Web Dynpro for Accepting Data Changes

Hi,
I have a requirement where I need to give a screen with the fields of
| Customer|.Material | Enduser | Market | Market Segment | . Customer & Enduser is Compounter to Material. and Maket & Market Segment are Attribute of Material Master( Z Object).
We are using these objects in COPA Cube. Market & Market Segment are NA. There are millions of records in Customer / Material /End user combination. But there is no data maintained for Market & Market Segment.
We want to maintain where there is any sale happend for Customer Material and Enduser combination.
I created a Query to filtered the record with sales fall in this period with out market & Market segment. And used APD to updated it to DSO.
Now i want it to present to User to enter the data in the Market & Market Seg fields for the Material/Customer/Enduser combination.
Please let me know your thoughts on this. We are trying to build a WEB DYNPRO for this. But will a Dynpro will accept the data and change/update it in the backend table ?
Points are sure for proper guidance.

In terms of Complexity .. I would rate the following in this order :
1. BSP
2. WDA
3. WDJ / VC
(* I have not worked in WDA and hence this ranking )
In terms of Presentability :
1. VC
2. WDA / WDJ
3. BSP
The main reason being that BSP renders in Plain HTML and you can make the BSP interesting and more presentable using Embedded flash objects / HTMLB etc ... I am referring to plain BSP Pages .
The rendering options are much better in WDA and VC would give you a better front end ... but then VC does not lend itself into a User Entry tool - bbut more of a reporting / display tool....
You can use BSP and formatting options not withstanding - you can just create a WDA with Flash Islands .... to make the most of both worlds...
I am not sure if this is simple in VC - you might have to get into the JCO conections etc for making the field editable. WDA with flash islands is much more manageable but then forthis you need to be in EHP1...

Full ABAP Edition-Trial (with Web Dynpro for ABAP) Max DB data volume

I recently installed Full ABAP Edition-Trial (with Web Dynpro for ABAP)- SPS08.

Is it correct?
or it's better to add another volume?
The other question is
according to the license installation guide,
it sounds like we can delete the temp licese with SAP*.
so I did like that but i got the following message

Hello,
to your first question.
The MaxDB database has a feature which can
increase the database automatically.
This ( auto_extend ) is turned on for the SDN Preview
installation.
That means the database should extend a further datavolume
automatically when the filling level gets over 90%.
In your case the database already added two more datavolumes. The installation only creates one.

Text editing in Web Dynpro for ABAP

Hi
I am interested in getting ideas on the best way to achieve the following functionality in Web Dynpro for ABAP:
1) A text-editor where some basic formatting is possible (Italic, Bold, etc.) for the user to enter formatted text.
2) Save this text in some format to the dictionary maintaining the text formatting.
3) This saved text should appear on a PDF printview from the WebDynpro. Of course the formatting should appear on the screen as it was created with the text-editor.

N4S: Web Dynpro for ABAP layout editor not working

Have problem in Layout editor in Web Dynpro for ABAP
I have installed NW04S Testdrive on 64bit Linux and able to login.
SE80 is working alright.
Next I create a Web Dynpro Comp. / Intf. and create a component.
I double click on the View name "V_Default" . The Layout editor opens on the right side. Change into Edit Mode.
The "View Elements" panel on the left side of layout editor is missing. This is where we select the various elements like "Textview" etc.
Even the right click on the "ROOTUIELEMENTCONTAINER" to insert elements using context menu does not work.
In summary I am not able to add any element in WD4A Layout screen.
Is there any special plugin required to be installed?
How to solve this problem?

This is available with netweaver 2004s (WAS7.0) for which ramp up is going on right now and the general availability is expected sometime around 1st quarter for 2006.

Import Data from Office Control (Web Dynpro for ABAP) into internal-Table

I have a question concerning the Office Control UI-Eelement in Web Dynpro for ABAP:
How can I import spreadsheet data from the Office Control into a internal-table?
I have an Excel-sheet (without any data) which is shown initially in the Office Control. First the empty Excel-Sheet will be loaded and in the second step data from an alvxml-transformation will be loaded into the Excel-sheet with the method 'activatexmlsource'. This works so far. When I change the loaded data in the Office Control and save it it will be stored as XLS-File. The problem is that I'm not able to use existing Upload-FM because every function module I tried uses GUI-functions and WebDynpro has no GUI-functionality. I always get the error that data from clipboard cannot be imported.
So now the question is:
How can I import changed data from the Office control into a internal-table staying in Web Dynpro application?
Please give some advice, if you have some useful code or ideas.

Hi,
Once you save to desktop again you have made some changes to that file, this file you want to upload it right.
Then in that case you need to use the FILEUPLOAD UI element right.

