Viewing images in Bridge CS4

I have recently reloaded CS4 on a new computer.  Image preview not working in Bridge CS4 - shows only CR2 file icon instead of image.  How do I get my image preview back?

Update Camera Raw.

  • Viewing images  using Bridge.

I am unable to view images directly from CF card using Bridge.     The camera files simply show as graphic icons.  I have not had this problem before.  Is there a setting I need to adjust ?

You probably have not the correct ACR version to match your Raw files from your digital camera, check this out:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html
And in general is it not the best idea to view the files directly from the card in Bridge, it is preferred to use Adobe Photo downloader or drag and drop the files from card to computer and then view the files.
Changes are when you view them directly from card you start deleting or rating etc and writing / deleting to and from a CF card other then using the In-Camera software can lead to very unwanted behavior or failure.

  • Viewing images via Bridge CS3

I usually adjust images in Aperture but have just begun to use the Raw converter within CS3 for a few files. I can export master files onto my desktop and dbl click to open the NEF file, however, this seems very clumsy. I know you can access the RAW images via Bridge CS3 but when I try to access all I get is the aperture library white icon (looks like a fridge?!) but when I ask to display contents it seems to be locked - my aperture library is situated in Pictures - but this still does not allow access - anyone know - thanks to anyone who does !

thank you - yes, I agree I would prefer to not bother with Bridge, but when I "Open With" which I had defaulted to PSCS3, this opens fine, but the master file opens in tif or psd depending on what I need, and then of course the ACR dosn't open- I think I may be thrown a bit here by your comment on "referenced" master files - but however, at least I do follow you clearly on the tif/jpeg import concerning reflection of changes - really appreciate your time!

  • Cannot View Images in Bridge, only CR2 icons show

In Bridge,CS3, After I open the folder I want, all I see is the orange colored Icons (CR2)of my raw Images. If I click on a given Icon the image comes up, but it is not possible to review(SEE)all the images at the same time , which I could do in CS2, once I opened a given folder.

The second thing to try isn't "destructive". It is to verify that Photoshop is the application associated with your CR2 files. To do this in MS Windows:
    1) Open an Explorer window (My Documents, etc.)
    2) Select menu Tools => Folder Options
    3) Select the File Types tab.
    4) Scroll down to the CR2 file type, and select it. (Is it really .CR2?)
    5) In the panel at the bottom should be "Opens with Adobe Photoshop". If not:
5.1) Click the Change button and select Photoshop from the resulting application list.
5.2) If Photoshop isn't listed, click the Browse button and browse to the folder where Photoshop is installed. It may be C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3.
If the above doesn't help, the third thing to try will remove your Bridge preferences, which obviously deletes any preferences you have set. See the FAQs for specific instructions, which are:
    1) Hold down Ctrl+Shift+Alt keys (and keep holding them throughout this process.)
    2) Start Bridge. This may not work from QuickLaunch panel or the Recent Application List. It's best to select Start => All Programs => Adobe CS3 => Bridge. (which might vary on your computer)
    3) AFTER the 3-option Reset Preferences dialog appears, you can finally release the Ctrl+Shift+Alt keys you've been holding down.
    4) There are three options of which preferences to reset. I ALWAYS try the least destructive first (purge all cache), but I have NEVER had satisfactory results without turning on all three checkboxes.

  • Organizing Images with Bridge CS4

Since I am new to Bridge, I would appreciate some advice from you veterans. For now, I have decided to locate my images in various sub-folders in the Pictures folder ( located in my Home folder). For those images that I choose to save both the Raw file along with the edited .tif or .jpeg file, is there a way to "stack" the Raw file & the edited file to reduce clutter?
Thank you for any help & suggestions.

  • Adobe Bridge CS4 will not launch ACR

I'm getting this message when trying to open an image from Bridge CS4 in ACR,
"Camera raw requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature"
Any ideas how to cure this, I've downloaded the update 5.2.2., what is the correct location for this? Automatic update is just opening a box withe file in and I cant find the previous.
By the way ACR opens fine from Photoshop CS4.
    Thanks

    Philip:
This has been discussed in the Camera Raw Forum: you may need to install the new ACR 5.2 plug-in in the correct place manually.

