Web service end point question?

Hello,
I m using netbeans6 JCAPS enabled. I have a wsdl that has an endpoint like this;
http://abc.com?wsdl
We created a web service from this wsdl. We named our service like testwebservice. When our class created we check the endpoint and saw that it changed to;
http://abc.com/testwebservice?wsdl
It added our class name to the endpoint. Is there a way to get rid of this additional name??? We want to keep this endpoint original.(http://abc.com?wsdl)
any help would be great.

Hi Eric,
I can ping the ip of the WLS server, where webservice is deployed on Admin server (port 7001) and osb server (port 8011).
I can access the webservice from Admin server in the browser ie.
http://ip:7001/WebServiceContext/WebService_ep
whereas Im unable to access from osb server port in the browser:
http://ip:8011/WebServiceContext/WebService_ep
I can able to open OSB console in my browser which means 8011 port is open
http://ip:8011/sbconsole
Is there any configuration missing in OSB server?
Thanks

  • JAAS security prncipal not propogating in EJB web service end point

I have a web application which communicate a independent EJB module via web service end points. when request reaches the web service principal is found as null. I use BASIC authentication in web page. I works well on web pages.
Pl. help me how jaas security principals, group and roles an be propogated to a web service

Took a look at your .ear file .
So here's the problem .You are trying to use sun's proptrietary DD entries to secure an ejb-ws : <login-config> from is an entry from sun's proprietary DD.(sun-ejb-jar.xml)
oracle also provides a mechanism to transport secure an ejb-ws , though the publicly available version of app server (the one you have , did not had that feature ).The next drop will have the same .
Having said that , what you have should be enough to secure an ejb-ws if you are using only BASIC auth .
I can see that your EJB has some C:\... entries , unless those entries have the right security permissions , your ejb would not be able to load them , with the security credentials sent from the client .
When I deployed and ran your .ear file ,
    I got errors such as
<faultstring>Internal Server Error (caught exception while handling request: oracle.oc4j.rmi.OracleRemoteException: Error in ejbCreate(): nested exception is: javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: java:comp/env/configFileContent not found in RoSrapScriptExecServiceImplWSI; nested exception is: javax.ejb.EJBException: nested exception is: javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: java:comp/env/configFileContent not found in RoSrapScriptExecServiceImplWSI)</faultstring>
    </env:Fault>
implying that there are some references to entries not available inside the .ear .
you can test if the ejb-ws is deployed and running by using the test page through your browser :
    http://<your host>:8888/rochade/srap/scriptExecWSI

  • Problem getting parameter  values at the service end point

I am having problem getting parameter values at the service end point. I created service end point and this method is having 35 parameters and then i created test client file using Sun One Studio 5. but when i run this test client and make a call to service it sends wrong value to first three parameters to the service end point. I tried all the way round but it gave me same sort of problem. I change the order of parameters change the names of parameters but it didnt work. And then i started chopping of parameter from the left side. And my problem is solved when my parameter list reached to 12 from 35. So is it a bug or some problem with my configuration or some thing else.
I am using sun one studio 5 with sun one app 7. My service end point does very simple thing. It only takes out put of the parameter to the server log file. And my wsdl file seems all right. There is no conflict with the count and data type of the parameter information it contains.

I just found that there is a bug with Sun One Studio 5. It creates faulty JSP file to test the client for the web services. With above problem I tested my web services using different developing environment such as Jdeveloper 10g. I created client stub using wsdl file generated by sun one studio. And made call to my web service and all the parameter reached perfectly at service end point. And then I used stub class created by sun one studio for the client and made the same call. And it also went well. So the problem is with the test application (JSP File) sun one creates for my web service.
This is the majore problem i faced during the development. But still there is many problem along with this which is not seriouse enough but requires attension. I would like sun developers to make sun one studio IDE simpler and handy .

  • Web Service best practice question

Hi ! I'm designing a web service solution and I'm trying to figure out the best way to solve a simple situation. I haver some products at my company which need query by consumers, I need some way to let them provide some sort of unique identifier for the product in order for me to return the product complete description. Unfortunately the products are specific to my company and there is no industry standard to do the search (like an ISBN for books). So I'm considering make an adicional service to just return the products database ID in order to enable the consumer make the actual query using this ID. Is there a better way to handle this situation ??
    Thanks everyone !

services should be idempotent and stateless.
that means that transitions and workflow should be the responsibility of the client.

  • Web service connection pooling question

I have a web service running on a Win2003 machine. I am accessing it using a
client implemented in an EJB. The server is running Weblogic 8.1 SP2. It
works, but there are three things I would like to implement
    1) Connection timeouts. i.e. If the web service client attempts to connect
and does not get any response back, such as when you try to access a machine
at an address that does not exist. Note: I am already using
    setProperty("weblogic.webservice.rpc.timeoutsecs", "2") and
bindingInfo.setTimeout(2) to set a read timeout (and this works).
    2) Connection pooling. The web service endpoint is reached using SSL, and
establishing an SSL connection is expensive in terms of CPU and network
latency. Can I pool a certain number of connections, and then use them when
I access the web service? This would be faster than creating a new
connection each time. Currently, I have one line of code that invokes the
method on my web service and stores the result in an object. Any ideas?
    3) Connection limiting. I want to limit the maximum number of simultaneous
invocations of my web service by this particular WebLogic instance. Does
WebLogic allow me to do this?
    Thanks in advance.

I have used connection pooling in tomcat using a servlets init method to set up the pool, but I am not sure how I could incorporate something similar with my web service. Maybe I'm just confused as to if a webservice is created when it connected to or does it live at the endpoint untill the container shuts down??!!

