Warranty void due to multiple dents on edges?

currently my ipad display distorted as it still have 6 months warranty so i send in for repair.
but they said can't repair only replacement.
Now they said can't replace it as it has many dents on edges so warranty voided.
that not fair i just bought it for 6 month and the dents were already there for since first month i bought.
so the distortion wasn't caused by the dents.
Does anyone encounter such problem?

Some not insignificant physical trauma caused those dents, and Apple cannot just take your word that the dents didn't cause your problem.  Especially since the duration of time between the denting and the problem doesn't mean a darn thing.  I once dropped a MacBook Pro on the floor and, despite a big dent, it worked fine...  For a month, then the logic board finally failed.  Following physical trauma, problems can crop up at a later date, they don't have to occur right away.

I just called about a Hard Drive going out and the tech state that i voided my warranty by ugrading to Windows 7
Professions from Windows 7 Home Premien
that came as a surprise and a BIG **bleep**????
Why then lenovo sells windows or even do business with Microsoft!!!!!!

I can imagine, that might give Microsoft reason to have a puzzled frown at Lenovo ... thats sort of restricting their sales now that you have brought that up here.

  • Warranty Void plus extras

Hello every one, I need some answers regarding as to exactly what voids the warranty? I have Macbook pro retina display thats still under warranty but I got a dent from trying to plug in my hdmi cable. No joke, so I would assume this falls under faulty product more than accidental damage? Now my main concern is that my brother tried to open my mac and lost a few screws, does this mean my warranty is still intact? Nothing about the mac has really changed at all.
Lastly I have like 3 dead pixels, they're not so bad but should I just try to get them replaced anyway? Thank you for your time.

you'll have to do a lot of explaining to Apple as to why the screws are gone - Apple considers the Retina Macbook Pro and Macbook Air as a sealed unit which is not upgradeable - once you open the back - the warranty is out the window - unless you can convince them that the screws fell off by themselves.
dents usually doesn't void the warranty - have a dent in my Macbook Pro that's under warranty - had issues with my Macbook Pro (not caused by the dent) and was repaired.
the best thing to do is to take it to Apple to get a definite answer to your question.
good luck - hope you get it sorted out.

  • Warranty void stick

    Hi,
I just purchased my creative zen touch a matter of hours ago. it has finished its first charge and i have gotten a few songs uploaded. However, i recently discovered that the warranty void sticker on the bottom of the device is now half covering the front and back sections. It is on the back cover only but there are symbols etched into it.
The packaging was fine. it was sealed and brand new.
Could someone shed some light on my confusion?
    Thanks

Sounds like a question only Creative Support can answer, and there's no guarantee you'll get an answer from them here (as per the disclaimer at the top of the forum).

  • Warranty void on Apple engraved products?

Can anyone help me? I'm thinking about buying a 3rd Gen Nano from the online Apple store for my daughter for Christmas and getting it engraved, but I've been informed recently that if I have it engraved it will void the warranty, is this correct?
I have also read the limited warranty and nowhere does it say anything about deeming the warranty void if the iPod is engraved by them.
    Any advice welcome, thanks.

Engraving it does NOT void the warranty. (I presume you're talking about the engraving service that Apple offers? I don't know what would happen if you, say, had it engraved by a jeweler or did it yourself.)
What you can't do, if you order it engraved, is return it. So, if you're daughter doesn't like it, you're stuck with it. Unengraved, it could be returned within the standard return period (don't remember what that is. 14 days?).

