Volume changing on patch change

Hi everyone
I'm fairly new to mainstage.  There are a couple of patches I've created with multiple software instruments that are always being set to mute (not in the fader section but in the midi volume section at the top of the channel strip) whenever I change patches.  I've discovered that if I change the Parameter Values > On Patch Change to "Keep Current Value" it doesn't do this.  But I don't think I want that setting.  Can someone explain it to me fully?  When I have it set to "Reset to Saved Value" I am making sure that I save it with the voliume up before changing patches, but it's still reverting to no volume as soon as I switch back.

have you a midi controller connected to Mainstage ? Do you see Midi activity when you change patches ?

Main "Play Control" volume changes on its own when I open these programs, and when they're closed the main volume resets to where it was before the program was opened.
Surely I'm not the only one who has had this problem before.. I've had the problem with both Creative soundcards I've owned, before and after different drivers installations.
It can be very irritating and can potentially lead to damaged speakers if I'm not paying close attention to what my various volume knobs are set at before and after I open these programs.
I appreciate any and all input, thankyou.

I had to edit to reflect its Mavericks 10.9

So in the last few days I’ve noticed that pressing my volume change keys actually isn’t changing the volume on my macbook pro at all. When I press the volume up or down keys, it makes the recognisable pop sound but stays at the same volume while the squares go up or down. I mute it but my computer still makes sound. It’s the same with the volume control up the top of the screen, too. I slide it up and down and it doesn’t change the volume at all. The only way I can change the volume is with my speakers or the program I’m in (iTunes, VLC etc). I restarted and it seems to be okay then I go to change it a couple minutes later and it’s back to not working again.
I’ve checked my settings- the “use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard fuction keys” is not switched on, and I have tried a suggestion of moving the com.apple.systempreferences.plist file out of the library and onto the desktop and restarting and neither of those seem to make any difference whatsoever. I’ve tried to find online forums but the only suggestions I found were those two and they didn’t work.
I’m just annoyed because I usually have the worst luck with technology but my macbook had been going strong and I got it because of the apparent lack of things that could go wrong, but of course even if there is one thing that could go wrong it will happen to me.
    Please help!

So even if I just ask to pay them to replace the lock button they won't because my screens are third-party?
Apple does not repair devices beyond replacing the screen on some models or a battery replacement.  They replace the ENTIRE device.
For the Out of Warranty replacement cost, you could have gotten a fully functional replacement device.  Instead you chose to spend less to get only the screen replaced and continue to live with additional issues.
Apple will not touch the device now.  They will know that it was opened elsewhere and that the replacement screen is not original.

  • Opportunities with volume changes

Our company has opportunities that can bring in revenue over several months, quarters, or even years. More often than not, a volume trend will be associated with the revenue.
Is there a way to properly forecast the volume changes within a particular opportunity, or do I need to have our sales team create a new opportunity each time the the unit volume adjusts?
    For Example:
    Opportunity XYZ:
    Q1 2009 = 1000 units x $1 = $1000
    Q2 2009 = 2000 units x $1 = $2000
    Q3 2009 = 3000 Units x $1 = $3000
    Q3 2009 = 1500 Units x $1 = $1500
Thank you in advnace for your help.

Thank you for the feedback. Yes the product revenue object will address my needs. However, its not very intuitive for the sales team to use. The opportunity has sales stage, the revenue has sales stage... they both have closed dates. Its somewhat of a mess to get people up to speed. I have found it much easier to not use the revenue object and keep it simple within the Opportunity details.

  • Wild volume changes thru Home Theater System

I have a Sunfire Theater Grand system hooked up by HDMI cable from DVR to HT. HDMI from HT to TV. Optical Audio from DVR to HT from HT to TV. For some reason I am getting large volume changes.  It seems to be switching from stereo to Dolby Digital would be my guess.  An easy example that really bugs me is that when i watch the local news the dolby digital comes through perfect then we go to national news and the audio I believe must go to stereo because the center channel is non existent. This also happens when watching shows and then a commericial comes on and blows you out of the house.  Is there any way to have the audio transmit the same for all reception?  I didnt have this problem with Dish Network. This is so frustrating.

