Web dynpro Interface context mapping

Hi All.
I shall tell my problem with a very simple scenario that anybody could implement in 2 min.
Webdynpro Interface component -> Z_INTER; context node: ORDER_VALUES, cardinality 0..n; table: VBAK, select VBELN.
That's it.
Now, Webdynpro component : Z_COMP -> Used component -> Z_INTER.
Inside component controller, I declare usage of Z_INTER. Then do a direct mapping of ORDER_VALUES from Z_INTER to Z_COMP.
So the context node ORDER_VALUES is created in the Z_COMP component controller.
That's it.
Inside WDDOINIT() method of comp controller, read the context node's attribute VBELN.
The line:
elem_order_values = node_order_values->get_element( ).
gives a dump saying that:
The following error text was processed in the system : Error when Creating Component Z_INTER. Z_INTER Is a Component Interface, Therefore, an Instance Cannot Be Created. Name of Component May Not Be Specified. (Used Component: Z_COMP, Component Usage: USAGE1)
Can anybody guide me how do we map interface context? I guess I am not getting the concept and am doing some fundamental mistake.

Hi Aishi,
When you use a component interface, you cannot declare it as a component usage. You need to add it under 'Implemented interfaces' and say 'reimplement'. If you want an interface node mapping between 2 components, then you have to declare a normal component. Specify the node as an 'interface node', which means it is visible to components using this component. And then do the mapping.

    Therefore I can not  Map context node NODE_FLIGHTTAB of your Web Dynpro component to context DATA of the interface controller of the ALV component.
    Could you please shed me light on this.

    Hi Chandra,
    You need to add component controller first. Just go to the property tab of interface controller of the alv component and click on create button and then add the component controller. After that you'll be able to see the node in the context tab.

      I would like to know how to set interface context attribute value of comonent B within a view of component A in programatic mode.
      It should be something like this:

    In your query consider B has BA Context which you want to fill from main componetn A
    Yes it is possible to add values from A to B but I did it only through context mapping instead of direct refrence of interface controller .
    For that you need to do context mapping .
    1) Add  B into A as used Web dynpro component .
    2) Add controller refrence in Component controller using properties of WDC.
    3) Map the context element from Interface controller to Component controller
        Set values of context of component controller which will set values for context 
        of A
    4) Only issue here is if you want to refresh values frequently you might need to create and destroy component each time . Not sure about it . In my case I m intitalising all context of B in  init of A itself.

    I have a scenario, in which I require to create a web dynpro, which will be utilized in a Callable Object, inside GP.  This web dynpro will be like a form, which will be fed from 2 sources. 
    • An external Web Service, that brings information from a website, spefically from a catalog. 
    • Information filled by the user, in the fields of the form. 
    In short, the form is composed of information supplied by a Web Service and information completed by the user. 
    I would like to know if is possible to create a web dynpro, in NWDP, in order  to be included in a Callable Object, inside a Worklfow in GP.

    yes, it is possible, you can create the callable object for the webdynpro and you put it into GP work flow..

  • Question when i am in web dynpro interface method trying to find code

    Hello guys,
    I am in an event handler and i see this logic wd_this->mo_dodm_srchbidder_c->add_selected_bidder().  When i double click on the add selected bidder it takes me to the method inside interface /sapsrm/IF_CLL_DODM_BIDDER.   So when i double click on the method it takes me nowhere.
    My question is what do i have to do or where do i go to see the code for add_selected_bidder?   thank you.

    I think, you have visited to the definition of the interface method and not the implementation of the method.
    You have instantiated the wd_this->mo_dodm_srchbidder_c some where, may be in the wd domodifyview. Find that out where the implementation happens.
    I believe when you double click the method in  editor ask for to go to definition or implementation.

  • Web Dynpro access Application Services directly?

