W540 - Failure due to missing i/o HD light

Word of warning about TuneUp utilities AVG Zen.
Yesterday I got the offer to upgrade my license to the new PC-Tune from AVG.  Failed on the W540 with error @AVGMSI_Error1729 [0xC00706C1].
Advised to run repair file AVG_BFEfix.exe
Program says "WORK IN PROGRESS - Please be patient..." OK, it's been running for 25+ minutes. Program only has a flashing square box, no metering, or other status information.
On my other systems, AVG Zen works, but it's sole purpose seems to be to sell you other programs and license administration.  Many of these programs are vertical in nature, and claim YOUR machine as THEIRS.
So... the question is:  Is the W540 working? Cleaning something?  Is the computer locked? All this cloud business is a failure for people who work.  Adobe ruined my install of PS CC and most Cloud tech support want to log into your machine remotely.
Think carefully.  Why did Lenovo follow MS's directive and removed the HD light or WiFi light??

Using 'DriveGleam v1.12'.  Seems to work OK when there is a screen to look at (e.g. fully booted), but on boot and shut down, or MS updates, I still have no idea what gives. I have yet to get the right colors in DriveGleam.
I did get a Rikiki drive as my external backup and a USB 3.0 Lexar NOT SANDISK USB key!, as my external boot drive for True Image.  The restores are great, no issues after 20+ restores.  Maybe a USB 3.0 256gig is in the offing. No Rikiki then. The restores are relatively quick. Would be quiker with an external SSD/USB3 or to the 2nd SSD in the caddy.
Ummm let me think, added items to use as a workstation:
1) Mouse or Wacom
2) USB SD card reader
3) Rikiki
4) DVD drive (I have a fixed SSD in the DVD slot, no easy field swap)
5) USB 3 port extender AND PSU for powered ports.
6) Inline switch on power brick with neon light
7) Cables for all the workarounds.
Thank goodness the battery sticks out in the back, this partially protects the power cord from bending. Albeit, my plug is already slightly bent from accidentally lifting from the front.  I'm a klutz.

  • Bootcamp Win 7 - system restore failure due to missing drivers

    brand new MacBookAir6,2 Intel Core i7 MacOS 10.9
    Installation of Win 7 prof. 64bit via bootcamp (no problems)
    I ran a back-up of the system over my network and then tried a restore. This fails due to the fact that upon invoking the restore option with win 7 and reboot/choice of OS, I get a window asking for the language to be chosen which I cannot manipulate. Apparently, at this point no single driver is installed: neither the aplle keyboard driver nor a usb driver (tried an external usb keyboard - no success).
    This means that at this point bootcamp win7 backups are useless since they can't be addressed if the need arises.
    Suggestions welcome.

    Are you using NTFS driver in Mac OS X to WRITE to your MyBook?
    If so, switch to Paragon Software's. Demo is fine.
    MyBooks are often trouble, though usually under OS X.
    In Windows, do chkdsk on it.

  • ICal event invitation failures due to missing/malformed email addresses

    These problems, although slightly different, appear in both 10.5.8 and 10.6.1. I don't see in the release notes that this was addressed in 10.6.2, but I have not installed it yet.
    In 10.5.8, sometimes when a user is invited through the iCal invitation, an email is (attempted) to send with no email address in the to field; it's completely blank, and the mail server rejects it with a bounce message. Below is an example of the bounce message:

    OK, I've discovered the 10.6 issue is a bug in Kerio Mail Server 6.7.2 and is scheduled to be fixed with the release of 6.7.3.
    The 10.5 issue remains open.

  • ORA-19612: datafile 0 not restored due to missing data

    Hello,
    I'm testing a restore of the controlfile. The database is in archivelog mode and autobackup is set to ON. I successfully did a full backup and backup as copy database.
    To test I did the following:
    - note the DBID
    - shutdown the database
    - renamed both controlfiles:
    $ mv /u02/rcat/control01.ctl /u02/rcat/control01.ctl_old
    $ mv /u02/fra/rcat/control02.ctl /u02/fra/rcat/control02.ctl_old
    When I try to restore the controlfile form autobackup I receive the following error. What could be reason please?

