Web Gallery Linking

Hi Everyone,
This may be a simple task but I want to know if there is a way to add a link to a web gallery that I have created in Adobe Bridge CS6 Windows?
The web gallery index.html file is created fine, but I want to be able to re-link it back to my home page showing other buttons and information.
Can this be done?
Many thanks
Neil45156

Thanks for replying. I am not sure you understand what I want to do. I know how to use Dreamweaver but it's the Web Gallery that I have created from Adobe Bridge CS6. When I open the index.html file it only shows the detect Flash player text
As you can see there are no icons or text to link from or to. If I go to the xml file I can see the title tag I want to link from. What I don't know how to do is how to create a link from the xml file back to my home page.
Hope this helps anyone who can answer my question. Thanks

  • Web gallery links no longer work from iWeb

I previously added links directly to my web gallery photo albums as external links in iWeb. This no longer works. For instance, I used to be able to send people to a specific web gallery album by linking to gallery.mac.com/username#xxxxxxx where xxxxxxx is the number of the album. This recently stopped working however. iWeb seems to change the # sign to %252. Anyone know what happened?

    Kurt:
FWIW here is some info I gleamed from various sites on naming sites.
    Renaming a website or webpage
You can rename a site or page at any time by double-clicking its name in the site organizer and typing the new name.
The page name appears at the top of the visitor's browser.
The site name is included in the website's address (URL):
    http://web.mac.com/[YourMemberName]/iWeb/[SiteName]
Renamed pages and sites (as well as the site's URL) change online the next time you publish.
IMPORTANT: If you rename a site, previously created links to your site won't work; be sure to notify your visitors, especially your blog or podcast subscribers.
Browsers convert spaces in site names to "%20." To avoid these symbols, use an underscore, hyphen, or some other character instead of a space. Also avoid non-Roman characters; many get converted to numbers when you publish.
Other characters aren't recommended for use in website names, including: forward and backward slashes (/ \), brackets ([ ]), tilde (~), exclamation point !, question mark (?), "at" sign (@), number sign (#), dollar sign ($), ampersand (&), asterisk (*), colon (:), equal sign (=), comma (,), and double quotation marks ("). Using these characters may result in names with strange numbers in them.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can't navigate using back button from web gallery linked to iweb page

I have a web gallery that I enabled as a hyperlink to my iweb site. When I go to the gallery from a web page, I don't have any problem navigating to the gallery to view photos, but I am unable to navigate back to the web page using the "back" button. Instead I have to relaunch my web page in Safari; otherwise I would be "stuck" on the gallery unable to navigate to other web pages.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Load the gallery in your browser and copy the URL.
Create a text or image link and in the "Link" inspector select it as an eternal link.
Paste the gallery URL into the box and check "Open link in new window".
This way, the gallery window can be opened and closed but your original webpage will remain.

  • Iphoto web gallery link

I have exported a couple of iphoto albums to an .mac web gallery using iphoto08. I can open them in safari ok. When I try to link to these within iweb 08 using web widgets or the menu, no albums are available. Anyone had similar experiences?

When I try to link to these within iweb 08 using web widgets or the menu, no albums are available.
How did you try to do this exactly? Did you try a simple link to the url?
The normal way I think is to drag/drop from the media browser into a My Albums template.

  • Web Gallery Link Missing

I have been busy posting my albums to the web gallery. I have noticed that some of them do not show the web link in iPhoto while the photos are in fact available on the web.
If I delete and re-add the gallery sometimes the link will then appear in iPhoto, sometimes it takes several deletes and re-adds before the link appears and sometimes it has never appeared.
I can still invite folks to view the web gallery but I cannot click on a link to jump to it myself from iPhoto.

    SuperGreg:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Go to the View->Show in Toolbar menu item and select Web Gallery (and any other button you might want in the toolbar that's no checked).
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • IWeb Link to Web gallery

