Virus TI au and vst plugin in logic 8

i've seen two cases where it causes massive crashes and lock ups. i hope access and apple fix this ASAP. it's really ******* my friends off...

With the 2.5 beta my Virus TI behaves like that in Logic 7.2 aswell, so I'm afraid this is not a problem for Apple to fix, rather Access Music.
The 2.5 beta update have helped in alot of areas, but it still freezes my computer up from time to time when launching the plugin.

  • Ableton Live and VST plugins with XP (Through Boot Camp) on a MAC Pro?

I am completely lost when it comes to macs, i am considering buying a mac pro with leopard but i have literally thousands of pounds worth of music production software (ableton live 6, reason 4 vst's etc etc) on my pc that i want to use in xp on a mac pro. Will all software like this run identically the same as it would on my pc that i have at the moment? I don't want to fork out this large and excessive amount of money again for this software. My pc is far too slow for the heights i'm getting to and also keeps crashing which is super annoying! Any help would be awesome, many thanks - Al

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
running Windows through BootCamp on a Mac is like running Windows on any other PC.
The Mac hardware is used natively as long as there are all needed drivers installed.
Aplle provides all needed drivers together with BootCamp.
However, given the fact that the Mac Pro uses 'Workstation'-like Hardware (mainboard, CPU, RAM) it is always possible that a certain program will not run, especially when it needs some kind of Protection-Dongle.
And these dongles have to be USB-ones, because a MAc Pro don't have Parallel or Seriell-Ports.
And you should use either XP Pro with SP2 or at least Vista Business to utilize all of the four-cores of the two CPUs.
The Home versions of Windows can only use two-cores (one CPU).
Personally I would say that you won't have any difficulties, but I don't have/use the programs you mentioned.
    Regards

  • Need help with Java MIDI and VST info

I am currently a college student for programming and I know programming very well, but for this current task, I am completely stuck. This is not a school project or work, just a personal project I'm working on at the moment to learn more about Java.
What I am trying to create is a VST (Virtual Studio Synthesizer) using Java for use in music programs such as FL Studio, Sonar, Ableton, and so on. I did alot of Googling and found the following program:
I got it working, but it's not quite what I am looking for (it's more like an on-site editor that you enter code into and then run it). I want to create a VST from scratch and learn what each thing means in the program. I've done some research on MIDI input and output and found the following in the Java documentation:
I figured I'm on track of what I'm looking for, but the problem is that the Java documentation simply sucks. It has no examples of code, how the functions work, and how I'm suppose to use them.
First off, I want to start with the extreme bare basics. Is it even possible to do a VST in JUST Java? I've seen and used examples of obtaining data from a MIDI file and playing it, but that's not what I'm trying to do. Second, how would I take MIDI data from a music program running the VST and enter the data into a text box? Once I'm able to do that, I should be able to work with the data to produce audio output.
My program I am attempting to make is a guitar synthesizer that I can run in music programs as a VST. If anyone around here knows anything about MIDI and VST plugins, please, post some example code and help point me in the right direction to creating something. I'm not looking to use other people's programs or code, I want to make something myself from scratch but I don't know where to start!

  • Using VST plugins and ASIO for everything?

