Hi, VSx..., and welcome to the Community,
I can think of several causes for concern here, all of which will eventually lead to your having to contact Skype Customer Service directly as the Community is not a branch of Skype Customer Service, and we therefore are not granted access to Skype accountholder data.
Here is a link to the instruction on how to contact Skype Customer Service via their secure portal: Contact Customer Service
A few notes to help you find your way through the process:
You will need to proceed through each step, one at a time. Sign on to the Skype website as requested. Choose the subject and topic which most closely matches the item you need assistance with. Then, continue past Step 2 of the instruction where several articles from the FAQ library will appear for you to review, and proceed to Step 3, Continue Support Request (the blue "button" appears at the lower right corner of the website page). You may also skip through Step 4 where you will be referred back here to the Community; no need to do this as the Community is where you started. When you complete the webform and click Submit, your information is relayed to Skype and you will receive a reply via e-mail.

  • DAQmx VIs Timeout Problems

    Hello,
I am trying to acquire 9 frequency input chanels thorugh PXI-6624 card.
I have 9 independent loops for 9 frequency counter chanels. I am able to read all the frequencies above 10Hz properly.
    Now the problem is,
Sometimes there will be no pulses, and the Counter Input DAQmx VI will wait for timeout.( I have given the timeout of 1 sec). During this time my CPU consumption goes very high and I am not able to read any of the analog inputs too.
and say if similar condition happens to all the 9 frequency input channels then my software hangs.
I have tried using wait mode method but i wasnt able to read any frequency with it.
I have also read it that, when "Counter Input DAQmx VI is in timeout mode at that time we cannot make any other DAQmx VIs call". Please refer this link http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/3166

    Hi, everyone
I connect my device at COM1, but I cannot find that com port in serial config.
It means I cannot find any connection with my device in system manager.
I only want to use labview to control my device, even not use dll.
Anybody can figure out what problems in my situation ?
    # I use vb.net to do the same thing, and it works. So I think my deivce have no problems.

  • VISA communication problem

    Hello,
In my application i have communicated controller with the labview via serial communication with USB Serial cable (using VISA tool). My application works perfectly fine in development mode and in.exe(without installer)
Problem starts when I create the installer the communication starts malfunctioning. The communication behaviour is unpredictable. I have included different additional installer associated with VISA while creating my installer, the attached image shows it. Tell me if I am missing any additional installer. Some of the thread says that I should be having NI-Serial which is actually not listed in my case in the additional installer list.
The problem is that my application on target device (which is not having labview) is not taking certain commands. Guide me with this please. Thank you

In my experience, there is little risk in updating your VIs to a newer version; it's when you go backwards that you begin to have issues.  That being said, maybe There are some options that are different between the two LabVIEW versions?
I know it's too late for this project, but have several versions of LabVIEW on the same (Windows 7) PC, and I've opened up projects in the wrong version even though I selected the project from the --> menu from the correct LabVIEW version on the Start Menu.  It seems that the shortcut will open in the last version of LabVIEW that you had open, even if you did what I did above.  Now I explicitly open the correct LabVIEW version and select the project from inside LabVIEW instead.

  • Simple VISA Setup Problem

    Hi all,
I'm having issues working with VISA in LabVIEW. Previously, I've used Peek/Poke VIs (before they were VISA VIs) that allowed me to read and write directly to registers at a given Windows address. I have a new, custom PCI Express board that uses the same architecture that I've worked with previously only this time I'm trying to access the registers using VISA.
As this is my first time using VISA, I'm having some setup problems. Yesterday I got to a state where logically things should work but I still end up getting an error when I try to run a simple VISA Open command (see attached screenshot).
The initial problem I had was I was not able to acquire a VISA resource that opens a session to my PCIe board...it would simply not show up on the resource list. After reading around I discovered I needed to create a custom VISA driver for my board. Once I did that using the VISA Driver Wizard, the device showed up in my list (as seen in the screenshot). I wrote the simplest of all VIs where I simply open that VISA resource, however, the error seen in the screenshot is produced.
I'm pretty sure this is a simple setup issue, but does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

    Hi bonhomme,
I see you're having some issues using VISA. It sounds like you're new to VISA, so I wanted to pass along some information that we have availble on this software. This link gives good general information about VISA, and the related links are extremely helpful in finding specific issues.
Thank you for attaching your error. This is extremely helpful in debugging since we can actually see the numbers. There is another forumn that talks about these at this link and at this link.
    Hope this helps you out!!