  • Need Multiple Units of Measure for a given material due to multiple vendors

    Hello,
We have a requirement where we must have multiple units of measue (each, box, case, pallet) for a given material.
    Background:
We have multiple vendors for one SAP material number. We need to store 4 levels of units of measure for each vendor+material combination.
    Unit of Meaure levels
    1. Each
    2. Innerpack (ex: 12 each = 1 innerpack)
    3. Box (ex: 36 eaches = 1 box)
    4. Pallet (ex: 100 eaches = 1 pallet)
Standard SAP allows in MM01 additional data --> Units of Measure only 1 Ea, Box, Plt, etc.
Our requirement is to allow multiple Units of Measure due to multiple vendors providing the same material.
So, our unique combination is by a Material+Vendor.
We are considering adding the vendor name and vendor number to the material master --> additional data --> Units of Measure tab.
Does this seem like a good solution? What impacts do you foresee with approach?
    Any alternatve solutions?
We thought we could enhance the purchasing info records to allow multiple units of measure too but then we need to also add many fields to hold the weight, lenght, height, width, volume, country of origin, etc.
Please recommend a best practice or solution to handle this requirement.
    Thanks in advance!!!

    Hi,
Maintain the alternative units in Material Master in Additional Data -> Units of Measure section with proper conversion factors.
Create individual info-records i.e. per mtl-vendor combination & in the info-record maintain the order unit, along with other details as required.
Now when you create a PO, the details will be read from the info-record. To test the same, create them in your sandbox & see if it meets your requirement.
Hope the above clarifies your query.
    Regards,
    Vivek

  • Ho to know Cisco warranty start/due date for my items by serial number?

    Hi All,
How do I find Cisco warranty strart/due date for a purchased Catalyst 3560 series switch by serial number?
    Many thanks for your answers.
    Moss

    Hello Moss,
First, you'll need a CCO account to login.
Then go to Tools & resources.
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/web/tools-catalog.html
Click on Device Coverage checker at the top and you'll be asked to enter the serial number of the device you are trying to verify.
It will verify if the device is covered and the expiration date.
Here is a link that gives a little info on device checker.
    https://cway.cisco.com/docs/SNChecker/1.6.0/coverage-checker-getting-started/coverage-checker-getting-started.htm
    Hope this helps,

  • Will installing a new operating system make the warranty void

I just bought a HP G3 200 Series 250 Core i3 from Indian online store. The current operating system is free DOS and i want to install windows 8 on it. Will that make my warranty void ?

Hi: Doing that will not void the hardware warranty but HP will not offer any software support if you install another operating system. Bear in mind that there are no W8 64 bit drivers for that model, so I suggest you upgrade to W8.1 after you install W8 or install W7 64 bit.

  • Adding up Downloads excessively due to multiple rows in Tabular

    Hi All ,
We have fact table table which has data for Products that are taken down from the  App Store ,due to different reasons like App has risky key words , App has adult content etc  ...  We get the data from the staging table as below
As the "reasonForTakeDown" column is having comma separated string , now we need to split this reason in to multiple rows taking Comma as the delimiter. So the first ,second and Third ProductGUIDs  have to repeated multiple
times to each "reasonForTakeDown" as shown below
So in the above example if get the sum(Downloads) for the productKey 1 , then value is 300 where as the Staging value is 100.Same as with the productKey 2 , Sum(Downloads) from the fact table is 150 where as the Staging value is 50 and same case with ProductKey
3 as well . Downloads and Revenue numbers are getting inflated due to multiple rows
I have a Tabular basing on the above fact table and having measures as "Downloads" and "Revenue" which are set to aggregation type as "SUM".  For the products like 1,2 and 3 we are
getting inflated numbers from cube when compared to Staging table due to the column ReasonForRemovalkey.
Now the problem is avoid the excess counting of downloads and Revenue by keeping multiple rows in fact table to satisfy reasonForRemovalKey Scenario . Can you help me out in writing an DAX so that anytime i will get the
correct number of downloads and revenue which are matching with staging table.
    Approaches tried:
    1)  Tried changing the aggregation type from SUM to Avg , but this aggregation type would give avg of downloads when the user selects multiple products. Suppose if the user selects ProductKey 1 & 2  then Avg downloads measure would be (100+100+100+50+50+50)
/ 6  = 75 , where as the original downloads sum is  100+50  = 150 .So Avg aggregation wont work for me.
    2) I cannot divide the value of  downloads/NetRevenue for a product with the count of rows for that product in fact table. So that Sum(Downloads) and Sum(NetRevenue) would give me correct values.I cannot do this because , if want to get the downloads
for a TCR and a product then i would download measure share of that TCR but not the total downloads.
Hope i explained my scenario well. Thanks in advance

