VTP Between 3750 and 2811

Hey All,
I'm attempting to create a trunk between a 3750 and a Cisco 2811 router (with a 16 port switching module NM-16-ESW). I'm using an etherchannel trunk between the two. I'm trying to configure VTP on the 3750 (server) and make the 2811 a client. Below is a copy of the configs and output from relevant commands. Any clue why I'm not seeing vlans on the 2811?

I'm baffled why these vlans aren't showing on my 2811. Any ideas?
Thanks,

Hey All,
Thanks for the input! I was actually able to solve the issue. It appears that "sh vlans" is different on an IOS router than an IOS switch. On the router it shows sub-interface ISL/dot1q trunks to a switch. This is obviously different for me as I have a switching card. In order to see VTP in action on the router and verify it was working I actually needed to view it through the VLAN database. See below:
MPLS-TEST#vlan database

  • Trunk configuration (VTP) between 3750 and 2811

    Hi,
I have a stack of 6 Cisco Catalyst 3750G with 6 VLANs acting as a VTP server and want to establish a trunk link to my Cisco 2811 router equiped with a switching module 16 ports. Can I set the 2811 as a VTP client to propagate the VLAN info from the 3750 and configure one of the port on the switching module of the 2811 as a trunk encapsulated DOT1q and will I be able to route to the outside world.
    Thank you

I beleive the switching cards support vtp and that should be possible.

  • Comparison between 3750 and 3750-metro

    hi folks,
is there any links which will provide me on the comparison between 3750 and 3750-metro? for exapmple, isis is not support on 3750 but it support on 3750-metro. The product information from cisco site is insufficient in term of the main differences :p

    josh.w

    Hi Josh,
The Cisco Catalyst 3750 Metro Series is built for Metro Ethernet access in a customer location, enabling the delivery of more differentiated Metro Ethernet services. These switches feature bidirectional hierarchical QoS and Traffic Shaping, intelligent 802.1Q tunneling with class-of-service (CoS) mutation, VLAN translation, MPLS, EoMPLS, and Hierarchical Virtual Private LAN Service (H-VPLS) support, and redundant AC or DC power. They are ideal for service providers seeking to deliver profitable business services, such as Layer 2, Layer 3, and MPLS VPNs, in a variety of bandwidths and with different SLAs.
The metro switches have the PXF chips (which allow hierarchical QoS on the 2 "WAN" GigE ports, so several logical links can share a connection, and have soft bandwidth limits).

  • Link between 3750 and 4908 (Lx, monomode fiber)

    Hello,
    I have a new swtich a C3750 and a 4908 works very well.
    I try to link a 3750 and a 4908, my results :
    - Port of 3750 and 4908 is up when I put "speed nonegociate" . And juste few packets arrive to the 4908 and I can't ping the 4908.
    - Port of 3750 is up with "speed nonegociate", and the port of 4908 stays down....
    - Port of 3750 and 4908 stay down without "speed nonegociate" ... :(
You can see the 3750's config in attachments.
Ps : Sorry for my english, i'm a french student :)
    Thank in advance

    Hi
In recent past i had tried interfacing 3750 installed with LX SFP with third party SFPs installed in Lucent DSLAMs with speed nonegotiate on the cisco 3750 side.
We did face some kinda wierd problems after the lucent DSLAMs get rebooted or sometimes even we disconnect and reconnect the fiber it happened that we failed to get the link(connectivity).
So i would suggest to go for an original Cisco SFP make to avoid all these intermittent issues which can result in unecessary downtimes..

  • VTP between CAT3750-X and CAT4500-X

    Hi,
I have a 3750 and a 4500 that are trunked together to share vlan 10 and vlan 100 through a VTP domain - test. The VLAN 100 on my 4500 has an IP of 192.168.3.1 and the VLAN 100 on my 3750 has an IP of 192.168.3.5. Is this do-able? For some reason I can't ping itself 192.168.3.5 locally from my 3750, but I could ping it from my 4500 or any other workstations on vlan 100. I can ping 192.168.3.1 (4500) from 3750.
    Why is this the case?
I have created VLAN 10 on the 4500 with an IP of 192.168.2.249/30 so it can be an interface to connect to the next hop of 192.168.2.250/30 to my inside interface of my firewall. Again, I can ping 192.168.2.249 from my 4500, but I can't ping it from my 3750.
Any help or pointer would be greatly appreciated!
    thank you!

