by show, all three seasons show up as 1 image and it's the Season 3 cover art.
How do I get each season to show up as separate images with their own respective artwork in Cover Flow? I've filled in all the correct metadata and each episode and season are labeled correctly.

I would also like to know about this. I have an entire series of one show and I would like them sorted together as one whole show, rather than separated by each season.

Cover Flow image different from

Most of the time, the album artwork in Cover Flow is identical to that on the thumbnail image in the bottom left corner of my screen (sorry - don't know the correct term for it). However, on occasional tracks they're different.
I think I know why, but don't know what to do about it...
I have a huge collection of old singles that I digitised. There being no album title, I created one called Singles and it keeps them all together. The thumbnail image always varies with the track but the Cover Flow image only displays the artwork of the first track by that particular artist (so for example, the Cover Flow artwork for all Elvis Presley singles is the same, and it's the first one in the list).
I'd be grateful for any ideas for how I can correct this?

Well, I'd have to set something up like that to check....but I don't have a bunch of singles hanging around.
The closest I have to it is Tori Amos' +Strange Little Girls+. Each track has a different picture on the actual CD, so I scanned those in.
Cover flow shows the artwork from track 1. The other tracks only show their specific artwork when they are selected, and only becaue I went to the artwork tab and dragged around the images so the one I wanted was first in thebox.

Cover flow for playlists

While listening to playlists in cover flow mode on the iPhone, it actually shows the album artwork of all the music on the iPhone rather than only those from the playlist. I was expecting to see only the album artwork of the albums/songs in the playlist similar to what iTunes does on the mac. Is there any setting on the iPhone to configure it to show only the playlist artwork in cover flow mode? Thanks.

I just submitted a suggestion to Apple for a 'smart' Cover Flow which would restrict the displayed albums to the artist/genre/playlist being browsed when the iPhone/Touch is turned landscape.

Cover flow probs

I have read all I can find...no luck fixing my prob.
The artwork on cover flow is all distorted.... I up graded all my drivers and directX stuff... then the bad artwork tuned into the "iTunes is unable to browse album covers on this computer"
So i rolled back the drivers and have the distorted art work again!
anyone got any new and great fixes??
I have Matrox’s Millennium G450 DualHead card.
Acceleration is maxed, and all the direct X settings are correct(i think)

I have the exact same challenge...Matrox Mil G550 Dual Head...accleration maxed, directX checked, upgraded driver which took me from completely distorted artwork (only on cover flow) to "iTunes is unable to browse album covers on this computer". Help.

Cover flow still crashes after updating to ios 5.0.1!

I know that many people had the cover flow bug that was crashing everytime, in my case after updating it to ios 5.0.1 it still happens! i wanted to know if to other users happen the same or if the issue was solved

ITunes 7.3.2: ArtWork does not match Images on Cover Flow View and iPod

Hello everyone, this is my first post, thanks in advance for any and all help.
I have loaded most of my music collection onto iTunes, and authorized it to get album artwork. It has only found about 60% of my cover art (I have a lot of international discs, etc.), and of what it does find maybe 60% is correct. So I have spent a lot of time adding artwork by either scanning in cover art or cutting and pasting from the web. I go to "Get Info" and check the artwork tab all the time to make sure that only artwork that is correct or that I have added is attached to each of my song files.
However, I have noticed that there is a significant amount of my song files that, when I use cover flow view, or when I play the songs on my video iPod, the artwork that is on the artwork pane and what appears on the cover flow view don't match. Or the artwork that is in the artwork pane (and the only artwork in the get info artwork section) and what shows up on my iPod, don't match up. It is, for an OCD completist like me, rather annoying.
As an example, I have a lot of compilation albums. I have probably 13 different albums by different artists but which all have the same name of "The Ultimate Collection". There are some tracks for each album where the artwork pane and the cover flow view artwork match, but not all of the tracks.
I selected "group compilations when browsing", but that doesn't help. I selected all the tracks from the same album and clicked yes to whether it is a compilation, and that didn't work.
Does anyone have a simple, QUICK solution for making the artwork I have put in the artwork pane override or force itself on the cover flow view? Horrible phrasing I know, but thank you in advance for your help!

I had the same problem when I updated to 7.3, but I was able to fix it.
As far as I can tell, itunes 7.3 sees all music files (in your user/itunes/music folder) with the extension .mpg as quicktime movies, not mp3's and itunes won't let you add a cover to them. The problem is that songs imported as mp3's by previous versions of iTunes were all given the extension .mpg and not .mp3 (at least on my machine). I was able to fix the problem by simply changing the .mpg to .mp3 for all of my songs. As soon as I did this, the album artwork showed up again.
You have a few options for how you change the extension. You can right click on every file in your itunes library and select "Show In Finder" to change the file extension, or if you have many songs to fix (I had 793) you can download 'A Better Finder Rename' (search for it at www.versiontracker.com, it costs $20 to change more than 10 files at a time) which will make the changes automatically. If you are cheap you can always set up an automator work-flow to get the job done.