    We're looking at implementing some processes using Guide Procedures, and I have a question about design 'style'.
    I'm creating a data layer using Entity Services.  The entity services will be utilized by the Application Services to create a business layer.  How to do this is clear, and straightforward.
    However, where I have a question is how the automatically generated Web Dynpro application (or any other Web Dynpro application, for that matter) can interact with Application Services.  I've seen sample applications where the Web Dynpro application interacts with application services via mapping from the Web Dynpro interface layer through the GP Runtime - from my perspective, this looks like a good way to deal with a small amount of data being passed between the steps in the GP.
    The primary Web Dynpro application will let the user interact with the data, massaging it until it's in a form where the next person needs to deal with it.  I was thinking of having the Web Dynpro application interact with the Application Services layer directly to move data from the database to the web dynpro application, and back again.  The only thing that would be passed between the steps in the GP would be the guid of the primary data structure.  I would also expose a method of the Application Service as a CO which would take the guid and return the entire business object, so viewing screens could be constructed - as well, PDF's could be generated, and so on.
    Is this considered bad form in a GP, specifically accessing Application Services directly, instead of through a step in the GP?  I understand that what I want to do ties the Web Dynpro application directly to the Application Services layer, but my thinking is that the CO that encompasses the Web Dynpro should be 'atomic', in that all operations related to that specific step should be contained in a single CO.  In other words, the action of creating the business object, fiddling with it, an then submitting it upstream should be contained in one CO.

          In the Composite Application Framework scenario, you first create the Business Entities. These act as data holder. To fill the data within these entities the Application services are created. These application services are later exposed as a webservice and deployed.
                   These webservices can contain different methods along with the CRUD operations depending on the Process Flow and Design implemented. We can import the webservices as a model in the WebDynPro Component. The UI elements of the Views can be binded to the Model. So when we execute the model methods the data gets entered into the Business objects.
                   This WebDynPro component should be a callable object ( It requires some Dependencies to be added to the WebDynPro Component ). So that you can have Input/Output parameters and ResultStates. These parameters are useful if you have to pass some parameters from one view to other within the same component. So this WebDynPro Callable object includes the Application service calls and also the passing of data through the GP Input/Output Structures.
                   These callable objects are then included within the Process.
      This is how I think a Composite Application must be designed.

  • Can't get BAPI return node in web dynpro!!

    I'm calling BAPI in web dynpro, I already map the <BAPIName>_Input->Output->Return to our custom controller context. I can get the value of some other output parameters in Output node, but can't get the return node.
    wdContext->currentOutputElement is Ok, but wdContext->currentBapiReturnElement is null, what is the problem??!!!
    Can anybody give me an hint, or give me a example to access the return value of Bapi??

    wdContext.currentBapi_Trip_Create_From_Data_InputElement().modelObject().execute();

    But it still can't work!
    The return node is a child note of Output, does it ok?

    I need to populate a WD table by first importing a excel/CSV file thru web dynpro screen and then reading thru the file.Am using FileUpload element from NW04s.

    Here are the basic steps needed to read data from excel spreadsheet using the Java Excel API(jExcel API).
    jExcel API can read a spreadsheet from a file stored on the local file system or from some input stream, ideally the following should be the steps while reading:
    Create a workbook from a file on the local file system, as illustrated in the following code fragment:
              import java.io.File;
              import java.util.Date;
              import jxl.*;
             Workbook workbook = Workbook.getWorkbook(new File("test.xls"));
    On getting access to the worksheet, once can use the following code piece to access  individual sheets. These are zero indexed - the first sheet being 0, the  second sheet being 1, and so on. (You can also use the API to retrieve a sheet by name).
              Sheet sheet = workbook.getSheet(0);
    After getting the sheet, you can retrieve the cell's contents as a string by using the convenience method getContents(). In the example code below, A1 is a text cell, B2 is numerical value and C2 is a date. The contents of these cells may be accessed as follows
    Cell a1 = sheet.getCell(0,0);
    Cell b2 = sheet.getCell(1,1);
    Cell c2 = sheet.getCell(2,1);
    String a1 = a1.getContents();
    String b2 = b2.getContents();
    String c2 = c2.getContents();

    However in case we need to access the cell's contents as the exact data type ie. as a numerical value or as a date, then the retrieved Cell must be cast to the correct type and the appropriate methods called. For completeness the label is also cast to it's correct type. The code snippet also illustrates how to verify that cell is of the expected type - this can be useful when performing validations on the spreadsheet for presence of correct datatypes in the spreadsheet.

    Hi,
    what browser do you use? We get many of these dumps due to ppl logging on to the web dynpro applications with a browser sap does not suppot for web dynpro. Although sap is even promoting the Web Dynpro interface for application in the internet where you cannot control the browsers used - compared to an company intranet where you usually have a common pc image with set appliacations - the support for browsers is just lousy. E.g. Safari browser on Mac is not working.