It's up to really as to how you do it.
There are two main options -
    1) have everything in vlan 100 and use the firewall as the default gateway.
The 4500 and the 3750 do not need to do any L3.  You can create SVIs for them in vlan 100 and give them IPs and if you want set the default gateway to be the ASA.
All clients would use the ASA as their default gateway.
Any traffic between clients and servers would not go to the ASA because they are all in the same vlan/IP subnet.
    or
    2) leave it is as it and set the default gateway for all clients to be the vlan 100 interface on the 4500. The 4500 needs to have routing enabled and a default route pointing to the ASA.
The ASA needs a route back which you have
The 3750 does not need routing enabled and can just be configured with a default gateway the same as the clients ie. the vlan 100 interface IP on the 4500.
You don't need vlan 10 on the 3750, only vlan 100.
If you are going to be creating more vlans in future it makes sense to go with the second option.
Otherwise it doesn't really matter to be honest.
Really it's up to you as either will work.

  • LACP between SRW2048 and Cisco 3750

    Hi,
I have been trying to set up a LACP link between my SRW2048 and Cisco 3750 using two gigabit ethernet links.
Whenever i plug one cable in the interface does not come back up.
I have already sucessfully been able to create a LACP link between the 3750 and a catalyst 2960 for two cables.
Both interfaces at both units are set up as trunks for Vlans 1 (default and untagged), 4, 99, 101, and 102, then the Port-channel / LAG set also as a trunk with the same vlans.
Does anyone have any ideas why the interface is not even initialising?
If i plug a SRW2048 LAG'd interface into a normal access (vlan1) port on the 3750 it works fine, and vice versa with the 3750 to the SRW2048.

The linksys documentation is a little thin on the ground all over.
However, if i have got this correct the Admin key needs to be the same for all interfaces in the same LAG for one switch i.e not the same for both ends of the cable?
As for the priority, i assumed this was to do with how the switch dealt with with interfaces were to be active if there were more in the group than could be allowed - to allow for backup links. Is this correct?
    Thanks for your reply.

  • Etherchannel between stack switches[3750] and standalone switch[3560]

    Hi,
I have 2*3750 switches in stack as core and 1*3560 switch in access layer. I want to enable ether channel between stack switch[3750A & 3750B] and 3560 switches.
Have connected  2 links from 3560 switch to stack switch, one link to 3750A and other link to 3750B. Will it work in this way as per my requirement?
or i should enabled stacking on 3560 switch too and configure cross-stack ether channel between 3750 stack and 3560 stack. i refered few cisco documents, but the cross stack etherchannel configuration example has 3750 at both end stacks.
    Rgds...
    VikramS

    Hi,
This should work fine as per you set up, the 3750 stack will be acting as one switch, which means that the ether-channel configuration should be straight forward. There is no need to stack the 3560 for this to work, also the 3560 are not stackable.
    Hope this helps.

One of my edge Huawei S5700-28C-EI stack switches  is dead, I am going to replace it with a Cisco switch Catalyst 3750 series PoE-48 via a trunk link  with GE fiber port on both ends, please see the diagram below.
                                      trunk                     trunk
       Core switchrouter<----------S5700<--------------->Cisco Catlyst 3750
I haven’t touch Cisco switch for many years, I would like to ask the following questions:
1.)      Do I need to take any precaution before connecting this Cisco switch into my Huawei network? Only one link between S5700 and C3750, so I don't need worry anout STP? Do I need to worry about Default vlan regarding trunking port?
2.)      I need to use different trucking protocol e.g. 802.1Q etc to interconnect these two switches (S5700 and Catalyst 3750), please see the following configuration:
    For C3750:
    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport trunk native vlan (What you want)
switchport trunk allowed vlan (VLANs required)
    switchport mode trunk
    spanning-tree portfast trunk
    For S5700:
    port link-type trunk
    port trunk permit vlan all
Do you think the configurations above are right?
Do I need to manually enter Duplex and speed options ?
3.)If the configurations are not right, then what are the commands for trucking port/link should I use on the Cisco switch (it uses IOS software) and Huawei switch?  Procedures of the commands would be really helpful !
Any information and help would be much appreciated.

I know the problem,When I change the native vlan of my  S5700-28C-EI ,it's just ok.

  • Vtp between 2 Catalyst switches across a router

I have in my domain :
    C3750 ---.1Q G0/1---C2821 ISR---.1Q G0/2 --- C2950
C3750 is in vtp server mode
C2821 is in vtp transparent mode
C2950 is in vtp client mode
Will my vlans be distributed from C3750 to C2950 across ?

