I have a doubt regarding web report, Suppose if i want include or exclude a values on characteristic do i need to modify in BEx or directly in web report? what is the procesdure..

Hi,
Whatever changes you make in Bex query are reflacted in Web report.
So you have to change the query.

Hi Gurus,
I have a few doubts on the BI Web-Reports.
1) I have a web report that by default has the current date in variable window[Posting Date].Now when I execute the report for a different selection,the query displays fine.But when I change the view for this query, the variable values are getting reset to the default current date and so the report output for the view I have selected shows the data for the current date instead of the previous date selections that I had entered earlier.Is this the default functionality of web-reports?Is there any way by which I can execute the different views for a report based on the same selection that I had entered in the variable window initially?
2) I have a set of 10 views for a report.Is there a way by which I can set one of the views as the default view for that query whenever I run it?
3) Any documentation on the 'view' functionality of web-reports will be greatly appreciated.

views are nearly same like queries. You can use all web commands.

Error when trying to display a Webi report through the Folder iView

Hi all
I am getting the following error when Im trying to display a Webi report through the SAP Portal. We have installed the SAP Integration Kit and are able to see the content of the Infoview. However when we click on a Webi report, we receive the following error:
Could not get page number. (Error: RWI 00223) (Error: INF)
Have anyone else encountered this problem? Please assist! Any help will be rewarded.
(We are running XI Rel 2).

Furthermore I'd like to see an example of the cms_name entry. The documentation states: In addition, specify the Application Parameter for each iView. For this property, enter cms_name=[cms] for the fully qualified server name., but I have doubts as to what format to use.

The report can be displayed from the java infoview, no doubt, so the report itself works.
But the report cannot be seen from the "SAP Infoview" (:/businessobjects/enterprise115/sap) which is the infoview, I reference from the Folder iView (through the system in the SAP portal). And since the SAP Portal Integration Kit seems very old - the Folder iView was created 12-08-2004 by Ingo Hilgefort - there might be an old version of the jar-files somewhere in the installation.
I guess I should check the version of the jar-files in WEB-INF/lib of our web application (Tomcat) folder, and see if they have been overwritten by the SAP Portal Integration Installation or are an older version of the files in Program FilesBusiness Objectscommon3.5javalib? And also check if somewhere in the .../sap installation there are some old jar-files?

Webi Report Schedule failing in BI Launchpad

Hi,
I am wondering if anyone has come across this error message when trying to schedule a webi report in BI Launchpad.
Firstly, the webi report refreshes successfully in BI Launchpad. The source for the Webi report is an OLAP universe that was migrated from a 3.1 environment into BI 4.0.
The error message occurring when scheduling is:
'while trying to invoke the method org.eclipse.emf.ecore.EObject.eClass() of an object loaded from local variable 'eObject' '
I haven't been able to find any documentation on this error message on a failed scheduled.
If anyone has an idea what might be causing this I would appreciate the help.

Hi,
- Does your souce BEx have SAP Variables coming through to the OLAP universe as Filters?
- Does your WebI document's dataprovider have filters defined as Prompts in the query panel ?
- or, I wonder if 'local variable' may refer to a report-level variable ? i doubt it. i imaging it's the SAP VAR.
I know that these 2 types of prompts have been troublesome on occasions with scheduling.

Modifying existing webi report BO 4.0

Hi Experts,
In pre-production system I executed webi report, went to Design mode --> Drag & drop a new object to the report. Then by mistake clicked on Save instead of "save As" This made changes to the original report.
I have below doubts, pls clarify.
1.) Will this affect the OLAP connection between report & data source?
2.) Do I need to made any connection again for this report somewhere?
3.) Will this affect the original report in production in any manner?

Since the changes were made only to the WebI report, there won't be any impact on the Connection.

