VoIP Upgrade to 10.5

We are in the process of planning our upgrade from CallManager 8.5 to 10.5 and we have some questions.  We will also be upgrading Unity, Presence, Attendant Console, Contact Center, and Emergency Responder.  The question concerns Emergency Responder.  Per docs on Cisco website, it is recommended to upgrade Emergency Responder prior to CallManager.  We are taking our VoIP infrastructure to Cisco UCS and we are discussing the best way to do this.  We pretty much have CallManager figured out, but with Emergency Responder we are looking to do a P-to-V of the physical MCS box to ESXi on UCS.  Once we P-to-V the Emergency Responder we plan on upgrading to the latest version which should be 10.5 or 10.0 at the minimum.  Is Emergency Responder 10.5 or 10.0 compatible with CallManager 8.5.  I don't believe it will be, but the reason is we would like to upgrade Emergency Responder prior to upgrading CallManager.  Would like to hear what other members of the forum have done when upgrading Emergency Responder.

The RNs for CER cover compatibility with CUCM, you can find them on CCO.

    Changes/improvements made from MCU SW
    version 210.34.75 to version 300.34.84:
    New feature: Maps 2.0
"Walk to" – Pedestrian Navigation: Pedestrian navigation plan a walking route and the visual guidance helps navigate you where you want to go. The “breadcrumbs” trace shows where you have walked, to further aid your orientation.
Bestinclass Car Navigation and Traffic: Improved & faster routing, also with multiple waypoints. Improved guidance, including signposts and traffic. Grid menu & specific navigation map mode (wider roads) for easeofuse.
Satellite maps: Entertaining and useful satellite maps shows real aerial photography of map locations and a “hybrid view” also shows the street names overlaid on the pictures.
Multimedia Premium Guides: Rich media content including photos, video, audio from suppliers like Lonely Planet, Via Michelin, etc.
Onebox “stations” Map search: New alwaysvisible onebox search framework with categorised content “stations” offers an intuitive & efficient way to discover content in Nokia
Maps: It also adds Navigation capability to the following countries Argentina, Botswana, Bulgaria, Chile, Lesotho, Namibia, New Zealand, Romania, Swaziland and Venezuela. Maps 2.0 is backward compatible with Maps 1.2 data. However, to get the full benefit of Maps2.0 ie walk navigation, it requires memory card preinstalled Maps data to be updated.

  • N97 Mini VOIP failure after 11.0.045 upgrade

Just upgraded my N97 mini to version 11.0.045 and the built-in VOIP got buggy. VOIP call only working for the first call after a phone restart ! The registration is successful al the time, but no audio and connectivity after 1st call. I'm subscribed to a Betamax Voip service.
I'm connecting through Wifi. I freshly downloaded and reinstalled the SIP Voip settings software. No luck.
I also notice some strange behaviors.. When I logoff from VOIP service, the Wifi is not turning off (no other service using the connection). And in the advanced settings I see the profile is "Registered", which was not so before upgrade. Now, to release the registration, I had to do a restart.
    Please advice.

Hi, I also just upgraded to 11.0.045 on my Nokia N97 Mini.
I cannot log on to my SIP profile at all any more! Nothing happens when clicking on it or selecting Options--> Connect.
I also reinstalled the SIP VoIP software (SIP_VoIP_3_1_Settings_S60_5_x_v1_0_en.sis) but this could not solve the problem either.
I do very much rely on VoIP so I am very disappointed by Nokia!
    Can any one help??

  • Should I Upgrade to VoIP, or use PBX

We now use an Alcatel PBX, 15 years old, with Lucent 8410d digital phones. We have 200 users at one site, and 100 users at three remote sites, with data T-1s connecting them. Is VoIP absolutely the best way to go, or should I look at mid-range PBX solutions. If VoIP, is the Cisco brand the worth the extra money? Thanks. jc

