VM created on Win 8.1 Pro Laptop cannot find win 7 iso file on USB

VM cannot find USB to load Win 7
I have a Windows laptop with Win 8.1 Pro installed. I turned on Hyper-V and created a VM. Everything worked up to that point. I also downloaded the Win 7 iso and placed it on a USB thumb drive.  I also downloaded the Win 7 installer.
When I "start" the VM, I get a black screen with a message the VM could not load an OS.
It appears to me that the VM does not know where to look for the OS. I cannot find any way to tell it where to look.
I spent over $300 for upgrades to Win 8.1 Pro and a licensed copy of Win 7 so I could run Win 7 on my laptop as I need it to run UPK (which is not compatible with Win 8).
As a last resort I went to the Micrsoft store in Miami and offered to buy a Surface Pro 3 if they would install the VM and Win 7 on that for me. They said it was very easy to do and I would have no problems, etc., etc., etc. In other words they did not have
a clue about what I was talking about.
I hate to see over $3000 worth of hardware collecting dust on my closet shelf because I cannot use them. I am hopeful someone here can help a non-techie make this thing work.
Thanks in advance,
Dennis
PS - Went to the Apple store last night and was shown a MacBook Air with Parallels installed. It was running Apple stuff on the Apple OS and MS Office 365 on Win 7. It was all very seamless so am leaning very much to going with Apple as a solution.

You don't say that you attached the iso to the VM.  The easiest way to do
that is to connect to the VM and then on the console, pull down the
"Media" menu, Select "Insert Disk", then browse to the ISO and select it.
Then under the "Action" menu, select "Reset".
You can also mount an iso in the settings for the VM.

  • Laptop cannot find wireless printer HP 2540

Trying to connect my Acer laptops to HP Deskjet 2540 All-in-one printer.   Printer is connected to wireless network.
My laptops cannot find the printer.  I have tried everything suggested, apart from disabling my firewall  which I am reluctant to do as I do not want to have my laptop so vulnerable.
Did not have any problem connecting a Windows 7 laptop to former printer, which was a Lexmark wireless model.
One laptop is using Windows 7, the other Windows 8.1, but both have the same problem.
I am not very technically astute and also I am quite old, so if anyone can help, please keep it simple.

Hi mev2911, and welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that you are no longer able to get connected to your HP Deskjet 2540 All-in-One Printer on your wireless network. I suggest that you follow the steps in this document for Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection. I suggest that if your computers are not seeing the printer, that you power cycle your network first as this may resolve your issue.
    How to power cycle network
Follow these steps to reset your HP printer, your wireless router, and your computer.
1.Press the Power button on the HP printer to turn it off.
2.Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the HP printer.
3.Disconnect the power cord from the wireless router.
    4.Turn off the computer.
    5.Wait 30 seconds.
6.Reconnect the power cord to the wireless router.
7.Wait 30 seconds, or until the router is fully on and ready.
    8.Turn the computer back on.
9.Wait for the computer to reload.
10.Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the HP printer.
    11.Turn the printer back on.
I hope this information helps, please let me know how it goes.
Thank you and have a great day!

Is it possible to view .bbb files in a mac? how? I am transferring my bberry contacts onto my macbook pro, but cannot open the .bbb files...

Well, if simply double-clicking the .bbb file doesn't work, first try dragging the file onto the BBDM icon (either in the Dock, on the desktop or in the Applications folder or wherever it's stored). That tells Finder to open it with that application.
Otherwise, right-click on the file and choose the Open With option. If BBDM is not the default, select Get Info and use the Open with box from there to select it (if it's not in the list, choose 'other' and navigate to it), then click the 'change all' button.