Hi everyone, my question is, is there a way to create a web gallery link in the link header of iWeb? I find this confusing that web gallery and iWeb don't have an option to link up. The gallery in iWeb is good, but don't have the same features that web gallery does. Since it is all hosted in the same place, it should be easy. I have HTML links in my blog now for it, but it isn't global. I have to insert an HTML link in each post. Any help would be great.
    Thanks.
    Jim

well i suppose the way it's meant to be done is to make a new blank page (calling it web gallery or whatever), press web widget and put in your web gallery albums one by one. each album has a little mini slideshow going on (and skims) and clicking on that takes you to the web gallery album proper. the problem (as far as i'm concerned) is that by making the web widgets you are making your own web gallery index page which is not as nice as the actual web gallery index page which you are bypassing.
or you could make a blank page (again calling it web gallery or whatever), leave it blank, publish it, and then edit the code so that it diverts straight to your web gallery index page. i don't know how to write code so i just copied the code on the index page and changed the destination to the web gallery address rather than the welcome page. this seems to work well. and if you know what you're doing i suppose to could also get the web gallery to open in another browser window.
or you could make a blank page (again calling it web gallery or whatever), and insert an html widget with code to divert to the web gallery. the difficulty with this is then when someone clicks on web gallery (or whatever you have called it) in the navigation menu, you then see the blank page for a fraction of a second.
anyway, i don't really know what i'm doing....i'm just trying stuff out!

  • Safari Not Able to Open .Mac Web Gallery

This is a very unexpected error. A friend sent me his web gallery link and Safari is not able to open the page. An error message appears:
"This browser is incompatible with .Mac Web Gallery.
    We support the following browsers:
    Mac OS X
Safari 2.0 or later (requires Mac OS X 10.4.10 or later)
    Firefox 1.5 or later"
Now that is very unexpected because I'm using OS X 10.5.1 and Safari 3.0.4. Wouldn't you know that I can launch it just fine using Firefox. I don't want to use Firefox and thought I would be able to use an Apple product (Safari) to actually open Apple technology (web gallery).
This is the only issue I've experienced after Leopard upgrade and the most annoying. I've provided Safari Bug feedback, but I don't expect a response.
I'm looking for someone out there to help me through this issue. Otherwise, I hope Apple is listening. Don't give me a reason to switch back to FireFox.

    Hi,
From previous postings here it seems to be a problem with the .Mac Gallery rather than Safari. Anecdotal reports seem to suggest there is insufficient bandwidth on those servers and when they get bogged down they mis-report the error message you saw.
Check in the [.Mac Web Gallery|http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1199] forum to see if they have some more concrete information.

  • Web gallery name created on export too .mac is too long - how do I shorten?

I cannot work out what the steps would be to reduce the eventual web address that I am given when I publish a web gallery from Apertue.. I want to put the address into a domain web forwarding so that I can give a short neat address for people to see but I cannot figure out how to reduce the .mac web gallery link address?
Can anyone help? Assume I am an idiot.. the clearer and more comprehensive the steps the better!
I have been messing about with batch change metadata settings for ages but can't see how to do this.. Thank you!

Apologies.. my advice may have been wrong.. it is a while since I figured it out.. trying to remember what it was I did..you do have to shorten that file name.. but it may not be the caption you need to change. I suspect I may have selected all the images.. then gone to meta data batch change and done something under the custom button which then applied to all images.
In my case I needed to get the web address for the gallery created from:
    http://homepage.mac.com/farish/Smartbins™%20Chewing%20Gum%20Bin%20and%20Cigarett e%20Bin%20Image%20Gallery/
    down to:
    http://homepage.mac.com/farish/Chewing%20Gum%20Bin%20Cigarette%20Bin/
I did manage it but can't quite remember how I did it.
I will keep playing and when I figure out what I did that worked will post again.
The web gallery name you choose affects how Google sees the site as when you publish the web gallery - the web gallery name can pop up in Google
It's quite difficult to figure out exactly what to do. If anyone else knows a definitive answer please advise!

  • How can I create a link to an external site in my aperture web gallery?

Very keen to add a link to my main home page so people can go from my web gallery at www.smartstreets.eu back to my home page at www.smartstreets.co.uk
Anyone know a way to do this?
Also wondered if I can change the font, size, format (eg bold etc) in the theme I have chosen .. this seems to be set and cannot be changed.
Any ideas? Any places I can try for great third party web gallery themes? Thank you!

I don't know how to accomplish this when using Aperture's built-in web gallery feature. My suggestion may help until you find out how to do that. I suggest buying iLife '08 and using iWeb to create your web galleries. The iWeb media browser shows your Aperture library and albums so there's no need to export-import. You do need to generate previews for photos to use in iPhoto. iWeb is much more powerful than Aperture's gallery layout tools, plus there are many themes available. Think of iWeb as an export plugin for Aperture.

  • Link to high resolution image in web gallery

    Hello.
Is there any way to include a link to a high or full resolution image using the web gallery creation tool? (similar to the option available in various jAlbum galleries)
So sorry if this is a repeat question...
    Lightroom 1.3.1
    OSx 10.4.11
    Thanks!

