Web gallery: Multiple pages depending on browser

I'm using iPhoto to post a stand alone gallery of 62 pictures for a client to review my photos. I've noticed depending on the web browser, the gallery might divide up my pictures over several pages--which can be confusing with the tiny buttons to move between pages.
Is there any way to force all pictures in a gallery to show on one page? That would be a much better experience in this case. Also, can you edit the settings of a gallery after it has been posted (Aperture 2.0 does this now)? Thanks! --Jeff
Example of Web Gallery with 62 photos:
*Safari 3: All 62 on one page
*Firefox 2: 62 pictures divided over 2 pages
*Explorer 6: divided over 3 pages (25/25/12)

Is there any way to force all pictures in a gallery to show on one page
No - web galleries are a consume level feature and you have limited control of the display - to make suggestions to Apple re improvements iPhoto menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback
Also, can you edit the settings of a gallery after it has been posted
Yes - in iPhoto select the web gallery and click on the gear icon in the toolbar - a setting window comes up that gives you access to the limited setting that you control

As an extension of a Web Gallery, it should be possible to create an entire gallery page with sub galleries in Lightroom. it will be great if it is also template based.

    See

  • How to send multiple pages to same browser

I have a JSP that has a form that submits to a servlet to read a file and then return the value of the file in a bean back to the JSP. I want to be able to send "update" pages to the browser so the client knows the progress of the read. Is there any way I can do a sendRedirect() to the page with a value in the bean telling how much has been read and then keep sending updates every few seconds until the file is read? I know some people do this to show the status of a site search but it looks to me like they send the page with an instant refresh back to the servlet. This won't work for me since the servlet is in the middle of reading a file on another server so I don't want the servlet thread to end until the entire file is read. I have tried coding multiple sendRedirects in the read code but the only thing the browser displays is the last value before the servlet returns. If anybody has any ideas I would appreciate it.

I would recommend not doing an upload monitor. There is, as far as I can tell, no easy way to do it and complicated ways will detract from the power you need to actually perform the process in question. A warning that they will need to wait a few seconds for the server to upload the file should be fine.

  • Aperture web gallery not displaying properly in browser

I've created a web gallery, which looks fine in Aperture, but when I view it from my .Mac site, the thumbnails are shifted to the right, rather than being between the title / page selection and the footer.
This is the same when viewing the gallery on my Mac using Safari, and also Windows machines with Firefox etc.
Is it a problem with the template?

I had the same issue. Even recompiled the web page with smaller jpgs but once again the body was off to the right and the header was on the left of the page. I'm using my laptop with a 19" external monitor, when I'm viewing a website I'm using the entire width of the external monitor... maximizing screen size. When I pulled the bottom corner to make the web page smaller, the body of the web gallery dropped below the header and looked just like it should normally. Hope this helps.

  • Problem getting bg image to show after integrating Web Gallery in page

    Hi,
I'm new to Dreamweaver this year just coming over from the bad guys. I was looking to create a web gallery for my client when I came across a great article by David Powers that really worked well and made it pretty simple. (see here)
    http://foundationphp.com/tutorials/gallery/embed1.php
The only problem I'm having is I want to use the background on the page I've created and not use a background color. In both CS4 & 5 The Bridge doesn't give you an option that I could find to insert background image which would have solved everything. Seeing as I'm inserting one page using iforms makes it a bit complicated and I've tried for a couple days but I can't figure it out. I'm more a designer then coder and when it gets to this part I hate it.
The behind the scenes page can be found here. I"m not sure why its showing white but in theory that shouldn't matter as the colours in the bottom I want replaced with my backround image the same as in 'trimworks'.
    http://www.homeworks4u.ca/Trimmwork.html
    This is my first posting.
I've done as much reading on css and figuring out how to do the web gallary I've run out of time!
    Thanks in advance,
    Sc.