  • Windows XP Toshiba laptop cannot find airport express

    Hi,
I'm experiencing the same problems (so i've read) many others have.
My Xp laptop cannot find the base station of airport express, while my macbook has no problems.
I've tried some of the possible solutions mentioned on this forum, but nothing seems to work for me.
    - i can't fill in a correct ip adress in the airport aid program XP (don't know if this is important)
    - and I don't know where i can find the "channel change" option on my xp laptop.
I have tried to change the channel to 1 at my macbook wich resulted in having to reinstall ax cause it also couldn't be found on my mac book after this change
Long story, but i hope someone can help me!
    Kind regards,
    Sonja.

Do you have access to the Airport Admin Utility? It should be Start ->Airport -> Airport Admin Utility.
If you have this, and it should be there is you have loaded the AX software, you will see the AX Base Station in the window. Click on it. You will be asked for a password: the default is "Public" (without the quotation marks). Once you have entered the program, you will see a series of tabs across the top of the page. The Airport Tab will give you access to the information that you need to change (e.g., channel, etc.).
Remember that some Toshiba Laptops have a physical switch that must be turned on in order for wireless to be used. Mine is just underneath the left-hand side at the front of the unit.
If you purchased your AX in Europe, then you can go all the way up to Channel 13 ... Channel 11 appears to be the maximum in North America.

  • Will WIN 8.1 Pro Hyper V load WIN XP the same as does WIN 8 Pro Hyper V?

Was a change made from 8.0 to 8.1, or am I doing something wrong?  (I get a "Boot failure" message when, in the Hyper V Manager in my WIN 8.1 Pro machine, I click "Connect" to attempt to load WIN XP Pro SP3 from a CD.)

Please Download Windows Server 2008R2 from Download Center of Microsoft and then test it , if it works it relate you media installation .

  • N9A2 Platinum, Installing XP Pro, SP2, Cannot find SATA Hard Drives

I am lost here.  I cannot get the bios to recognize the HDs as SATA drives, and XP Pro does not find the HDs (of course), and I do not know why.  Do I need a SATA driver floppy for the Install Win drivers <f6> ?  I thought not from the other threads here.  I am not using Raid.
I have downloaded and read the manual from the support site, Support knowledgebase and every thread that I could find here in this forum.
My setup is the N9A2 Platinum, V1.
    Bios v 1.4, 3/112/08
    Phenom X3 720
    Ultra 750W power Supply
    Seagate 500GB SATA HD
WD 80GB SATA HD (for Photoshop scratch drive)
My Bios is set up as follows>
    Integrated Peripherals
      Extra RAID Controller - Disabled
      On-Chip ATA Devices
          PCI IDE Busmaster - Enabled
          RAID mode           - IDE
OK, Any ideas?  You folk have a lot more experience with me.  Thanks for all/any help.

Ports 5 and 6 ,the red ones ,are for the Promise Extra RAID controller ,which as per BIOS settings was turned off  ,thats why the HDD was not detected .You can use that Promise controller with HDD-s ,even if they are not in RAID config ,but drivers are required.
    Glad i could help you!

  • [SOLVED]Wine on 64-bit - can't find wine libraries

Hi. I'm a n00b at Arch with 64-bit system and would like to install Wine. I downloaded it from here:
    http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=7915
And then installed resulting 'bin32-wine-1.1.25-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.gz' . I satisfied all dependencies, and I get:
    [warnec@chakra ~]$ wine
wine: error while loading shared libraries: libwine.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I might also add that there are libwine.so, libwine.so.1 and libwine.so.1.0 files in /opt/lib32/usr/lib.

  • Cannot find edqp.properties file, can I just create it manually?

I would like to establish a connection between my EDQ and EDQP instances, both 11g versions. I understand OEDQ server must be configured first so the EDQP processor will appear in the EDQ Tool Palette section. EDQ Online Help says that the 'edqp.properties' file must be created in the [install path]/config/edqp directory. However I cannot find [install path]/config/edqp directory. Instead in My Oracle Support it says that 'In EDQ 11g, the edqp.properties file belongs in the "..oedq_local_home/edqp" folder. When I checked "..oedq_local_home", there is no 'edqp' there. Can I just create the 'edqp' folder inside the "..oedq_local_home" directory?  Then can I also just manually create the 'edqp.properties' file afterwards? When I am done creating them all manually, do I need to bounce my EDQ server to reflect these changes? Thanks in advance for any reply!

