  • Applications Change Management Pack  3.1 is now available

E-Business Suite Applications Technology Group has recently released Application Change Management Pack (ACMP) Release 3.1 and Application Management Pack (AMP) Release 3.1.
As you might be aware, Application Change Management Pack is Oracle's offering for customers to monitor and manage Oracle E-Business Suite changes. Application Change Management Pack provides a centralized view to monitor and orchestrate changes (both functional and technical) across multiple Oracle E-Business Suite systems.
In release 3.1 Application Change Management Pack has been enhanced to provide more control and flexibility in managing Oracle E-Business Suite changes.
Some of the key distinguishing features of the new release include:
    * Change Approval Framework: Changes orchestrated through Application Change Management Pack can now be controlled through the new change approval framework in Release 3.1. Users can now be segregated as approvers across Oracle E-Business Suite system(s) and modules (Customization Manager, Patch Manager or Setup Manager). Built in notification capability enables approver(s)/requester to be intimated about the status of relevant change requests. It also provides an implicit audit trail mechanism.
    * Integrated Custom Application Management: An integrated custom applications management feature enables users to easily register new custom applications across Oracle E-Business Suite systems and also track and validate existing custom applications in a standard way. This dashboard also helps track custom objects, packages and file meta-data associated with custom applications.
    * Pre-requisite Patch Analysis: Oracle E-Business Suite patches can now be analyzed for Pre-requisites prior to deployment in the target system. The analysis also verifies whether the pre-requisites are already available (in the target system) and if not, an option to add them to the patch job.
    * Offline Transformation: For the very first time, users have the ability to download Oracle E-Business Suite setup data in Microsoft Excel document. Once downloaded, the Setup Data can be edited or new data can be entered into the worksheets. Data is validated within the Microsoft Excel file and also while uploading into Setup Manager.
    * Built-in Intelligence: Release 3.1 has numerous minor enhancements that provide necessary intelligence for a seamless change orchestration. A few examples are:
    * Automated file driver meta-data generation for new files and $Header handling
    * Customization Package impact analysis report
    * Advanced filtering options for setup migration
    * Improved Usability: Release 3.1 contains numerous usability and reporting enhancements to ensure better integration with third party systems like source control systems and to foster collaborative development.
    Licensing
Application Management Pack for Oracle E-Business Suite and Application Change Management Pack for Oracle E-Business Suite are separately licensed products. Application Management Pack for Oracle E-Business Suite Version 3.1 is a mandatory prerequisite for Application Change Management Pack for Oracle E-Business Suite Version 3.1 and should be licensed separately.
    Upgrade
This pack supersedes the Oracle Application Management Pack for Oracle E-Business Suite 3.0. An upgrade path to Release 3.1 is provided from Release 3.0 only. Therefore it is mandatory for the existing installations to be at the AMP-ACMP Release 3.0 level before upgrading to Release 3.1.

  • Firefox 4 VMware vCenter Lab Manager dropdown boxes are broken

When using Firefox 4 with the VMware vCenter Lab Manager application version 4.0 (4.0.2.1269), none of the dropdown pickboxes work properly. It appears that the text in these fields is of zero height or something. I can provide screenshots of this if necessary.

I should read the whole answer before posting a reply:) No, it still doesn't show the drop down options in 10.0.
Something changed between 3.6 and 4.0 that causes these empty drop down boxes. All versions, starting with 4.0 up until 10.0, show the same behavior that you can see in the attached image: empty drop down boxes for the "source", "network" and "datastore" options.

