Web Analysis report loading problem

Hi,
I have made my report on Web Analysis. I could open and edit it till yesterday. But now whenevr I try to open it I get an error popped up saying "Error loading document". I am not able to figure out why am i facing this problem. Could anybody please help me on same.

Just check with your (essbase)administrator has set any security filters to the users having this problem

Issue while opening the web analysis reports

Hi,
One of our user is not able to open a web analysis report with an error messages saying
"Java.Lang.Exception: Unexpected HTTP status code of 500 received from server"
"Document does not exist or no authorization to open the document"
Other users with the same level of access are able to open the report fine and also the same user is able to access the report fine with a test id from his machine.
What could be wrong? Any suggestions please.
The only thing I see here, something wrong with userd ID or password.

Hi,
I had also faced this problem earlier. I was using HFM as data source for WA reports. After searching I found that there was some change at HFM level. Some dimensions/members had been deleted or added in HFM. And I was using those missing members in WA Grid.
I had to recreate my reports again as I didn't get any other way to deal with this problem.
Please shared any other alternative option, if you found while working on this issue.

Unable to open web analysis reports through workspace

Hi,
I am connecting web analysis with MSSQL server 2000 and generating reports. I am using essbase 9.3.1 version.
But my problem now is that I can just open these reports from web analysis studio and cannot open them from workspace. In workspace, if I right click on the report and open it from web analysis studio it does open. But it does not open by double clicking the report in workspace. It just shows a blank report on just parts of the report.
The issue is only there for the reports that are getting data from relational db (MSSQL server 2000). The other reports that are using the cube data are fine and opening from everywhere.
Are there any other configuration settings involved in order to open a web analysis report(that uses relational db) from workspace?

This has several tests you can perform to see what's running.

Drill Down and Drill UP on Web Analysis Report

Hi all,
I have a question regarding Drill down and Drill up on Web Analysis Report.
The situation is the following:
I've created a report with some account parent elements in row. The dimension account has a multiple hierarchy.
I need to drill down on the child of these elements keeping the parente on top and so i've selected the option "Selected Member First".
The drill down it's ok for the first drill to go on the next level but when i drill down once more to go on the next level of the selected member hierarchy the drill move this level out hierarchy.
Can someone help me on this point?
After that i've drilled just to the last level when i drill up on these elements to return on the previous level i note that in the report happens a strange thing:
The Drill Up works fine but on the report appears another elements which is the same parent with anothe code/alias of another hierarchy instead of the Selected member.
On this i've noted tha this 2 different parente have the same elements...I think that the children of the selected memeber can be shared members....Can be this the problem?

If I take only one parent member the drill up works fine but if i take all 2 memeber as above and i decide to drill up on one of the two element occur that the drill work for the two elements at the same time.
Afetr the drill in this case the situation is:

ED05101010-PUBBLICITA'
Can be a problem due to shared memebers?

Error while opening the web analysis reports.

Whenever i am trying to open any web analysis reports i am getting the error message as "error occurred while opening document. document Id={0}. Is anyone have any idea about this issue.

Q:- Migrating version 6 Web Analysis reports directly to version 11 ??

Trying to migrate version 6 Web Analysis reports directly to version 11.1.1.2 without first migrating to version 9, because of some time constraints.
Overall it works fine, except for some issue with PV (Personal Variables) in those reports.
The PVs are present in the version 6 xml export file, but somehow not being picked up in version 11.1.1.2 Web Analysis import.
Has anyone tried to migrate version 6 Web Analysis reports to version 11.1.1.2 and faced this kind of issue?
I am wondering if there is any change in the xml tags because of which the migration from 6 to 11 is not working.
Anyone has any thoughts or ideas to quickly migrate web Analysis reports from 6 to 11. There are hundreds of reports that need to be migrated.

I think we need to change the database connection details in the Web analysis.
goto file --> Edit --> browse the database connection then change the server name in the connection details.
may be this will help to resolve your issue.

Web Analysis Report Migration from 9.3.1. to 11.1.1.3

Hi All,
We are migrating from 9.3.1 to 11.1.1.3 we have couple of web analysis reports running on the old server 9.3.1 and now i have to migrate those reports on the new server 11.1.1.3. Reports in 9.3.1 are in windows servers and it should me migrated to 11.1.1.3 which is on a solaris server. please let me me know if you have any ideas regarding this issue.

I have checked migration utility inversion 9.x basically this migration utility is compatible for reports from version 7.x to 9.x and it is not supported for reports from 9.x to 11.x ....
So i have finally fallowed a procedure.
I have exported the reports from 9.x and imported in 11.x .
Then after exporting i have pointed database connections to new 11.x version server.
Now I was facing a issue when i open a reports in read only mode (i.e as a business user) iam getting a screen where it asks for database details ( I have assigned business user read access to essbase)
Basically this reports are pointing to my old essbase server i.e version 9.x server.
Please let me if iam missing something while exporting and importing reports.

Web Analysis reports based on Planning application

All,
I have migrated planning application from dev to prod using LCM, planning version 11.1.1.2. everything has been migrated and working fine.
Web Analysis reports, and Database connections are also migrated from DEV to PROD.
User has uploaded some PLAN data for FY10 through smartview on PROD server, but unable to see the data using Database connection migrated from DEVL but he can see the data when he creates new database connection on PROD.
both database connections are from same database but he cannot see any new data uploaded through smartview with old database connection and he have tons of reports based on old database connection.
can I change database connection for old reports with new database connection or do I need to fix something on my planning side.
Please provide some suggestions. I can give more info if required.