I checked and flash had it set to opaque...so I tried windows and still nothing. I didn't really want to try the last option as that will reduce performance and the images are already high rez as it is. And this was done thru Bridge. You'd think there would be an easy way just to get a background in instead of the colours. Unfortunatly Flash is covering the entire area that my client wants the background showing....this was a last minute thing...just like the image gallary...we were all set for flash video show with his own tv set and all. Now he's mad cause I can't get a background to work.
    http://www.homeworks4u.ca/untitled-7trim.html
Is the page where both pages are combined....including the image gallary...
    http://www.homeworks4u.ca/TrimworksWG.html ( don't be fooled, view sorce)
This is the page The Bridge creates and then used Iframes to put it in the above page and want the background to show thru, not the dark colours.
The last one was close, but now I'm afraid with flash completely overtop of the background it could be hopeless. I'm on a time constrain. You all know how it is with clients with every changing ideas 3 days before launch which was last week. Any ideas at all at this point would be helpful. He just wants a photogallary that he can see his background thru! I"m willing to change programs at this point if I have too for something that easily puts the background in for you! I'd trade my time im for that at this point!
    Thanks Everyone and Thanks Nancy!

  • .Mac web gallery: Blank page on iPhone

    Hi,
I've used iPhoto '08 to publish several albums to my .Mac Web Gallery, and viewing them works fine using Safari on a Mac. However, when using iPhone with a URL like
    http://gallery.mac.com/membername
I'm forwarded to gallery.mac.com/iphone/membername, and all I get there is a blank page.
I tried reloading several times and restarted my iPhone - makes no difference. It just seems like the iPhone version of my Web Gallery has not been created properly.
Does anyone have the same problem or know of a fix?
    Thanks.
    Tim

I was on the phone with Apple for almost an hour today discussing the problem. They said they would alert product development of the issue. Now, just a few hours later, my Web Gallery is suddenly working fine on the iPhone... if this has anything to do with my call, then that's what I call a speedy fix.

  • Web Gallery Home Page Creation

Any suggestions as to what software to use to create a home page for several LR created galleries. Dreamweaver seems like overkill for just creating the one page. Using a Mac with 10.5. I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

You may also want to consider Apples iWeb to create a homepage (and perhaps other pages too)
Hosting on either a .Mac account or other external server. iWeb will allow you to create something that is more than an index page for the Lightroom galleries.
Not to suggest that the index page feature from TTG is not useful, it is a very much needed part of the Web module especially if one doesnt have experience or a resource for hosting of galleries.
If you are using your galleries as showcases to clients or friends then a .Mac account may be all you need. Building a simple site within a .Mac account is very easy and uploading a Lr gallery to the site could not be easier.

  • OT: directing to new page dependent on browser/keyboard language?

    Hell
I have just got a new gig building a dual language site.
    English and Spanish
and I have heard that its easy enough to have a mechanism
    that detects the
users language and serves hello.htm or ola.htm respectively
    for instance.
How would I go about that?
    Cheers

    methods of doing this but

    >to avoid Javascript as much as possible these days.
Good. At least you shouldn't rely on JS for a site's most
    basic
functionality, it should always work without it. But if done
    properly,
JS can really help to further improve a site's usability.
Back to the topic ... currently I don't have a multilingual
    project
online, but I played around with it a while ago and would do
    it like
    this:
    (1)
Server-side content negotiation (as already mentioned), but
    only on the
homepage. The document root would contain at least these
    files for 3
    languages:
    /index.php.de
    /index.php.en
    /index.php.es
    And maybe a generic
    /index.php.php
(There are reasons for that, it's explained in the Apache CN
    manual.)
These files just redirect the browser to the
    language-specific homepage,
which directly leads to issue 2:
    (2)
There are two ways where to store all those pages and how to
    access them
    by URLs:
    * subdirectories, e.g.
    http://example.com/de/foo
    http://example.com/en/foo
    http://example.com/es/foo
    * subdomains, e.g.
    http://de.example.com/foo
    http://en.example.com/foo
    http://es.example.com/foo
It's more or less just a design decision, but there are some
    reasons for
and against each other. The subdomain-way for example is
    quite common
and used by projects like Wikipedia, but can become a problem
    if you
    want to use SSL/TLS.
Whatever way you go - make sure that all pages are linked to
    their
language counterparts, so that the user can always and
    permanently
switch to another language. It's also very helpful to not
    only have
multilingual pages, but translated URLs as well:
    http://de.example.com/produkte/musik/cds
    http://en.example.com/products/music/cds

