Visual Artifacts 7.2

New user, old developer.  This is my test project.
I installed the v7.2 patch this morning.  Screen image below is the muse work area.  Look at crappy red boat in the page header and the translucent shadow image of crappy red boat over the right hand panels near the bottom edge.    The shadow image stays even when muse is minimized and shows on top of whatever else is running.
Shadow image disappears when muse is closed.  There have been some other goofy problems, too.  Like mouse down on object 1 is highlighting object 2.
Windows 7, plenty of space and horsepower.
Also, the new widgets promised with the 7.2 update (like the spinning accordian panel) do not show.  Not sure what to do about any of this.  The update installed without messages.
Looking at how to report a bug, but Muse is not listed in the software for which one can report a bug.

Hello Christophe,
BI Kit is included in Visual Composer in the Netweaver Developer Studio for CE 7.2. You have to configure BI backend system in NWDS.
In order to do it, go to:
Windows->Preferencies->Destination Configurations->R/3 Configuration and press Add button.
Open the Single Server tab, fill the fields and press OK button.
Afterwards you should restart the NWDS.
Please note, that BI JDBC is not supported in NWDS and it is impossible to consume BMP data sources.

Talia

  • [SOLVED] rxvt-unicode 9.17 + tmux = visual artifacts on resize

Getting visual artifacts with the latest urxvt update.
Thinking possibly an upstream issue, but would like confirmation first.
Using dwm 6.0 with resizehints = False, if that matters.
Can anyone reproduce and/or recommend a fix?
    Reproduce:
    - Run tmux in rxvt-unicode 9.17-1
    - Fill terminal with text, e.g. `ls -la`
    - Resize window
    Expected:
    Actual:
    Observation:
If affected window is placed behind another window (e.g. by changing tags in dwm, or by dragging another window over it), the artifacts disappear.
    Edit: Solved
    Temp fix:
    Downgrading to rxvt-unicode 9.16.

I'm also encountering this issue after upgrading rxvt-unicode to 9.17. I'm using xmonad w/ an accordion layout so the instance of urxvt in which tmux is running is resized on focus resulting in the tmux status line not being removed from the position it was at prior to the resize. I can reproduce the problem while enlarging a floating urxvt+tmux window as well.
The problem doesn't exist after downgrading to rxvt-unicode 9.16.

  • Visual artifacts in Captivate 6 .mp4 file

When I publish Captivate 6 simulations as .mp4 at 10 fps and view in Windows Media Player 12, I see visual artifacts, such as vertical black lines, rainbow colors, or holdovers of portions of the previous slide, even though everything looks fine in Preview. One co-worker doesn't see the visual artifacts on playback, another does, and we all have Windows Media Player 12. Publishing at a higher frame rate of 15 fps did not help. Any suggestions?

It's not so much a known error as just a fact of life that some things work better when you use them the way they were designed to work.  If you publish a course for a SCORM LMS environment and then don't run it in a SCORM LMS environment, there are bound to be issues.  Captivate content published for SCORM will be looking to communicate with a SCORM API.  If it doesn't find one, it won't work properly.
Additionally, when testing content containing linked videos from your local hard drive, you need to remember that Flash Global Security can be an issue:

  • Unwanted visual artifacts with mastered DVD

My mastered DVD has unwanted visual artifacts resulting from a video recording of a dance recital that contained taped markings on a stage floor   This visual disturbance does not appear with raw footage or compressed file but only with mastered DVD.  Tried changing field order with each subsequent build but still get wavy lines that fluctuate.  Any one dealt with similar situation before?  Any suggestions?

We had the same issues with artifacts which appeared wavy, especially during fast movements.  We read several forums and attempted different methods with no results to solve the issue.  Finally, we discovered a solution!
We use Adobe Premiere CC and 6.
    Recorded footage AVCHD 1080i
    AVCHD 1080i30 (60i)
Make sure you have your footage in the correct editing sequence setting.
When exporting the auto settings appeared to compress the footage in interlace format which made artifacts on the screen on a progressive TV.
In Premiere Export in MPEG2 (Not MPEG2-DVD)
Select HDTV 1080p 29.97 High Quality (Or the format you recorded at but select P for progressive)
    Export your video.
Afterwards import into Encore or your DVD authoring program.
Unfortunately, if your using Premiere with the dynamic link option to connect from Premiere to Encore there's a known bug that prevents from fixing this issue.
For an average dance recital the compressed file should be larger than the 4.7GB DVD size but once imported into Encore the program should allow the footage to fit onto the DVD. Otherwise, depending on your program you may need to change your export compressing settings to allow for the video to fit.