Just a thought. Oh how much I'd like this!
To be able to use universal VST plugins and ASIO for everything directly from Windows would be ideal. To put this simply, making the Creative Windows "mixer" a true equivelent of a pro-software mixing app (Ableton, ProTools, Sonar, Cubase, or any other) in terms of absolute control for all Audio effects and I/O.
If Creative won't ever do this even on their next gen cards, somebody or some company that knows a decent mixer setup should write such a replacement mixer soon offered at a fair price (if not free) that will do so with easy, complete, reliable integration.
    Long and specific
    VST related:
    - Use X-Ram to cache inserted VST plugins. Now theres a potential great reason for it since it obviously doesnt use any to cache the I/O bus like ALL OTHER periphials that have Ram caches. Its use is dictated by software, so why not?
    - Allow setting some tiny but likely necessary amount of X-Ram as an additional plugin audio I/O buffer. This should be much less than what mixing software needs for this setting since that would all have to pass the CPU.
    - Use Creative's processing hardware directly instead of the CPU so VST plugins won't increase CPU usage (within reason of course).
    - Yield overhead when using lots or higher-demand plugins if set in bit-match mode. Why waste all that power for SRC when Voxengo R8Brain or plenty of other pro software can do that a million times better and way faster in non-real-time? OK, only Creative could work this one in.
    - Why VST plugins? I'd trust my favorite EQ, digital limiter or whatever that has 64-bit float internal precision and oversampling vs. a 24-bit (rounding-error heaven) with no oversampling like the built in Creative ones.
    - If Creative has confidence in the quality of their own propriety effects, doesn't have to be VST but simply making them usable as a ReWire bridged devices into most any host with parameter automation controls and all. Obviosly these could have much lower latency than VST that normally relies on CPU processed software code.
    - The only argument against this is that some VST plugins have huge latencies. Optional latency delay to keep tracks
    - Allow Creatives hardware to insert as a ReWire slave or otherwise bridged device to ASIO-based apps so VST's can be outsourced from demanding more CPU when mixing. I could also add MIDI plugin effects as well.
    ASIO related:
    - Allow changing any and all audio I/O routing for individual channels on the fly for Windows and ANY software (not just ASIO compatible stuff). Just like in Ableton, Pro Tools, and every other WELL designed "mixer".
    - Treating XP itself and any software that normally goes through DX/MME/etc to use this ASIO mixer by making it appear as an insert send/return in the mixer so it can get routed and processed individually to my liking.
    - Can insert send/return signals for any DX/MME/etc program to/from any track or #tracks in any combination up to some reasonable limit with pre/post gains. At least several send/returns slots per channel.
    - A game that uses ASIO would be sweet. 0% FPS drop. IMO DX/MME/wave-mapper sound sucks. No control, many wasted CPU cycles, and horrible latency.
    - Ability to save/load PROGRAM-specific routing chains. Having it so simly running a certain program will automatically insert it how/whereever I specified, if not default, with all relevant I/O settings, including plugins and related settings that were put in the insert send/return path series to that program of course.
    - Put real-time SRC, compression encoding/decoding, or any Creative effects as well whereever I want in the signal chain, whether universal to a track I/O or program insert send/return I/O.
    - Ability to record tracks or the master likewise.
    - No digital feedback possible caused by monitering/recording/routing configs that would be possible in any decent mixing software. Surely not ever from a default setting or made sometimes impossible to prevent like on the Audigy series. Well unless I do something stupid that SHOULD cause feedback. Speak of a truly worthless mixer, this BTW is the ONLY reason I couldn't just go the manual route and run my host all the time, forcing ALL sounds through it for real-time playback with my Audigy. I'm assuming XiFi's Audio-Creation Mixer doesn't have this horrible problem.
    - Imagine putting any combination of sounds in 7.1 surround, monitering specific channels to any physical output, or up/downmixing 5.1 as it plays in real-time, etc. any thing like this possible instantly with a few mouse clicks! This would be SO EASY and completely possible to implement, most of the above right onto existing XiFi's as is.
It's not like it would be competing with pro-interface rackmount products so no harm to Creative. I sure as h*ll wouldn't record with any soundcard's analog pre's or unbalanced connections for that matter. Guess I just love the interface and control of a REAL mixer that can do it all.

