Vista Business 64-bit on ALL Macs with Bootcamp 2.1

*With the latest Boot Camp Update 2.1 for Windows Vista 64, can ALL Macs (shipping as of May 2008) run Windows Vista Business 64-bit* (Business version is preferred for professional CAD applications)?
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/bootcampupdate21forwindowsvista64.html
More particularly, all new Penryn 64-bits Macs such as iMacs, and not only the Mac Pro and MacBook Pro lines. Ref.: Apple refreshes iMac line, now up to 3.06GHz: http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/08/04/28/applequietly_refreshes_imac_line_now_up_to_306ghz.html
*Also, can we confirm that OEM versions are not supported, like I read on some discussions?*
Thanks,

What is the hardware difference between an iMac and a Mac Pro that prevents that? Is it purely an Apple restriction effort to Pro user base (investment of staff to produce the compatibility through drivers) and not a hardware restriction? An iMac runs on a Penryn chip, a 64-bit platform, therefore perhaps only the drivers would fix this apparent issue.
It still appears that some users were able to do it, re: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1534484&start=0&tstart=0
The install disk would not even boot or Visa 64-bit would install, but not reboot under Vista?
I am reading that it is really a burden to install an OEM version.

  • Thinkpad X200 Vista Business 32-bit Wireless network problems

    Hey guys!
I seem to have a persistent problem with my two Lenovo Thinkpad X200, which I simply can't manage to figure it.
I have recently restored the computers to factory settings, which meant downgrading from Windows 8 to Windows Vista Business 32-Bit.
Now, everything with the installation went as planned until I had to test if everything was working. A lot of the drivers seem to be missing and since I do not still have the original manufacturer's disc, I do not know what to do.
I downloaded the ethernet driver from Lenovo's website and that is now fully functional.
I have also tried everything in regards to making the wireless internet work, but without any luck. When I try connecting to the wireless internet, Windows simply can't detect any networks and when I try using Windows function to find a solution to the problem it simply says "This computer does not have a wireless network adapter installed and configured".
I have tried downloading all the wireless lan driver for Windows Vista 32-bit from Lenovo's website, but I still cannot get the wireless network to work.
Any help would be highly appreciated
    Thank you in advance

Does the wireless LED light up?
    Try Fn+F5?

  • Vista Business 64-bit Mac Pro 2.66 4-core

    Hi,
Before 10.5 release, I tried to install Vista Business 64-bit twice, Erasing and starting from scratch both times (on a dedicated internal hard drive).
Both times I had driver issues...I eventually Erased a 3rd time and went with 32-bit.
I learned today Apple is now supporting 64-bit at least on some later 2007 Mac Pro models.
    My 4-core 2.66 is April 2007.
    MY QUESTION:
    Does 64-bit work on a Mac Prow tower 2.66Ghz, 4-core (10gb ram)?
(I'm not brave enough to try it on my 8-core).
Will Windows Bootcamp SOFTWARE UPDATE give me all the required drivers -- no basic issues that would waste my time again trying to make 64bit work?
    +++++
Note: I have the Tiger 10.4 OEM disks and a retail Leopard 10.5.0 install disk to work with.
I also have both 64 and 32 bit disks for Vista Business.
Is there a trick to doing this?

I'm done for today, but there was only one trip-up, getting the 2008 64-bit Apple drivers.
I started with Vista RC1 two years ago, and no major deal breakers in the last year or so (late '07 seemed to clear up most driver and applications).
Format drive as MBR and NTFS (and skip using BootCamp Assistant).
    Install.
    Update.
    Install Apple drivers.
Don't install what you don't need (I learned to avoid Norton).
I've used Business, Home Premium and Ultimate, all 64-bit.
If you have a 2008, then use its OEM DVD for BootCamp 2.01 64-bit, you need those sort of for HAL and stuff. The 2008 officially supports 64-bit due to its EFI64 ROM is UEFI 2.01+.

  • T500 with Windows Vista Business 64-bit ---- AND NO SOLITAIRE

Does anyone know how I can get my "waiting pacifier", the very standard SOLITAIRE, that I have been playing for over 10 years? I want to install this on my Windows Vista Business 64-bit T500 notebook? I am not interested in buying a more fancy version of this.

They're not installed by default on Vista Business edition, but they can easily be added:

  • In Windows Vista business 64 bits...Itunes can't load data information class...