Check out the galleries at The Turning Gate http://www.theturninggate.net/. Matthew has at least one Gallery, AFAIK that does what you want.

  • Links to web gallery don't work from blog preview

I used the idea by somebody in this forum (sorry, forgot who!) to have a blog with each entry linking directly to the various different view options of the .mac web gallery, like this:
    http://web.mac.com/kazazi/PiNoProductions/Photos/Entries/2007/9/1September2007.html
However, now the links don't work anymore from the blog preview, because the #and & characters in the web gallery's url get scrambled.
Does anybody know why this is or how I can fix this?

i have the same problem. has anyone fixed this?

  • How to break link between iWeb and web gallery?

I have created an external webpage with the use of iWeb, and I have inserted the photos widget through the web gallery which sits on my personal .Mac account (ie. different to the external website which has an independent - no mac - .com address)
I would like people to view the picture widget on the external website (a business website) I have created, but I do not want them to click on it and then be directed to my home web gallery. Basically I just want them to be able to see the rolling pictures, but nothing more.
Does anyone know how to avoid this link from working?

    Hi Kodi,
As far as I know, the object link to material is part of SAP standard customer delivery. Then there is really small customer settings you have to maitain, actually the fields Destination and Web server, as the SAP never knows the name of the system, which customer will use.
Or you talk about others than the 0PLANTMATERIAL, 0PLANTMAT_LONG. If you create new object link type, the install guide  'Collaboration Projects (cProjects): Guide Impl. Object Link ' in the https://websmp105.sap-ag.de/plm-inst should give you detailded information.
    Kind regards,

  • Can I link iWeb and Web Gallery so Web Gallery appears as part of iWeb?

Anyone know how to link iWeb to Web Gallery so the latter appears to be part of the former? Apple seems to have set them up to be separate things.

In iWeb click on the Web Widgets button at the bottom of the iWeb main window.
In the drop down list you can select Mac Gallery, from here you can insert an item directly from one of you .Mac Gallery contents.

  • Can I make a url link from my logo in web gallery?

    I'm in LR 1.
I have a logo in the upper left in web gallery.
Can I make a url link?
Pity that clients can see the logo but cannot link to the url. thanks.

The ability to link html and flash web pages has been in LR since version 1. More specifically 1.4.1, which was the last version of LR 1.
The link, in the case of Flash galleries is placed in the box called Web or Mail link and will link from the text placed in the Contact info. In Html galleries the link can also be placed in the id plate. Many downloadable galleries have more sophisticated linking systems although some of them will not work in LR 1.4.1 (most will). Do a search for Lightroom Galleries as there are a lot about, or visit the Lightroom Exchange. All are either free or have trial versions (as does LR 3 which you can try for 30 days before buying)

  • Aperture web gallery - how to link back to main page from iWeb?

Okay, this may be simple, but I can't figure it out.
I created and uploaded a few web pages with iWeb to my dot.Mac account (web.mac.com/f8lee50) just to get a feel for things. I then created a web gallery with Aperture and uploaded it - naturally Aperture generated a URL for the gallery, which I set up as a link on my "Photos from Hawaii" page (the link is the word 'this' in the second paragraph, if you wawnt to look).
Okay, so this gets me from the "photos from Hawaii" page to the gallery, and within the gallery I can jump to the various images etc. But how does one navigate back to the "Photos from Hawaii" page from whence they came? Is there some sort of smart link that can be inserted (by Aperture?) that will send the viewer back to the main homepage? Or are the Aperture galleries essentially dead ends?

Richard, thanks for responding - I'll check that tutorial.
And thank you for the kind words, me100finn. I have not played with any variables as far as layout on the gallery (I did a bunch of stuff with the books, but the web gallery seems far less flexible) so I cannot answer your wuestion about the gray shadows.
Steve, thank you for the additional clarification (and the hint about spaces in URLs) - I guess what this all boils down to is that the web galleries from Aperture are not all that useful when they are meant to be a part of a bigger overall site. I'm not sure of what you meant when you say they have little forward or backward navigation in them - at least you can click on a thumbnail to get to an image, click next or previous or the grid to get back to the thumbnail galery. But, 'twould seem that hand coding HTML pages (the very thing I was hoping to avoid) is the only way to really integrate them. Given that, I gues the better approach will be just to use iWeb to load the images anyway.
Well, folks, thank you all for your answers. Until I do a re-do, I guess the back button is the way to go (which, for the record, I did sorta figure out myself