Hi,
LCM will have created xml exports with the database connection information in them.
If you open one of the xml database connection exports you will see something like
<server-name>localhost</server-name>
<application-name>PLANSAMP</application-name>
<database-name>Consol</database-name>
You would need to update the information such as the servername in the files then import them in again using LCM.

Not able to open web analysis reports after upgradation

we have upgraded Hyperion 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.2 version, after this process we are not able to open web analysis reports
These reports are still pointing to old servers so, how to edit this database connection details in the new version??

I think we need to change the database connection details in the Web analysis.
goto file --> Edit --> browse the database connection then change the server name in the connection details.

How to Set up the User POV in Web Analysis report

Hi , I am new to create the Hyperion Web Analysis report.
I am trying to set up the user POV. I have followed the document and did the below steps.
1. I went to User preference -> OLAP Server -->checked the BOX "Save Filters only for POV".
2. selected the layout and in options checked the Use user POV.
after that I have opened the report in HTML. nothing got prompted.
When I opened the Financial report, It will prompt user to select the year, period, entity, etc... I need the same way in Web Analysis also.
I have selected Accounts in rows, Entity, Year, Period in columns , rest all i kept in Filters.
Could some one please help me how user can get prompted to select the members from dimensions.

What you have in Webanalysis is POV and PV
Applying Point of View (POV)
Selecting Personal Variables
You can also look at Oracle - Hyperion Labs......: WebAnalysis - how to show the current user's report when he logs in to see how PV can be leveraged.
There is no prompt option in WebAnalysis

Disable Drill options only for one dimension of Web Analysis report

Hi,
Please help me on below issue.
I created a web analysis report with 3 dimensions Accounts, MRC and Measure. I have to disable drill down and drill up options only for Measure. Accounts and MRC should be drillable where as Measure should show the selected member as static and not drillable.

Hi Swetha,
You must've realized that- Even if you select only the desired members, you end up being able to drill-down unwanted members. Correct ? :)
The only way, I believe, is- To create a users' group at your Data source side, perhaps, Essbase & provision this new group with a Metaread filter which prevents him/her from Drilling down to the leaf node.
PS: Giving Read access might also let the user not see the data for children. But, if you want to hide the members also, Metaread+ is the way to go.

How to arrange page dropdowns in the Web Analysis report

I have created a Web Analysis document based on my Esssbase cube. This document contains just one grid with 7 dropdowns. All dropdowns are in one line above and they are narrowed so as they all fit into 1 line within the screen and I cannot see the full names of members within a dropdown. So I need advice on how I can arrange the dropdowns in my Web Analysis report so that I can see the full names of members when opening the dropdown? Thank you so much!

Yes, it works if one creates dropdowns via combo box controls attached to the same data source as the spreadsheet and applying these controls via the service button control (in this case you do not create page dropdowns in the data layout window of the spreadsheet and leave them in the data layout window's Filter pane). Otherwise it is impossible to edit the size and position of page dropdowns created in the Data Layout window of the spreadsheet.

in the member properties, you have an option to show alias, member name, or both. Click on both / alias as per the requirement

Need assistance in Hyperion Web Analysis Report

Hi All,
I am using HFM with Oracle database as the data source for reports and using Hyperion 931 components.
I have a requirement in Key Performance Indicators reports (KPI)
1) Need to have a custom column of current year Actuals Vs Plan data
2) Need to have a custom column of current year Actuals Vs prior year Actuals data
3) Need to indicate Font colours based on the values derived in columns (1) and (2) - if positive data - green colour
if negative data - red colour
I am trying to replicate this in Web Analysis report, but facing issues on
1)Making this year value dynamic (shd change based on current year or atleast should prompt when we run report)
2) Since i have fixed the report with 2008 and 2007 year, all the formattig made whiel creating the Report goes away, if i try to run the report with different year values like in 2010 and 2009 year (as current and prior year)
3) Also, i have hided some coulumns based on our requirement which also no longer exists if i change the year values (available in coulmns)
Please suggest any comments to resolve these issues, Moreover i am new to Web Analysis reporting tool ,so kindly suggest, if i am not using any of the existing WebAnalysis features to derive my requirement.

Hi Siva,
If you are using the Essbase as a data source then you can achieve these things from using the substitution variable in WA report.
Assume you have a substitution variable in Essbase cube for current year. In WA report in Dimension Browse, right-click a dimension member and select "Substitution Variable”. The Substitution Variable dialog box is displayed. Here select a substitution variable from the list of Essbase substitution variables.
To get the Prior year, again in Dimension Browse, right-click a dimension member and select the "Also select Previous". Here define the prior year that you want to use in your report.
Sorry, I have no idea about the substitution variables in the HFM (It might be that we call the substitution variable with another name in HFM).

Indeed, it is possible to link a web analysis report in a planning custom menu.
Follow this procedure :
- From the explorer :
-> Go to the folder where your web analysis report is stored
-> Right click on the document and left click on "properties"
-> Copy the "smartCut" link
- From your planning application :
-> Edit the menu where you want to link your webanalysis report :
-> Create a URL item and past the link in the input field