Not needed. As mentioned before there will be no impact on the Connection.
3.) Will this affect the original report in production in any manner?
It will only impact if you migrate the report to Production. Revert back the changes in Pre-Prod box if it is small change else just ask the Admin team to do a reverse migration from Prod to Pre-Prod Box

How to create Variables(User Input Selections) in WEBI Report

              My requirement is to create a WEBI Report on top of BEx query,I have created a Universe and WEBI Report on this Universe but my doubt is How to create Variables for the User to select.The Input selection should be

Hi, depending on the way you set this up (it is not entirely clear if you are talking bex variables or report drop down filters), use the following;
For BEX variables, the choice will be in the
UserResponse("prompt message")
this you can display in the message format you want.
For drop down filters the choice will be in the DrillFilters(), this one will show all selections in one string.
However, if you want to format this to a certain message, you need to use the Formula
DrillFilters([object from drill bar])
This will give you the result of just that one selection. If the user did not select (yet), the value will be "".

Webi Reports - Object with id ... cannot be created because it has no name

I'm trying to launch a Webi report from our application using openDocument method. When the report is launched it fails with following error -
30567: Unable to save the document to the repository due to the following error: The object with id number '27731' cannot be created because it has no name. (Error: WIS 30567)
Before scheduling the report I'm calling setName method to set the name of the report but still it does not work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi John,
I will try to give you some more background about this problem.
From our application we are not directly launching the report. We schedule it to run immediately and then view the instance created (using the instance id returned by the schedule call).
For scheduling we use the web services API (BIPlatform) and before scheduling we fetch all the prompts (again using a webservice API). The call is something like this -
WebiProcessingInfo wProcessingInfo = boWebIReport_.getWebiProcessingInfo();
After that we populate all the prompts with their corresponding values in application and schedule it. However the scheduling fails with the error I mentioned in the start of this thread and when we try to view it we are presented with a screen to enter prompts again.
From the scheduling error it looks like its failing because the name could not be set but I really doubt if thats the case. We use same calls to schedule and view Crystal reports also and they work perfectly. Only Webi is giving this error.

Change dataprovider on webi report - SDK

Hello, in a nutshell, is it possible to change the dataprovider of a webi report through the .NET sdk? I have read on the forum it is only possible with the JAVA SDK? I can readout all information of the webi report datasource/dataprovider, but it is readonly.
Can somebody confirm or better tell me how to it with the .net sdk

Web Intelligence wid files references Universes in two ways - by the Universe CUID value (SI_CUID when you query for the Universe InfoObject), or by the Universe short name (SI_SHORTNAME).

The SI_ID of an Universe changes, but migrating a Universe (not just redeploying to a different Enterprise deployment) keeps the SI_CUID value the same.

If a Universe with the SI_CUID value is not available on the system, the it picks a Universe with the same SI_SHORTNAME.
Ok, perfect. Tha't solves my problem! In practice, an user sould only be able to access 1 universe at a time avoiding conflicts. Like ZABO in BO 6 couldn't handle access to e.g. acceptance and production universe at a time. It would give an error. The fullclient however gives you at least the option to choose...
You can determine if the Universe is being referenced by CUID or Shortname by querying for the Universe in Query Builder, and seeing if the SI_UNIVERSES property is filled. If that property is empty, then the Shortname is being used. Referencing Universes by shortname is dangerous, since you won't know which Universe is being used.
Like explained above, we always make sure an user has only access to 1 version of an universe and report. Please let me know your thoughs if you have doubts or comments about this construction!

Calculations with Web Report results

Hello, I'm just getting started with SAP BW and Web Reporting and thats why I need some help. I have created a Web Report that shows the query results in a table. Now I want to make further calculations within the report. Therefore I have to access the results of the web report and I just dont know how to do this. Maybe there are some javascript functions for that problem?

A basic form of web report is to show the Bex report in Web table form, for that we assign the query to the table in the web table item.
if further calculations need to be done using the already present keyfigures, then you can use the Calculated Key figure.
Depending on the scenario you can also define the cell calculations, if you have structures both in the rows and columns.
Refer to Web Table API to manipulate the cells of the web table. This article using Web Table API could be helpful for you.