  • Cannot quit Visual FoxPro (Windows Terminal Server 2008 + Citrix XenApp 5 + VMWare vCenter 5.1)

    Hi everybody:
This is not the typical question about this error, because the problem here is not about how to quit (CLEAR EVENTS then QUIT). The really and weird problem is that our application do no execute the error trapping routines (Try/Catch and ON ERROR) and tries
    to directly Quit.
I have never seen something like this before, error trapping routines not executed.
I try to explain the problem better:
    - The user click on the Citrix icon of our App
    - Citrix shows the executed processes (establishing connection, applying user config, loading profile, etc)
    - The Application (VFP 9 SP2) is started and in any moment, while loading, occurs an error that is not handled by error handlers, and it executes a "kind" of a Quit command, that we detect because have a ON SHUTDOWN to catch it, then the App shut
down and the user must click the Citrix icon and start all over again, up to 7 times, when the App really load and work.
    - I think that it is useful to make clear that no QUIT command is really causing this, just the behaviour of the QUIT when an error occurs, but just while loading. If the App get completely loeaded, then everything works as expected
    Infraestructure:
    - Windows Terminal  Server 2008 + Citrix XenApp 5 + VMWare vCenter 5.1
    - There are up to 50 concurrent users max in every virtualized server
    - More than 10 GB of free disk space / Up to 4 GB ram
    - RAM Memory is never used to the max
    - CPU (Intel Xeon) is never used to the max (up to 90% in some cases)
    - Data (DBFs for temporal work) ar on local drive, not over network (to avoid network known problems with smb2-3)
    - There are connection to a Oracle 11 database for permanently storing the data
    About the errors:
    - They are not always the same or in the same place. In example, in one execution could fail the query of SET("Printer",2), in other execution could fail a SET PROCEDURE TO xxx ADDITIVE (sometimes already loaded), in other could fail a "DO
WHILE .T." in a init event.... completely crazy, and in all cases the errors are not thrown, not a single error code, the App just try to quit, as if ALT+F4 where pressed.
    - All this does not happen allways to everyone, but happens many times in the day to many many users as to be worried
    - The same user can have this error many times a day, but not allways
    - Some of the problems started when migrating to Windows Terminal Server 2008, but didn't notice nothing special in the beginning, but a year later (last 2014) problems tend to go worse
    Tried solutions:
    - For the "SET PROCEDURE TO xxx ADDITIVE" error, a "IF xxx $ SET('PROCEDURE')" check was added
    - The "SET('Printer',2)" check was moved out of initialization code, so it executes when user want to print the first time. In this case was neccesary to talk with IT guys to map a default printer after the App runs, and not in background, as it
    was.
    - Other checks and modifications was made to minimize posibility of errors
    - Adding a timeout of 5 secs in the start of the program, to force a wait
    - Restart of virtual servers (not the phisical) every 3 weeks
    What I suspect:
    - Some Microsoft optimization (memory?, process execution?) in WTS-2008 may interfere?
    - Some VMWare memory management may interfere with WTS-2008?
    - Some Citrix management may interfere with both?
    - Server degradation because of day to day use
    Results until now:
    - Apparently, adding the timeout to force 5 secs delay and the restart of the server have made a notable enhancement in App start and running
    with far fewer
    errors
    Has
    this happened to anyone?
    Thanks! o_O
Fernando D. Bozzo / Madrid (Spain)

I never had this type of problems, but somewhat similar start up problems. I'd say it indicates resource problems. Low RAM can cause many unpredictable things. In my case loading much data at the begin of an application caused out of memory errors, which
were reported and logged normally, though.
I made a small tool using Windows API functions GetPerformanceInfo and GetProcessMemoryInfo, you'll find declaration and usage like usual at the News2News site. It's a bit lengthy and cluttered, but pretty much what you find there anyway, so I'll not post
    my utility code.
I could quite clearly see how many users degraded available memory per session and at some time no further instance of the application was possible on the server. In my case RDP was used to start the app, Citrix will be quite the same, in the end the application
runs on some server and users see the remote running application.
    Bye, Olaf.

