Was AMD Radeon GPU compatibility removed in CS6?

I was wondering...
I checked out the AE CS6 trial and noticed that I cannot use my GPU whereas in CS5.5 I was able to.
I'm using an AMD Radeon HD 6950 2GB and CS6 tells me the GPU is either not available or has an incompatible device or display driver.
I've the latest drivers for my graphics card so I don't think it's the latter.
Was AMD Radeon GPU compatibility removed in favor of NVIDIA or is the whole OpenGL part of AE gone?

Raytracing is the only GPU related option I could find in the Previews part of the Preferences window, inside the "GPU Information" pop-up.
Also, in "Display", "Hardware Accelerate Composition, Layer, and Footage Panels" is greyed out, I can't tick/enable it.
The lightning bolt (Fast Previews) button doesn't show OpenGL related options either.
Running on Windows 7 64 bit.

Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 crashes with not finding a capable play module on a windows desktop with a AMD Radeon R9 200 series board.

I installed Premiere Pro CS 6.0 on a brand new system.
Win 8.1,
i7 3.4 GHz on an Asus Sabertooth
16 Gig memory
AMD Radeon R9 290 Graphics Board with the latest drivers and Bios.
On starting Premiere I get the (as I noticed quite frequent appearing) error message that Premiere cannot find a capable play module and the suggestion to update my video drivers.
I tried everything I found in this forum or on the web:
Installed the latest drivers
Run the program as an administrator
Updated the Graphics board Bios
Updated Premiere CS6
Started Gpusniffer in CMD-mode to find out what board it found and added that to the cuda_supported_cards.txt in the Premiere directory.
All to no avail. The app will simply not start.
The Gpusniffers report states:

As I invested a lot in the CS6 Master Collection I am not considering an update tot the CC version, also because the same problem occurs in that version too.
I would be much obliged if someone has an answer that truly will work. This problem costed me the best part of two days’ work and fouled up my workflow considerably.

This makes me think it's using that graphics "card" ( probably built into mobo ? ...called 'onboard graphics ? )
This stuff gets tricky and sometimes the only way to make windows 'recognize' the pci graphics card is to actually take it out and boot, and then put it back in...
Then you get mssg " windows detected new hardware" and you install the drivers...
usually bios gives you choice of using onboard graphics or not ( but this too is wanky sometimes...sorry to say ...)
I recently ( this past year ) had a similar sort of situation but have a desktop, where its easy for me to take off side panel and pull the pci-e graphics card and boot, and get that horrible low res default screen...turn off, install card, reboot etc...
but anyway, it sounds to me like you're notebook is using that mobile graphics driver stuff and not the radeon. Somehow you've got to make it switch to that graphics card is maybe your solution.
sorry I dont have notebook but maybe someone else here does and can help more...

I dont know how much you know about windows stuff, but after you disable that intel thing and get your low res screen.. you DID try to update the driver for that card using 'my computer / device manager ' right ??

CS6 & AMD Radeon HD 8690M

Hi, I am getting a laptop (not really for video editing) but sported the AMD Radeon HD 8690M was on the list of GPUs supported by PP CS6. One option is a used 'Dell Latitude E6440 - 14" Laptop - Intel i5 @ 2.7GHz' (which has the Radeon card) . I know it will perform piss poor with PP, and I will probably have to transcode to DNxHD but was wondering if it would work for simple news-scutting type edits. This may be occasional useful so thought I would ask here. I have a top end i5 I use for video editing so this would only be used very locationally if atall.

Sorry, but the card is not on the CS6 list.

Graphics Error AMD Radeon HD 7640G/7670M Dual GPU

I am facing a problem with my HP Pavilion g6-2301ax Notebook PC with AMD Radeon HD 7640G/7670M Dual GPU (2 GB DDR3 dedicated) with Windows 8 64-bit. I haven't made any changes to the hardware/software nor have I connected any new hardwares.
I cannot watch Videos no matter what program I use, be it VLC, Media Player, etc. The programs simply crashes. It takes quite a considerable time to boot and Restart/Shut-Down, than before. Here's a screenshot of the error message...
Also, the AMD Catalyst Control Centre keeps crashing...
Before, the Graphics Control Interface was totally different. The so called "Hydra Grid" wasn't there. The Control Menu had more options and the ability to customise. Since, it is a Dual GPU, there was an option whether to choose both or just one. This problem started like 2-3 days back.
I am really really frustrated. Because of this, my work is getting hampered a lot. Also, it doesn't read an external Hard Drive which has USB 3.0, even though the "safely remove icon" is shown at the task bar. And now, because of this I can't even Back-up my files on to the external hard drive in order to Recover or Restore it to Factory Settings.
Somebody help me.

