Overdrive Media console not working with iTunes when transferring audiobooks.  Some parts don't transfer.

Robin, I have the 4S too. Here's wha I've been doing. Well, I am downloading wma books, but it is super time consuming and annoying. First, shut off genius in your preferences in iTunes. Also change to spoken podcast for speed. Then, you start to transfer from Overdrive. It will create a playlist with your book title. Open up books though because you need to keep an eye on it. It may download like three parts and then you may have a grey one. When you get the grey, cancel the transfer, delete the greyed part, exit iTunes, re-enter iTunes, and then try to download the remaining book parts. I usually have to re-enter iTunes three or four different times during a book. When your book is downloaded, all black and none grey, open up the playlist folder and double check that all parts made it in there. If not, carry them from the books folder to the playlist and then move it into numerical order.
Re non bookmarking problem. I now have a new habit of checking what part I am on before i shut off my phone or switch to another book. It does save where you were, it just doesn't show you. For instance, if I start part three and then play music, and then go back to the book playlist, it will appear as if we are back to the beginning, but if I go to part three, it will start up from where I was. So, just start checking and then it is easy. I am flabbergasted that no other proper solution has been offered by Overdrive. This has been a problem since October. I also wish they would acknowledge the problem on their website as well as post what version number of update they have. I have 3.2.1.0 and think that's current. Does anyone have newer than this. Good luck, and happy commuting!
An easy, quick workaround is to plug external speakers into your laptop and take it with you in the car. A bit unwieldy, but I can't commute without books.

    Any ideea ?
Edited by: [email protected] on Jan 26, 2009 4:34 PM

    Man Christian!
1000 Thanks for your tip. I run into same issue on W2K3 with 10.1.3.4 MLR#4 (so far last MR allowed for AIA apps).
I had the orabepl.ear file of the size as was mentioned earlier: 2.530.260 in the bpel\system and other one on the j2ee\ocj4_soa\applications folder.
    Copying did not help.
I had to perform following steps from the <MLR#4>/custom/scripts/post.bat file which takes the file from the bpel\system,
ADDS some another .jars in it and ONLY THEN move it to the j2ee\...\applications folder:
    copy %ORACLE_HOME%\bpel\system\j2ee\orabpel.ear %ORACLE_HOME%\bpel\system\services\lib\orabpel.ear
    copy %ORACLE_HOME%\bpel\system\j2ee\ejb\oc4j_ejb_services.jar %ORACLE_HOME%\bpel\system\services\lib\ejb_services.jar
    copy %ORACLE_HOME%\bpel\system\j2ee\ejb\ejb_ob_engine_oc4j.jar %ORACLE_HOME%\bpel\system\services\lib\ejb_ob_engine.jar
    cd %ORACLE_HOME%\bpel\system\services\lib
    %ORACLE_HOME%\jdk\bin\jar -uvf orabpel.ear ejb_services.jar ejb_ob_engine.jar
After doing manually these steps the orabpel.ear in j2ee\...\applications has got the size: 2.798.840 which was bigger as right after patch application.
Then I deleted the orabpel folder from the j2ee\...\aplication-deployments
started the j2ee containe (it was named: oc4_soa ) and the BPEL Console started live well as before in 10.1.3.3
As I did verify from other files The rest of steps from the post.bat file seems did well, only this part was not executed.
    With Best Regards,
    Alexey

    An error like
netx: Unexpected net.sourceforge.jnlp.ParseException: Invalid XML document syntax. at net.sourceforge.jnlp.Parser.getRootNode(Parser.java:1203)
indicates that the JNLP file is not valid XML. The error happens because netx uses an XML parser to parse the JNLP file. Other JNLP client implementations may use more lenient parsers and may or may not work with the given JNLP file. Errors caused by malformed JNLP files can often lead to subtle bugs, so it is probably best to fix the JNLP file itself. A tool like xmlproc_parse might be able to pinpoint the error.

This is obviously not how one would want to start a console by downloading the .jnlp file and running it on the command line so I am now going to remove the /home/gordon/.icedtea/cache/http/* and see what happens.
First, let me say that nothing happened. It did not work. I did confirm that it creates the directory structure again /home/gordon/.icedtea/cache/http/192.168.4.16/ovm/rasproxy/ but there is only one file in the directory.
    [gordon@ufo rasproxy]$ cat ovm_rasproxy-ws.jnlp.info
#automatically generated - do not edit

If I save that ovm_rasproxy-ws.jnlp file instead of opening it and copy it to the /home/gordon/.icedtea/cache/http/192.168.4.16/ovm/rasproxy/ directory the console will now start successfully with one minor drawback - it will only launch that one VM based on the .jnlp file that I downloaded.