  • [Blog] Monitoring WebLogic J2EE on VMware with VMware vCenter Operations (vCOps)

Monitoring WebLogic J2EE on VMware with VMware vCenter Operations
The Blue Medora vC Ops Management Pack for Oracle OEM was updated in early May (2014) to include enhanced support for Oracle WebLogic J2EE integration. All of the Oracle EM target types for WebLogic related components including WebLogic Server, J2EE Application Deployments, Oracle HTTP Server, as well as WebLogic Cluster are now available to be ingested into VMware vC Ops Enterprise Edition.
With the data available within these new vC Ops 'Resource Kinds', you have the ability to create WebLogic on VMware relationship views, WebLogic on VMware mashup dashboards, as well as leverage vC Ops anomaly detection and predictive analytics on your WebLogic J2EE landscape. Below are a number of example dashboards that were easily created using the WebLogic data available within the Management Pack.
The first dashboard, the WebLogic on VMware Relationship View -- helps you visualize your WebLogic environment running on VMware all the way down to the VMware VM, ESX, and even Datastore level.   This can useful for diagnosing critical J2EE applications running within the vSphere environment -- allowing you to quickly discern whether a problem exists in the Oracle WebLogic layer or one of the VMware virtualization layers.

Can you point me to recommendations on installing Hyperic on VMware virtual appliances?
Is it as simple as treating the appliance as a Linux VM during installation?  Can vSphere be used to deploy Hyperic to a VMware appliance like vRA (non-IAAS)?

  • VMWare vCenter Server SQL Licensing

I understand fully the difference between SQL user and core licensing. Though I'm not sure how to apply SQL licensing to VMWare vCenter server.
vCenter server is a management utility for VMWare that requires SQL. I have 20 users log into vCenter to make VM changes.
The application logs server events to SQL. The VM settings/files themself that end users log into are stored on disk.
Servers or their settings do not use SQL. The server that monitors the environment is what writes to SQL.
Can I get away with just buying 20 user licenses for the 20 that log into the vCenter server or do I need to license every user that access servers that are on VMWare?

  • UCSM / VMware vCenter Server dependencies for vDS

I am still trying to wrap my head around the differences between the vDS created via UCSM / VMware vCenter integration and the traditional N1K.
If understand correctly, the UCSM (1.4) vDS does not require the VSM appliance that is needed with the N1K.  And if that is correct, is there any dependency on vCenter?  If vCenter goes down will the vDS continue to operate normally as the FIs are acting as the VSM?

    Hi Peter,
Just to add to the nice post from Eric, 5+ Eric
as you might aware that with the Cisco M81KR VIC adapter
    -  VN-Link in hardware, all traffic to and from a virtual machine passes through the DVS and the hypervisor.
and then returns to the virtual machine on the server. Switching occurs in the fabric interconnect (hardware).
As a result, network policies can be applied to traffic between virtual machines. This capability provides
consistency between physical and virtual servers
For Cisco UCS instances that use Cisco M81KR VIC adapters to implement VN-Link in hardware, you must
create and install an extension file to establish the relationship and communications between Cisco UCS
Manager and the VMware vCenter. This extension file is an XML file that contains vital information
The distributed virtual switch (DVS) framework delivers VN-Link in hardware features and capabilities for virtual machines on Cisco UCS servers with VIC adapters
With VN-link in hardware, Layer 2 traffic between two VMs on the same host is not locally switched on the DVS but it sent upstream to the UCs-6100 for the policy application and switching. Switching occurs in the fabric interconnect (hardware). As a result, network policies can be applied to traffic between virtual machines. This capability provides consistency between physical and virtual servers.
In VMware vCenter, a port profile is represented as a port group. Cisco UCS Manager pushes the port profile names to vCenter, which displays the names as port groups. None of the specific networking properties or settings in the port profile are visible in VMware vCenter.