  • Bridge CS4 won't open to Photoshop CS5 out of Camera Raw?

I use Bridge CS4 because I prefer it to bridge CS5 but when I edit images in ACR in bridge cs4 and click 'Open Image' I want it to open automatically in PS CS5 and instead it opens always into PS CS4.  In preferences>file type associations, everything is set to CS5 so I don't know how to direct opening images from ACR to open in photoshop CS5 not CS4.  I've had it working on a different system but I don't remember what I did to get it to work.

Uh huh...and why would you expect CS5 to open the image from Bridge CS4? You haven't stated why you are trying to use Bridge CS4, but as you've found out, that is not an optimal solution....(BTW, troubleshooting 101 dictates that you at least mention what platform and OS you are using).

  • How to view individual art board in Bridge CS4?

    Hi.
Can somebody tell me how to configure the Adobe Bridge CS4 so that it shows/views/displays individual art boards (that I can scroll thru) and NOT the whole *.ai file (which contains ALL the art boards)?
I want to preview the individual art boards as a larger image, and when they all appear together in the *.ai file, they appear smaller.
At the bottom of this page:
    http://www.adobe.com/designcenter/illustrator/articles/lrvid4016_ai.html
    it says;
"To view documents, open Adobe Bridge and select an Illustrator document from the Content panel. A larger view of the document appears in the Preview panel located to the right of the Content panel. When viewing an Illustrator file with multiple artboards, click the right-facing arrow below the preview to display each of the artboards."
I do not have this arrow, so therefore no option. On my bridge, all artboards appear together. How do I separate them and get the arrow he is talking about?
    TIA.

Interesting, looks like you also need to save the file with Create PDF Compatible File checked in the Illustrator options dialog when saving - the sample files were saved without PDF compatibility, so no individual artboard preview.
I resaved the sample file In the Cradle of the Deep with Create PDF Compatible File checked, and it shows the artboard previews individually.

  • Can't view raw files in Adobe Bridge CS4

    Hi,
I bought a new iMac OS X version 10.8.5 . I have a Canon 5d Mark ii and I shoot in RAW. I installed CS4.. I also downloaded the newest version of the camera raw plug-in (5.7). I placed the plug-in in applications--> adobe photoshop CS4 -->plug-ins--> file formats.
In Bridge, I can only view the grey thumbnail that says CR2. I can click on it and it'll open up into camera raw where I can edit some and then open it into photoshop. I want to be able to view the images in bridge to know which ones I want to open up in camera raw. Also, when I right click on the thumbnail there isn't an option that says "open in camera raw".
Should I also place the camera raw plug-in in the applications-->Adobe Bridge-->plug-ins?
When I click on about plug-ins on photoshop, it's showing me 2 camera raw plug-ins.. version 5.0 and version 5.7. I can't find 5.0 to delete?
    Thanks

If you just go to Help>Updates, Bridge should take care of this for you, unless you've managed to get multiple copies of the plug-in into the folder. If you manually installed things, check to see that there is only one plug-in there, then let Bridge do it for you.

  • Soft images in Bridge/ PS CS4

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone here who uses PS CS4 & Bridge can help me with an issue that has been bugging me for a while. I am at the point where I am considering selling my gear and reinvesting in something else, both in terms of software and hardware.
I shoot with a Sony A700 and a number of lenses (nifty fifty, sigma 24-70 DG HSM, Tamron 90mm 2.8) and have noticed that no matter what I shoot the images look a lot bright, softer and fuzzy when i get them onto the PC (even considering that the pc screen is so much bigger than the a700's screen).
I have noticed that when I view the images in Bridge, there is a short period of time before bridge has loaded all the images that the image thumbnails themselves appear nice and sharp (as i see them on the cameras screen), then a split second later they are changed so that they all look brighter and a lot softer. If I "purge cache for selection" then the thumbnail appears nice and sharp again. Then when I open the image - which takes me to ACR in photoshop the nasty processing is reapplied.
Is bridge applying some kind of processing or profile to all the images before i even get round to processing them myself? It is ruining my pictures and I am at my wits end with it.When the images are opened in ACR the brightness has been ramped up (although i cant remember the exact settings that are listed as i am at work and my pc is at home), and changing the settings to "As shot" makes no difference at all.
What am I missing? What settings are being applied by the software (this also happens when i load the images straight from CS4 and cut out Bridge altogether) that makes the images look so much worse than they should? I'm fed up with the images loading all soft and a fair bit brighter than they should be. Trying to manually get the images back to where they should be in terms of clarity and brightness/ contrast has so far proved to be impossible, for me at least. And besides, I shouldnt need to be doing this in the first place!
I should also note that I am obviously talking about RAW images and not JPEGS!
Look forward to any suggestions as to what is going on??!