    Edvander wrote:
Acutally the audio is digital on all channels (not switching to stereo).  It just has huge volume changes between programing and commercials.  Pretty frustrating.  Does anyone else have this problem?
There could be two issues at work.  The first is how your receiver decodes and outputs DD2.0 vs DD5.1.  The second is relates to the audio levels on the channels themselves, including whether or not the content is encoded with dialogue normalization
It is very common for channels to insert commercials at higher volume levels.  Sometimes this is done on purpose, and other times it is a specific to the settings on the commercial insertion equipment and/or the encoded levels on the commercial source.  Verizon passes most video and audio as is, so many of the differences you hear are due to the source content.  On most channels, Verizon does not process and adjust the audio levels as DirecTV and Dish Network do.
You might check to see whether your processor has a dialogue normalization setting.  Most Dolby Digital 5.1 programs are encoded with a dialogue normalization value, which is meant to equalize volume between DD5.1 encoded content on a particular channel.  When this setting is enabled, it usually serves to reduce the volume levels on DD5.1 programs encoded with dialogue normalization, and then you may hear a volume spike when you are hit with commercials and other channels that are not encoded in that way.  If dialogue normalization is already enabled on your receiver, you might disable it add and observe the difference on your system.
Some newer receivers do have a built-in audio adjustment feature (ex: Audyssey Dynamic Volume, Dolby Volume).  This is meant to equalize the volume levels across different channels and sources, much like DirecTV does with their signals.

  • Sudden volume change in a region

    Hello all--
I am doing a piece that's quite repetitive, using 2-measure regions that I have repeated as needed doing option-drag. On one track, one region, and one only, has a huge volume jump; I'm talking about 10-12 db! I can't find anything to account for it. Velocities are all the same, nothing done in the mixer (though the volume change is registering loud and clear on the fader). Is there something I'm missing? I could dip the fader using automation for this region, but that's a workaround, of course, and besides, since I'm a relative newbie, I'd like to learn something if there's a more "elegant" solution.
    Thanks in advance!
    later,
    John

    Hi again--
I fixed the problem with a gentle hint from over on Dave's Logic Pro Help board. I had done a real Stupid Newbie Trick: accidentally dragged one region on top of another identical one, therefore intensifying it! Duhhh... Well, it might be good to have a way of seeing that's happened, since it doesn't show up in any obvious way in the Piano Roll Editor or the Event List. But I'm not excusing myself. Live, admit stupidity, learn... Onward and upward!
    later,
    John
PS Ben, there are more Tenneys than you might think! In fact, there's another John Tenney (my full name) who's also a musician! (not a professional violinist like me, but still...)

  • Recordable Volume Change Control Number?

Does any one know the midi control number that Garageband 09 uses to record volume changes on a software instrument track?
I'm not talking about the standard Midi control number 7 for volume - this only controls the left-right fader in the track header and Garageband does not record volume changes to this fader.
There's a value from 1 to 127 that will record volume changes as a part of the track itself. Does anyone know what that number is? Or does anyone have the table for all the control numbers that Garageband uses, or can anyone provide a link to such a table of such control numbers?
    Thanks.

  • Why is the volume changer button up so high on the new apple headphones?

On the newest Apple Headphones, I was wondering why the headphones volume changer button so high. It is difficult to try to change the volume when listening to music because i cant see the volume changer button.

I assume that you did not check before buying, if you had you would have seen that your Mac is too old for Airplay Mirroring to work:
    Supported Macs
AirPlay Mirroring in OS X Mountain Lion takes advantage of the hardware video encoding capabilities of 2nd and 3rd Generation Intel Core processors. Hardware video encoding allows AirPlay Mirroring to efficiently deliver high frame rates while maintaining optimal system performance. The following Mac models have processors that support AirPlay Mirroring:
    iMac (Mid 2011 or newer)
Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer)
MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer)
And if you bought ML solely for that function you should remove it from your machine and get a refund.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

  • Does "Export all tracks as audio files" output HyperDraw volume changes?