I understand that you are unable to play videos regardless of what player you try. You have not made any physical changes to your notebook or added any external hardware.
When you connected your External drive you get the safely remove icon but does not install the drive.
If you look in device manager does the external drive have any bangs or error on it. Have you checked the manufacturers site for a driver for it?
If you check disk management does it have a drive letter assigned to it?

You state this happened only 2 -3 days ago and you cannot do a restore as the external is not being seen correctly but you should be able to do a recovery back to factory.
Do you know in updates were automatically installed?

Gaming problem blurring, freezing and going with onboard GPU with the AMD Radeon HD 7560D

HP Pavilion p7-1534 Desktop, OS windows 8, My problem is that i can not play games with out them blurring and or freezing and going. And i updated the drivers to see if that would solve the problem but it did not. I did diagnostic on the GPU but it said it was OK. I tried lower game settings it still does it. I am using the onboard GPU to play games and it is AMD Radeon HD 7560D Graphics. My CPU is AMD A8-5500 APU.

Unable to Launch Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 using High-Performance on AMD Radeon Graphic Card

I have been unable to launch Adobe Premiere Pro since installing it with the error message "Adobe Premiere Pro could not find any capable video play modules. Please update your video display drivers and start again"
Here are my specs:
Lenovo Ideapad U400
Windows 7 (64bit)
Intel i5 2.5 ghz processor
AMD Radeon 6470M graphics card
The only occasion during which I have successfully launched Premiere Pro was after reverting to the default graphics card on my computer and uninstalling AMD Radeon, otherwise, I have tried to change Premiere Pro to run on High-Performance on Catalyst Control Center to no avail, I do not wish to revert to the Standard Graphics Card as it slows down my computers performance one hell of a lot, neither do I wish to have to constantly uninstall and reinstall my AMD Radeon Graphics Card when I use Premiere Pro. Thank you for your time.

Update:
- with Intel (R) HD Graphics Card disabled, Catalyst Control Center reports that no AMD Graphic card is installed
- using Device Manager under Control Panel, AMD Radeon 6470M was verified to be up-to-date
- Premiere Pro works so long as I disable the Intel card before launch, however, I re-enable it upon startup to get rid of the 800x600 resolution
- AMD Mobility Radeon Driver Verification Tool is unable to verify and update my driver, refers me to lenovo to update it.
- My graphics card is up-to-date as verified by lenovo
- Intel (R) HD Graphics Card now up-to-date
- Display currently mainly using Intel (R) HD Graphics Card (Possibly why it caps resolution at 1024x768 when disabled) I'm not sure how to switch the main Graphics Card used, Catalyst Control Center doesn't seem to have the option.
- when disabled, computer reverts to vgasave instead of Radeon
- Disabling Radeon does nothing to existing display
- After updating my Intel card, Catalyst Control Center reported CCC was not supported by the current display adapter
- CCC worked after rolling back Intel card
From what I infer, I believe the problem to root from my intel card being the main card used, if there is anyway to switch my radeon card to the default instead of the Intel card, do tell me, I believe this may solve the problem, I apologise for troubling you guys, and I'm starting to feel that I shouldn't be troubling Adobe with my problem with AMD, this discussion is probably really out of place but I hope it will help out others with a similar problem.

Photoshop CC only detects Intel GPU instead of AMD Radeon (Win8)

I am running a pc with Win 8 and Intel i7-3630QM CPU.
On my system I am running 2 Video Cards, both Intel HD Graphics 4000 and AMD Radeon HD 7670M.
I set my switchable cards to high performance when using photoshop.exe, but when I check in PS Preferences, the detected Graphic Processor is Intel HD 4000.
How can I set my AMD radeon for higher performances?

With dual-GPU's, it is often necessary to disable the Intel GPU, usually in the computer's BIOS.
Many laptops have dual GPU's, to allow them to run with low power consumption (on the Intel), and then they automatically switch to the AMD/ATI, or nVidia GPU, depending on which chip is installed, for more graphically intensive work. That often works well, but not in all cases. In most of those anomaly instances, the switching in the BIOS takes care of the issue - inconvenient? Yes, but often necessary. Some users have had good results by disabling the Intel in the OS's Control Panel, rather than at the hardware level with the BIOS.