Do you like Coke or Pepsi? Are you a Republician or a Democrat? Do you watch the Office or Heroes? The point is that there is alot of personal opinion in what you are asking. And a look of non-quangtifiables.
First choice, to VoIP or not to VoIP. WIth a 15-year only PBX, you are probably going to need a change anyway. The only serious options are a new IP PBX or an upgrade to the Alcatel that will enable IP. The IP-enabled option may end up being cheaper, because it allows you to keep existing handsets. It also reduces the amount of change that your users will face. However, it does tie you down to a single vendor and probably a single topology. And maintenance expenses will probably be higher.
A new IP PBX would probably be most people's choice here, but hey, it's a Cisco IPT forum. (If you go to a Ears, Nose, Throat doctor, he will probably tell you that you have a problem in your ears, your nose, or your throat.) This will probably included a larger initial outlay of capital and services, but in general, maintance will probably be cheaper. Now, if you go with an IP PBX, which do you go with? Obviously Cisco is the popular choice around here. It is expensive, but it also works. Lots of support is available and lots of trained and certified professionals can be found to install and support it. Asterix is the other major option, but this is the opposite of Cisco in a lot of ways. Cheap, difficult to find support, difficult to find people to install. However, when instaleld correctly, it works as well as Cisco. Some would say even better, as Asterix has a broader feature set. But typically the support issue is enough to drive most businesses away.
Aside from Cisco and Asterix, the only other IP PBX worth mentioning is Avaya's IP Office, but that is really more of just an IP enabled PBX/Key system. so probably not a canidate unless you are already using Avaya.

  • Cannot click on edit options in Voip providers website after upgrade to Yosemite

I just upgraded my Mac-Mini to Yosemite and now I cannot click on the edit options in my VoIP providers web site.  This has been a problem in Internet Explorer for Windoz for a while now and the solution was to use compatibility mode.  But I cannot find something similar in Safari.  I ended up downloading and using Firefox to accomplish my task.  Does anyone know of a workaround other than a different browser?  My VoIP provider is unlikely to change their web site for MAC if they wouldn't change it for Windoz.  Any help?

  • 7962 VOIP Phone Dies After switch upgrade/reboot

    Hi
Recently I upgraded several access swicthes (2960, 3650's) which have POE and Cisco 7962 phones connected.  After the upgarde and subsequent reboot, the IP phones failed to power up and are effectively dead.
All that happen on the phone now is that when the POE cable is connected, the phones mute button LED light flashes before the spekaer LED lights up and remains lite up.
Approx 5 phones across multiple switches have died this way.
Can anyone tell me if this is a behaviour they have experience and how they may have recovered from it.

I am searching for a power adapter now.
Yes - appears to be only 7962
The Watts are displaying as 7.0 as opposed to the normal 6.3 and the Device ID is showing IEEE PD
    Version 12.2(55SE9)

Hi guys and Saravanan thank for the ideas....
the qualituy is getting better, not satisfactory for the customer though...
I have upgraded the firware as advised to 1.4.3 - I forgot to mention I have 7925g wifi phonee
I set the 802.1x + cckm with eap-fast and WPA2 and definately the quality of the calls got a huge improvement but still not enough. What can be the reason for the confinuing problems during roaming?
Guys, is it possible to set the CCKM without ACS (or WDS - i think that was the second option)
    here is some output:
    (Cisco Controller) show>wlan 3
    WLAN Identifier.................................. 3
    Profile Name..................................... test_wifi_144

  • How would you upgrade my MacBook Pro 15" to maximize performance?  No dollar limit.

I love my MCB, but am not technical.
Spend my money, theoretically -- If you had an unlimited budget to upgrade this system to make it fast and more efficient, what would you buy or do to it?
I'm deciding if I should scrap it and get a new MacBook Pro 13" instead.  I like my MCB 15", but it seems to be getting hung up alot with the spinning rainbow, everyday apps freezing or crashing, and just slow when I have multiple windows open in Safari and Firefox at same time.  I realize that the sites I browse to are more graphic intensive than they were when I got the MCB in 2008, but I'm wondering if it would be worthwhile to spend some $$$ to upgrade whatever I can and save my pennies for a newer Mac in a year or two.  Safari and Mail crash or get hung a lot, Photo Booth folder is mysteriously empty,
So should I expect to be able to get substantial performance improvement (speed, multi-tasking) if I upgrade whatever is upgradable?
I surf using multiple browsers and open many tabs and mail with numerous accounts and magicjack, ocassionally use iweb, pages, text, calendar, low intensity games.
Thanks for any advice and recommendations and thoughts.  I'd probably get the Genius Bar to install upgrades.

