Want to know abt Enterprise portal (EP) implication in SAP HR scenario

Hi All,
In my client place I need to configure Training and Event Mgmt i.e through ESS.I want to know the basic configuration in Enterprise portal(EP).How can I do the basic Configuration in EP as a HR consultant.Means how R/3 data ll be mapped to ESS.Plz help me as in my client place, I don't ve any EP consultant.

ESOA mean Enterprise Service Oriented Architecture
SOA mean an Architecture approach to define IT solution for business problems using loose couples SERVICES
Service mean: definition of a business function in terms of the service message, protocol and nature
Nature mean Service direction, Service mode and service contract
WEB SERVICE, XML, XSD, SOAP : Mean a technology following SOA architecture approach to IT enablement of a business need.
WEB service compose business functions, location of services, messages of service offering and protocol into a single definition to define service contract.
XML mean a common language to represent message
XSD mean a common way to define message structure
SOAP mean a procol which carry messages of services between service consumer and service provider.
Finally : Web service is not SOA. Web service is a technology implementing SOA architectural approach to IT enablement of a business NEED.

Want to prepare for enterprise portal development certification

Hi,
please guide me how should I go ahead to prepare for enterprise portal certification.
1.Is there any eligibility for work experienec, if I dont attend SAP proprietary training courses, and prepere self?
2. Is it really worth to prepare and give examination? Is it really makiing any impact in market to be certified?
how much time duration looks OK, to get certified
as I am in US, California, what are chnaces to get a suitable date to give exam.

1. Usually you would need 3-6 months of EP development experience. This blog may help.

I have to run application in which records has to be saved in hindi...when i have to save it it is ok ..but when i go for fetching these records..it gives junk character...any one plse help me abt this probs??????????

How have you verified that the data is being saved correctly? If when you select the data it is junk, how can you be sure that it wasn't saved as "junk"? What environment are you in for the front end, and what version and character set are you using in the back end. To find the version of the database you can use
SELECT * FROM V$VERSION;
and to find the character set etc, you can use
SHOW PARAMETER NLS
in SQL Plus.
It could just be down to using a character set in the database that doesn't support hindi characters, or it could be a problem in the front end, or a problem between the two. With this info, it will be easier to find where the problem lies.

Hi,
if i passed jsp-precompile=true then what will happen?
what situation we have to send that parameter...
what is the exact functionality of jsp-precompile option....
In our application we are having 200 jsp files.
in our application, once the user logs then 7 frames are loaded and a jsp page is called for each frame...
sometime i am getting jasper exception in some frame.... so should i pass this parameter to all jsp's..

I don't think precompile is an option that you pass to a JSP. It's a container option, and how it's supported depends on the container AFAIk. I don't think it's in the JSP spec, but I could be wrong.
Basically what it does it turns the .jsp files into .java files (and possibly .java into .class files too) at the point where the app is deployed or started or something. This is in contrast to doing the compilation page by page when a given .jsp is requested.
What you gain is smoother first-time loading of the pages at the cost of one-time startup delay.

Could any one tell me is the field UCCHECK is available in table TRDIR in lower versions of SAP like 4.0, 4.5, 4.6 and below 4.7.

Field UCCHECK is not available in TRDIR table in 3.1H version.
UCCHECK is flag that says whether unicode check is done for that particular program or not.
Unicode concept has come into existence from version 4.6 , i suppose.