Yes, just create the folder and file in the local home.

  • My mac pro laptop cannot access the internet which is cable thru airport extreme any suggestions

My Mac pro cannot access the internet cable but is connected to wi fi thru airport extreme. my apple desktop works fine on the system and sits next to my laptop. any suggestions

"I have an ethernet cable in port 1 on my computer. That is configured manually to access ther office network."
Do you have a "real" IP address or a private (192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x, 172.x.x.x) IP address?
"The wireless router was connected to the company server only for the purpose of getting me online through Airport because I couldn't access it using an ethernet connection"
Could not access it because their network security blocked you by intent, or had some unknown technical difficulty?
Unless you are blocked by intent or ommission (if they have to explicitly allow your machine) I can think of no technical reason why your wired connection should not both get you on their network and on the internet in general. You should not need to be dual homed (though dual homing should work as well).
Please answer the questions above when you can - I think solving the wired LAN issue will be easier if you are not being intentionally blocked.

Try to get into your machine and if you do, the first thing you do is backup your files to a external drive. (not TimeMachine) via regular drag and drop methods.
Disconnect this drive. and all others.
You can then c boot off the installer disk for your OS version and under the Utilities menu is Disk Utility > Repair Disk
Also you can totally reinstall OS X, shouldn't effect your programs or files (but backup all files just in case)
If that don't work, c boot off the installer disk again, this time use Disk Utility to Erase >format HFS+ Journaled with Security option > Zero All Data (will take some time) This will totally wipe the drive of everything and is a last ditch effort.
When it's done quit, and reinstlal OS X.
You'll have to go through the setup and reinstall your programs and files from backup. Secret is use the same user name and drive name as the previous time so your iTunes folder will work without a hitch.
If you restore from TimeMachine, it's possible whatever problem you had can return, but you can try and if it doesn't work, just repeat above without TimeMachine.
Later look at free Carbon Copy Clone your boot drive to a external HFS+ Journaled formatted drive and keep in a safe place, it hold option bootable, great if your hard drive bites it, or TimeMachine gets hosed. TM isn't bootable.

  • STOLEN MacBook Pro and cannot find my serial number for the device is there anyway else I could locate it because I have used find my iPhone to locate device but it is not registered even tho I have used the same app to locate my phone on my laptop.

Can someone please help me with this unfortunate situation?

The only way you can find it is using Find My Mac (or iPhone or whatever).  Knowing your serial number does not help except if the police finds it and needs to identify it as yours.
If you didn't turn on the Find My Mac service (System Preferences>icloud), then you can't track it.

  • Cannot find Win 8.1 drivers for Satellite C50-A-1DV

    Hi.
I re-installed windows 8.1 from a disk I have, but I'm having driver problems, namely finding certain driver support on the Toshiba website.
It seem that my laptop isn't listed, or I can't find it in the support section for drivers.
The drivers I'm looking for namely are the motherboard drivers.
I already tried a driver site but my laptop was taking a good few minutes to power off after shutdown so I doubt those were correct. I'll try intel chipset device software and see if that gives me the correct ones.
Rest of drivers I can get simple enough through device manager, but not the chipset drivers, and probably usb 3.0 too.
On a side note, I noticed I don't need to type in the key, which I wrote down using belarc, I assume it's saved to the BIOS and windows auto detects it correct?

    Hello
According notebook specification your notebook was delivered with preinstalled Windows 8.1 64bit so what you should do is to reinstall original recovery image that contains all necessary drivers.
When you say you have installed Win 8.1 from the disc, what does it mean exactly?
Have you installed your own OS version or original Win8.1 version from created recovery disc?
Anyway, al Win8.1 64bit drivers you can download from Toshiba download page - http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp
There you can find all drivers for your Satellite C50-A-1DV with part number PSCG6E.
    Check it out.