  • How to invoke a short lived process using web service start point?

I have a custom short-lived process that does not take any input parameter. I am able to successfully invoke the process from LiveCycle Workbench ES2. I want this process to be invoked by a java client through a web service call. Apart from the web service URL of my process (which looks like
http://<server>:<portno>/soap/services/MyApplication/MyProcess?wsdl&lc_version=9.0.0&versi on=1.0) do the java client know anything else? Any authentication is required?
My intention is to just find out what all the consumer of this process needs to know to invoke it through a web service call.
Was anybody able to test a short-lived process through a web service invocation from SoapUI?

I am not a programmer but I did find this article on he Developers Resource site that might lead you in th eright direction:

  • Web Service + Table Function Question

    Hi!
I've been reading recently an article
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/tech/java/jsp/samples/tablefunction/Readme.html
and i was wondering is there any possibility to do the same thing in apex ?
There is a need to use the table function.
Anyone knows how to do it ?
    With regards,
    PsmakR

    PsmakR:
Unfortunately, the Web service that the particular article you reference is no longer available. There is another weather service that works for US cities by ZIP code:
    http://www.webservicex.net/WeatherForecast.asmx?WSDL
The way to interact with Web services in Application Express is either to create a reference manually, or to create a reference via a WSDL. You can use the WSDL above to create a form and report on a Web service in Application Express.

  • Web Service Connector Button Question

    from harini_d
    Hi,
I am using the web service connector component to get some data from Qaaws. However, when I view the flash file i have to keep clicking on the web service button and some other components ( like the country label) in order to populate the chart. Is there anyway that i can skip clicking the web service button.
I would ideally like to just choose the country and the chart should be populated ( with all the related data from the query from the web service). I want to avoid clicking the web service button. How do i go about this ? Any help would be appreciated.
Also, whlie selecting ranges for the i/p and o/p values for a web service connector component, I would like to select a dynamic range since sometimes i dont know how many records will be returned by the query. Is there any way to define a dynamic range.
    Thank you.

I would suggest setting up your model so that when you select a region on the map, this triggers the web service connector.
Basically, the insert in of the map must be the same cell as the trigger cell for the web service connector.
Once setup properly, you can then set the web service connector's transparency to zero to clean things up.

  • Connect Selected End Point Question

    Hi everyone:
I am trying to connect selected end points. I have drawn my open path and Illustrator is not letting me select my two anchor points. I keep getting selections of the entire path. So, of course, the connect selected end points icon is greyed out. I have tried selecting the two endpoints with the lasso and variations of the direct select and select and they all select parts of or the entire path. Does anyone know how to isolate the selection to just the two end points? Thanks so much for your help!

ALWAYS state WHAT VERSION you are using. No fewer than six different versions of Illustrator are discussed here, and functionality changes between versions.
    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
I am trying to connect selected end points. I have drawn my open path and Illustrator is not letting me select my two anchor points. I keep getting selections of the entire path.
    (Emphasis mine.)
The way you stated this suggests you are trying to close a single open path, not join two open paths. If so, selecting the entire path is what you want. With the whole path selected, key Ctrl-J. The Join command also closes an open path.

  • Change the end point in a web service client???

    Hello,
With the Web Service Proxy Wizard of JDeveloper 10g R3, I created a web service proxy that connects to a (web service) end point like this: http://carina.bicevida.cl/OidServices/OidBasicWebServiceSoapHttpPort
    My three related questions are:
1.- How can I change the end point registered in the (client) web service proxy ?
2.- How can I do this without need to rebuild the client application?
3.- How can I do this once my client application have been deployed in the application server?
    Please help.

    Hi,
    these are your options
    - Edit the endpoint meta data stored in the .proxy xml file (e.g. \src\project\myservice.proxy)
    - Use WS proxy wrapper and call setEndpoint on the proxy
    - Recreate the proxy in JDeveloper based on the new endpoint. This may require merging any business logic if it was inserted directly in the proxy (as opposed to a wrappering class)
where I think option 1 and 2 is what you would look for. I don't know how exactly JDeveloper 11 is different, but I got the info from development that there will be simplifications.

  • Using JAX-RPC handlers to proxy web service traffic

    Hi,
I want to use JAX-RPC handlers to proxy web service traffic. In some instances the handler should modifiy / verify the message before forwarding the request to the remote web service end-point. Hence, the handler should forward the call by invoking the remote web service. In some cases the result from invoking the remove service should be post-processed by another proxy handler. To ensure that the result from invoking the remote service is available for post-processing I assume that the handler invoking the remote service must add the response message to the message context ( e g setProperty method) in the handler. Is this correctly understood?
I would like to understand that this is a technically feasible and reasonable approach of using JAX-RPC. I'd really appreciate some feedback here.
    Many thanks,
    Tom

    Hi Eric,
Thanks for your response. we are trying to access WSRR( manages end point urls for 7 different environments) and generate the end point dynamically at the design time. As we figured out WSRR is not compatible with OSB we are trying to implement these client side (OSB Proxy service) handlers which would get the dynamic endpoint depending on the environment used. I was able to create the handlers for this and set the jar in the classpath but the client service which should be using these handlers have to have these handlers defined in the deployment descriptor(web.xml) which am unable to see with a OSB project.
Will there be a deployment descriptor(web.xml/webservices.xml) associated with Proxy services on OSB? Or Is there any other way to add custom JAX-RPC Handlers to a proxy service? Or is there any way to connect to WSRR directly?
    Thanks,
    Swetha