Also -- it had a couple of soft drops to floor and one medium intensity drop, always on carpet.  so the case (not unibody) is dented on the sides with ports.  All "seem" to work fine except right side USB; looks pushed in and angled, and the plastic trim that fills in space connecting flat top of typing surface to bottom cover has a 4" piece cracked off (kind of looks like where grout would go).  Devices work but if you move the wire it's power filckers off and on.  Have never used firewire or thunderbolt ports on this.
I would like more USB port options (maybe a high grade extendor???) for Logitech laptop cooler, external HD, VOIP device, wired mouse, wired keyboard (I prefer wired).
    Thanks again.

    Hello Neville,
Thanks for looking in to this and alerting me.  I don't know how to interpret all the data in the descriptions of the USBs in your post (or mine, for that matter) Which descriptive line/codes show a USB 1.0 and a USB 2.0.  I would like to understand how to read that.
    Here's how I determined both are 2.0.
    1.  I checked my serial number at this Apple link and confirmed it is MacBook Pro 15" Early Version.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4132
    2.  Then I looked up the technical specifications at this Apple support link:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP4
    3. .Then I double-checked and looked up tech specs at this EveryMac link:
    http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook_pro/specs/macbook-pro-core-2-duo-2 .4-15-santa-rosa-specs.html
Both links say two USB 2.0 ports.  I just took it for granted that they are both correct.
    Much appreciation for your help.

  • SCCP IP PHONE 7911 ERROR WHILE UPGRADING FIRMWARE

    Hi All ,
I am  experiencing problem while upgrading Cisco IP phone model 7911 in my VoIP setup as my Cisco CM server is using firmware version ‘SCCP11.8-3-4SR1S’ for these phones. Whereas new 7911 IP phones coming from Cisco as RMA these days are having latest firmware version ‘SCCP11.9.2(1)’. While resetting the phones to factory defaults they are getting hanged during upgradation and giving error ‘ term11.default’. As per my research, i cannot upgrade or downgrade phone firmware from sccp11.8-3-4 to sccp11.9.2 and vice versa  directly.
So i read the release notes of 9.2.1and  there I found, i have to upgrade phone first in 8.5.2 base release and then I can go any version.
But when I am upgrading my phone into base release 8.5.2, sometime my phone prompt me ''ERROR'' on display and boot from its previous ifirmware and sometime it prompt ''UNPROVISIONED'' on the display and phone get stuck there.
    My CUCM version is                     -6.1.2.1000
    IP PHONE FIRMWARE version     -SCCP11.8-3-4SR1S(existing)
    NEW load version                         -SCCP11.8.5.2
So request to all expert please suggest me to fix my issue.
    regards

    Hi All ,
Anyone have any solution for my issue ?.

  • Constant rebuffering stream interruptions since 12.1.2.27 upgrade

Home sharing appears broken since I upgraded to iTunes 12.1.2.27.  An old XP desktop manages my large Library, although the actual iTunes media folder is on an external hard drive.  I generally share to a Windows 7 laptop in another room and to an iPad.  Since loading 12.1.2.27 on both Windows computers, I rarely get to listen to a whole song before the sound stops and a Window pops up on the laptop titled "Opening URL" with the content "Rebuffering Stream".  If I don't click stop, this Window will persist forever.  (By the way, when this Window was up, I couldn't navigate to this site - once it was closed, no problem).  On clicking close, sometimes when I hit the play button again in iTunes, I restart the interrupted song.  Other times, a Window pops up saying Opening URL, but not Rebuffering Stream.  If I click stop on that window, generally the shuffle play list is regenerated with different songs, but again, the rebuffering stream window is very quick to return.
The Music player on the (latest iOS) iPad (which has no local content other than the unwelcome U2 album) is a little more robust, but is also (even more than usually), subject to sudden losses of audio, paging quickly through the songs on shuffle play without playing any of them, displaying the play or pause button randomly without a relationship to whether the song listed is paused or playing, and requiring the sometimes 20 to 30 minute process of reacquiring my shared library.  Again, it's a big library, > 230 GB.