    cusis wrote:
But would it be possible to somehow use the power of the card to take on some of the load of the cpu, users would surely then see alot more benifits from these cards.
I don't see why this isn't possible with enough X-RAM. Why no host apps support offloading VST plugin cache buffers and rendering threads to it? I'm probly returning my XiFi and sticking with my old Audigy 1 until either I blow it up or Creative makes a REAL upgrade with most the aforementioned features that literally COULD'VE been implemented in XiFi's current hardware.
If they do, they'll have my business and many others I'm pretty sure. Creative, if your listening and you want to like triple your sales - PLEASE get a clue and get the software end right. Microsoft or any audio host software developers, heres your (fat) chance if Creative wont do whats really their responsibility.
If ALL apps were forced to pass through ASIO as I mentioned, this could force all apps and games to use part of X-RAM as an I/O buffer no matter what specific support is. The same way a video card can offload ALL video including Windows, not just when running certain games, or even worse, certain audio apps lol that specifically support video RAM and DX performance controls! That would be the stupidest, most worthless idea and why Video Cards don't waste their hardware this way. And yet this is what XiFi currently does regarding audio. Somebody change this SOON.
This would be SO cheap and easy for Creative toss together and implement and would solve EVERYONE's problems and make ALL games at least get SMOOTH AUDIO. He!! Creative could charge $30 extra for it or just push out a new line of cards and itd still be worth it. Creative, did you read that part? More profit$$$ Like a video card upgrade, I EXPECT a night vs. day improvment but as it stands, XiFi is simply a glorified Audigy that costs more but much LESS likely to work right.
More importantly, its use of ASIO (the real deal) remains no less limited than an old Creative card from way back when. If Creative wants their soundcard to integrate with software better, learn from Nvidia/Ati and deliver the goods as they've done it all along.

  • HT1295 Is it possible to use vst plugins for garageband from an external hard disk? (Without installing to the system hard disk)

    Hi,
I got my MacBook pro 17" installed a 250GB of SSD as a system disk.
And i got 4TB of Thunderbolt External Disk.
The thing that i want is: to use my VST plugins for Garageband or Logic without fulling the system disk. Is it possible use them from an external disk?
    Thnx

    Garageband can't use VST plugins.
If you're talking about AUs: you could try to put an alias into the HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components folder instead of the actual files, and see if GB loads them.

  • OS X 10.5.6 CS4 Premiere Pro CONFLICT with VST plugins? Application CRASH

Hi everybody,<br /><br />just tried to run the trial of premiere cs4. the application crashes on startup without even completing the initialization. instead a bug report comes up while the program scans the installed units / vsts-plugins that are already on my system (MBP 2years old, 4GB RAM). i have several vst-instruments installed for use with logic.<br /><br />what i figured out is: <br /><br />if i move my folder <harddisk>/library/audio/plug-ins/vst - folder (so premiere does not find the vst-plugs) the program works just fine.<br /><br />so my questions:<br />1. can i manually set a different folder for premiere to scan for plugins? o obviously do NOT want to move that folder back and forth every time i switch between premiere and audio-applications<br />2. is there a way to make premiere "understand" my vst-plugs (such as massive etc.)<br /><br />HAS ANY OF YOU EXPERIENCED THE SAME / ANY HINTS?<br /><br />I am really looking forward to your ideas - thank you very much in advance!

    Superb, thanks a lot.
What I addionally tried (and it worked in most of the cases) is to move all vst plugs into a different folder and then replace one by one. the ones who force the crash go to trash (incl. ALL files on your system --> http://www.native-instruments.com/index.php?id=niosxtut2&L=2) and reinstall AFTER CS4 HAS BEEN INSTALLED. obviously the "rank" is important.
my probs are solved, thank you!

  • Use exterior vst instruments in Logic Express 9

From my former PC I installed Cubase Essential5 onto my new iMac and I purchased Logic Express 9 as well. I am trying to find out wether I can use the HALionOne and Synth Prologue vst instruments in Logic Express and how I go about it. I did install a demo version of Musiclab's Realguitar and after checking the Audio Units Manager, installment I was able to open this under Exterior instruments. Does anybody have suggestions?

    Hi
Logic only supports Audio Unit plugins, not VST (or any other type). Install the correct type and you should be good to go.