  • 64 bit serial driver with 32 bit VISA causing problems?

I'm running LabView 2012 on Linux (kernel 3.10) on an x86_64 machine. I think that VISA is not playing nicely with my 64-bit serial driver. I have a few instuments connected through an NPort serial to ethernet converter. Instruments which output data constantly (unpolled) are working fine. I'm reading ASCII data from those using both minicom and LabView / VISA with no problem. Instruments which need to be polled for data are not working.
The same software and drivers are working fine on a 32-bit machine in the same lab (although I compiled the NPort serial driver for 32-bit on that machine). All I can think is that 32-bit VISA doesn't like the "bitness" of the 64 bit serial driver, and it's mashing anything I try to write to a serial port. This being the case:
    1) Can I install 64-bit VISA for Linux in conjunction with 32-bit Labview? Would that work?
    2) If I have to go for a 64-bit LabView, do I really need to downgrade my kernel to 2.x as suggested in a hidden NI compatibility document that I now can't find?
    3) Why is Linux such an after-thought with NI?

OK. Panic over. Could be down to differences in control codes that the newer version of the driver is acting on.

  • How can a I solve and GPIB/VISA compatibility problem?

My Labview (version 5.1 on a Macintosh) application talks to a variety of instruments over GPIB. In one mode it communicates with both 1) a LakeShore 340 temperature controler (LS340) using VISA-based drivers and 2) a Linear Research LR-700 AC resistance bridge using low-level GPIB functions. My application can query these instruments a couple of times per second, usually without trouble. However, periodically (about once an hour) the GPIB Read will cease to work with the LR700 or any of the other instruments on the same bus, returning error 6 (I/O operation aborted). GPIB Write still works fine. Querying the LS340 when the system is in this state produces the VISA error Hex 0xBFFF003C (Insufficient system reso
urces to perform necssary memory allocation). Querying the LS340 a second time is successful, and thereafter GPIB Reads are also successful.
I think somehow the GPIB and VISA protocols are interfering with each other. (Although the data dependency requires that the VISA Write/Read be complete before the GPIB Write/Read begins, I am not opening/closing the VISA session with every iteration. The VISA session is opened on the first iteration and stored in a shift register.) However, the maddening infrequency of this problem makes it very difficult to troubleshoot. Any suggestions?

    Hi Chris,
    One suggestion;
Write two seperate test routines that each use only one method or the other.
Test the H*&#$ out of each to attempt to determine if the issue is associated with the high level or the the low.

  • Visa Read problem from a PIC24's UART port

Thanks for taking the time to read my post.
I am using Labview 8 on Win XP CPU 3.4, 2GB RAM PC.
I am using a microcontroller PIC24 (on the Explorer 16 development board), which I have programmed to acquire an AC singal at a rate of about 4 kHz. The PIC24 has a 10bit ADC and the acquire value is then padded to16bits in total (format: 000000xxxxxxxxxx).
The serial setting for the pic and my Labview program are 115200, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit.
In order to send the acquired value to my PCs serial port (Remember UART = 8-bits of data only) I divide the 16 bit word into MSB and LSB. I then send the MSB and LSB 8-bit value one after the other.
The total data rate for this communication is about 64kbps.
The problem is that when I run the code I have written in Labview the CPU usage shoot up to 70% and I also see buffer overruns (a non continuous sine wave). If I a time delay in my while loop the buffer overruns increase.
Also if I try and use the ‘bytes at port’ VI the data I get is meaningless.
I would be grateful if someone can look at my code and give me some suggestion as to how I could make the ‘Visa Read’ VI more efficient.
    Regards
    Alex

