Web Printing and IE9

I am using the new IE9 and its true - it has a very minimalistic view - too minimalistic.  How can I get the "Web Printing" button back?  I have enabled every legacy view I can find and I still don't have the button, even though in "manage add-ons" it shows that HP Smart Web Printing is enabled.

I have just installed IE9 too.  right click at the top of the window and make sure the command bar is enabled.  The button is found there.
However, when you click the button it informs you that Web printing does not work for ie9 and takes you to a page on the hp website that doesn't exist.
As ie9 is still beta I don't think hp have updated their tool yet.  (Still waiting for them to support other browsers too!!)

  • HP Smart Web Printing and IE8

Hi, I am trying to help some friends who have recently bought a new HP desktop and HP printer.
We have set up both and can print from programs installed, thats no problem. When we try to print a page from IE8 nothing at all happens. We have the HP Smart Web Printing software installed, but there is no icon on the tool bar, and it does not seem to be off the side of the screen. We have tried downloading and installing the Smart Web printing software again, but still it fails to work.
We have been on the internet looking for solutions including making sure that the box it ticked in IE8 which allows 3rd part add ons. And also looked in add on manager, but the Smart web add on does not appear on the list. In fact there are no add ons appearing?
I would be very grateful for any assistance.
    Cheers

In IE8 on the lowest toolbar, to the right hand side is a "tools" pull down. Click on it, then select "Explorer Bars", you should see one called "HP Smart Web Printing". If you do and it does not have a check by it, simply click on that option. An SWP toolbar should appear. If you do not have thswp line I would suspect an installation problem.

  • HP Smart Web Printing and Firefox

Was able to update IE8 with Smart Web Printing, but not working in Firefox.  Will an update be available for Firefox?

I believe an updated version of SWP will be released that'll work with FF 3.x.x. However, there is no release date specified by HP.

  • Downladed web printing and the icon disappeared

I clicked on the icon, it said I needed to downlaod an update, I did and now the icon is gone.  I've had the printer out of the box for all of two hours....help....

What version of OSX, MacBook Pro and Pages are you running?
How did you buy and install Pages?
If your computer froze that iis a problem in itself and may indicate a problem with your Hard Drive.
Open Disk Utility and check what S.M.A.R.T. reports at the bottom of the window, then run Verify/Repair over your Hard Drive.

  • I installed "HP smart web printing" and went to EXT and it said it was disabled because firefox doesn't support this extention. Is there a possibility in the near future to consider adding this EXT program to be compatible?

It is compatible with Explorer but I really would prefer to work with Firefox but I also really like this HP program. Thanks

  • Anything new with Smart Web Printing working with IE9?

I've been following posts regarding compatability of Smart Web Printing with IE9. Has there been any progress in this area?

Does Bing Bar need to be in IE9 32bit rather than 64bit?  I really miss the Smart Web Printing.
    Thanks, Twinkie3
I have it installed just fine on my x64 Windows 7 system running the 32 bit version of IE9.  I do not remember the details, but I think I had problems downloading the file in IE9 and I downloaded it with Chrome and then ran it and installed it in IE9.

On my desktop I am running Internet E 8 and XP, the file extracts and when it atempts to install a Graphic of a CD flashes on the screen and it never installs.
Anyone else haaving problems with IE8

I was having the same problem locating the program until I clicked the little >> at the right of the toolbar on Explorer and then I see "Show or Hide HP Smart Web Printing"  When I click this to show HP Smart Web Printing, I get the panel on the left for smart web printing, but it is blank...I no longer have the clip...print buttons.  So, I solved one problem only to get another.  I even uninstalled HP Smart Web Printing and reinstalled...same result.

  • HPÜ smart web printing

Hi, I am using HP smart web printing and have a problem that German 'Umlaute' Ä Ö Ü ä ö ü are not displayed correctly. Instead they are displayed as some special characters. Is there a way to fix this?

IE9 has not yet been released in final form, it is still in Beta.  I do not know if HP has any plans to support the Web Printing application on IE9, but if they do I would not expect them to release anything before the official IE9 release.

  • HP Smart Web Printing installed but no symbol in browser

I just downloaded HP Smart Web Printing and it apparently installed itself (if I try installing it again I am told that it is already installed). When I try to use it I cannot find any appropriate symbol anywhere on the browser.
QUESTION: Is there some other way to start HP Smart Web Printing if the symbol does not appear after installation (hot key, menu option, list of programs)?

