[Web Player][Playlists] Sort Playlists in Browser

I have a Chromebook and thus use the web player exclusively now. Unfortunately, there is no way to organize and sort playlists or even songs within playlists within the brower version so my playlists are currently a mess. Would love to add sorting features to the web browser version.

Updated: 2015-07-06Hi and thanks for your contribution! A similar idea has also been suggested here:

  • [Web Player][Playlists] Playlist sorting

A previous thread on this topic - https://community.spotify.com/t5/Closed-Ideas/Sort-Playlists-Alphabetically/idi-p/699414 - was incorrectly defined as a duplicate and can therefore no longer benefit from user kudos.  Spotify, I'd urge you to pay closer attention to the content of the thread, rather than quickly dismissing it. (Thanks, Marco, but perhaps think a little harder next time?)  Your mobile app shows that you already understand the desire to sort/filter playlists - not the content of those playlists, but the index/list of playlists - so it's ridiculous that you've not implemented this in the desktop and browser interfaces.  I'm no coder, but this can't be tricky stuff. And even if you've got a million other things on your priority list, at least take the time to communicate with us.  Many of us are paying users, and we love the service as a whole, but this is some darn basic stuff. A basic feature for you to add, and you can't even take the time to explain why you haven't or whether you ever will.  Hell, with Apple looking to cut your lunch, maybe this is the time to sort your crap out.  Cheers.

    Hello !
It's nice of you to worry about my responding and I'm always open for constructive feedback. If you have any suggestions on how to make the process of dealing with new suggestions better, please send me a PM, thanks!
While my tone might not be totally "patient and understanding" it's far from unfriendly. I would say it's a neutral tone since I was just eager to know why everyone think it's a duplicate although to my understanding it's clearly not. Alas, I still have not received an explaining answer to that irritation.
Regarding this idea here: I just wanted to make sure this time and avoid another "that was not what I meant" issue. Since the author hasn't edited the idea for 2 weeks and this topic here is more of a general discussion about duplicates and tone of replies, I'll go ahead and close this for now. Any of the above matters can be better resolved in PMing me directly - I'm always looking for feedback! Thanks. :)

    tt2,
Your very helpful and knowledgeable. I for one appreciate all the hardwork and help you have been giving the people on theses lists, especially with the problems associated with the "importing playlists" from windows media. Unfortunately I need more help if you or someone else can provide it. I followed all the steps you have instructed so far in the threads I have seen. Unfortunately nothing so far works for me. Maybe you or someone can help me, I'd really appreciate it. I tried the notepad++ method and when I click on save I always get a notepad file that my iTunes can't do anything with. I click the "convert to UTF-8 without BOM" then click save as and it still saves as a notepad file. I am also unable to find the \n\ file path to replace with my \C:\ filepath. Here is a copy of the first part of one of my playlists:

  • [Web Player] Lite version of the Web Player

Web player of spotify in it full glory can be hogging more than 500 MB. Can there be a thinner more tamed version of the player, which just has a flash player and may be a playlist with a search bar.
It can be thought of as a mobile version of the same page.

Updated: 2015-07-20Marked as new idea and edited the title slightly to make it easier to find via search and differ from a similar idea about a lite version for the desktop app here. ;)

  • Get web player to work when flash is click to play

The latest firefox, and my chrome at work have now made flash "click to play" due to the numerous security issues with flash. However, Spotify web player requires flash to run. When flash is set to "click to play" the web player complains that flash is not installed and shows a dialog requesting you install flash. I found this work around:1. from developer tools, find an object named "player.swf"2. this object has width and height set to 1. Change this to 100 for both.3. you should now see a large flash box in the top left hand corner of the screen.4. you can right click and run flash from this box.5. also, right click the dialog box, and choose inspect element. 6. edit the display: block to display: hidden. This should hide the dialog box that asks you install flash. spotify web player should now run fine. This is a temporary solution though. You have to do it every time you login or refresh the page, which is a huge pain.Flash should not be required for the web player. Google play music does not require it, for example. Spotify, you need to fix this. Flash will increasingly be disabled in browsers or made click to play before being deprecated. PLEASE FIX.

Youtube doesn't require flash player anymore--hasn't for a while now. Try a different browser, for starters.

  • Divx web player keeps crashing all browsers; IE, Firefox, Google Chrome.

The Divx web player stopped working for me a while back. I run Microsoft XP HE SP3 on a Toshiba Satellite M55-S139 1.87 GB RAM 1.60 GHz Proc.
I've tried installing and uninstalling the browsers. I've tried updating/downgrading versions of divx. I've even done some registry edits a while back that seemed to work once I restarted the computer and tried it once but then after a moment of playing it crashed again.
Has anyone had this ongoing issue with divx web player like I have? The regular divx player and vlc can play divx but when I attempt to stream divx formated files from any site I get a browser crashing occurance every time for every browser. It always appears to be a certain dll issue in the send error report; most of the time to msvcr80.dll.
Let me know any additional info you may need to solve this.