    Hello, bobzim.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here are the best troubleshooting steps to go through when experiencing streaming issues with Home Sharing.
    4. Check your network connection
Home Sharing requires a home network with an active Internet connection. All the devices you want to use with Home Sharing need to be connected to your home network.
    In addition, verify that:
All your devices are connected to the same router, if you have multiple routers. Using multiple routers may prevent discovery between these devices.
Your devices are not using a Virtual Private Network (VPN), or that they are all on the same VPN. A VPN may isolate the device and cause connectivity disruptions.
If you have a router set up with a guest network, make sure all devices are either connected to the guest network and devices on the guest network are allowed to communicate with each other, or switch all devices to the primary network on your router.
If your computer is asleep or shutdown, or iTunes is closed, there's no access to the shared iTunes library. Wake up or start the computer and open iTunes to regain access to that library.
Your router needs to be up-to-date. If you are using an AirPort or Time Capsule, learn about firmware updates. If you are using a router from another manufacturer, contact the manufacturer to inquire about available updates.
    5. Check Firewall settings
If you have a firewall enabled in your router or computer, make sure that the firewall is not blocking communication between your computers. Home Sharing uses TCP port 3689 and UDP port 5353 to communicate with shared iTunes libraries.
In addition, Apple TV and Mac computers will use port 123 to set the time automatically. Incorrect date and time on either the computer or Apple TV can cause errors for Home Sharing and connections in general.
If you are unsure whether your router has a firewall or the required ports open, test additional devices or another network to help isolate the issue. If the devices tested work on another home network, it is your router or network configuration.
For Mac OS X, you don't have to edit the port addresses, but make sure the firewall in Apple () menu > System Preferences > Security > Firewall are not set to:
    Block all incoming connections
    Allow only essential services
If you use another security/firewall software on your computer or router, follow this article or contact the manufacturer or check the documentation on how to open TCP ports 123 and 3689 as well as UDP ports 123 and 5353.
For more information on ports used by Apple products, see Well known TCP and UDP ports used by Apple software products.
    7. Restart your network router
Restart your home network router using the method recommended in documentation from the manufacturer. This may include disconnecting the power cord for thirty seconds or more.
Note: During this period, Internet services such as a VoIP-based phone will not work, and any additional routers may need to be reset in sequence.
    Troubleshooting Home Sharing
    Cheers,
    Jason H.

  • Upgraded DSL Modem, Now Bonjour Doesn't Work

I upgraded my Qwest DSL Modem from an ActionTec GT-701 to an ActionTec PK5000 and now my Quicksilver G4 is not available via Bonjour (I'm using it as a print server). I switched back to the old router, and it works again, so the problem def. is the new router. I tried to see if the known ports are blocked (http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1629), but they don't appear to be - I turned off UPnP (Universal Plug N Play) just to be sure it didn't conflict but no joy. Somebody else out there seems to have had similar problems (http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Mac-printing-and-scanning/Beware-of-the-ActionTec-P K5000-for-wireless-printing-with-HP/td-p/267515) but I'm not sure if it's a direct match.
I upgraded to make my VOIP smoother, due to the integrated Ethernet switch in the modem. But I'm moving back to the old modem for now, and using an external switch.
Anybody have any feedback on how to configure the new DSL modem correctly so Bonjour will work? I did notice an error in the system log:
"mDNSResponder: NOTE: Wide-Area Service Discovery disabled to avoid crashing defective DNS relay 192.168.0.1."
Could that be the trouble? I did try to fix the DNS settings on the modem. Again, no success.

    Thanks for that.
Probably has an Application Layer Gateway (ALG) for SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) which is something iChat uses, that can not be changed from pushing SIP data to port 5060.
SIP is also used by SIP/VoIP phones which gets around Long Distance charges so many ISPs block it until you pay for the "Extra Service" which a few years ago was open anyway.
There was an International agreement that all SIP apps and equipment would use port 5060-5063. It was supposed to be accessible on a pass-through basis from one Internet Server to another but ISPs seem to have classed end users as a non through connections.
Thomson-Alcatel have had a SIP Binding as they call it since there models could run Version 3 firmware. (You had to telnet into the device to turn it off)
At version 5 firmware they changed it so that it could only be partially turned Off.
Thomson-Alcatel make devices branded for other people including the HOME HUB from BT (Formerly British Telecom) who own 99% of Landline connections in the UK (they Wholesale out both Land lines and Broadband DSL connections).
Various ISPs that supply modems often have them supplied with Branded Firmware on there. It tends to be these Branded versions that cause problems (Although the Thomson-Alcatel issue is below the Web Browser interface level).
This may give clues as to where to look and how your device maybe accessed (telnet).