OK, I found out where the mysterious icon is hidden, thanks to a response given to Bonnie on January 19th 2010.
In my case (IE8 German), I found that it is necessary to click the >> button at the end of the tool bar and that reveals additional icons, one of which is labeled "HP Smart Web Printing":

  • HP Smart Web Printing Breaks Firefox

HP Smart Web Printing Breaks Firefox Navigation bar.
    OS: Windows 7
    Browser: FireFox 3.5.6
Application: HP Smart Web Print Version 4.6
After installing it basically broke the Firefox browser bar.
    Here is the FriendFeed Conversation

As far as I’m concerned this is by far the most intrusive and inconsiderate update HP has every released. Be where – if I had to guess I would say that HP is using EDS to do it’s update/releases. I only say this because as someone who worked for EDS for 14 years, I can tell you they are used to telling their end user what they must have how they are going to get it instead of the other way around. This is one of the main reasons I left EDS in 1999. So do not trust HP anymore. Always make a restore point before you apply any updates and only apply update when they apply to you and the way you use your computer. I for one am going to turn off HP update notices because I don't even want to know about an update unless I have some problem I need to solve.
    System Info:
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 32 bit (all current updates applied as of 01/15/2009).
    Browser: Firefox 3.5.7
    Problem Area: Firefox Add-ons
    Problem and Solution:
Hp Update notified me an update for HP Smart Web Printing to version 4.60 is available. Because I like to keep my computer software up to date I clicked install, what a mistake. The first thing I noticed is that the Norton Toolbar 4.0 was missing in Firefox 3.5.7. Turned out it was BROKE and/or disables although Firefox showed it as being present and enabled it was not, along with other Add-ons for Firefox.
    Things I tried:
    1)      Exit and restarted FF (no effect)
    2)      Disable HP Smart Web Printing and Restarted Firefox (Norton Toolbar reappeared but still was not working along with other Add-ons.
    Final Solution:
    1)      Uninstall HP Smart Web Printing (I check delete/no to save anything)
    2)      Ran System Restore and restored to the latest System Check Point which was before the 4.60 update was applied because Windows was prevented from or just didn't create an automatic restore point in order to undo the update.
    3)      Uninstall HP Smart Web Printing again and again I didn't save anything (Why? I have no idea but it appeared that even though the previous version of HP Smart Web Printing should be installed it seems that the 4.60 updates are applied to it so it’s the only way I could get Firefox and the other Add-ons working right) Norton Safe Web still doesn't work right and is a 100% dysfunctional.
    NOTE:
All Firefox Add-ons seems to be working except Norton Safe Web function. The green tick mark no longer show up so you have no way of know if the site is Safe or not until you click on a link in Google search so Safe Web will check it which as far as I'm concerned diminishes the protection/function 100%. The only solution may be to uninstall Firefox and reinstall it, which at this time I've not done because I am still trying to find a way around it.

  • HP Smart Web Printing Window is Empty

I just installed Version 4.6 under IE8 (under Windows 7 64-bit).  When I show the HP Smart Web Printing Window, it is empty with a white background (i.e. there is no selection tool).  I checked IE's add-ons and everything you would expect to be enabled is enabled:

Per HP Support's recommendation, I unistalled and re-installed Smart Web printing and that resolved the problem.

  • Problems with Web Printing in BW 3.5

Hi, to all, I am here again to see if some it can help me!!!.
I have a problem with the impression in Web of the BW information, when printing the data and I´m going to advance in scroll, and you prints for example for the second page the data that already have been printed in first page,so it repeats the data, as I can avoid it?
If you know how to solving this, please tell me something! because to for version 3.0 of BW exits a how to guide(HOW TO ENHANCE exists a How WEB PRINTING) but  we don't know if it's possible to be applied to the version 3.5 of BW because it is a later version.
    Thanks and best regards,
    Pati

    Hi Patricia,
We are using the same white paper 'How to web printing' and it is helping us a lot. We are also working on BW3.5. Without this enhancement, our reports were not printable at all.
Please let me know, if you need more information. Thx. Praveen

Did I miss a printer update or is/will there be a patch? Thanks!

Smart Web Printing has been replaced with HP Smart Print.  For more information on that, please click here. It will tell you about upgrading to Smart Print and the differences between them.  It will also walk you thru uninstalling the Smart Web printing and upgrading to HP Smart Print.   Smart Print only Works with Internet Explorer versions 6-9. At this time, as of today there has not been any information on if an when a version will be made available for Fire Fox.  I hope this helps.

    Hi,
Finally I've figured out a way to solve this. I typed msconfig in "run", and unchecked all the HP, Smartweb printing and windows installer items in the services and startup tabs. I don't have the problem anymore.
But thank you very much for your help!