    Hi,
    Thanks for reply.
I thought that VTP could be forwarded across c2821 but it doesn't work like a switch/router such as C3750 in vtp transparent mode.
I suppose that C2821 has not the same switching backplane architecture than C3750.
I put a trunk link cable between c3750 and c2924
and set both in the same vtp domain.
Then now I get all my level 2 vlans on C2924, but they can be routed at IP level by C2821 or C3750.

There is a null in java, but no NULL. null means no value. However, when assigning value, the following is different:Although the empty String has no special role. Null means, the referential type is not assigned (doesn't refer) to a specific object. The empty String is just another object though, so seeing it or pointing it out as something special when it actually isn't at all (no more special than new Integer(0) or new Object[0]) just adds to the confusion.

  • 7344 servo motion switching between open and closed loop operation

I have a custom end-of-line test system presently using a 4-axis 7344 servo controller to perform various functional tests on small, brushed DC motors. The system is programmed in C/C++ and uses flex motion functions to control the motor during testing. Motors are coupled to external encoder feedback and third party PWM drives running in closed-loop torque mode from an analog command signal. The system uses all four motion axis channels on the 7344 board to independently and asynchronously test up to four production motors at a time.
In closed-loop mode, the system runs without issue, satisfying the battery of testing protocols executed by this system. I now have a request to add additional test functionality to the system. This testing must be run in open loop mode. Specifically, I need to use my +/- 10v analog output command to my torque drive to send different DAC output levels to the connected motor.drive while monitoring response.
I do not believe the flex motion library or 7344 controller includes functions to easily switch between open and closed loop mode without sending a new drive configuration. I am also under the impression that I cannot reconfigure one (or more) servo controller axis channels without disabling the entire drive. As my system runs each axis channel in an asynchronous manner, any requirement to shutdown all drives each time I change modes is an unworkable solution.
I am open to all ideas that will allow asynchronous operation of my 4 motor testing stations. If the only solution is to add a second 7344 controller and mechanical relays to switch the drive and motor wiring between two separately configured servo channels, so be it. I just want to explore any available avenue before I place a price tag on this new system requirement.

    Jochen,
Thank you for the quick response. The 7344 board does an excellent job running my manufacturing motor assemblies through a custom end-of-line tester in closed loop mode. A portion of the performance history and test result couples the motor through a mechanical load and external shaft. The shaft is in contact with a linear encoder that closes my servo loop.
My new manufacturing requirement is to also sample/document how the small DC motor behaves in open loop operation. Your solution is exactly what I need to perform the additional functional tests on the product I am manufacturing. I see no reason why this cannot work. I was originally concerned that I would need to reinitialize the 7344 board after changing axis configuration. Initialization is a global event and impacts all four channels on the 7344 board.
Using flex_config_axis() to change axis configuration on a single channel without disturbing other potentially running axis channels will solve my concern. It will be several weeks before I can return to the manufacturing facility where the 7344-based testing machine is located. I will update this thread once I verify a successful result.

  • Differentiating between open and closed invoices

    Hi all
I am using a database view of tables VBRK and VRKPA  for fetching invoice list based on the customer number. Can I use  'VBRK-RFBSK = C' to differentiate between closed  and open invoices?  If not is there any other field i can use from this particular view for the same.
    Thanks

    Hi Asim,
Yes, you are absolutely right. This field give you the exact result like which billing dcoument is open and which is closed.

  • Link between Delivery and Sales Order Schedule Line

    Hi Gurus,
I have a requirement in which i need to display quantity and amount at schedule line level and also the delivery and delivery item for each schedule line.
For example, if there is a sales order O1 and item 10 for which we have 3 schedule lines and 3 deliveries as well say D1, D2 and D3.
Report should be something like this
Sales Order    Item   Schedule Line    Delivery    Del Item   Confirmed Order Qty
    O1                 10      1                       D1           10            5
    O1                 10       2                      D2            10            5
    O1                 10       3                      D3            10            4
How can i determine that a particular delivery corresponds to which schedule line of that saler order-item?
We have the link between delivery and sales order but is there any way that we can get the link of delivery at schedule line level?
    Please help.
    Regards,
    Gaurav

    Hi,
I suppose you must check with SD functional consultant and the post should also be in the logistics SD forum and not BI. But I suppose there is know specific link between the schedule line of SO to the Delivery. It is more like a bucket flow for ex.
Sale order   Item    Schedule line  qty
    SO1            Item1     Sch1            10
    SO2            Item1      Sch2           10
    Delivery Item QTy
    DO1       IT1   15
    DO2       IT1    5
In this case qty 15 is distributed over both SO1 and SO2, and SO2 ITem1 Sch2 has link to both the DOs
So I am not sure if you can establish a one to one link, please check with your SD consultants.