  • Publish to Web Gallery, makes individual pages and the "gallery" is empty

I am experimenting with Web Gallery because I would like to use this feature to put my high school reunion pictures up.
I've just converted recently to iPhoto '08. I've been working with events and have organized my reunion photos into 3 events (about 150 photos). But I started by just seeing how it is to just put up one or two small jpegs, to see how it works. I uploaded 3 different small events. They have individual urls and when I sign into my dotmac account, it tells me I have 3 pages, but no gallery. How do I get them to show in the gallery? Can I select 3 events at once to publish?
what is the difference between publishing an "event" and publishing an "album"?
    thanks
    Message was edited by: JScott

Yes, I see 3 galleries showing in the web gallery section in the left hand sidebar of iPhoto.
Yes, when I go to iPhoto preferences, Web Gallery section, I see the three galleries. It calls them albums, but I see them.
Yes, in the Finder, when I look at iDisk =>web =>sites =>_gallery, I see 3 folders corresponding to the 3 created urls.
Yes, in iPhoto, if I select one of the galleries and click the URL, I do get to the photos I just published, in Safari.
But.... here's the rub, and the question. If I go log into dotmac in Safari, on the left hand side of the dotmac page, under my account, underneath the links to go to Mail and the Address Book, there is an entry for Web Gallery. Then it lists "My Gallery" followed by the names I gave the 3 galleries I created. If I click on any of the pages I named, I get to them. If I click "My Gallery", it says "This Web Gallery is Empty".
What I was thinking "My Gallery" might be is an overlying web gallery home page onto which I could post multiple galleries. Is that what it is, and how do I get to it?
    Thanks,
    JScott

  • IWeb Link to Web gallery

Hi everyone, my question is, is there a way to create a web gallery link in the link header of iWeb? I find this confusing that web gallery and iWeb don't have an option to link up. The gallery in iWeb is good, but don't have the same features that web gallery does. Since it is all hosted in the same place, it should be easy. I have HTML links in my blog now for it, but it isn't global. I have to insert an HTML link in each post. Any help would be great.
    Thanks.
    Jim

well i suppose the way it's meant to be done is to make a new blank page (calling it web gallery or whatever), press web widget and put in your web gallery albums one by one. each album has a little mini slideshow going on (and skims) and clicking on that takes you to the web gallery album proper. the problem (as far as i'm concerned) is that by making the web widgets you are making your own web gallery index page which is not as nice as the actual web gallery index page which you are bypassing.
or you could make a blank page (again calling it web gallery or whatever), leave it blank, publish it, and then edit the code so that it diverts straight to your web gallery index page. i don't know how to write code so i just copied the code on the index page and changed the destination to the web gallery address rather than the welcome page. this seems to work well. and if you know what you're doing i suppose to could also get the web gallery to open in another browser window.
or you could make a blank page (again calling it web gallery or whatever), and insert an html widget with code to divert to the web gallery. the difficulty with this is then when someone clicks on web gallery (or whatever you have called it) in the navigation menu, you then see the blank page for a fraction of a second.
anyway, i don't really know what i'm doing....i'm just trying stuff out!

  • How do you password protect web gallery

Iphoto is easy to protect. How do you password protect your movies in webgallery? The help menu is not very clear

The best I can figure out is that if you post your movie to the Gallery, but do not select the option to "Show project on Web Gallery home page," the video will not show on your home page for random visitors. When the movie is done posting, you can send the direct link of your video to whomever you want by copying it from the confirmation page after the video uploads. Not perfect, but the only option I see right now.