I have the same issue since updating to Lion / Safari 5.1!
The plugin worked fine before in 32-bit Mode.
There's nothing on the internet on this issue altough it seems this problem occurs on any Lion machine. I have encountered the same problem on a new MacBookAir that came with Lion preinstalled. So I'm guessing it has nothing to do with updating from Snow Leopard to Lion.
    Any help greatly appreciated!!!

  • Authorware Web Player won't download from our server

We have used the same code to download the 2004 web player
successfully from our server since 2005. Recently however, during
the download, the player starts, but it hangs at the point where
the progress bar with the label "Loading Files" displays. This
happens on a client pc that has no Authorware web player files in
Downloaded Program Files, System32\Macromed\Authorwa, and Documents
and Settings...\Authoware Web Player directories. We can download
successfully to the same pc from the Adobe server. I'd appreciate
very much any advice that the experts have.

Any changes to your server? Not that I'd have any particular
    solution if
so, but it's something to check into. Windows Server 2003
    needs MIME
Types to be added...but missing those results in specific
    errors, I
think, not just a freeze at the 'loading files' screen.
Can other machines download from your server ok? Could it be
    something
    specific to this client machine?
What browser on the client machine? Do any other browsers
    work?
This problem has been linked to popup blockers in some
    situations. For
some reason, popup blockers can prevent the web player from
    showing the
security dialog, which tries to show before any content is
    actually
loaded. Try turning off any blockers that may be present or
    adding your
server location to the blocker 'allowed' sites.
However, if that was the problem, I'd think it would occur
    while loading
the player from both your server *and* Adobe's server.

Via Javascripting. Look for Flash detection kits at the
    Adobe/Maromedia web
site and also at Internet search engines.
As well this forum focuses on database access issues and you
    might find more
takers for this type of question in the Flash General forum.

  • Firefox Divx Web Player - Buffering 0%, Divx Web Player it prompts "Buffering: 0%" without ever playing content.

    Issue Description:
For as long as I can remember I've been unable to play videos using the DivX Web Player. The video appears and connects however it prompts "Buffering: 0%" without ever streaming anything. I've tried to resolve the issue by uninstalling Firefox, Shark007's Codec Pack, DivX Web Player, and Firefox Addons and having them re-installed with no luck. These videos do not work in Chrome either however they do work in Internet Explorer. DivX Avi formats do play on my desktop using Windows Media Player and the DivX Plus Player.
    Example:

    Hi everyone,
Since it is currently not possible to play divx content using the newest version of the divx web player, I've been using the VLC media player browser plugin. The VLC browser plugin allows you to play divx content on the web; however, it does not load in the same manner as a traditional divx web player. To use it, you need to double click the video and move it into full screen.

  • Why require Adobe Flash in Web Player?

It used to work without Adobe Flash.
On my office computer I'm not allowed to install anything on my own, e.g. the regular Spotify exe. So the Web player was a possibility. Now that Adobe Flash installation is required, this possibility is also blocked. I think Internet Explorer has a built in flash player, so why not use that player instead?

So... I knew I never wanted to bother with Spotify but I wanted to make sure thosetools are playing my music and paying me.  (What, did people forget how to load songs on their ipods now?  did they forget how to turn on the radio in the car?  Ha ha, Spoitfy seems to be only for the middle to lower segment of the market, that is dumb people who are rich enough to afford to pay for a service that gives them what they could otherwise get themselves for free if they weren't that dumb.  So here we are...  FLASH IS INSTALLED DUMBAZZ!!!   WHY DO I NEED FLASH AT ALL?  I don't know but it doesn't matter anyway BECAUSAE SPOTIFY DOESN'T RECOGNIZE THE FLASH I JUST INSTALLED. HEY, ROBOT.  DO WHAT I JUST TOLD YOU TO DO, DUMBAZZ.  darn robots, never obey their masters. So, Spotify using Flash is, like, almost the dumbest idea of 2008 and here we are seven years later, and so now using Spotify itself and flash are now the dumbest ideas of 2015.   Listen, I don't give a crap what your software people tell you, it's a LOSER of an idea.  My life is spent combatting bad software!!  Hours and hours of wasted time in my life.  And the software itself is not that bad, but then its clear that someone at the corporate level comes and says 'hey add these bells and whistles that let me monetize this and get my hooks in that and synergize partneratize paternalize everything in the process.  Well, nope out. And that is why I WILL NOT EVER INSTALL OR USE SPOTIFY EVER AGAIN.  Life is short, I don't have time to try and FIX YOUR COMPANY'S ERRORS by screwing around and ruining my machine trying to make my browser figure out how to run with your crappy software.  MAKE IT WORK RIGHT THE FIRST TIME OR YOU LOSE.  You lose.  Good day, sir.  I said, good day!