  • Web Dynpro Domino Web Service Consumer Problem

    Dear All,
    We are trying to consume a Web Service on Domino.
    The web service is working Fine on webdynpro web service checker (EP perspective, Web Service Checker), but when tested with check and deploy, the Webservice return an error:
    "Service call exception; nested exception is: com.sap.engine.lib.xml.parser.ParserException: The empty string is not acceptable for a value of an xmlns:* attribute.(:main:, row:1, col:0)"
    It is a simple web service getting a string in input and returning a simple string (xsd string in both cases),

    I initialize correctly the Web service and the field number (with new String()) in the component controller.
    When I click on the Button divide on the web dynpro interface, I call the executerequest defined in the component controller where I execute the call.
    But the response is always the same:
    Service call exception; nested exception is: com.sap.engine.lib.xml.parser.ParserException: The empty string is not acceptable for a value of an xmlns:* attribute.(:main:, row:1, col:0)
    What can i do or check, or can I debug the soap generated or received by the portal?
    Do you see something wrong?

  • Web Dynpro & Adobe Forms: Context Mapping

    Hi Experts,
    By assigning a form to a view via templateSource the option to automatically generate context. With sample data, implemented in the view its working fine.
    Now I want to use data out of the component controllers' context, but I can't map the views context nodes to the component controller nodes without deleting the context structure out of the form.
    In other words; how can I connect the automatically generated context from the form with the context of the component controller?
    How can I solve this issue?
    An option is to read out the component controllers context into itabs and save them in the views context.......
    not very nice, but my only idea right now.
    Does anyone has an idea?

    Hi again,
    I've found this [documentation|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/63a47dd9-0b01-0010-3d8e-de27242bf011?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true], chapter "Integrating a PDF in a Web Dynpro Application"  (Page 192-193) and followed the print scenario.
    My intention is not to create an interactive form. I just want to display a generated pdf which is provided with data out of web dynpro context.
    That's what I did:
    In my views' layout tab in properties list I've entered a (not existing) form name (as templateSource) to create a new form. Then double cklicked on it to create it, entered a interface name (which was not existing also) and selected a context (the context was mapped before out of the component controller). Then se80 switched to form builder. The context nodes are available so I dragged some into the form, save & activate.
    The result is, the dragged fields are visible, but there are no values assigned, the corresponding fields are empty.
    I checked whether the context nodes are filled --> they are....
    Any idea what's going wrong?

  • Web dynpro welcome example edit context mapping problem

    hi,
    i tried to build a web dynpro like the welcome example from web dynpro.
    so i created the views etc, created an atrribute matnr  in the context of the component.
    then i connected the other views with the component. for this i used the required controllers.
    so, now i created a attribute nr in the context of the other view and wanted to connect it with matnr from beginning with edit context mapping.
    but in the shown context is not the attribute matnr. there is no attribute.
    any idea what went wrong or is there something that i missed?

    Do one thing Create Value Attribute under Context like(matnr). Next Right Click on Webdynpro Component Click on Open Data Modular that time it will open data modular View. Here we are doing Context Mapping to Component Controller to View Controller that time Same Value Attribute will be created in View Controller also.
    In context mapping, the actual context data is saved only once in the original node. All other context nodes that are mapped to this original node reference the same contents, without having to save it again, for example using copies. In this way, inconsistent context contents are avoided.

  • Context from Web-Dynpro-Component-Interface & Customer Extention Fields

    Hello all,
    A main component uses a Web-Dynpro-Component-Interface and defines an external maping to it. Web-Dynpro-Component-Interface has a context and a window. At runtime implementaion of Web-Dynpro-Component-Interface is provided.
    All works fine, but how can i create an implementation with view which contains customer extention fields? Unfortunately only fields from context of Web-Dynpro-Component-Interface are visible. I can not even extend the context of Web-Dynpro-Component-Interface via enchancement framework.
    I assume, it is possible with dynamic programming, but why is it not possible in declarative way?

    Using interfaces in a Web Dynpro component benefits customers by giving them a clean basis for their own further developments. When creating a local development, you can implement a used interface in a separate component and add your own aspects to an application delivered by SAP.
