Want to use 30" Apple display for HD TV... is possible?

Want to get a 30" Apple Moniter to use with G4... iMovie, presentations, etc... and then use as HD TV (we don't watch TV... just DVD's and VCR's.) Do I have to use computer to watch DVD's or can I get a peripheral DVD player/ DVD recorder combination... patch into stereo. Instead of getting a HD LCD TV, would rather get monitor and use for both. Has anyone done this? Is this possible?
Thanks for any help....

Thanks you guys... ok, so forget the HD TV idea... I like the big monitor... if I used the Gefen player... is there anyway to get a VCR player to run through it to the Monitor. The idea here... is we don't watch broadcast TV... just dvd's and vcr tapes... have a lot of vcr tapes. Is that possible? Any other solutions I'm not aware of? Or should I just get a off the shelf LCD TV from Costco? Thanks for helping me here.

i want to use various gmail id for icloud, it is possible ?

You can use a GMail address to set up an Apple ID (you have to use a non-Apple address for this) and then use that to sign into iCloud. However iCloud only handles its own addresses - [email protected] - and you can't use it with any other email address.

  • HT204053 i want to use one apple ID for multiple devices. how will i be able to load the apps on all devices?

I am trying to set up 7 new ipads with the same apple ID. How will i be able to pay for the apps once and identify that the other devices should load them too?

If they are using the same apple ID, then you don't need to worry. You can install apps on as many devices you want.

  • HT204053 I have one apple id for my iPad and a second apple id for my iPhone and laptop. I just want to use one apple id. How do I delete the apple id on my iPad and make it consistent with the other two devices?

I have one apple id on my iPad and a second apple id on my iPhone and laptop. I want to use one apple id for everything. I tried wiping my iPad and synching it with my laptop. The old apple id still remains on my iPad. I can't get rid of it. Help.

On the iPad open Settings/iCloud and delete the account using the button at the bottom. Once deleted log in using the other account. For iTunes Stores use Settings/iTunes & Apps Stores, tapp on the Apple ID at the top then sign out. Once done sign in using the other account. Once you are happy with the changes plug your iPad into your computer to update the backup.

  • Is it legal to use the apple logo for wallpaper design?

    Dear Applers,
is it legal to use the Apple logo for my wallpaper which I design and create.
I want to share this wallpaper on my website. The wallpaper are funny like others which already exists.
For example a wallpaper where the Apple logo looks like a donut and Homer Simpson wants to steal it....
Other example could be wallpaper with modern and nice design.
So is it allowed to share wallpaper with the apple Logo in the picture, so other users can download and use it as a wallpaper?
    Best Regards from Germany
    Christoph

    Thank you for your help.
So does it mean, that I can't use it in any way?
I mean, I do not want to use the Apple logo for the website itself. So not for the layout, template or webdesign.
I just want to place the logo on my wallpaper pictures, which I want to offer as a download for mac users which like it to personalize their Backgrounds.
I mean there are thousands of websites like this? Are all the Admins doing this at own risk?
Hard to belive, that all these pictures, you see here are ilegal in the internet, isn't it?

  • I want to use my Apple watch to time my patients' vital signs. The face only stays displayed for about 7 seconds. Can I change that?

I want to use my Apple watch to time my patients' vital signs. The watch face only stays displayed for about 7 seconds, which won't work. Can I change that?

    Linda
I am glad that bbqdevil's *workaround* will "do the trick"
Did you give the Timer idea a try yet? It seems to me that you are really needing to know when a certain amount of time has elapsed rather than *time how long you have being taking a reading*. Will you always have your hand free to tap the Watch? If so, why would you need the StopWatch going? - just look again at the sweep second hand on the clock.
It still remains that one should be able to set the time elapsed before sleep on a Chronograph w/ sweep second WatchFace though. I have searched and searched, to no avail.
I would suggest Siri, but it seems like many issues with Siri are ongoing and might just add another problem to the mix.
If I were you, I would Call Apple Support. It is sometimes tricky to get that option in the "breadcrumb" process Apple has instituted, but I was able to test the process before suggesting this:
    Click/Tap > https://getsupport.apple.com/GetproductgroupList.action
    Choose Apple Watch
    Choose "Setup & Usage..."
Choose "The topic is not listed"
Enter "set sleep duration" > [Continue]
(I know this in not exactly right, but the point is to be vague)
Pick your poison - I would ONLY choose to talk with them on the phone
Rehearse an "elevator pitch" statement* for the Specialist that you get AND when you get no satisfaction (likely) ASK FOR A SUPERVISOR
I have NEVER gotten an answer from a Level 1 Specialist - they are reading from a Knowledge Base not unlike all the resources available to us online
I have ALWAYS gotten satisfaction from a Senior Specialist (sometimes pretty high up the chain - but always)
Here's a sample "elevator pitch" that I actually sent as Feedback on the Apple Watch User Guide page
I need to change the duration 'before' the Watch goes to sleep while observing the Chronograph Watch Face.
I am a healthcare provider. I need to use my Watch to assist me in taking vital signs. On a normal watch, I would start counting pulses or respirations at a 15 second interval on the Analog Chronograph sweep second hand > stop counting at the next 15 sec. interval > multiply X 4 to get rate/minute.
The Watch goes to sleep after SEVEN (7) seconds !! Therefore I cannot see when 15 seconds has elapsed.  I use both hands regularly in the procedure, so touching the Watch is not an option - or 'raise the Watch' to my viewing position.
I, and others in the ASC forum have searched for a Setting for the before sleep duration in vain.
Let us know what you decide.