Hi Kumar,
First, in order to customise the ESS webdynpro Java iViews you need to be aware that, you are about to change the SAP standard iviews. In order to avoid this you can make a copy of the SAP standard one's and then try to customise the copied one's.
Now, you should have NetWeaver Development Infrastructure(NWDI) installed. Once it is installed you should also install the Netweaver Developer Studio (NWDS) on your computer.
Once you have these two installed, you should deploy the ESS Business Package onto the NWDI by creating tracks. There is a cookbook available on SAP Service Marketplace for configuring NWDI for ESS.
Once you have all the above mentioned tools, have a look at the following blog which clearly explains about the procedure of customising ESS iviews.

Here is where I am stuck.
Wrote this code in ONACTIONSEARCH.I am getting my entries in internal table ISFLIGHT.
but unable to bind it to adobe form and show in the form.
* SELECT statement
    clear isflight. refresh isflight.
    select * into corresponding fields of table isflight from sflight
    where carrid = ls_data_selections.
* navigate from <CONTEXT> to <ADOBE_DATA> via lead selection
lo_nd_adobe_data = wd_context->get_child_node( name = wd_this->wdctx_adobe_data ).
* navigate from <ADOBE_DATA> to <SFLIGHT> via lead selection
lo_nd_sflight = lo_nd_adobe_data->get_child_node( name = wd_this->wdctx_sflight ).
lo_nd_sflight->bind_table( new_items = isflight set_initial_elements = abap_true ).
Error is Access via 'NULL' object reference not possible.
FYI.. I just dragged and dropped 2 elements from DATA to Adobe form.what are the other changes do i need to do in form gui elements so that it shows the internal table contents?

ALV Web Dynpro for ABAP enable/disable single row

hi all,
is it possible to change the layout of one single row or cell in a alv (component SALV_WD_TABLE) web dynpro for abap?
i managed to get columns to be editable using the tutorial "Editing ALV in Web Dynpro for ABAP".
but it is not described how to change a single row or cell in this tutorial. also the example programs i found do not get into this subject.
did i miss something?

Hi,
I think you cannot set the focus to the particular cell.
I think you can loop at that row of that table and set the the cell design to apply some color to differentiate that way rather than focusing so that user can know that he has to do something in that cell.

I need to develop a web dynpro application based on Floor Plan Manager Technique. can I develop this application in WebDynpro for ABAP. If so please help me how to use Floor Plan Manager Technique in Web Dynpro for ABAP.
I don't have knowledge in java, so i cann't develop this application in web dypro for java.

They are different. The FloorPlan Manager is a tool for constructing WD applications with a similar layout and user interface. There are two different floor plans currently - the OIF - Object Instance Floorplan and the GAF - Guided Activity Floorplan. The OIF is for the editing of a single business object. It allows for things like the nesting of header and item details. The GAF, on the other hand, uses a road map to walk you through an activity - much like a Guided Procedure. The FloorPlan Manager is very powerful because it can be configured using component and application configuration - allowing you to plug in different UI Building Blocks (UIBB) as Web Dynpro Components or Views. You can change the roadmap, for instance, adding a new step by just chaning this configuration and not having to touch the code. Consistency between applications is also a major stregth of the FloorPlan Manager.
The Road Map is just a UI element in WD. It can be used to create your own custom applications.

Sure. The Floorplan manager has been available for WDA since SPS13. Have a look at the packages APB_FPM_DEMO and ABP_FPM_TEST for examples of how to build components designed for the FloorPlan Manager.

Web Dynpro for ABAP iView can't work

Notification Service in Web Dynpro for Java?

Hello Experts,
I'm new on the topic "web dynpro for java" and have a question about a real-time-notification of web dynpro clients.
In web dynpro for abap ther is apparently a new solution called "Notification Service" (since NW 7.0 Ehp2).

But I found no hints how to solve the problem of a real-time notification in web dynpro for java.
Requirements for short: The server can trigger a refresh in one or more web dynpro clients.
Requirements a liitle more extended:
1. A web dynpro is running in a browser and shows data it gets from a DataBase table1
2. Now a function module1 is started by an event and changes the data in table1 on the server side, the web dynpro does not know about this event or the changes made by external components.
3. These changed data should be visible immediately in the running web dynpro after the event occurd --> trigger a refresh of the web dynpro from the function module1?
All I actually know is that: The web dynpro can update its context with the new data from table1 after a refresh of the gui (wddomodifiyview). Using a timed trigger I can get new data after x seconds (same way --> context update and gui refresh). Is there another way to refresh the web dynpro (that noticed requirements of #3) ?

I recommend that you create another Web Dynpro application with this Timer to execute an RFC. This application would be in a Web Dynpro iView hidden from your SAP EP and shoot an event that would be captured by another application.
However I would take great care with this type of application.
And to answer your question at the moment, to my knowledge, there is no solution for this kind of integration between the ABAP and JAVA.