  • Cisco application networking manager license file - unable copy to server

    Hi all
We tried all the options like ftp, tftp, scp, etc., to copy cisco application networking manager license file from my pc to its server which has CISCO ADE OS .But unable to copy .can anybody know correct method to copy ??
    Thanks & Regards
    Sanjeevi

    Adrian,
In order to install the license you must have a license file on the ANM server and install it through the command line:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/app_ntwk_services/data_center_app_services/application_networking_manager/4.1/installation/guide/IG_config.html#wpmkr1120937
No other way to do it.
License file can either be copied to the ANM file system, or you can create a new empty license file on it and copy paste the license file content.
If you have no access to the ANM server through CLI, then a workaround might be:
         - install a new VMWARE machine where you have CLI access.
         - install ANM on it
         - copy license (other you copy the file through any means or you create a file and edit by copy pasting the license file content)
         - install license with the command  /opt/CSCOanm/bin/anm-license install /path/ANMxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.lic as described in the link above
         - save the VMware image
         - deploy the same VMWare image to the ESX where it has to be installed and where you have no access to CLI neither you can copy a file.
    Hope this helps,
    Domenico.

  • NIC config of VMware installation of Call Manager

    System version: 8.6.2.22900-9
    VMware Installation: 1 vCPU Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2609 0 @ 2.40GHz, disk 1: 80Gbytes, 4096Mbytes RAM
A few month ago we had a vendor come in and upgrade our old VOIP system with a VMware solution of Call Manager. Versions are shown above.
I use Veeam to backup these VM's and it was taking hours to finsih so I starting digging into VCenter to look at the netwroking setup.
Even though the server has gigabit ethernet cards they "hard coded" the speed down to 100 Meg and changed the duplex to half.
Does anyone know of any reason why they might have done that? Will it fail if I change the speed to GB and utilze full duplex?
    thanks...

    Joe...
    Questions and a comments
Questions in the post above you mention...
"At this point, I would probably try the Hypervisor and Switchport hardcoded at 1000/Full to match CUCM. Check interface counters and watch for errors and runts."
When you refer to "Switchport" I am assuming you are you talking about the physical port on our physical switch?
which is interesting becasue I just looked only to discover that on our physical cisco switch (Catalyst 4506) that our phone system is physcally plugged into our 10/100 module and not into our gig module. So even if I made all of those changes I still would have been at a 100 MPs speed becasue of the physical connection to our switch. So obviously... I would need to change ports on the physical switch to the gig module, correct?
    question 2...
monitoring the ports for errors and runts, again I am assuming you are talking about the physical Cat 4506 switch?
Assuming then I move the connections into gig ports 5/26 & 5/28, etc...
From a telnet session into physical switch... after enable mode type...
    switch#show int gigeth5/26
and I will see stats from that interface correct? or do you look for these in a different mannor?
comments... first of all, thank you....
    second....
I am not sure I quite understand anything about you very last post.... about the restricted UC and Cisco support..
yes, I am running USC C220 M3 servers... are you saying that if I have over 1000 users that TAC will not support performance issue? I ask becasue we only have about 125 users....

  • N1010/N1000v : VMWare Vcenter - VSM (L3) on N1010 - VEM on ESX-host

    Hi Vishal Mehta,
I am currently busy with the rollout of a nexus1010/nexus1000v.
    Current status :
    1/ Nexus 1010 (primary/secondary) setup is done/ok.
    2/ Add VSB’s for Nexus1000v is aswell done/ok.
3/ VSB(VSM) towards VMWare VCenter communication (show svs connections J) is aswell done/ok.
4/ VEM activation on a ESX-Host à and this is the part were I’m a bit lost (sorry for that L… ) :  how should I “understand” the VSM to VEM communication. And/or in other words : can a ESX-host (with a vswitch or distributed vswitch stay active in parallel with a VEM on that same ESX-Host ? Based on my current testing, everything points into the direction of “migrating from an existing vswitch to a VEM setup”).
[Note : I have a VSM to VEM Layer3 setup configured.]
4bis / what about the mgmt. communication between the ESX-host vswitch & the mgmt.communication between the ESC-host VEM (which is in my case layer3).
Is there a "good" one-pager available which shows the difference between VMware (distributed)vswitch vs VMware with Cisco Nexus1000v VEM. And additionally which parts can run in parallel between the VMware vcenter & an ESX-Host (when it comes to "controlling the vswitch & the nexus 1000v VEM).
    Many thanks for your replies,
    Best Regards,
    Joost.