  • Voice dialer installed unsolicitedly after 4.2.2 to 4.3 upgrade

It is about Xperia Z Tablet LTE with Sony original firmware on it.
Upgrade from 4.2.2 to 4.3 has been conducted.
Upon the upgrade the user realized presense of new app, the voice dialer.
It was definitely not installed before the upgrade.
The tablet is a data-only device. Classical voice calls are not supported.
If voice calls than only via packet based connections.
So user wanders how the dialer can help on Tablet.
If it can help while dialing on when VoIP-ing there is no possibility to say the dialer
what a VoIP solution is in use, where installed and where it is to be found.

  • Cisco 2960x - auto qos voip cisco-phone on access ports

After configuring "auto qos voip cisco-phone" on a stack of 2960x switches, we later noticed that after a power cycle (config was saved first) it went missing when doing a "show run" from the interface configs, on one of the switches (g1/0/1-48 had it applied, then after power cycle it didn't show).  However, doing a "show auto qos interface" shows it is still applied to all interfaces g10/1-48.
I try to do "auto qos voip cisco-phone" again on g1/0/1-48, and it shows this:
    SwitchStack01(config-if-range)#auto qos voip cisco-phone
    AutoQoS Error: AutoQoS already configured
% Range command terminated because it failed on GigabitEthernet1/0/1
If I attempt to remove "auto qos voip cisco-phone", it shows this:
    SwitchStack01(config-if-range)#no auto qos voip cisco-phone
    AutoQoS Error: AutoQoS not configured
% Range command terminated because it failed on GigabitEthernet1/0/1
When I do a "show run", it is no longer displayed for the first switch of the stack. So is it still applied to the interfaces or not?   Is this a bug?  Has anyone else experienced this?  This has happened to at least a couple stacks of 2960x's we have.
    Thanks!

It appears to be a bug in the code.  Open a TAC ticket with Cisco and send them the output and the IOS version you are using so they can help you resolve the issue.   Most likely, they recommend an upgrade.

  • UCCX 8 VOIP Monitor Subsystem - Out of Service

    All,
Upgraded CCX 701(SR5) to CCX 8.0.2 Premium HA enabled. Both Servers were IN SERVICE. Did a Patch upgrade to UCCX 8.0.2SU1. Noticed that VOIP Monitor Subsystem on both servers showing as OUT OF SERVICE. Downgraded to CCX 8.0.2, still get this Subsystem OUT OF SERVICE.
From RTMT, it shows the following error:
    %MIVR-SS_VOIPMON_SRV-3-VOIP_OPERATION_ERROR:VOIP Subsystem Operation Error: Module Name=LRMConnection.readMSG, A specific description for a trace=erroris: ,Exception=java.io.EOFException
Anyone kows how to fix this problem???
    Thanks.

    Hi all,
I had this same problem and similar/same versions.
Restarting Cisco DESKTOP VoIP Monitor Service (on sub - which had VoIP Monitor Service showing 'OOS') made no impact. I don't think there is any real relationship between DESKTOP VoIP monitor service and VoIP monitor service?
Anyway, restarted the same service on Pub - no change.
Tried restarting various sub services including CCX Engine - no change.
I found I had to restart publisher Cisco Unified CCX Engine, then go to sub and do the same once pub was back to all 'in service'.
I then found that my sub's 'Log Manager' under 'Cisco Unified CCX Serviceability' had gone to PARTIAL SERVICE.
I restarted 'Cisco Unified CCX Serviceability' on sub - which had to be done via CLI.
It appeared to restart no issue - but refreshing the list of services in the GUI several times - it still was in PARTIAL.
Restarted Sub appliance (bounced the server) from CLI, after reboot - all services were back up and IN SERVICE.
Thankfully I didn't have to restart my Pub - all services... IN SERVICE on pub & sub
    Resolved.
PS. No calls were dropped for us.
