We share an apple id how can we stop getting each others contacts

please help

This is caused by multiple people sharing the same iCloud account..  When you do this any data you sync with the shared iCloud account such as contacts is merged and will appear on all devices sharing the account.  To fix this you both need to have separate iCloud accounts (you can continue to share the same Apple ID for purchasing from the iTunes and app stores).
Begin by deciding which deivce will be keeping the current iCloud account.  On the one that will be changing accounts, if there are any photos in photo stream that are not in the camera roll or backed up somewhere else save these to your camera roll by opening the photo stream album in the thumbnail view, tapping Edit, then tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share and tap Save to Camera Roll.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from this device, not from iCloud.  The device that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.)  When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On [iDevice].  Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom).  Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to the new account.
Finally, to un-merge the data you will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't want (such as deleting the other person's contacts from your account, and vice versa).
You should also avoid using the same Apple ID for iMessage and FaceTime (or you're likely to get each other's text messages and FaceTime calls).  If you're currently sharing an ID for these services, on one of the devices go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a separate ID (such as your separate iCloud ID).  For FaceTime, do the same thing in Settings>FaceTime.

    Hello cmdenham97
The question I have is how are using your Apple ID on both of the iPhones. If it is just for purchases, then you can just have that Apple ID for purchases and then have separate accounts for iCloud to sync that data. Check out the article below for more information.

  • We have 2 iphones 4 and one ipod touch and they all use the same apple address for purchases.  How do we stop getting each others texts?

We are recieveing each others texts, it has only happened since we upgrated to iOS6.  We only get each others iMessages.

You have two issues: 1. iPad is designed for single person use, not multiple users like a computer is, 2. Everyone trying to use this "single person" device uses the same Apple ID. As far as iMessage is concerned, this is the same person...how would it know differently?
There is no solution to fix this. Even if everyone got their own Apple ID's, you're still trying to use a device, designed to be used by a single user, with multiple users. It simple is not gonna work, and if you manage to get it to work, it won't work very well.

How do i make icloud work if my husband and I share the same itunes account but we dont want to get each others contacts, messages, apps etc?

Each of you should set up your separate iCloud account on your own computer using your Apple ID. This gives you two independent iCloud accounts.
Note that an iPad is not a multi-user device. It can only be synced with one account.

See this thread about disable specific software update in Mountain Lion.
There is some confusion about how to apply the method in the replies to that topic. A somewhat easier to understand explanation is at http://www.macobserver.com/tmo/article/hide-a-software-update-in-os-x-mountain-l ion, among other places on the web.
Note that you may need to click on the "more" item to see individual system software updates.
That said, the others are right: the RAW format updates are tiny & it is hardly worth the effort to hide them or to worry about the disk space they use.

For the Notes issue, on the iMac go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > iCloud and insure Notes is one of the items checked.

Since getting an iPad at Xmas , we facetimed a mutual contact  on the ipad , now messages I send from my iPhone 3GS to that contact show up on my husbands iPhone 4 . He does use my iCloud and iTunes account as we share music . How can I stop my messages going to his iPhone ?

    Hello lisa.burton35,
If what you want to do is share your purchases with one Apple ID and have other stuff separate, that's pretty easy.
Check out the section "Use one Apple ID for iCloud and a different Apple ID for Store purchases" in this article.
Set up your Apple ID for iCloud and iTunes - Apple Support
Basically he would use your Apple ID for the Stores (iTunes, Apps, iBooks) and his Apple ID for everything else (Mail, Contacts, Calendars, FaceTime, Messages etc).
Now if he has been purchasing stuff on his own account then you would have to make some choices on the purchase accounts.
You may also want to check out Family Sharing, which allows people to share purchases within a familly, each having their own IDs.

  • Me and my wife share itunes acct for iour iphones and ipads how do we stop geting each others e-mails on our own devices

me and my wife have iphones and ipads but we seam to get each others e-mails and would like to keep them seperate how do we do that when shareing one itunes acct

According the this: http://www.apple.com/mobileme/transition.html, "After moving to iCloud, family member accounts are no longer linked to the master account."  You can share an iCloud calendar (see http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2690), but I don't think you will be able to share iCloud contacts unless you are signed into the same iCloud account on both phones.

  • We have 3 devices used by 3 different people under the same Apple ID, how do I stop getting my daughters texts, both sent and received?

We have 3 devices used by 3 different people under the same Apple ID, how do I stop receiving my daughters texts? Both sent and received.

When you use the same Apple ID on 3 devices it means you are all using the same (email, imessaging, calendar etc).  Since iCloud (MobileMe) is designed to be shared across all devices included Macs, it means all devices setup with the same ID will have access to the information.
Text messaging is relevant only to the number you are texting.  This is done through your telecom companys lines and not on Apples.
If you do not want to have others be able to read any of your information then it is best you each have your own account.

  • How can I stop Facebook renaming my contacts?

I have a Mac running Mountain Lion, an iPhone 4 running iOS 6 and an original iPad running iOS 5.
iOS 6 and Mountain Lion brought Facebook integration, which among other things, lets me link the Facebook information of my contacts, with the iCloud entry I already have for them. Nice touch, I thought.
I have done this linking for most of the entries on my iPhone and it is nice and neat now. In each case I can choose which name to use for the unified card, and in all cases I have chosen the iCloud entry as the name, because some of my contacts have 'comedy' names for themselves on Facebook and I want to control how I name them on my phone.
All is well, but these contacts peridoically rename themselves back to the Facebook entry name, and I have to manually reset it. It stays like that for a while and then again, all of a sudden it changes back. I'm not totally sure but it could be an iTunes sync which is resetting the names to Facebook defaults, or maybe an iCloud thing? I'm lost because now there are so many sources to check and potential places where the wrong setting could be applied across all the devices.
How can I stop this happening? I don't want my contacts renaming themselves in my phone list against my wishes. Why are my choices about which name to use for the unified card being overridden?
    Anyone have any ideas?
I'm tempted to turn the bloody Facebook integration off as it seems to be a bit more trouble than it's worth. As usual, nice idea but very beta-esque...

I have this exact same problem. One solution is having your friends change their fake aliases on Facebook to their real bloody names, but I realise this is no easy fix.
