Voltage question for Inspire 5200 5.1 Speakers

Hi, I'm new to the forum, so I'm not sure if this question has been answered in the past, but...
I just moved back States-side after living in Pakistan for about 6 months, and I brought my Pakistan-bought Inspire 5200 speakers. I don't know if I should buy a voltage converter or whatever.
On the AC adaptor, it says "PRL. :230V~50Hz 320 mA... SEC. : 2V ~ 4.2A". I read up a little on this stuff, and, unless I'm mistaken, in Pakistan, the voltage is 220V and 50Hz, while in the US, its 110V and 60Hz.
Is it safe to use the speakers here WITHOUT a voltage converter or a step-down transformer?
If it isn't safe, then what specific things do I need to pick up from Radioshack to make sure my speakers work and don't short-circuit or fry?
Thanks.

If you use the right step down transformer than it's perfectly safe. The problem is, step down transformer worsen the sound a lot unless you use the very expensi've one. But if you can't hear the different than it's good then, trust your own ear anyway. I think the best way is to change the adaptor.

  • Inspire 5200 5.1 speakers only two working

    Hello,
I recently bought the inspire 5200 5.1 speakers. I connected everything properly and well tried them, but I got output from the front left and right speakers. The center speaker, and the left and right rear speakers produced no output.
Then I bought a 6 channel sound card, and tried to hook everything up again, but it was still the same result. All the speakers are working cause I tried them all. It seems that the lower panel insertion points for speakers don't seem to be working, or it's something that I am missing out.
    Thanks

    creek,
You may have to check with your sound card manufacturer for special setting to upmix the Stereo to the rest of the speaker.
If you are using Creative 5.1 sound card, you can refer to the link for the CMSS upmix feature.

  • How to connect my Inspire 5200 5.1 Speakers to my XBOX? Pls Help!!!

    Dear all,
I am in need of dire assistance to connect my Creative Inspire 5200 5.1 Speakers to my XBOX. If possible, I would like to maintain the full 5.1 functionality when watching my movies and playing games (that support 5.1 sound).
What other cables, adaptors, connectors do I need? Pls help... I am really not experienced with TV electronics, wires and stuff.

    Ok, I did a search & found a post by NsOmNiA930 :
    >>>
Or, you could make a custom analog adapter and get fake 5.1.You'll need 2 RCA couplers (or a coupler with 4 RCA Female jacks), a dual RCA to single 1/8 mini jack adapter, a single 1/8 female - 2 /8 male adapter, 2 /8 couplers, and a headphone splitter. It should look like this:RCA from Xbox Dual RCA CouplerRCA to 1/8" adapter(1)Female to (2)Male Adapter(2) 1/8" Coupler on Male ends of previous adapterHeadphone splitter on one of the couplersIMPORTANT! BACK MUST BE BY ITSELF ON THE CORRECT /8" END! CENTER AND FRONT SHOULD BE ON THE HEADPHONE ADAPTER! IN ORDER TO FIND THE CORRECT CHANNEL, DO A 5.1 TEST ON YOUR SPEAKERS AND CONFIGURE APPROPRIATELY!
    >>>
Ok, can some kind soul translate that into English? What are all these components(adapter, coupler, headphone jack, 1/8?) What do they look like?

  • P6N SLi platinum, Voltage questions for oc to 3Ghz

    Hello dear forumusers,
I have recently overclocked my cpu by a little (2.76 ghz instead of 2.67Ghz) however, my memory is a little bit slower because its voltage is on auto and I cannot get it on manual .
I can set the timings and speed ( 667Mhz) but it runs on 638Mhz, so I need to adjust the voltage but as said I cannot change it
Is this resolvable by updating to another bios or is it just impossible?
    Bios is v1.0
Edit, found already, page up page down does the trick

I've been experimenting a bit and now reached 2.98 Ghz with stock cooler, idle @ 25C, loaded @ 55C
The fsb:dram is 9:8 and mem is now running at 662Mhz, was 638 Mhz????
I cannot set the divider myself unfortunately, or me don't now how to (see specs for info)
One more question( you can put this post in the overclock forum if you like) I want to reach 3Ghz as a max, but as soon as I set fsb on 1500(now 1490) it will boot but within 10 to 30 min orthos will stop.
What do I have to do to get it stable, my mem is running on 1.85V as described by kingston and I raised the NB by .025V, now 1.275V and on 2980Mhz it's rocksolid, no errrors after 5 hours of orthos.
Do i have to raise the Vcore or something else, any comment is welkom
    Thanks in advance