Amd Radeon 6770m gpu stopped getting detected

hello everyone, i was using my hp pavilion dv6 6070se laptop the other day just browing the internet when the laptop suddenly powered off as if the battery got disconnected, it wasn't a temp. problem because i always keep it in check and the laptop didn't feel warm at all, then when i powered it back on it was runing on the intel gpu and my radeon gpu just vanished, it wasn't getting detected by the device manager and i even tried re-installing the driver but even the catalyst install manager doesn't detect a radeon hardware, can someone please help??

Thanks for posting back. From what i am seeing here, the first thing i would try is a system restore back to when the hardware was detected. If there was any updates or other hardware related software ran on the system that could have made changes could have caused this issue.
Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 7)
If you still have the issue after taking your system back to a time that you know it was working ok try this.

After Effects and enabling GPU with the AMD Radeon R9 M295X

I have the new 27in iMac with an AMD Radeon R9 M295x. As far as I can tell, I am limited to CPU rendering in After Effects.
I keep reading that GPU is available as long as I don't need CUDA and nVidia for Ray Tracing.
As it is, I'm only seeing CPU available. GPU is grayed out.

Show a screenshot of exactly what you're seeing that has you concerned. From your brief description, it seems that everything is functioning normally.

AMD Radeon HD 6630M Compatibility

I would like to purchase a DELL Vostro laptop with `Core i5` and `AMD Radeon HD 6630M`.
I'm not completely sure, but it will probably have the integrated `Intel Graphics HD 3000` card as well.
From your experience / knowledge, will this video card work with Arch (or Linux in general)? Will it _definitely_ be difficult to get working?

I am with the same problem as you are, currently I can turn off the radeon card with vga_switcheroo, but I can't use this card at all, when I switch to the radeon card and I restart Xorg it says client refuses to switch and my computer freezes so I have to hard reset the computer. I am with the open source driver, anyone knows what can be the problem? Thanks

GPU support in PS CS6

Immediately after installation of PS CS6 the application correctly detected my grafics adapter AMD HD7750 and in the PS GPU settings the grafic processing unit support was activated.
Now this option is deactivated and cannot be activated any more. PS6 states that using this feature is not supported by the standard edition, what is surprising as I had installed the same edition on my notebook (with a AMD radeon HD7400M) and there it works fine, and initially it had worked on my PC, too.
On my PC the last action I can remember was to attach a second monitor to the DVI port of the onboard grafics card Intel HD4600. (my system has as well an Intel card onboard and an AMD Sapphire PCIe grafics card)
The windows primary desktop is assigned to the first monitor which is connected via DVI with the AMD HD7750 card.
Would you recommend to uninstall and reinstall PS CS6 on the PC or is another easier solution for this problem available ?

It was helpful to read that the wording of the error message shown by Adobe PS is still not the best.
The problem I had could neither be resolved by downloading the latest AMD drivers and the latest Intel drivers.
Therefore I resolved the problem with change of hardware.
I deactivated the Intel onboard card and connected the second display with a new cable to the AMD Sapphire HDMI port.
Now both displays can be used and Adobe does no longer report a problem caused by a Intel HD4600 card existing in my system.
Therefor I close this question now.

Can no longer use Automate (Batch) (AMD Radeon)

I've spent hours trying to troubleshoot this problem. I have a new computer that I purchased about four months ago. When I first installed Photoshop and tried Automate to put watermarks on my photos, everything worked fine. I gave that a break for a few months and today was trying to watermark some new photos. Since then there has been a driver update for my AMD Radeon HD 7900 to the Catalyst 12.8 drivers. I have the latest Photoshop downloaded from the website.
Now when I try to use Automate and Batch, it starts then crashes abruptly. I've exhausted all efforts and have Googled for hours. I've tried uninstalling drivers to the 12.6 version of Catalyst, uninstalled Photoshop, reinstalled. Same problem. Under Performance, the Sniffer detects an error in the display driver. Some have suggested using software to sweep for old driver files. That's the only thing I haven't tried.
I know people had the same issue as this, but had to do with TWAIN but I don't have a scanner installed.

I don't normall result to asking on forums and prefer to figure out problems myself. I'm way backlogged on getting my photos edited and I need to get them watermarked and uploaded as quickly as possible. Any help would be appreciated.

Only thing I can think of at this point is a full Windows reinstallation. Not actually having the exact same board you have I can't really say for certain that Photoshop CAN work with a 7970.
There is also the possibility that your 7970 is somehow faulty, though you wouldn't think it would work to do the other things you do if that were the case.
All I can say is that I've been doing 3D work all day and the 7850 does work with Photoshop - though to be honest I've had a couple of crashes today when trying to set the color of the 3D Materials. Thankfully Photoshop auto-saved my behind, and when it came back up the same operation to set the material color worked.