Problems access to a web application (Web Interface or Web report)

Hi,
We found problems with the access to web application. Some users have problems with direct links to the web applications(Web Interface or Web reporting), when they click on the link an error message appears, the message displays the following text:
"Cannot open file Bex?sap-language=ENbsplanguge=ENcmd=idoc_TE.."
Clicking in details the message is "No Access to specified file"
For this users the access to excel reporting is correct, the message appears when they click on the direct web links through the browser or directly in BW system, but if they type the URL they can access. Other users can use the direct web link without problems.
I highly appreciate any help or idea about how to solve this issue.

How to remove blank pages from WebI Report in view page layout option

Hi,
I am working in Business Objects XIR2 environment. I have a WebI report with several sections. I need to show the report as a book with 69 sections (each section on new page). there are 69 sections on cost center and each cost center section has almost 10 sections embedded in it. When i see in regular view - I only see 69 pages but when I try to see in "View Page Lay out" option, there is one blank page added after each results page.
Please let me know how to remove this blank page. I need to give users the option to download the book as PDF on to their machine. Now, when I download to my machine, I see one blank page after each results page.

Jus convert your report in Page Layout mode and see if your first pafe is getting expand in the second page.
Now check if there are any cell going into second page.
- if there are any blank cell which is there after table.

Change order of key figure is not working in Web report output (using WAD)

Hi,
We are using BI 7.0, release 701 and level 008. We are facing problem in WAD (web report output). When ever we do 'Select filter' for key figures and 'change the order' of key figures, it does not get reflected in new order. Though drag and drop of key figures is working.
Though same change order is working fine in Bex Analyser.
Kindly suggest some inputs.

Analysis Authorization in BO 4.0 Webi report

Hi All,
I am using BO 4.0 and creating connection from Information Design tool to a BW query using BICS client. This connection is then published to CMC.
We are using SAP authentication and importing the roles from BW system. We have added profiles to this role and these profiles have Analysis Authorization set on Company Code. So one user can access data to one company code and vice versa. Now this works well in Bex Analyzer, but if I try to create a report in Webi, the analysis authorization fails. I went through the forum before posting this question and I found that is in 3.1 version and in most cases using SSO in universe connection solved the problem.
However in 4.0 I am using BICS client and followed the same processes to create a connection but for some reason it doesn't work ? Is this suppose to work differently in 4.0 ?
I have tried:
1. To create connection in Information Design tool using SSO, selecting user ID and password. It doesn't work.
2. Checked the Bex query and it already has Company code as a Characteristic restrictions (I have made it a mandatory variable).
3. Publish the connection to CMC with my Enterprise and SAP ID and in both cases it doesn't work.
Please let me know if anyone encountered a similar issue and what is the best method to resolve this.
(BO 4.0 no service pack or fix pack installed on the system yet)

Ingo : Could you be more specific what you mean here with the different users ? When you say "regular" user are you referring to an SAP credentials or SAP BusinessObjects Enteprrise credentials ?

BW Analysis authorizations issue in BO Webi Report

Dear All,
I have one webi report which is on BEx Query-universe.
Query has 6 authorization variables with ready for input(optional).
User has authorizations for all 6 fields.
But when we execute the webi report it is throwing error message like" query do not retrive data"
One of the 6 authorization fields has only few values , when we give " * " to this field the user can able to execute the report.
Could anybody tell me what is need be done here

Probabily the combination of authoriztions funcions are executing considering "and".
See your configuration to considerer "or".

How to add A single row at the middle of the table in a Webi report

I created a Webi report using Universe(Created universe using bex query).Now i have a requirement to display a row at the middle of a report. Can you please tell me ,how to add a sigle row at the middle of a Webi report.

Hi Monika,
It is not really possible to add a row (I assume you mean of unrelated data) to the middle of a table in a report. You can add a new table with a single row between two tables. For instance you could add a new one row table, or even single cells which are positioned relatively between two tables. Possibly a block on top of another. But this gets tricky.
Can you explain in more detail what you are trying to do?