Serial Client for PIC24.vi ‏101 KB

    Dear all,
I do not know if you have been following my post, but I am still getting buffer overruns (a non continuous sine wave) when using VISA Serial Read.
The only way to avoid this, is by making the VISA Read VI, read 2-bytes at a time (with no time delay in the main while loop). However, when I do this I see the CPU usage shoot up to around 60% (which is something I would expect anyway, as the main while loop is executing as fast as possible).
I have attached the working code below and would appreciate ANY comments BIG or small.
I am still puzzled as to why when I connect the ‘Bytes at Port’ Property Node, the data I get is not correct.
I have gone through the Labview Examples, as well as the LV Basics 1 course examples (which are similar) and I have also looked in the Labview for Everyone / Labview Graphical Programming books.
However, I have found the examples to be far too simple, for what I am trying to achieve.
I am seriously thinking of purchasing the LV Instrument Control Self-Paced Course, but I am not quite certain this would help me much. I have read the Course outline provided by NI, but this did not provide me with more valuable information.
Can anyone that has ‘done’ this course advice me as to whether the material contains info on ‘high’ speed acquisition using VISA Serial Read/Write?
The course is slightly price at a cost of around £240(with academic discount) and as far as I understand the courses examples (might) use two HP instruments (Multimeter and Function Generator) and a Tektronix oscilloscope, all of which I am not in direct contact with.

    Hi Dan,
I'm trying to follow your suggestion, but I can't get the VISA upgrade to function. I downloaded the NI-VISA 2.6 full development installer, which recommends uninstalling the prior version first. I couldn't find a good way to do this (the documentation is no help), so I ended up just reinstalling the entire Labview 5.1 without the VISA package. But even this approach (I tried several others) doesn't work - when I run VISA commands from within Labview after the VISA 2.6 install, I get 'unknown system error'. Any suggestions?

  • VISA GPIB problem after switchig from NT- W2000

application was written in LV 5.0.1 and run under NT for several years without problem. After installation of Win2000 the VI's communicating with instrr (GPIB) via VISA are not working.

    Hello marekf,
Thank you for contacting National Instruments.
If you are using an older version if NI-VISA, the NI-VISA library
(visa32.dll) will fail to load when guests and non-administrators are
logged onto Windows 2000. Guests and non-administrators do not have
read/write access to the registry key that VISA is trying to access.
The symptom may be a warning dialog box from the OS or an error, (such
    as -1073807360), in viOpenDefaultRM.
To avoid this problem, upgrade to the latest version of VISA or follow
    the procedure below:
    1. Log onto the computer as the administrator and open
    the registry editor (regedt32.exe).
    2. Explicitly grant the guest account write access
    under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\National
    Instruments\NI-VISA for Windows 9
    5/NT. Choose
    the Security>>Permissions menu item.
If "Everyone" is present, double-click it and
modify the permissions to "Full Control". If not,
click "Add", choose "Everyone", and give
    them "Full Control".
The latest version of VISA can be obtained using the following link:

    Hi,
If you are able to receive data to your VI but you still getting time out error messages, the reason could be you have specified a Return Byte Count for the read that is larger than the data trying to be sent back. The VISA Read VI is waiting for more data than is going to be sent from Ethernet device. This is why it receives the return data, displays it correctly, and still times out. You can see more information about it at the following link:

Some of us are having a problem on OSX where the express

there is a bug in VISE X 2.0 that is causing the problem. If this

  • Visa write problem

    hello,
I am trying to control a Coherent Cube laser with labview 8.0 (RS232)
I always get the response 'invalid cmd' from the laser.
There is a software furnished by Coherent which works without any problem.
I monitored the datas sent by this software and labview through the serial port but I did not notice any difference.
Have you got an idea? (the baud rates is well configured)

    Hi,
So your query works but your command doesn't, is this correct?
(Query being the string which starts with ? eg "?S".      Command being "Command=<value>" eg CW=1)
If this is correct then you haven't got a problem with your Write because the Query has to seed the "?..." charaters before you can perform the Read.
Therefore the problem is on the exact syntax of the command string. There can't be any spaces between the command, the = and the <value> ie CW=1 not CW = 1.0.
    Hope this helps