  • 32-bit plugins in Logic Pro X (for Free)

There's still a few essential plugins many of use which haven't become 64-bit just yet... (e.g. Sylenth).
There are a few ways to run them in a au/vst host and get that into Logic... namely: VEPro and Plogue Bidule. Both of these solutions hit the wallet, so I've found a way to use FREE tools to do much the same thing using Apple's AU Lab and Soundflower.
I've written up a tutorial here:

    Hi, Q
    Go to the Macprovideo site.
When you get the home page loaded, scroll down until you see a section called MPV Hub on the left side of the page. [At present it's under a series of banners for the Logic X Tutorials]
On the right hand side is a heading 1697 Articles with a blue link under saying See All.
Click the link and scroll the first MPV Hub page You'll see the article just after a review of Arturia's Spark LE
    Hope this helps,

  • Why wont my .vst plugins work in cs6 on win 7 pro 64 bit

why wont my .vst plugins work on my new os ,win 7 pro 64 bit, i have cs6 and cc installed, they worked fine when it was on xp pro.. even if it finds them and you can bring them up it crashes cs6, any advice is helpful, thanks!!

    awb5151 wrote:
But i really want them to work in cs6, i heard you have to use j bridge to use .vst's in cc, is this true..
    Yes.
I just dont understand why they wont work in win 7 pro 64 bit , is it an os problem or is it a cs6 problem, when i had cs6 in win xp pro, was it installed as a 32 bit program, if thats the case can i load a 32 bit version of cs6>>>??? thanks!!
It's not the OS - W764Pro can run 32-bit software fine in emulation. Your problem is that there is no 32-bit version of CC. It was widely circulated before release that this was going to be 64-bit only, and that you would need bridging software to run old 32-bit VST plugins.
Apparently, jbridge works fine once you've got it installed and everything in the correct place. I wouldn't know though, because I don't use it - I only use a small number of 64-bit plugins directly. On those few occasions that I want to use a 32-bit plugin, I run it in CS6 Audition (which isn't the CC version, but is 32-bit). So yes, if you have the 32-bit program you can run them in that. Both versions of the software will co-exist quite happily on the same machine, and won't interact at all - except that you have to be careful with your sound device settings.

  • Audiounit/VST plugins not appearing in Premiere Pro CC

    Hi
I recently the purchased the Slate Virtual Bus Compressor plugin bundle and was hoping to use it in Premiere Pro CC on OSX 10.8.4
Currently the plugins will not show at all in Premiere, but do show in Audition. I would have expected that they shared the same engine when it came to scanning and registering VST and Audiounit plugins.
All the other plugins by this company show and work with no problems in Premiere.
Is there any way to get Premiere to refresh the plugin list so that it 'sees' the new plugins?
I bought these plugins after I installed Premiere CC so maybe that has something to do with it?

PrPro has more limited use of VST's, than full audio-editing programs, like Audition.
In very general terms, there are three "types" of VST's, relating to PrPro:
Those VST's that can load and be used by PrPro
Those VST's that can load, but cannot be used by PrPro (in older versions, the user got a one-time warning about such VST's. Not sure if the warnings still exist. Basically, the message stated "PrPro can load this VST, but cannot use it."
Those VST's that cannot be loaded (so cannot be used either), and will often cause PrPro to hang on launch. PrPro writes a "blacklist," at each failure, so that it does not try to load that VST again.
It will probably take a response from an Adobe Developer, to tell us exactly what some VST's load and work fine in PrPro, but others cause issues, or just do not show up.
    Good luck,

  • 32-bit VST plugins in CS5 - here's a solution

For all people who want to use their old VST plugins in Premiere CS5 but could not use them because they are programmed for 32-bit hosts - here's a solution:
There is a little program called jBridge (jstuff.wordpress.com/jbridge) which works as a bridge for 64-bit hosts and 32-bit plugins. It's simple to use, install it and run the configurator. Here your are guided through the few stepps that have to be done: Choose directory of the 32-bit vst plugins and choose the destination directory (premiere vst directory) that's all. Remember to start the configurator with administrator rights because it have to write files in Premiere-VST directory).
Now I can use my old VST plugins as good and fast as in CS4. jBridge is shareware, you can test it as demo which fully runs for 20 minutes. The full version costs 15 Euro which seems to be a very good investment.
Just an information, hope it will help s.o.

