Want a random sorting of photos in album/slideshow

This is killing me. I have 238 photos that I would like to be randomly sorted so that I can then create a permenant slideshow. I certainly do not want to manually sort each one!! It is my understanding that you cannot create a random or shuffled slideshow (if you want it permenant and exported to iDVD) so I thought I would just have the photos sorted randomly to begin with. Can't seem to do that either. What is the deal? Please help!!

Unfortunately that option went out with iPhoto 4. Any randomness will have to be done manually in an album before creating the slideshow.

No. But you can do one, copy its settings, then seclect the rest and "Paste Audio Settings" to all of them all at once in a project.

Help! Photos doesn't sort my photos under albums.

I have just upgraded to Photos and now all of my pictures are all mesed up!!!!!
I have 10 000 pictures and now they are all sorted randomly. Dates and times of when the picture was taken are mixed. Some are sorted and some are not. Pictures I took last year is mixed with pictures I took yesterday. My vacations pictures are spread out all over the place so I can't even make sense of it.
This happens on my Iphone and on my Mac under the menu "Albums" > "All photos". It seams to be working under Photos but not under Albums. How can I fix this?

Will image Capture (in your applications folder) import them? Can you see the camera in the finder? Have you tried a card reader?
Basically you need to get the photos off the memory card and once they are safely on your Mac and at lease one backup cycle has successfully completed use the camera's format command to ease and reformat the memory card

The primary reason I got an iPad was to use it as a portfolio of my photography. How is it possible that with Apple software you can't easily sort photos in a custom order within albums?!? I've heard there is a way to use Dropbox to work around (ignore) Apple software. Any help? If Apple engineers are reading this, can you please address this? And can we not use something called iTunes to work with pictures? No sense here.

The absolutely FIRST thing you have to do is contact your clients webmaster and get the required specs: frame size, bitrate.
Then you can either export directly out of FCP or take a file into compressor and make it there.

Yes, but the recipient may not be getting the full image file that was used to make the Shared Photo Stream. You would have to run a test to see if there's any reduction in the image and file size. The following is from iCloud: Photo Stream FAQ

Did you try to change the sort order when in album view ? You can choose newest, oldest, import batch or album (custom) order.

Fixed order of photos for album w/o sorting

When importing photos, PSE (by default) imports using a LIFO (Last In First Out) method - hence photos are in choronological order from last to first taken. If photos are from, say, a vacation, this is a problem since nobody wants to see their vacation photos in reverse order.
This can be rectified by Sorting: Date (Oldest First).
However, this sorts the entire Catalog.
My question is: is there any way to use this Sort: Date (Oldest First) and then to assign a Fixed Order to the photos in the album so that I will not have to go through this each time I view the album.
I realize that I can arrange the photos manually, however, in the example I am thinking of there are over 2k photos.

Since you used the term "Album" I suspect that you are using PS Elements version 6 or 7. (for future reference it is better to include the version number of PSE when you post because sometimes it makes a difference)
I think that this will work for you, but I am not currently in a place where I can verfiy it: -
After you have created the Album, Right click on the NAME of the Album in the pane on the right and there should be a choice for
b Chronological Sequence
in that menu.
If your photos are all from the same camera, then that should give you the sequence you want. If your photos are from multiple cameras, then your results will be influenced by whether both cameras time stamps were the same (or very close). If you do have multiple cameras, you can use the Organizer Date/Time change adjustment commands to bring the times closer in sync.

I would like to know how to move photos from camera roll to other albums. I don't want to leave all my photos in camera roll. I wan't to do this using a PC.

In terms of windows explorer/camera wizard you won't see synced folders/albums that are on the iPad. You can only add photos to albums/folders that you synced from your computer by adding the photos to the folders on your computer and then re-syncing - on the iPad you can only add/copy photos to albums that you've created directly on the iPad.
So you will need to copy the photos to your computer : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083. Then organise them on your computer into folders and then re-sync them.

For the Photos app you need to put the photos into different folders on your computer and then sync those folders to the iPad - you need to sync all the photos that you want on the iPad in one go, as only the most recent photo sync remains on the iPad. There are third-party apps that you can copy photos to on the iPad which I think might allow you to do slideshows, but I havn't used any of them.

Can't do it.
You can use the browser (iTunes menu view > Browser) select a genre then sort by Album.

Events are sorted in the following ways:
If Date, Keyword, Title, and Rating are not what you are looking for then it is time to start using Albums.
Highlight the images you wish to work with and then go to File > New > Album (you can drag more images into this Album later if you want to arrange more of them.)
Once you have the images in an Album you can use the "Manually" sort option which means you can drag the images into whatever order your heart desires.