    Hi Joost,
You have scored on all the initial setup steps and almost close to using VSM-VEM :)
To answer your main question – Yes a ESXi host can have multiple active Virtual Switches in parallel.
That is to say, you can have VMware’s DVS, Nexus 1000v VEM, vSwitch 1, vSwitch 2, …., vSwitch X all ON at same time.
The separation at switching level happens on basis of which VMs (via Port-Groups) use which Virtual Switch.
The uplinks (network adapters - vmnics) of host are distributed across virtual switches (CANNOT be shared)
So multiple active Virtual Switches gives you flexibility to segregate your virtual workloads across those uplinks
Now regarding the L3 mode between VSM and VEM
You can either use existing mgmt. interface (vmk0) to communicate between ESXi host (VEM) and Nexus 1000v VSM
Or you can have dedicated (separate from mgmt.) IP subnet with new VMkernel (say vmk1) for VEM-VSM communication.
Please refer below document which walks through the scenario you have implemented:
    https://communities.cisco.com/docs/DOC-28631
we don’t have specific document to compare Nexus 1000v with other Distributed Virtual Switches
But few of advantages for opting Nexus 1000v are – its free, all NX-OS features, separate entity which can be owned/managed by Network team and other special features which I presented in above webcast recordings
Common deployments I have seen in field is Customers using vSwitch for mgmt. (vmk0)  and other host specific functions
And they use Nexus 1000v VEM for NX-OS for additional functionality like LACP, PVLAN, QoS, ERSPAN and Virtual Machines traffic.
    Thank you!!
    Regards,
    Vishal

  • How to remove farm account from Application Discovery and Load Balancer Service Application

    Hello Community
Using Sharpoint 2010 Server I think the reason
the User Profile Synchronization would stop is because somehow the farm
account was registered as a managed account.  So I removed the farm
account from all services that ran under the farm account so that I could
run Remove-SPManagedAccount or click the Remove icon in manage service accounts
and then unregisted farm account as a managed account.
But before I can run Remove-SPManagedAccount I need to remove it from one more
service account that uses the farm account which is:
"Application Discovery and Load Balanceer Service Account".
However, nothing seems to remove it from there.
        I tried :
    "get-spserviceapplication | where {$_.TypeName -match "Application Discovery and Load Balancer Service Application"}
        and then
    "stop-spserviceinstance "dde7fbef-b068-4687-bedb-f67230efab5a"
amongst a host of other methods so that I could ultimately
unregister farm account as a managed account.
But no matter what I do when I try to remove the farm account from Application Discovery
    and Load Balancer Service Application
and then unregister the farm account as a managed account a message always says
"Application Discovery and Load Balancer Service Application" is using the farm account
    as its service account.
What can I do to free the farm account from Application Discovery and Load Balancer Service Application?
        Thank you
        Shabeaut

The Farm Account is always a Managed Account and can never be "unmanaged". You don't have to set the automatic password roll.