  • Visual artifacts in old AIR projects running with beta 15

After installing the latest AIR runtime I am seeing a lot visual artifacts in older AIR apps that seem to be related to BitmapData.draw() in conjunction with a transformation matrix. It pretty much always happens when applying a rotation or skew and it also happens with certain offsets.
Here is an example created with Nodewerk (Nodewerk):
From left to right: original, skew, rotation, offset

I sent a similar report to non-labs forum. In my experiences these artifacts only appeared on Flash Builder's AIR simulator. Didn't see them on Android or iOS device.

  • IMac Freezing and Visual Artifacts

    Hello to everyone!
I have and iMac (early 2008, 3.06 GHz) and while on and doing nothing except for some chatting, mouse stopped responding and the whole screen got full with artifacts. To see what I mean click the link below to see the video. After that the iMac froze ever while restarting. Warranty of course was over.
So I had to buy a new one, and luckily I was able to transfer all my data putting the iMac in target mode (see bellow). I tried all the reset stuff but it just altered the way the stripes appear.
Could it be the graphic card? and if so can it be repaired at a fair cost so I could sell it to someone that doesn't have much for a new Mac?
    Thanks for your attention
    The video:   http://gallery.me.com/stefbystef#100318

Here is a good troubleshooting site for many Mac OS X issues, the X Lab. There is a section on Kernel Panics and troubleshooting the cause.
Also, you can learn about basic Mac OS X maintenance; the maintenance scripts, properly installed software updates, using Disk Utility, etc.
    Good luck.

  • Aperture 3.0.3, odd visual artifacts?

Looks like a memory issue or something with the video card? Regardless, after upgrading to 3.0.3 I get to see these artifacts fairly often. At times they're rainbow-colored stripes, other times just black rectangles that randomly populate part of the image. Happens both in full-screen and regular mode. See screenshot:
    http://www.materialized.com/temp/a303.jpg
Are there any solutions to this other than waiting for another update?

    Hi,
There are many threads/posts on this forum dedicated to this very issue. This is related to a software incompatibility between Snow Leopard and some graphic cards (mainly ATI).
Try this - un-tick the crop adjustment, then tick it again. It worked for me. In most cases.
And provide feedback to Apple describing the issue. Hopefully they'll fix it someday.

  • Why am I getting visual artifacts when typing in text fields?

Since upgrading to Firefox 4, I get weird graphic artifacts when typing in text fields on websites. I'm getting them right now as I type this! They appear below and to the right of the line of text. The artifacts disappear when the page is refreshed or if the window is resized. This bug only happens in Firefox. My video card drivers are up to date.
    Here is an example: http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k136/tobe82/ff4bug.jpg

I've gotten this issue on Windows 7 and on Ubuntu. To fix, go to Options->Advanced->Disable Hardware Acceleration.

  • Desktop visual artifacts

I was wondering if anybody has seen the following.
I just purchased a new intel based mac mini and am having problems with the desktop. Occasionally when returning from frontrow or the screen saver application, the desktop gets corrupted. The corruption manifests itself as both a horizontal bar of noise about 100 pixels tall spanning the entire width of the desktop and a noise border around any open application window of roughly the same width.
Any suggestions on what I should do? Started talking to applecare but they want me to reinstall OSX and/or exchange for new hardware. I have a sneaking suspicion that won't resolve my problems.
I have a screen capture if anyone is REALLY interested.
Mac Mini (Intel)   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

After searching a little harder, I found what I was looking for. It appears that it is either a driver issue or heat issue with the shared memory graphics cards. Rumor has it is fixed with OSX 10.4.7. It sounds like it affects MacBooks and the Mac Mini. Returning the Mac Mini for a new one, reinstalling from scratch, disabling secure virtual memory, etc have not fixed the issue. We are waiting on apple for this one.