  • Connections for Inspire 5200 on a Dell Dimension

Is anyone aware of the proper connections to utilize the built-in 5.1 audio on a Dell Dimension 8400?
Are there any suggestions on which speaker system would be the best for a Dell Dimension if I should decide to replace my speakers?
Dell's online owner's manual shows that the black jack is for surround and the white jack is for the center. I have the jack for the speaker system's FRONT speakers plugged into the surround jack and the CENTER/WOOFER plugged into the center jack.
It would be nice to have real 5.1 sound coming from my computer since it's supposed to be able to handle it without using an Audigy card. I have an Audigy card in another computer, but I don't want to pull it if I don't have to.

    cconklin,
Not sure about your onboard audio but you should connect the onboard audio Front jack to the speaker system front input jack, Rear/Surround jack to the speaker rear input jack and lastly the Center jack to the speaker Center/Subwoofer input.

  • Inspire 5600 5.1 speakers, not enough analogue inputs on receiver? help!

Hi, I need some help connecting my computer up to my Inspire 5600 speakers. I want to set up an analogue 5.1 connection, as apparently surrouund sound in many games doesn't work with optical. My problem is with the inspire 5600 receiver. It only has analogue inputs for front and rear speakers, and none for centre/subwoofer. I tried using the Creative technical support site, but for some reason my speaker set isn't listed (it has the Inspire 5200, and the I-trigue 5600, but no Inspire 5600). I checked the guides for other speaker sets to see if they were relevant, but the flash animations all show 3 analogue inputs, not the 2 that my receiver has. My speakers are a few years old, and unfortunately I don't still have the documentation that came with them.
My question is where do I plug the centre/subwoofer? Does the Inspire 5600 not actually do 5.1 for analogue? (Aside from the analogue front/rear inputs, it has an optical in, digital din and a coaxial). Does the centre/sub maybe plug into one of these instead? I'm very confused, any help would be appreciated.

Sorry I mistook it for another model, my bad. The Inspire 5.1 Digital 5600 has only two analog inputs for front and rear channels respectively. You are right, there is no orange jack on the subwoofer for this model. Last I checked, I was told that this speaker model was released before sound cards with 5.1 connections came about. So if you are doing up an analog connection, you will lose the center/subwoofer channel. However if you own a Creative sound card, you might be able to enable the CMSS feature to create a virtual surround.

  • Which speaker system is better: Inspire 5200 or 5300?

    Hi,
I'm just about to :smileyindifferent: buy new Creative speaker systems. Unfortunately, in my country and city options are scarce. Only few models are available and I am trying to get a good, decent sound, with good bass for bassy songs (i.e. dance, hip-hop), and good sound in general for PC-based games and DVDs.
I am given two choices: Creative Inspire 5200 and 5300. The big question: which one is better? I supposed that since 5300 is a bigger number than 5200, the 5300s should be better; but I may be wrong (e.g. the total RMS power of the 5200s is slightly higher than the 5300s!), so... somebody can give me a piece of advice on this?
I am willing to spend as much as USD$50.00 on my new speakers... so if someone has better speakers in mind for that price, I'm open to suggestions. With luck, I can give them a try.
    Regards.

Logic does not run on Windows computers anymore, only on Apple Hardware.

    thanks in advance,

  • Inspire 5200 5.1 - Can it run Xbox 360??

I have the Inspire 5200 5.1 system on my PC.
I can run the Xbox 360 through the PC by running the audio outputs through the 'Line In' port on my sound card. This is probably not 5.1 but it is good enough for what little I use the Xbox.
However I would lke to use the Inspire 5200 direct to the Xbox without going through the PC if it is possible WITHOUT an expensive decoder.
Is the Inspire capable of doing this?
Is it a stand alone speaker system or does it need power from another source?
If I hook the audio out from the Xbox into the 'Front' input on 'Audio Input' will this work?

This should work as the 5200s are powered speakers. However you'll need a phonox2 to stereo mini-plug adapter so you can plug it into your speakers (the green jack on the speakers (Front L/R)).

  • "Inspire 5200 5.1 HELP!!! no sound!

"Inspire 5200 5.1 HELP!!! no sound! Hey guys, i just recently got an inspire 5200 5.1 system and hooked it up. All connections are great and are connected properly to the sound card (all colors to all colors). The problem i have is that i hear absolutely no sound from the speakers. I have checekd all the settings and am unable to locate the issue. I have a soundblaster 5.1 card (2 cards so i know my card is not a problem). I also tried connecting some headphones in the volume module and i can infact hear sound from the headphones. Is it possible this is a hardware issue with ALL the speakers?
The only thing i can think of is the power source. The original power adapter was for the asian/euro market and i am in America. I have used a tiny converter switch that changes the euro interface (2 long circular pins) to the american outlet interface (two long rectangle pins). Could it be that the speakers are not getting sufficient power somehow by using this adapter? Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

  • Inspire 5200 - Cable Extension and Switch Box

Hello, I am looking for the Inspire 5200 cable (green, black, pink), which can be used to extend the default wire that comes with the product.
    1) Is it possible to get a connector which can be used to extend this cable?
    2) I have connected my 5.1 speakers to my Philips DVD Player - its working great. Can I get a switch (something like the keyboard/monitor/video switch box) to connect both PC and DVD Player?
    Thank you.