  • Datafile not restored due to missing or corrupt data

    Hi all,
    I was asked to restore a RMAN backup which we got from another region, the rman backup contains controlfiles and datafiles as compressed backupset.
    oracle version is 10.2.0.3.0
    aix version 6
    First, I have restored the control file using the below command:
    run
    +{+
    allocate channel t1 type disk;
    restore controlfile from '/oracle/app/prod/rman/cf_t799873684_s17_p1';
    alter database mount;
    +}+
    Second, I have cataloged the backup piece:
    catalog backuppiece '/oracle/app/prod/rman/df_t794754324_s12_p1';
    catalog backuppiece '/oracle/app/prod/rman/df_t793567544_s13_p1';
    catalog backuppiece '/oracle/app/prod/rman/df_t731097654_s14_p1';
    catalog backuppiece '/oracle/app/prod/rman/df_t792538698_s15_p1';
    catalog backuppiece '/oracle/app/prod/rman/df_t792183472_s16_p1';
    catalog backuppiece '/oracle/app/prod/rman/cf_t799873684_s17_p1';
    Third, used below command to restore:
    +run {+
    allocate channel t1 type disk;
    allocate channel t2 type disk;
    allocate channel t3 type disk;
    allocate channel t4 type disk;
    set newname for datafile 01 to '/oracle/app/oradata/dbprod/system01.dbf';
    set newname for datafile 02 to '/oracle/app/oradata/dbprod/undotbs01.dbf';
    set newname for datafile 03 to '/oracle/app/oradata/dbprod/sysaux01.dbf';
    set newname for datafile 04 to '/oracle/app/oradata/dbprod/users01.dbf';
    set newname for datafile 06 to '/oracle/app/oradata/dbprod/datafile005.dbf';
    set newname for datafile 07 to '/oracle/app/oradata/dbprod/datafile006.dbf';
    set newname for datafile 08 to '/oracle/app/oradata/dbprod/datafile007.dbf';
    set newname for datafile 09 to '/oracle/app/oradata/dbprod/datafile008.dbf';
    set newname for datafile 10 to '/oracle/app/oradata/dbprod/datafile009.dbf';
    set newname for datafile 11 to '/oracle/app/oradata/dbprod/datafile010.dbf';
    set newname for datafile 14 to '/oracle/app/oradata/dbprod/datafile001.dbf';
    set newname for datafile 15 to '/oracle/app/oradata/dbprod/datafile002.dbf';
    set newname for datafile 16 to '/oracle/app/oradata/dbprod/datafile003.dbf';
    set newname for datafile 17 to '/oracle/app/oradata/dbprod/datafile004.dbf';
    set newname for datafile 18 to '/oracle/app/oradata/dbprod/indfile001.dbf';
    set newname for datafile 19 to '/oracle/app/oradata/dbprod/indfile002.dbf';
    set newname for datafile 20 to '/oracle/app/oradata/dbprod/indfile011.dbf';
    restore database;
    switch datafile all;
    recover database;
    +}+
    But while restoring, I got error like below:

  • Background process BCTL_** terminated due to missing confirmation

    Hi Experts,
    I have a step in Process chain for activation of a request in DSO. But its failing frequently with error message "Background process BCTL_* terminated due to missing confirmation*". I tried to remove the step from process chain and rebuild it, this avoided the failure for a day. But its failing again at same place.
    Can you please guide if anything can be done to stop this failure in future?
    Regards,
    Nirmal