Can't sync Iphone 4 with Itunes versión 10.7.0.21, in Windows Vista business 64 bits. Already tried uninstalling and reinstalling and also finding sqlite3.dll and the other dll... and nothing. Renamed the sycservices folder and nothing, copied corefoundations.dll and folder to system32 and nothing...
This is becoming very annoying... any tips?.
    Thanks.

    Hi!,
Thanks for your reply but I keep having the problem. I've been investigation through the Internet and I beleive is a COM situation or something is in conflict with iTunes, either way I manage to compare a similar environment (Win Vista 64 bits Business with iTunes running) and figured out that process "Syncserver.exe" is not running and neither is running "ATH.exe".
I'm reading more about what could possible causing these two process from being executing as they should.
        Thanks.

  • HP Windows Vista Business 64 bit recovery discs

I am looking to get recovery cd for my HP windows vista business 64 bit system. I am unable to boot in safe mode to do system restore.

    Hi:
It doesn't look like you can get the disks from HP anymore.
You can still get them from this non-HP vendor at the link below.
    http://www.computersurgeons.com/p-16921-recovery-kit-533108-zh3-for-hp-model-number-s5150t.aspx
If you can still read all 25 characters of the Vista Business product key on the COA sticker on your PC's case, and you like a challenge, you can make your own plain Vista Business installation media by reading the info at the link below.
You'll be able to save $30+ bucks if you can.

  • How do I change vista business 32 bit to windows 7 64 bit on a w700

I bought a full install 64bit windows 7 but the w700 wont boot off the dvd -- says there is no valid boot on the disk
the 32 bit dvd boots fine, obviously there is something missing in the prom. how to I get whatever is necessary to boot off the 64bit windows software.
As you all should know, the w700 doesn't support 32 bit windows 7 so I would hope lenovo will us poor suckers a break and tell us how to convert to the 64bit version
    Jeffrey R Fischman, MD

Microsoft does not provide any clean upgrade path from a 32-bit operating system to a 64-bit version.  Basically, you will have to do a clean install.  You can simplify the migration process by using System Migration Assistant at http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-50889.
With regards to the boot problem, I have found that certain discs and/or certain optical drives will take longer to initialize which can cause them to be skipped during the boot sequence.  To work around this, press F12 during the ThinkPad splash screen until you see "Prepaing Boot Device List"   When the boot menu comes up, select the optical drive and hit enter.  Sometimes you may need to wait a few seconds before hitting enter in order to allow the optical drive to fully initialize.  After hitting enter, the disc's boot loader will start and you'll see "press any key to boot to CD / DVD..."
If that doesn't work, try booting the media on another computer; it's possible the disc is defective (or has some dust on it.

  • Problem installing Vista Business 64-Bit

I was able to partition my second harddrive and restart, but when I got to the installation step (after booting into vista setup), I cannot install it on any harddrive. The hard drive I wanted to install cannot be installed. I even format that drive like it said to do in boot camp instruction but it still gives me a message that it cannot install on the drive I just formatted. Any idea?

Format the partition (I think you actually have to delete and create new) because BC and Disk Utility don't create valid NTFS volumes for Vista. Sometimes after creating a new partition, if it won't, just restart from Vista DVD is all it takes.
If you don't want to use the entire drive, use Disk Utility, create a FAT partition, and you'll be fine, after changing it to NTFS.

  • I'm trying to install Acrobat XI Pro on my pc that has Windows Vista Business 32 bit.

When I click to download this program, it brings me to the Adobe Application Manager but Acrobat is not on my list there, even though I purchased all the programs through the cloud.
    Can someone help?
    Thanks so much!

Sorry, but VISTA is not a supported OS for AA XI. From what I have heard on the forum, there is no way to get it to work. It is interesting that it will run on XP. Seems VISTA was another lame OS from MS, though I am running it on this system and it works fine. However, I use AA8 on this system.

Now tell me how you managed to get a PCI card into one of the others.
This may seem a silly mistake, but it's one i imagine that others may make and i would have thought the experts would have been able to identify it earlier.
That part I can believe. Also known as PEBKAC.
i would have thought the experts would have been able to identify it earlier.
And how is anyone supposed to be able to identify that if the can't see it.

IF your upgrading from 32 to 64 then you have to do a clean install. So backup your files because the install will erase everything.

The concept of running Windows on a Mac is not hard to understand.  It's nothing more than one computer capable of running both Mac and Windows.