  • Color difference in web gallery

I am having trouble matching color from my images in Bridge or PS (CS4) to the photos that appear when I make a web gallery using CS4.   The photos have been converted to sRGB and look vivid in Bridge or Photoshop.  However when they are converted into a web gallery and shown on a browser they are dull and lacklustre.
However if I upload one to my gallery on Mobile Me they look just fine.  It seems like Web Gallery in CS4 is doing something to them.
I am using Safari and CS4 withMacbook Pro.   Is there something I am missing I wonder??  Any suggestions?

    >> I have opened the files in Safari, Firefox, Photoshop and Preview and they display correctly - even when profiles are changed
that's expected in Safari, Photoshop and Preview
Safari and Preview both automatically honor embedded profiles and Convert to Monitor RGB (you can't confuse them if your files have embedded profiles they get displayed correctly) — Safari and Preview both apply Monitor RGB to untagged files — I don't think we can change this behavior
Photoshop can be confused in any number of ways by users opening tagged and untagged files, but it sounds like the same thing is happening correctly (Ps is Converting Source Space to Monitor RGB) — if we tell Photoshop Do Not Color Manage a file, it in essence applies/assign/assumes its "Working RGB" profile
anything in CS4 saving for web (galleries) is more than likely stripping the profile(s) by application default
the test would be to open the problem (web gallery-generated) file in Photoshop and first see if it has an embedded profile — then Assign various profiles until you hit the correct profile — if someone doesn't understand how profiles work then that likely whooshed out the other ear by now, but that is a very presice step to ID the problem
if someone is having this problem, this is how to figure out what's happening — learn how your workflow deals with profiles/color spaces
the way to fix it would be making sure your Save For Web (gallery) Converts to sRGB and strips the profile (CS4 Adobe default setting)

  • Embed Photoshop Web Gallery Into Site

I have been furiously scouring the internet for a tutorial,
walk though, or simply any information at all on how to embed a
Photoshop Web Gallery into a website that I'm creating using
Dreamweaver; unfortunately, I have found nothing of value. The
closest thing I found is someone saying "I just copied the html to
a table in dreamweaver..." which doesn't help a complete novice
    (like me) at all.
If anyone could direct me to a thorough tutorial or writeup
the steps to take it would help me
tremendously. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

    > Is it possible to embed a Web gallery that is in my
    remote files into a
    > template page so it will match my Web site?
Yes. Let's see your page as it stands now. Can you upload it
    and post a
    link?
The Object Not Found message means that there is a javascript
    object that
has been left out of the page. A look at the code will tell
    which one that
    is.

  • Removed Movie from .Mac Web Gallery But Broken Link Remains?

I published a movie to my Web Gallery successfully. I then tried to republish but got two movies in the Gallery. One movie worked and the other was a broken link. I removed the movie from .Mac using Share>Remove From .Mac, and the working movie was removed. But I am still left with a broken link in the Movies section of my Web Gallery. How can I remove this broken link?
I checked my iDisk and found \Web\Sites\_gallery, but I can't find the index file for the gallery (only folders for the albums).
    Thanks, Will

I'm having the same problem (broken links after a republish) -- and a few others:
    1) After about the first time, I have been unable to remove a movie from the gallery. I just get a connection error. I'm able to add movies (somehow the connection magically works) but removing fails most of the time.
    2) When adding a movie, for some reason, the title of the movie ends up replacing the "My Gallery" title for my entire web gallery. On the web gallery home page (over my photo albums and videos) it shows the title of the first video.

  • Is it possible to password protect Movies in the new Web Gallery?

I have loaded several iPhoto albums onto my new Web Gallery - and I can password protect each using a different name and password for various friends and family. This is great as they each then have their own privacy. Some I have left open to view by everyone. BUT, I would like to password protect some movies from iMOvie '08. Can this be done for the movies as per the photo albums - and how? If yes - can it also be done for movies already published or will they have to be re-published?
    thanks
    Alan