  • Dashboard Console not working - opesntack on Oracle Linux 6.6

I have installed openstack using the instructions at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/openstack/linux/documentation/oracle-openstack-user-guide-2296176.pdf
I have a Oracle Linux 6.6 as the controller and two nodes of Oracle VM 3.3.2 as compute nodes. I managed to get an instance up and running but not sure how to connect to those instances. When I navigate to the console tab of the instance vnc connects successfully the be screen is blank and I think its not accepting any keyboard inputs as well.
How do I get the console to work from the dashboard (or connect via a vnc viewer)? Alternately I have used DHCP in the instance and know the private IP of the instance (192.168.1.100), how do I ssh to the instance?
    Amish.

    Hi Amish,
I saw your comment in other thread and I'll try to answer your questions in the best way I can - but this is huge topic. Please keep in mind that I'm also newbie in this area too and I've encountered many problems getting basic OpenStack installation working, like you. Some of them are still not solved for me either. I also did not get any help here
Networking in OpenStack is IMO difficult to understand, especially for people like me who are accustom with traditional approach. So this is how I understand it now:
Networking can be purely software driven and in this case it is carried out by openvswitch (http://openvswitch.org - better get accustom with it if you are not yet). Simple linux bridge - utilized by Oracle VM - is not used by OpenStack. Also there can be hardware plugins which can move some of network features to hardware - but I have no experience in this area.
There are two types of networks you can create in OpenStack: provider and tenant one:
Provider networks (also called flat networks) are equivalent of what you set in Oracle VM Manager and in typical (old fashioned) IT world. These are networks which in OpenStack are defined by cloud administrator (You) and bound to existing physical network which are already set by network administrator. For example you have couple of ports on your servers connected to LAN switches, some of them are in access mode some are trunks of specific VLANs. Also routers and other network services are managed outside of your cloud.
You need to define these networks in OpenStack before any user can connect their VMs to them. The most important part is that can do this from the GUI .
On the other hand there are so called: tenant networks. These are networks which are under cloud user administration. These are like cloud private networks (if you know Ops Center or Exalogic there is similar notion there) - which are created on-demand by your users. You as cloud administrator only create some limits (quotas) regarding how many such networks can be created by user. But obviously you - as cloud administrator - also need to define mechanisms which allow such networks be created on demand. This also has to be done from command line by editing some files - before users can create tenant networks.
The mechanism I'm talking about can be: VLAN, VxLAN, GRE.
First one is the only one currently supported by Oracle and it is quite simple: you, in cooperation with your network administrator reserve range (or set) of traditional VLANs and configure them on network switches where your servers are connected (I mean server ports which you dedicate for tenant networks - not all because you need other network for management, etc). Then you define this set in some OpenStack files to let it manage them on its own. For example: you have got 20 VLANs from network department for exclusive use for your cloud. Nobody knows what each VLAN will be used for yet. This will be allocated by cloud users on-demand. Openstack will just allocate VLAN upon user request and will not allow other users to create their private networks on the same VLAN.
Better approach is to use VxLAN which is tunneling mechanism. You don't need pool of VLANs in this case but you just set tunneling rules and then OpenStack creates private networks using secure tunnels over L3 network which you define first. VxLAN is standard, you can read about it and it is used by OpenStack for Solaris. Unfortunately this did not work for me and Release Notes from Oracle OpenStack for Linux says that it is not supported yet.
There is also GRE - which is also tunneling and is similar to VxLAN - but it did not work for me either.
Where it is all configured? Basic setup is created by packstack using CONFIG_NEUTRON_OVS_* variables. However I used packstack only for installation and then I modified configuration files on all nodes. The most important file where configuration is kept is: /etc/neutron/plugin.ini. In this files you set framework on which provider and tenant networks are build. The most important section is [OVS], for example:
    [OVS]
    enant_network_type=vlan
    enable_tunneling=false
    integration_bridge=br-int
    bridge_mappings=physnet1:br-eth3
    network_vlan_ranges=physnet1:2032:2032,physnet1:3010:3020
This example is from compute node. It says: I have one physical network: physnet1 which is supported by virtual switch called br-eth3. You need to create this virtual switch on your own! OpenStack networking deamons (Neutron) do not create virtual switches - they only reconfigure them if needed. Physical network is just name which you can use later on if you setup provider network.
Also, in the example you tell OpenStack that you have 11 VLANs available on physnet1 network. Similar configuration has to be done on controller node (but it is only because in simple topology your controller is also network node)
Then I dedicated first VLAN: 2032 for provider network. This was accomplished by command issued on controller node.
    # neutron net-create --router:external=true --provider:network_type=vlan  --provider:physical_network=physnet1 --provider:segmentation_id=2032 labnet
From that moment this network (called "labnet") should appear in the GUI and you can connect VMs to it. Users might also do this if you mark it as "shared".
Also users should be able to create their private networks and this will allocate VLANs from 3010 to 3020 - so there can be only 10 private networks created totally in your cloud now.
Of course this is example and you can build completely different setup. You can use different ports for provider networks and for tenants one. You do not need VLANs for provider networks and theoretically for tenant too - but you would have to have plenty of ports for this. If you manage to get VxLAN working - then please share your experience here.
I strongly recommend reading following information sources (Oracle does  not provide this details in their documentation):
    OpenStack Docs: Current
https://developer.rackspace.com/blog/neutron-networking-the-building-blocks-of-an-openstack-cloud/  there are more blog entries (followups) on this topic - look for them using keyword "neutron"
    https://www.rdoproject.org/forum/discussion/875/does-rdo-support-flat-network-type-/p1
    As for blank VM console:
I've also had this problem when I used Cirros VM images. However when I imported the template I use on my Oracle VM - then console was working correctly. I think this is more connected with VM configuration then OpenStack. AFAIK you can connect to console directly using vnc client - at least you can configure Nova in that way that it allows external VNC connections.