  • A note on Setup Manager - Application Change Management Pack

    Hi All,
This is Mugunthan, Development manager for iSetup and Setup Manager. I am happy to begin my note with the launch of Application Change Management Pack 3.1. For those who are not aware of Application Change Management Pack, it is a new product built on top of Oracle Enterprise Manager and comprises of three major modules namely Setup Manager, Customization Manager and Patch Manager. You can find more information about this pack here (LCM: Oracle Application Change Management Pack Setup Manager is enhanced and advanced version of iSetup on Oracle Enterprise Manager. There were good amount of reasons to re-architect iSetup on Oracle Enterprise Manager as Setup Manager.
    Why Setup Manager?
Ability to migrate to data over point releases of EBS – EBS comes up with rollup patches on top of major releases periodically. It means that you have to certify the patch before it get deployed on to production which means that setup data are to be certified again. iSetup cannot connect between 12.0.4 to 12.0.6 or 12.0.6 to 12.1.1. We have achieved the data migration for above scenarios in Setup Manager (11i to R12 is not supported in Setup Manager)
Projects – Setup Manager supports grouping of Extracts, Transforms, Loads and Reports as a single entity and can be deployed multiple times to multiple targets. The project consists of one or more tasks (of type Extract/Load/Transform/Report) and can be orchestrated according to your ends. Project execution supports scheduling which means that you can use this feature to sync up setup data between two instances at periodic internal. Projects can be shared with other users which is remarkable difference between iSetup and Setup Manager. You can share your projects with others in a combined development environment. The functional configuration data (Extracts) are stored in Oracle Enterprise Manager. This means that you can refresh EBS without losing Extracts.
Integration with Change Approval mechanism – Execution of projects is integrated with change approval mechanism which means that you can control who executes what. Also, you have fine grain access control where you can control EBS targets assigned to a user.
Offline Transformation – I would say this is the most unique feature of Setup Manager and as an implementer you would welcome this feature very much. iSetup has got very limited capability on Transformation. Here we have gone way ahead and support Transformation on almost all Setup Objects. We present you the extracted data in excel sheets. You can download the excel template and work offline. All the attribute value fields in the excel sheet are editable which means that you supply your own value. For example, you can download Operating Unit data in xls file and change operating unit “OU100” to “OU200” and upload it back to system and load to target instance. Please note that any attribute of Operating Unit setup data can be edited. Also, system has got intelligence and once you upload the excel sheet, it automatically changes all the inventory organization which belongs to “OU100” to “OU200”. This behavior can be controlled using attribute mapping which you can create in Setup Manager. Hold on, this is not the end, also you can add more operating unit in excel, say OU300 and OU400 and load it to target instance. You can delete few Operating Units from extracted data in excel sheet and load the remaining to target instance. This gives you complete flexibility to manage (add/edit/delete) functional configuration data offline. This is fantastic feature and please have a look at how it works.
Advanced Filtering – Filter support in iSetup is not flexible where you cannot use comma separated values and complex sql join conditions. Also you do not know what query is executed behind the scenes to the data. All this problems are addressed in Setup Manager 3.1. We show you the “select clause” (SQL) associated with interface and provide you a text field where you can refer the select clause and provide your own custom where criteria (SQL). This means that filter support is unlimited and you can set filter any database columns. For example, you can extract “Responsibilities/Menu” which are active or created as on yesterday. You can extract all Operating Units excluding “OU100 and OU200”. We support all filter criteria that are supported by SQL.

    Hi,
your note very interesting. Is there any other way to extract the configuration using SQL? not using Enterprise Manager? hope this will be fastest way then using GUI base.

    Hi All,
In ECM application When manager select an employee working under him and click on "Plan" button, it will display a page with some information in the table. The column of this table is configured in backend using SPRO t-code.Now requirement is to add one column to the table and button with name "Promotion"  on this page.but the problem is "promotion"column and button will be visible for some users only and for other users, column and button should not visible.(ex differentiate the users who logged on to portal by secter wise)
As per the SAP delivered ECM code, now only the Personnel number of employee under manager is passing from portal to standard RFC when manger select the personal number working underhim and  click on "Plan" button and it will display the page where information are shown in table usng OADP configuration.

    Hi,
You just phrased my question in your words. All hooks are listed in hr_api_hooks table, each one with before and after methods.
Now how to determine, which hook is being called by which front-end process? For example, there are three different hooks - for Appraisal, Appraisal Template and Appraisal Period.
How to determine which one is called for my purpose, say validating before appraisal record is created.
This is just an example. There are number of processess related to assignment change. Using trial and error method will take long time and may be unreliable result in determining actual hook.
So, has any prepared a list of hooks to be used against each front-end process? Or has Oracle provides with any such document?
This is highly likely if one is involved in such work area.
    Regards,
    Saurabh