What you are seeing here is the processing, or lack of processing, of the Raw image.  Raw is just that it is unprocessed.  The image you see on the camera and for a brief instant in Bridge is the jpeg image (embedded thumbnail) the camera generates.
The is a lot of stuff in ACR that could affect this, and I am no expert.  I recommend you copy and post this question in the camera raw forum.  http://forums.adobe.com/community/cameraraw?view=discussions
When you get a concise answer that gets you sharp images please post it here so others that come across this thread can benefit.
Message was edited by: Curt Y  Shooting Raw is not for everybody as it does take more effort to process than a jpeg.  Just depends on the subject matter, what you want to do with final picture,  and how much you like to tinker with the image.  If you find you like the pictures as shot, then use Raw only for tricky exposure shots that might require more manipulation to get a good image.

  • Anyone see changes in images when making a web gallery through Adobe Bridge cs4??? Please Help!

When creating web galleries through adobe bridge CS4 the final gallery images become very orange.....
Not even comparable to what we are  seeing in Bridge or Photoshop CS4....
Adobe tells me that this is happening because of the conversion for web use.
We are just noticing this change now and feel that there is a problem somewhere.....
Has anyone else seen this issue or now anything to do to get it fixed???
    It's really annoying, Please Help!!!

You probably want to ask this in the Bridge forum. From what I know, Bridge converts the profile to sRGB which helps avoids big color shifts if you view the images in an uncolormanaged web browser. This may change the appearance slightly, but there shouldn't be a huge shift.

  • Bridge CS4 image Previews are too small

In Bridge CS4 I cannot get the preview images to display anything larger than a large thumbnail view, see image below.  I have tried all of the Preferences in Edit menu (e.g. Thumbnail: do not process files larger than set to 10,000 MB, cache options are keep 100% previews in cache checked/automatically export cache to folders when possible checked/cache size slider is set to 50%, software render has been checked/unchecked/generate monitor size previews checked).  None of these options change anything for the size of the image preview.  I have a DX10.1 ATI Radeon HD4890 XOC 1GB, so my video card is not the issue.  I am running Windows 7 Ult x64 on ASUS P8P67 Deluxe with 16GB RAM and over 2 TB of HDD space. So my system should not be an issue either.  These are Sample artwork images that were installed with Illustrator cs4.  How do i increase the size of these images?
Also, these images are showing everything in the ai image, not the individual images in each ai file.  How do i get it to show the individual images in each AI file like they were separate images, like Illustrator?

Actually, you just solved both of my problems with your question.  I never thought about how the images were created/saved.
It turns out that for some reason when i re-save the images as version CS4 of course and all options selected in dialog box now the images act correctly and resize accordingly when the separator is moved and will get quite large as they should.
I also had to use my mouse and select each artboard/image inside the file then re-saved with same settings as above to get multiple images to show up with the buttons at bottom of image in preview mode.  Now all is good.
These are the default installed sample artwork images.  Not sure why they were like this, may have been some kind of format/process error. Thanks a lot Curt Y.