    Hi,
    I also faced the same issue.
    Error when activate DSO in SAP BI :          "Background process BCTL_*   terminated due to missing confirmation"
    I Resolved  by the following way:
    Steps :
    1.ODS Activation window > Click the button u201CActivate in parallelu201D> Changed    the Number of process  3  to 1-->Save
    2.ODS Activation window >Click the button u201CGet SIDs in parallelu201D> Changed    the Number of process  3  to  1--> Save
    Then start the activation
    Successfully completed.
    Hope it will help.
    Thanks &  Best Regards,
    Hema

  • Write Failure due to packet loss

    Hi All,
    Is it possible to occur a cache put failure due to packet loss. The below JMX report log (network-health-detail.txt) shows that TX success as 0.9999 for NodeId(8 PROXY node) and RxSuccess shows 0.9999 (node id 9 which is a STORAGE) exactly the same time.
    At the same time I have inserted a cache item which went missing in the cache.
    Is it possible to correlate the cache loss with the below data.
    Please correct me if my understanding is work. Really looking forward for some expert look at this.
    Regards
    Srinivas

    It is more likely that you had other issues that caused your data to go "missing". Lost packets would be resent anyway so should get there eventually. The success rates of 0.9999 would be fine, you would be lucky to get a success rate of 1.0 all the time unless your cluster was not doing much.
    When you say the data goes "missing" what do you mean. Presumably you do a put to get data into the cache, how to you try to get it back - a get or a query using a Filter.
    What classes are you using for the keys - this can be important and can affect whether your cache works as you expect it to.

  • Install failure due to "faulty DVD" problem: only with Family Pack?

    After going through a few threads on the subject of installation failure due to tbe pseudo-faulty DVD, I have the impression that many users mention that they were using a Family Pack install DVD or in one case a "drop in". The former is my case. Please post if you have had this problem with Leopard install, and whether you were using a single licence, family pack or drop in. It's just a hunch, but perhaps this problem only affects a specific set of disks.

    I believe that they are holding back on sending a new DVD until they know why there were defective ones. I read somewhere that they require a new SKU so that they will actually be a separate batch.
    Can you borrow a DVD from anyone to install Leopard? You certainly would be allowed to legally do that. I am surmising that Apple is overloaded with requests for a replacement DVD and really want to make sure it works. You know that old thing about "fool me once..."
    Stuff happens - but with Leopard, a lot of stuff sure happened at once. They sold 2 million DVDs. If only 5% have problems, that's a lot of problems to deal with, one at a time.
    In time it will sort itself out, but in the meantime the rooms are full of smoke

    Hi Nat,
    Thanks a lot for your response.
    I am running this ETL task from DAC. This task is a part of Daily Full load ETL. As i mentioned earlier, this task fails sporadically and failing till now. After restarting the ETL, it gets completed.
    Please let me know if you have any question.
    Thanks,

  • Block documents due to missing business partner

    Hello to everyone,
    I have problem with blocked documents in GTS due the missing external business partner account. I have to give for every blocked document, the business partner account manually in order to release the document. Eventhough the vendor master record has been correctly maintained, also on purchasing organization, I can not understand why the business partner account is missing in GTS. In Screedshot you can see first line is always blocked with block sign.
    Can anybody help me to find the solution for that ?  Thanks in advance.
    Please see attached screenshot (unfortunately avaliable in German language only, I hope you would understand).

    Hi Aman,
    Thanks for your replay. I have again tested the Business parter transfer by changing in name field. The data was transfered sucessfully from R/3 to GTS.

    Hi Vyas,
       I am getting error like below.
    Asset values cannot be displayed due to missing texts
    Message no. AY363
    Diagnosis
    The values of the selected asset cannot be displayed. Text elements are missing in logon language EN.
    System response
    Processing is terminated.
    Procedure
    First, check if you are logged on in a language that is maintained for this system.
    This error can also occur, if the company code of the selected asset is assigned to a chart of depreciation that is not fully maintained.
    In many cases, the problem can be corrected by re-importing the missing texts from the reference chart of depreciation. You can do this using repair program RACORR14. Refer to SAP note 0773639 for more information.
    Thanks
    Ravi