  • Inspire 5200 - Only 3 satellites work.

    Hello,
I just purchased a set of Inspire 5200 but when I connect them to my PC, only the two satellites connected to the RCA's marked as "front speakers" and the one marked as "center speaker" work. The satellites that I connect to the RCA's marked as "rear speakers" don?t work.
I don't have a special sound card. I'm just using the regular card that comes integrated with the motherboard. I wasn?t told at the store where I bought the speakers that I would need a special sound card to have all of the speakers work. Do I need a special card to have sound in the 5 satellites?
I would also like to know if there's a way to use the 5200 with my DVD-Karaoke unit, and what kind of cables or adapters would I need. The DVD unit has the regular RCA outputs and the digital output.
Thank you for your kind help.

Thank you for the reply Cat.
I figured out this too late and the store didn't explain that to me, but anyways, I will get a Sound Blaster card, but I was wondering if I could buy an external card, such as the "USB Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit External" unit, and use it with the Karaoke unit too. I realize that this unit I mention doesn't have its own Power Supply input, and therefore I assume it must take its power from the USB port. Is this correct? If so, is there a way to provide power to the unit or would you recommend another card/option, as I'm really satisfied with the quality sound provided by the speakers, and I would like to use then with the Karaoke too.
    Thank you again.
    Best regards,

  • Creative Inspire 5200 - Bass crackle

    Hi,
I have creative inspire 5200 connected to Philips DVD Player. The combination works fine with less bass level. When i increase the bass level, i am experiencing crackle in subwoofer where as satellite speaker works fine(no distortion in sound). The distortion is not continuous, it comes and goes off(once in while). Please let me know the solution for this.
    Regards
    Abhinandan

(Re: Creative Inspire 5200 - Bass crackle, abhinandan_gs,
I suspect you're just overdriving the subwoofer input, and when you have an LFE signal, you're experiencing digital clipping.
CL speakers are designed to accept an LFE-level signal which is 10dB softer than standard line-level. The DVD player is putting out line-level, and then the speakers are amplifying it +10db further, which puts it out of balance with the others. To test this, disconnect the subwoofer cable and see if the crackle goes away. I expect you will still have bass coming from the subwoofer, because the normal bass is in the non-LFE channels, and the speaker crossover will redirect that to the subwoofer, but I don't know what kind of bass management the DVD player might also do. If you think that's the problem, the next thing to do is to lower the subwoofer output 0dB before it reaches the speaker input. If you can't do that with the DVD player's controls, we can go into how to add a simple volume control to the subwoofer cable connection.

  • Inspire 5200 problems

I have an Inspire 5200/Audigy 2 ZS combination that has worked fine for a couple of years (the speaker system has worked fine since I bought it in '02). However, after having updated the audigy drivers, I noticed (during a speaker test) that the left/right front speakers are at a normal volume, and the center/left and right rear speakers are very faint--so faint, in fact, I thought they were not working until I cranked up the volume. I've removed the drivers and reinstalled them, made sure that all physical connections were fine. I've checked volume settings and ensured that 5.1 setup was in the control panel. I can't find the Creative utility, though, that allowed me to change the volume levels for each individual speaker. What do I do now? Thanks.

KokChoy-CL thanks for your advice but i do not think it
Is related to sound card or....,i mean sound card...is ok ; however , something is wrong about entries of the speakers. Before i formatted my pc ,i had decided to take off some speakers. Then i tried to use them again but there was no sound coming from 3 of the speakers. After that i tought format would fix it but it did not work although i set everything properly. Today i format my pc again...and i noticed that the working-2-entry of the speakers are not working and the other non-working-2 entry of speakers are working (there is no problem related to speakers, they are all fine). I really do not know what to do. One more thing, when i take off the centre subwoofer's cable, the centre speaker and left and right speakers are working but when i put on centre subwoofer's cable 3 of the speaker including centre speaker are not working and the other 2 of the speaker are working.Could anyone tell me how to fix this problem? If you have no idea ..can you tell me how can i get the CD which is given with this product or there is sound control program (which is in the CD) i barely remember..''soundmax...'' or something else..Does anyone know how can i get that program? Thanks for your attention..