Does "Export all tracks as audio files" output HyperDraw volume changes?
    Thanks

I'm pretty sure it just collates all the Regions on each Track to give one file per Track. This would imply that automation would not be included.
To be certain, you could make up a quick Project with one Region & an automated fade, & see what happens; but I would bet you just get the audio, not the automation.

  • Volume change 'clicks'?

I've noticed that on few occasions after the 10.4.4 upgrade, my volume has behaved strangely, when changing it using the keyboard shortcuts -- the volume increases or decreases lags behind my keypresses, and my speakers emit a soft, percussive clicking noise as I make the changes.
At first I thought it had something to do with my processor load, but it seems to do it even during regular use. It seems to only happen when I'm running it off the battery -- on one occasion when I plugged it into AC power, the problem disappeared. It also seems to emit a single click every time I select Sound in my Preferences pane when I have the problem. Opening the Sound preferences also seems to temporarily relieve it of the laggy, clicking behavior. Again, this problem is intermittent, and the described Sound preference-click only happens when the volume change problem arises.
Anyone have any ideas? I don't really, besides that it might have something to do with 10.4.4 and battery power.

Mine clicks too, and has always done so. I think it's called positive feedback and is quite intentional. The volume of the clicks is in proportion to the volume setting, but other than when at a very low volume I wouldn't expect it to vanish even when plugged in. The laggy behaviour however, I'm sure that's intentional ! Are you running a heavy load of other programs? I don't use audio much so I'm probably not the right chap to try to figure out what's happening there. Do you have any other audio programs running that might have to be notified of a change in volume, thereby slowing things down?
    Best wishes, Max

  • Random volume changes!

    Hi,
The volume on certain tracks suddenly change without automation being present on the track... I've even caught the volume changing slightly and quickly while nothing is playing. (ie. track 13 for example would quickly be jumping from -6.1 to -2.4 while nothing is playing)
Has anyone esle seen this? It seems be to a bug that i've noticed since Logic 7.2 but its still happening with v8.
    Any help appreciated!
    Thanks

Is it possible you've got a midi controller assigned to track volume and it's causing the issue?

  • How to Change the Volume Changing Sound

How can I change the volume changing sound? I don't want to turn the sound off but I dislike the sound it makes when the volume changes currently.

    Eireannsg1 wrote:
    Yea, that reason sounds silly.
There are always 1001 reasons why it isnt being done because someone just doesnt WANT to do it.
It only sounds silly to you because you don't really understand the reasoning - obviously. Back in the days of CEP, this software did have a direct link to whatever mixer was being used - almost invariably the internal Windows one. And it was removed. A lot of sound devices simply don't provide links into their mixer panels any more - you run them standalone. On top of that, sound devices these days don't always use the same driver system, and also a lot of devices access Audition by external linking software, like ASIO4ALL. All of these things combined make it not as simple as you seem to think to implement something like this.
So it's not a case of no-one wanting to do it - it was actively removed, because strictly speaking it's not something that Audition should be legitimately addressing. Audition is an editor, and multitrack system, not a machinery controller. That's why its internal mixer is a purely virtual device, and has no direct influence on any of the hardware, except to determine the available inputs or outputs that it addresses.
So typically with the devices I use, if I want to control the physical attributes of them I leave their control panels open, almost invariably on a second monitor. And that is entirely sufficient.

  • Volume changes automatically?

    Hey!
I've seen some similar posts but there is nothing that matches my problem.
So I got my Iphone 4s (with iOS 5.0.1) 16-11-2011 and the problem is the volume changes by it self.
Without touching the buttons the volume goes down to 0,
and this often happens when opening the phone from standby mode.
    Is there a solution?
Do you think it's a software or hardware problem?
Any feedback is appreciated, and if there is no solution the only thing left to do is to contact apple support.
    Thanks in advance.

    Any news?
I Had the exact same problem and got the phone exchaned, but the new phone have the same problem.
I noticed that this problem can be reproduced by stroking the left top side (edge) of the phone, near the volume controls. This problem affect both ring and "music" volume..