    Michal

if it does compile, do you get a runtime error? Or do you just observe behaviour different from what you expect?

  • Login to Design Console not working

Login to OIM url is working fine. OIM is 11gR2 version.
However, login to Design Console is giving a "Change Password" window for xelsysadm user login from windows client (but login is ok on local OIM host).
I have reset password and logged in via OIM urls fine. Again login to Design Console is giving "Change Password" screen.
    Has anyone noticed this behavior?

There is no cancel button available. The small window that pop ups has three fields- one comes up with xelsysadm and the two fields or text area for Password and confirm password. There is no cancel button and trying to cancel the window does not work. Just FYI, am logging into the host after 2 months or so. It was working fine earlier. Thanks for your suggestion, any other ideas please post.

  • SCOM web console not working

I have a brand new SCOM installation where SCOM has a RMS and a dedicated DB with DW installed. Everything except web console is working just fine. When I try to navigate to the web console address throught inetmgr I am able to get up the popup window for
username and password and am able to login. But if i try the URL locally on the RMS or from a remote system I am still presented with the login window, but after the credentials have been supplied, I am redirected to page not found. I am using Windows integrated
security, and just for the sake of it I have tried form based and basic authentication. I have also added all the local addresses to trusted sites but still no luck so far.
So to sum opp the problem, Web console not available from URL and FQDN but is available through IIS. Dont really know what the problem is, as there is not being registered anything neither in
Opsmgr log, application log or system log. I cant seem to find anything usefull in IIS log files either. All the servers in the solution are running 2008 R2 and the domain functional level is 2008.
Hope that some one can point me into the right direction.

    Hi,
I would like to verify what exact error message is recevied when trying to open web console. which authentication was used when installing web console?

Thanks for the reply Vivian, I have actually seen this blog and none of the errors described here are the same as I am getting. I can try to describe the situation a bit better:
When http://Localhost:51908/default.aspx is used the web console comes up. No login is required. Everything seems to be OK.
When http://hostname:51908/default.aspx is used:I get the error: Internet Explorer cannot display the web page.
When http://hostname.domainname.local:51908/default.aspx is used: I get the error: Internet Explorer cannot display the web page.
During the initial install and following installs Windows authentication was used as the Web console was been installed on the RMS. I have now installed the IIS mgmt pack which is showing IIS as healthy both on the RMS and on the MS. I have also tried to add
the webconsole on the MS and used form based authentication. But it is also showing the same exact behaviour with the web console as that of RMS. (Had also enabled for delegation as Pete has mentioned)
I have checked the SPN and seems like they also are registered correclty. Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Best regards,

  • EM web console not working

    Hi,
I installed OEM 10g successfully on a wintel box and used it for 2 weeks. It worked perfectly for me. During this time I hadnt restarted the box.
2 days back, the IT guy changed the netbios name of the machine and restarted it. Now i cannot load the OEM web console. I tried the url with the new machine name as well but it doesnt work. I guess I need to tell the EM that the netbios name has changed? But I dont know how that can be done.
I tried starting the Oracle service from the services page but that doesnt start as well. I changed the machine name for the listeners and I can connect to the database from a remote machine. Just this web console thing is not working.

  • Console not working

OK I've installed 10g on my WindowsXP based laptop and set up a basic database which I can connect to from sqlplus. I'm trying to use the the http based console, in the absence of the old java console, but it can't connect to the database. It says there is a problem with the database, doesn't appear to be, and that the password is incorrect when I attempt to connect to it for startup, it isn't. When I go into the recovery options I get the following message after typing in the sys password.

Any clues? Anyway to install the old java console without all the rest of the EM 10g gubbins?

  • Linksys SRW2016 switch serial console not working

I have had the switch for about 2 years and recently moved.  The manual specifies:
38400 bps and 8-n-1 serial port settings using DB9F to DB9F cable.
I have done this and tried using multiple machines/ports/cables as well as several peices of software (minicom, PuTTy, hyperterminal) and none give me any output from the switch at all.
The trouble is that in its original config, it had 1 port locked into its own VLAN for management with port security and an obscure RFC1918 IP address which I cannot recall for the life of me.
At this point, I have no access to TCP/IP management so serial console is my last hope and is not working.
    Any ideas here?

Hi Tobias, after connecting to the console with the forementioned setting, reboot the switch and tap the enter key several times until the screen shows the post process and loading. If there is absolutely nothing loading the switch may be bad.