Spliting the message as it supports only two images per message .
    Contd :
Now the scenarios that needs to satisfied as below :
If user selects a product then we should get only the latest download and revenue out of the above multiple rows for a product from the tabular cube .i.e. as shown in the below snip
Suppose if the user selects any other column instead of Product from the tabular cube , suppose if the user selects a date as a dimension on the row labels and Downloads ,Revenue as the measure from the Tabular cube , then it should only the max downloads
and Revenue for a product. i.e
Now the same case as date with Requester also .If user selects requester then we should count only the downloads and revenue only once i.e. is the max downloads and revenue for a product and a requestor as shown in the below table
    RequestorKey Downloads Revenue
    1                    100             50
    2                    150             40
    3                    105             55
Hope i explained now clearly the scenarios. Thanks  you once again for your time

  • Is there a way to find out if someone was locked out of my iphone due to multiple incorrect password entries?

Yesterday, I lost my iphone and searched for hours. I found it in the middle of the highway (I'm lucky that I found it and I am lucky that all it suffered was a broken screen). I wanted to find out if someone had tried to access my phone and could not figure out the password. At this point, it is just a curiousity thing. I thought maybe there was a way to find out if my iphone had been locked due to multiple incorrect password entries. Is this possible?
    Thanks!

There is a way.  You can download iPhone Configuration Utility http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1465 and from there, when you connect your iPhone to your Mac / PC, you will be able to view the logs.
I've just connected mine and tested by keying in the wrong code a couple of times, this shows up in the log:
    Desc   : Wrong passcode.
    US Desc: Wrong passcode.
    Domain : MCPasscodeErrorDomain
    Code   : 5011
    Type   : MCFatalError
Along with other things.  So this may be something you could check to see how many times someone has tried to access your device.

  • Macbook Pro Glass replaced by 3rd party - warranty voided?

Hi, when i purchased my macbook pro (feburary 2011 model), after some months, i accidently cracked the glass infront of the screen.
As we all know, apple charges a ridiculous amount to get it replaced as from my understanding they replace the entire lid.
I also purchased the apple car protection plan when i bought the laptop.
I had the glass replaced by a professional store that specializes in this for aobut $150.
They just replaced the glass which was the only problem.
Is my applecare protection package and inital 1 year warranty voided?
Are there any markers the appl employees can tell that it has been replaced?
    Thanks in advanced!

It wasn't replaced by an authorized apple service center.
    Just by a repair shop.
The call support center is closed at the moment.
It would be very unfir if the $400 odd it costs for the protection plan to be voided only a year after the purchase making it completely a waste as it adds an extra 2 years after the first year.
So, do you think it would be voided since it wasn't done by an auth apple center?
The status of its warranty online says it is all in tact obviously, but if i brought it into the apple store if a problem
arised, and they open it up for repair or whatever, if nothing was damaged when the screen got replaced, is there anyway they could tell it was replaced?

  • Help! Warranty void, I don't know what to do!?!?!