  • Authorware Web Player Not Recognized

So I'm trying to use an online eLearning page for school and
I'm supposed to have the Authorware web player IOT use it. I
download it from the Adobe web site and install it w/o any
problems. I go back to the site and it's still not working. The
site also has a test page which checks your browser to make sure it
meets all the requirements. Well, everything is good except for
Authorware. The test page says that it isn't installed. I
uninstalled authorware, then installed it again and the site still
won't work. I even went to the Adobe page which tests its web
player and I get the error message: "The page “Macromedia -
Test Authorware Web Player” has content of MIME type
    “application/x-authorware-map”, but you don’t
have a plug-in installed for this MIME type." It then directs back
to the Adobe page where I originally downloaded the web player in
the first place. I'm using a MacBook with Safari v3.2.1 and OS X
    Leopard 10.5.6 HELP!!!!!

"I'm using a MacBook with Safari v3.2.1 (Browser) and OS X
Leopard 10.5.6 (OS)" The link that you provided is the one that I
have been using. When I click on it the download begins and saves
the file to my "Downloads" folder as a stuffit file. I then click
on this and stuffit opens it. I now get a file that says
"Authorware 7.0 Complete Install". I click on this and the install
begins. I click through the screens that come up and at the end it
says that the install was successful. Everything is installed here:
    Macintosh HD > Library > Internet Plug-ins >
AuthorwareWebPlayer-PPC Folder. I then try the adobe authorware web
    player test page (
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/authorwareonly.html)
and when it loads I get an error message that says:
[Safari cannot find the Internet plug-in.
The page “Macromedia - Test Authorware Web
Player” has content of MIME type
    “application/x-authorware-map”, but you don’t
have a plug-in installed for this MIME type. A plug-in should be
    available on this page:
    http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveAuthorware
Do you want to open the page?]
This is the same page that I originally downloaded the player
from to begin with. As far as admin rights go, this is my personal
computer and there is only the one account, from which I've
installed many programs from before, and have never had any
problems. I have tried multiple browsers, Safari, Mozilla Firefox,
Opera, Internet Explorer:Mac (old version for Macs before Safari
was released) and have had the exact same problem with them all. I
have also gone to the elearning page after every try to see if will
work, and it also says that Authorware is not installed and
    therefore cannot play the course.

  • Download Authorware Web Player

    Hi,
I am trying to download the Authorware Web Player for
viewing of training disks created by this product on a intranet
with no internet access. Every time I go to download, it wants to
install on my home machine which does me no good. I do not have the
full version Authorware creator nor have a need to make training
mediums, just utilize the viewer. Is there a link anywhere to
download the .exe/.cab viewer so that I can through it on a thumb
drive and bring it into work? Appreciate the help.

Here are my suggestions, but the real solution is that we really need  Adobe to support this amazing educational product from the operating system vista and up and for any new browsers other than Internet Explorer.
How can we do that? I have spent hours on the phone and it is impossible to get through to Adobe experts able to create this solution.
    Suggestions:
    Browser issues:
It is recommended that you access the program via Internet Explorer.
    Windows 7 users:
Later operating systems have higher security features. Here are the workarounds: Accessing the Demo Program - When clicking on the Demo link, a pop-up appears asking, "Do you want to run the following Authorware file?" - Click Yes. The Macromedia logo appears. Next, in the browser, click on Tools > Internet Options > Security. Uncheck Enable Internet Protection this allows the Demo Program to open in a pop-up window. Restart Internet Explorer and return to http://www.nurseeducation.org/. Now when you click on the FREE Demo link, the Demo Program will open. Once the program Demo has opened, simply recheck the Enable Internet Protection box in your browser's securty settings. If necessary you can manually download the free Authorware plugin at Adobe.com If your computer is later than 2008, you need to allow Active X controls to download. Click LOGIN on the side navigation. A BAR appears at the top of the pop up page. Click on INSTALL ACTIVE X CONTROL. Another prompt pops up - CLICK INSTALL. Now RESTART YOUR BROWSER. Return to www.nurseeducation.org. Click LOGIN. When the prompt appears, click OK. You’re now able to access the program. Still having trouble? This problem may be easily resolved, by temporarily turning off the new security settings completely. Go to TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS > Select the SECURITY TAB > UNCHECK THE BOX that says ENABLE PROTECTED MODE. Now just restart Internet Explorer and it will work the next time you try to log in. Do re-enable protected mode after your download has finished by just rechecking the Enable Protected Mode check box. If it still did not work it could also be that your browser’s internet options must be changed to allow this player to be downloaded. If so, with internet open go into TOOLS at the top, then click INTERNET OPTIONS, then click SECURITY and then click CUSTOM LEVEL and then change Disable To Enable wherever it says Active X files. Windows XP users: If a new window does NOT pop-up, check the task bar at the bottom of the screen. Some Operating Systems, such as Windows XP, will not permit a link to open above the program, and instead will flash orange in the task bar at the bottom of the screen. Click the orange item to open the link.
    Hope this helps.
