Want to learn SAP APO

HI Experts,
I have 4+ years of experience in SAP BI, now I am planning to learn SAP APO. Please give me sugessions is it is useful to future carrier and what are the best materials or documents to learn.
Regards,
SVS

Hello
As you have good exposure in BI , DP would be a good area to explore. Let me tell you , BPC is the area that might help you more in the long run.
In DP what is going to happen is you may have to read lot of functional processes and get yourself acquainted with mapping them to the system.
If you are bent on APO then spend sometime with DP. Before that first read Forecasting and if you google this word you can see lots of good sites.  Please let me know if I can be of any help.

one of my friend is in to Retail domain..non SAP Domain working with one retail channel as a store manager. ...Wants to learn SAP....which module should he go for..SD / CRM / or direct IS_Retail certification...as a fresher where he will be able to get chance...???
i am working as a SAP Recruiter in some company..so i am aware that there is not much demand for fresher in this industry..
    please guide...

Plenty of information about Retail education on <a href="https://websmp104.sap-ag.de/RETAIL">Service Marketplace - Retail</a> where you will find course descriptions.  For example:
This curriculum comprises an Overview Course (Level 2), which explains the main retailing processes in SAP for Retail, plus seven Detailed Courses (Level 3), which examine specific retailing processes and how these are mapped and controlled in SAP for Retail.
The Overview Course IRT100 (Retail Process Overview) explains the core processes of a retailing company. Based on a scenario in which merchandise is sold from stores, the course demonstrates how the store and distribution center are supplied with goods. Further process examples are the special cases of promotions and return of merchandise.

  • Want to learn SAP PLM

    Hi All,
I have 11 years of experience in Enovia PLM (java based PLM tool) and has good understanding of Engineering Management, Product configuration and Product portfolio management.
I want to improve breadth of my knowledge and want to learn SAP  PLM
Can any of you guide me where to start.
I am currently at Atlanta GA USA Are there any good  online training institutes.
Also please let me know good websites to learn about SAP PLM
    Thanks & Regards
    Murali

    Hi Murali,
There are different ways you can learn SAP PLM:
    1) Easy but costly way is through attending cources run by different SAP Authorized Training Centers. By Training route u will get proper step by step guidance on different PLM functions, but it will have some impact on your pocket.
    2) You can read SAP Help available online. But trust me without assistance its like learning greek.
    3) There are different Presentations available on internet made by consultant for their customer. It would be great first step towards excellence.
Mentioned above are few ways by which you can learn SAP PLM, however the time & understanding level totally depend upon your will to get mastered into it.
    Thanks & Regards

  • Want to learn SAP PI 7.4 Single stack

    Hi Experts,
I am a beginner in SAP PI and started by journey with SAP PI 7.0. Now, we are upgrading it to SAP PI 7.4 single stack.
I want to learn it as much as possible before the migration but when I search for the topics in SCN, I am getting confused with the different topics and its naming conventions explained. (For Eg PI and PO). So, will it possible for you experts to provide me the links which can actually help me to get the full depth knowledge on PI 7.4 (Single stack). Am just hoping to be a productive member of this SAP family:)
    Regards,
    Adarsh

    Hi Adarsh,
SAP Process Orchestration is the new name of SAP Process Integration (SAP PI). SAP changed the name with the release 7.3 to include the additional features of SAP NetWeaver Business Process Management (nBPM), Advanced Adapter Engine Extended (AEX) and SAP NetWeaver Business Rules Management (BRM).
Source - Latest version is SAP PO 7.4  or SAP PI 7.4 (commonly known as of now). Good part is that PO 7.4 license includes BPM and BRM. Till PO 7.4 SAP still provides the dual stack (ABAP + JAVA) option to install. But going forward it would be single stack (JAVA) only i.e. only swing tool for ESR and ID or NWDS. no more transactions/tocde.
    From a developer standpoint:
You got all adapter based on JAVA. IDOC and HTTP are now IDOC_AAE and HTTP_AAE, also proxy scenario can be done using SOAP adapter XI protocol and there is no ccBPM.

  • Want to learn SAP NetWeaver.

    Hi All
I have 2.5 years of Experience in developing java/j2ee applications. I am interested in Learning SAP Netweaver. Can u please suggest me the carrer prospects in this field.
I am good at Java,J2SE, please also let me know which modules of  Netweaver suits to me.
I dontnt have any knowledge in SAP i.e ABAP
    Thanks in Advance
    W.Mahendra

On other hand, I'll say that I'm also mostly a NewGen girl (C#.NET, WCF/WWF/WPF, J2EE, JBoss, jBPM, ...), and from some point of view ABAP is refreshing.
From my up to now really short experience (a few days), programming SAP NetWeaver in ABAP is rather simple...
Besides, maybe a stronger argument for ABAP :
From what I can see using "/h" (debug mode), it looks like most SAP is in fact in ABAP, so if you're planning on working in SAP, isn't ABAP a better choice ? Or do SAP plan on abandonning ABAP for JAVA ?
Any opinions on these last thoughs?

    Hi Ashok,
The SAP online help is a good source to start with.
For portal concepts and overview you can start with the link below:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/a4/76bd3b57743b09e10000000a11402f/frameset.htm
For EP development, you can start by accessing the online help for EP developers. This is a part of the portal documentation.

    Hi there!
My name is George and this is my first post, so please be gentile :).
I am a web programmer, 3.5years of experiece  with Php, Mysql, Javascript, HTML, XML...
I recently found out about SAP,   I read a little documentation ... and I want to start learnig SAP.
I want an advice, if anyone can spare one ...  would it be to much for me to switch to SAP, based on my knoledge and programming skills?
    Thank you!

    Hi,
based on your experience I recommend the ABAP academy and certification (http://www.sap.com/services/education/catalog/netweaver/curriculum.epx?context=[[NW_ABAP_DEV]]|).
The academy is also available as a distance learning program: SAP eAcademy (http://www.sap.com/services/education/certtraining/eacademies/curriculum.epx?context=%5b%5bTAW1e%5d%5d%7c)
If you want to move in an architecture role I recommend the new Associate Technology Architecture course and certification.