  • Bridge CS4 has LONG delay in opening the first image

Photoshop CS4 upgrade was my Christmas present this year. I've been fighting this annoying "problem" ever since then...
I DO see this "problem" on my desktop PC, which is a Dell XPS-400 PC (with 2 GB of memory) running Windows XP (Media Center Edition) with SP3 installed. I DO NOT see this "problem" on my laptop, which is a Dell XPS-1530 (4 GB of memory) running Windows Vista SP1. I installed the Photoshop CS4 software exactly the same way on both machines, and I have the preferences set the same in both Photoshop and Bridge (and Camera Raw) on both machines.
Here's the situation: I first open Photoshop CS4 and then click on the Bridge icon in the Application Bar to open Bridge. When I use Bridge to open a photo, by either double-clicking the thumbnail, or right-clicking on the thumbnail and choose "Open" from the context menu, there is a 42 second delay before Photoshop opens the file. This long delay only occurs when opening the very first file.
Once that first image file is opened, double-clicking any thumbnail in Bridge will have it open in Photoshop CS4 in about 2 seconds. There will never be another long delay in having Bridge pass a file to Photoshop (or Camera Raw) again - until I close the applications and restart them. Once I restart the applications, the first photo takes 42 seconds to open....
This delay does not occur in opening the first image file if I right-click on the thumbnail in Bridge CS4 and choose "Open With" and manually choose Photoshop CS4.
Even if that is how I open the first (or several) image file(s), the first time I try to open a file from Bridge by double-clicking on a thumbnail (or right-click on a thumbnail and choose "Open") there will be that annoying 42 second delay before it opens.
It does not matter what the file format the first image file is (JPG, PSD, TIFF, or DNG), or what the file format of any subsequent image file is. As long as I do not close the Bridge and Photoshop applications, any subsequent file will be passed from Bridge to Photoshop in only a couple of seconds.
I have manually set the File Name Extensions in Windows XP, and in the Preferences in Bridge. Both have been set to open the file types listed above with Photoshop CS4.
I have uninstalled CS4, and have used two seperate Registry cleaners (CCleaner and jv16 Power Tools) before re-installing Photoshop CS4. This had no effect on this situation. I've run "chkdsk C: /r" several times, with no problems reported.
I have been searching through these forums for over 2 weeks now, and I have not seen anyone else report such a problem. I use my XP desktop much more than my Vista laptop, so I'd really like to fix this situation, but I don't know what else to try.
    Gregg Mack

    Don,
Thanks for all of your suggestions. I tried them all, but the problem remains exactly as it was. To properly document my efforts:
In Bridge's Preferences, I Purged and Compacted the Bridge Cache, then changed it's location to D:\Bridge_Cache (D:\ is a second physical internal SATA drive).
I can not tell the exact size the Cache is set to, but the slider in Bridge's Preference is very close to the left end (10,000) of the slider.
The Windows Page File is set to 3072 MB min and 4096 max, and it is entirely on the D:\ drive. (I have 2GB of physical RAM in the PC.)
I defragmented the C:\ drive using Diskeeper 2008 Pro Premier, and even ran a Boot Time Defrag.
Rather than set some exclusions for Norton Anti-Virus, I jsut disbled that Virus checking program for all of my experiments.
I deleted the Bridge Preference File by holding down the Ctrl key as Bridge was restarted.
I even deleted the entire contents of the C:\Windows\Prefetch folder. I then rebooted the PC - twice. I then re-disabled Norton Anti-Virus.
The PC is approaching 3 years of age, but it is a 3.2 GHz Pentium D machine with 2 GB of RAM and two internal SATA drives. Every other application that I run on this machine responds reponsively. Again it is only the FIRST image file that I have Bridge hand off to Photoshop (or Camera Raw) that takes forever. The second and subsequent image files take a second or two.... That doesn't sound like it's an "old hardware" problem to me.
I'm willing to try anything else that you, or anyone else would like to suggest.
    Thanks
    Gregg Mack

  • Can I make a collection of images from a data DVD in Bridge CS4?

Hello, anyone know if it's possible in Bridge CS4 to catalog a DVD as a collection? I can't figure out if it can be done. I've got several thousand images backed up to DVD and CD which in the past I've cataloged using other software but I'd like to do it in Bridge. I know it can be done in Lightroom quite easily.
    Thanks for any advice,
    Geoff.

target needs to be owned by runtime()till R1 or control center(r2). in your case you dont need to create as source, you can register as another one target and a new module (target), that will resolve your case