So after a long time of dealing with issuses with my Macbook Pro, I finally decided enough was enough and to send it in for repairs under warranty. Problems with it were as follows:
    Heat:
At 100 percent CPU useage for both cores my computer was reaching up to 204F (or around 100C) in temperature. It was getting so hot I burned my hand on it.
    Battery:
Throughout the time that I have owned the computer, which was since march of this year, the battery capacity has deminished greatly. I use a program called coconut battery to monitor this. I also used my own personal observation, where by this point I was only getting an hour battery life after a full charge. I only have about 45 load cycles on the battery.
    Other:
There were also issues like the screen being slightly warped, where the right corner was not completely lining up with the left, and the chrome on the button on the front of the computer having mostly warn off...but I told them if they atleast got the heat and battery fixed I'd be happy. The representative who I talked to definately seemed to agree with me that the issues I was having would be covered under the warranty.
So, I sent the computer in and as of today I got a call saying that there was liquid spill damage, and that the warranty was void. If I wanted it repaired they would have to replace the logic board, the superdrive, the battery, and some other things I can't remember for a grand total of 1200 dollars. Here I am, a poor college student that has been an avid mac user for most of my life, telling people how great macs are and convincing people to buy them but only having a little 500mhz ibook on loan from my parents, and only by pure luck had some family members help me out to buy this computer for school. Then to hear that nothing is covered and that I am supposed to come up with 1200 dollars SOMEHOW, just because some liquid got on the computer.
This so called liquid damage that they are reffering to probably occured when I was working and had my computer on the desk...someone must have been drinking a coke cause when I came back there was a coke can on its side, but not exactly very close to the computer, and the liquid had seeped underneath the machine. When I picked the mac up there was liquid on the bottom of it, but only because those little useless rubber standoffs they put on the bottom of these Macbook Pro's was not high enough to be above the thickness of a water based liquid as it runs across a desk. At that point I promptly had unplugged the battery from my computer and the power cable and dried it all off. From that day no NEW problems had surfaced, the battery and heat issue had already existed.I didn't expect that any should because the liquid had only reached the bottom side of the computer and it was shut off quickly.
I know of a guy who had an ibook, and he spilled a whole can of coke while he was driving into the keboard while it was on. When the computer then shut itself off because it just couldn't operate with so much soda in its guts, the guy then tried to turn it back on!! No response of course, but that night we took it completely appart, dried out every component and put it back together. The thing booted up perfectly. So it makes me VERY mad when they tell me everything wrong with my mac is due to a liquid spilling on it!
Is there anything I can do? Any legal recourse I can take to get this resolved? Anyone who knows anything about this please let me know. Thanks!

I think you should find the drinker/spiller of the coke.
Getting electronics wet usually kils them, they aren't made water proof or even resistant.
Logic board+super drive+batery=$1200 probably not far off.
Some one owes you 1200 cokes and IMHO it is not Apple.

  • Macbook Pro Warranty Void and Beeping 3 times/freezing

    Hey guys,
I have a Macbook Pro and it recnetly started beeping three times intermittenly when I started it up and freexzing at the same time.
Sometimes it would work and then after a while of use it would freeze and beep but in the end it became more frequent and the laptop wasn't able to be used on a consistent basis.
I found that if I kept it still it would work for longer.
I have read that three beeps generally refers to a ram issue. I'm not too great with computeres so I wouldn't know if that was the reason why my laptop was doing it or not.
Anyway, I knew that I still had the basic one year warranty on it that comes with purchase so I rang apple and they told me to take it to a store called 'Next Byte'. So I did and after about 2 weeks I got a phone call today telling me that to fix it it is going to cost me $1800. In between his actual laughter at me he told me that logic board needs replacing. Yes, you read that right, he was actually laughing at me, like he thought it was funny. He also wen't on to tell me that I may as well just buy a new one. Well excuse me, and who are you?
Apparently there is visiable cosmetic damage. I know that this voids the apple warranty but I just think it is unfair.
Is there anyway that apple can prove that I caused the damage? I am not going to say that it is 100% conditon, I'm sure there are some bumps and scratches on it, but I truly don't think I have caused this issue. Is there anyway I can talk to someoene at apple who might be able to see if this was my doing?
And you know what else confused me, he told me the price to fix both the cosmetic damage and the hardware damage. But when I ask him how much it would be just to fix the hardward damgage he gave me a quote of $1100, so if he can tell me that he can just fix the hardware damadge that must me that the present so called "dents" on the laptop won't effect the new logic board, so how can they possibly be sure reason as to what has caused the issue with my laptop now? This is really frustraiting and I can't believe that I haven't even had my laptop a year and I have to pay the price of a whole other laptop to fix it.
    Please help!

Take it to Apple and ask them. They are the only ones that can tell you.
Three beeps usually indicates bad RAM.
