We bought a reconditioned IMac and time capsule,about a month ago the hard drive died and only left our files on the capsule which could not be retrieved from the time capsule so it got stored as a file on the operating system
Our IMac's hard drive died and we thought great we bought a time capsule to back up the immages and files,except when we had the hard drive replaced the time capsule did not recognize the newer opperating system and would not reboot the files back,so the apple store tech loaded them into a file folder and loaded them to the main screen and erased the time capsule,the problem now is how to load this file back permenantly and watch video's that are stored,when in I Photo when I try to view video content I get a message stating that I may need to download more software to support this format.
If anyone is reading this still looking for what caused the issue and how to fix it here is what I discovered.
The antivirus program our company uses, Bitdefender Antivirus Plus, was causing some of the PDF files not to open. After troubleshooting the different modules and settings the culprit was..
Scan SSL in Privacy Control Settings. Turning it OFF solved the problem and all the PDF files that previously would not open now open just fine. This issue has been sent to Bitdefender for them to review. If you use a different antivirus program and are having this issue try locating the Scan SSL setting and see if turning it off solves the problem.

They only installed the Snow Leopard OS on it, and there were many software programs that came with the iMac originally.. now missing. Does anyone know whether Apple will resupply these? No bootable bakup/clone or Time Machine backup? No initial install discs? If no to both of those, call 1-800-MY-APPLE and request replacement discs for that machine. They're available for a nominal S&H charge.

My hard drive died and I need to resync my Ipad. Will following the initial instructions for syncing work or do I need to restore my original files from the dead hard drive.
If the hard drive that crashed is the one that stored the itunes library, be sure to restore the library from Time Machine (mac) or whatever backup you use on windows. That will get back your music. I suspect that the replacement drive has an empty itunes library and thus, perhaps, the itunes match used that to sync to its servers.
Try posting in the iTunes Match forum, you'll probably find more knowledgeable folks there.

Time Machine appears to be doing back-ups, but they do not appear on the external hard drive. The last one I can find is June 30. I did a utility scan of the hard drive disk and it is fine. What do I do?
Click the Time Machine icon in the menu bar. The time of the last backup is shown in the drop down.

How do I transfer data from and Ipad/iphone to an imac with a different address then initally setup with? Our hard drive died and was replaced free of charge by Apple, our data was lost on the hard drive but exists on our small devices.
Since Apple replaced the hard drive does that mean you have AppleCare? If so, call them. If not, you must have paid pretty good to get it replaced and so I would think you have some possible right to ask a followup question at the store that did it.

The simplest solution would to restore from your back up - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4112
If you do not have a back, you can select first track on list in song view, from menu > edit > select all. Next ctrl+click and select download from pop up. You may wish to do this in small batches as it will take some time to download.

Since you lost the installation(s) without deactivating them first you probably should contact Adobe Support thru chat and ask them to reset your activations so that you have the two available to you in case you want to have a backup installation on another machine. When I did a Google search on "1416 error ipod 5th," there is some discussion that the earlier version of the logic board only accepted 30 and 60 GB drives (or words to that effect), but the later "5.5" version did allow larger capacity drives. If that info is true, the question is, do you have a compatible combination of logic board and hard drive?

Some of us still use the older Macs and have plenty of spare parts and accessories. The key is finding a Mac User Group by googling your geographic area to find one of us. We happen to be in Washington State and could help you in a heartbeat.
When someone says that their computer died, the first question to ask is if the hard drive died or a power supply. If the hard drive died without a backup, you have an expensive data recovery process to explore. If the computer died because of some other cause, the hard drive can still be put into an external drive and data copied over to another drive.
Your first task is to find someone who has all the tools. What you are asking is a very simple matter for someone with plenty of older computers on hand. Please give more information about what the computer is doing. Does it still make noise when you turn it on? Does it chime? Does the hard drive click? Is it just the monitor that does not come on? Do you see a flashing ? when you turn on the computer. Every noise means something different.