I want to use my apple TV as a second monitor not a mirrored one, in other words, I want to use my TV as a second screen not a copy of my first screen, other people have asked this question but have been given mirroring answers so I am spelling it out here very specifically. I want a second display. This should be possible and would be awesome. Anyone know how to do this?

Nevermind I just installed it to try it and it's awesome, so happy right now, Thanks. All the things I had read about it on third party sites led me to believe it could not do extended desk tops, thanks for your help!

  • How do I change the icloud account on my iphone? I want to use the same account for all my apple devices (macbook air and imac and iphone). I can't see where I can amend the iphone account because it is in grey?

I want to use the same account for all my apple devices (macbook air, imac and iphone). I can't see how I can amend the iphone account because it is in grey? I also can't remember the password for this account so i can't even delete it and start again?
    Help!
    Thanks

Deleting an iCloud account only deletes it from the Device, not from iCloud.  In iOS 8, the name of this setting changed to "Sign Out" as that is a better reflection of what actually happens.  Your iCloud data remains on the server, available to devices still signed into the account, but the device you sign out of the account on is disconnected from the account, and as a result, the iCloud data from that account is removed from the device.  It will redownload to the device should you sign back into the account.
The only issue you'll run into when you switch between accounts is with my photo stream photos older than 30 days.  When you delete (or sign out of) and account, your photo stream photos are deleted along with the other data from the account in question.  However, unlike other data which remains on the server and can redownload to your device when you sign back in, my photo stream photos only remain in iCloud for 30 days.  When you sign back in, you will only get back my photo stream photos added in the last 30 days (as older photos are no longer in iCloud to redownload).  Like other account data, any my photo stream photos on your other devices signed into the account are unaffected by this.  If you want to keep older my photo stream photos on your device as you change iCloud accounts, save them to your camera roll before deleting (signing out of) the account.

  • I've got a MacBook pro 15' running 10.6.6. I want to use an external monitor for my graphic design work running Adobe software and thought I'd try an HD TV. I ran a Mini Display to HDMI lead to the TV but the picture quality was disappointing.

I've got a MacBook Pro 15' running 10.6.6. I want to use an external monitor for my graphic design work using Adobe software and thought I'd try an HD TV. I ran a Mini Display to HDMI lead to the TV but the picture quality was disappointing. I also tried a Mini Display to VGA lead and that wasn't much better. I tried all variations of resolutions in System prefs - Displays but nothing helped. Am I getting something wrong? Thanks all.

In addition to pixel density, you are up against the translation driver card in the TV.
If you read the fine print of computer-resolution-capability in the TV user guide, you will see a chart as tall as the manual page.  At the top is the smallest resolution capable, at the bottom is the full use of the 1080p in the TV.
Mac falls into the top 25% of the page, maxing out at 1366x768 often.  This is because the TV control card is expected to do too much of the work, but is not designed for computer-monitor processing.
I looked at the resolution charts on 2 TVs before deciding to buy a 1080p LCD monitor that has a TV interface/connector.  Computer monitor first, TV second.  But the thing is only 27 in.  Good thing TV is not as important to me as it is to others.

  • I have an iPad 2 and used old Apple ID for iBook app; now it wants to upgrade but I have a new Apple ID, how can I make certain I don't lose any data in my iBooks?

I have an iPad 2 and used old Apple ID for iBook app; now it wants to upgrade iBook but it is "stuck" on my old ID, yet I already created a new ID but it won't let me update the App.  I have everything backed up on my MacBook so if I delete iBooks on my iPad and retrieve the App under my new ID and then sync with my MacBook, will I still have all of the books, etc.?

Your purchases are tied to your Apple ID. If you bought all of the books with the old ID then AFAIK you will have to continue to use that ID in order to continue to sync those books to the iPad.
You have to update the app with the old ID so I don't see how you could keep the books with the new ID. Maybe I am wrong about this, but someone else will chime in I'm sure and correct me if I am wrong.

  • My kids share use my apple id for their ipods.  Now I'm getting an ipad and wondering if I should get a new id (they don't want to start over).  Can we share but not have to see each other's apps, contacts, etc?

My kids use my apple id for their ipods.  Now I'm getting an ipad and wondering if I should get a new id (they don't want to start over).  Can we share the id (my email address) but not have to see each other's apps, contacts, etc?  I'd rather share I think, but don't want to create a nightmare for myself.  Also, I already have a kindle app (with purchased content) for my computer - does getting a new id for itunes change my ability to access my kindle account on my ipad?   Thanks!

So first I'd say that it's not a good idea to start a new apple id if you have a large purchase history.  You may not transfer purchases between apple IDs.  You should consider some other options listed here http://support.apple.com/kb/HE37  Primarily the option where you or your children have seperate icloud accounts/email accounts that sync their contacts apart from yours.  You may use your apple ID for purchases and use a different one for icloud/email/etc.

Go to Settings > iCloud > Delete Account, and enter your Apple ID password. Then sign in with the new ID.
NOTE: "Delete Account" just means it will be deleted from the iPad. The account itself will not be deleted.