  • Control Surfaces and Native Plugins

I have a Novation RemoteZero SL and, though I can access basic volume and pan, and I can control plugins from other companies where Novation has set up "AutoMap", I can't control Logic's own plugins! It won't learn them or control them in any way. This is a known issue for Novation, but what of other controllers?
Are there any controllers that easily control Logic's effects like the eq banks, compressors, etc? This seems bonehead basic, but I can't find any info on this topic here or in other discussions.
    Thanks.

The Mackie Control support lets you edit all parameters of instuments and effects plugins. If you don't have a Mackie Control, you can also use John Pitcairn's LCXmu, which acts as a virtual Logic Control translator between your controller and Logic.
I have a Korg microKontrol running with LCXmu, and it's excellent, way better than Logic'a native mK support, and you can access all instrument & plugin parameters, with the names coming up on the mK screens etc.
Have a look at LCXmu at OpusLocus and see whether your hardware is a directly supported device. Even if it isn't, you can still use it, you just have to set up some manual mapping stuff, depending on what buttons etc you have on your controller.
Otherwise, you are back to manually assigning parameters using Logic's controller assignments - but they are buggy.
I have to say that LCXmu has completely solved all controller issues I had using the micoKontrol as a little portable controller. It's ace.

  • 32 Bit Bridge for PlugIns in Logic 9 on Mavericks

Can anybody recommend an app that helps to run 32 Bit PlugIns in Logic on OS 10.9.3 ?

Logic 9 doesnt need a 32bit Bridge.... There is one built in to Logic Pro 9 that works with LP9 and Mavericks...
Logic Pro X on the other hand... doesnt have the 32bit bridge.. and so for that you will need an app like 32 Lives found here...

  • CS 5.5 VST plugins

Several  32-bit plugins that worked in AA 3 now show as disabled in CS 5.5.  Additionally, CS 5.5 identifies these plugins as 7.1 plugins.  They work with stereo tracks and should be enabled under the stereo grouping.  Is  this a bug, or does CS 5.5 have different requirements for VST plugins?
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Hi Nahravka,
I contacted Voxengo for their response and I was told that they have notified Adobe that Voxengo's multichannel plugins do not work with CS 5.5.  While this response might suggest that the issue is related to how Audition has changed, I am not willing to conclude this yet.  It would be helpful if some Adobe staff who are viewing this forum can comment and offer advice so that potential purchasers of CS 5.5 can understand what they are getting into.  It sounds like you are fine with the latest Waves plugins.  Regarding Waves, could you comment about your feelings about specific ones as far as your results with Audition?  While I am well aware of Waves, I have been trying to resist buying a dongle just so I could test drive their products.
Regarding Voxengo's plugins, the ones that are not multichannel - that is, they are just "stereo" are said to work.  Regarding the multichannel plugins and let's use GlissEQ as an example... from the Effects Rack, it looks like one can invoke the GlissEQ plugin and one can even tweak its settings.  However, when one closes the plugin window, the plugin does not show in the Effects Rack.
Having mentioned GlissEQ as an example, it seems like the new Audition EQ could be an improvement over that in AA 3.  And this is not to say that the AA 3 parametric EQ is bad.  I simply had been using Ozone.

  • Adobe Audition CC doesn't recognize VST plugins.

    Hello there,
I've been searching and searching through countless blogs and YouTube videos online but I have yet to find an answer to my question. I plan to use VST in the near future and have been downloading a few sample VST plugins. To answer the question I have checked all of them and they are all 64-bit which is how my system is set up, but when adding the folders where my VST files are found; the program scans (and reads them- as the percentage bar loads it displays each files name) but then doesn't display any of the effects. My question is: what is wrong? And if there's anything I can add it would be that, I don't know much about VST but the files are (.dll), is this the right/readable format for Audition?
The VST files are piano effects meant to be utilized with a MIDI device.
    Thanks!

Are they actually VST effects. If they are to do with musical instruments and MIDI they could be VSTi (VST Instruments) that Audition doesn't support. Can you tell us the name of one that you have tried unsuccessfully?