  • Screen displays visual artifacts (gibberish)

I have a MacBook Air 13" mid 2012 that on occasion gets serious display issues. It has happened twice, about one week apart, and both times it has happened about a minute after I open the lid in the morning. Running at the time (among other things like Finder etc.) is Parallells 7 with Windows 7 and Chrome with a lot of tabs. Both times I have had a paused YouTube video in the active tab in Chrome, and the computer has been in "standby" (lid closed) during the night.
The only thing I've been able to do is reboot the computer by holding down the power key, since menus and dialogs are unreadable. After reboot everything is working fine.
And of course the warranty expired about 4 months ago (purchased november 2012), and I decided not to get the Apple care package... go figure.
See YouTube video below for how it looks, both on external and internal screen.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7hl1qGM_bs

Update: I ran the Apple Hardware Test (holding down "D" while rebooting). It says everything is fine, both on the short test and the extensive one that takes about an hour to do. I read some answers to people reporting similar issues suggesting it's could be caused by a faulty GPU and/or bad GPU RAM. If any of those were the case, wouldn't the diagnostics tool pick up on that?
Will try the PRAM and SMC resets as suggested and report back if/when it occurs again. Thanks.

  • Odd visual issues with Xorg

Hey all, recently, after restarting post-upgrade, X loads my DE (Gnome), but fails to display it correctly. There are also quite a few visual artifacts. I've been running Arch on it for months, and I saw nothing in the update that would have broken anything. And the only errors/warnings in my Xorg logs are regarding vesa, fbdev, a fonts directory and ACPI (See code below).

A thumbnail of a screenshot is below. Should anyone require a higher resolution of the image, I will provide one on request. For the record, the mouse and some of the icons on the shell appear. The whole screen also flickers as if broken on mouse move.

Connor, thank you for your reply. EXA is a no-go. If by RenderAccel, you mean AccelDFS, it's also a no-go (if not, I don't know what you're referring to). I am also not familiar with the Composite extension. As far as I'm aware neither the driver or the xorg server were in the update which preceded the issue.
As a final update, I managed to get GNOME into Fallback mode to see if that would help at all. Though it does display my background, which doesn't happen in standard mode anymore, the icons and shell are all still messed up. As I need my laptop to be in fairly functioning condition before Wednesday—and because I'm fairly sure this whole thing was due to a mistake I made somewhere along the way—I'm just going to do a clean install tonight.
Thanks for all the help as always folks. Have a good night!

  • IOS GPU mode artifacting

I've searched around the forums and google extensively but haven't seen anyone with a similar issue. I'm creating a simple iOS app using Box2d. When I enable GPU rendering, the objects on screen get a lot of visual artifacting and often disappear completely. See the attached video below. The isue doesn't exist when rendering in CPU mode.
    Configuration:
    AIR 2.7, iPad2, OSX Lion, CS5.5
    Things I've tried without luck:
1.) CacheAsBitmap + CacheAsBitmapMatrix for some or all objects.
2.) Choosing the render option "export as bitmap" for all graphical objects.
    3.) Recreating the FLA.
    4.) Restarting the iPad.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Having a blast with the iOS exporter, can't wait to get back to it!
    Thanks,

  • Interface artifacts in Safari 3

After installing the 10.4.11 update for Mac OS X, I had no problems launching Safari 3, but noticed that typing or pasting a URL into the address field worked fine. Unfortunately, creating a new Tab or opening a URL from Mail or even a bookmark create visual artifacts in the menu of the browser window; black, hexagon-shaped spaces between buttons, and what looks like another unified menubar behind that.
Has anyone else experienced this, or know how to solve the problem?

It's not about building a better card!
it's that ati use pure hardware power and as there hardware is already extremely powerfull they dont need to resort to optomizing their drivers to get a game to play as NVIDIA does just look as the case where NVIDIA was caught cheating in driver benchmarks for instance just to hide how rubbish their hardware really is and this view comes from a previous owner of a NVIDIA card!
