WebAccess Maximum Message/Attachment Size?
Is there a way to limit the size of messages (or attachments) with GroupWise WebAccess 8.0.2?
I've set the size limit for the domain (Client Options --> Disk Space Mgmt --> Maximum Message Size) which is working great for my Win32 clients. It doesn't, however, seem to affect WebAccess users. I've poked around through the other objects as well as the WEBACC.waa file but don't see anything that'll let me restrict message sizes.
Thanks for the help!

GWAVA WASP can do this. Not aware of any built-in way.

Why is there a maximum email attachment size?
I can understand why there is a maximum MMS file message size but why is there a maximum email attachment size set by the handset? The limit is preventing me sending pictures from my phone. MMS messages are charged at a flat rate but GPRS data is chared per kB. My operator, Tmobile, say they have no limit on email message sizes (and obviously they make more money if you send a larger file. If I transfer my sim card to my laptop or PDA I am able to send any size of attachment with no problem. But with the sim back in the handset a limit of 100kB is imposed. I get the same result using both Tmobile or Orange sims. This is especially annoying if you have a phone that produces high quality images with file sizes several times the limit. You can have a great image with no means of sending it at its original resolution. Anyone know why this is?
Most operator's (carrier's) MMSC (Multimedia Messaging Service Center) servers do set a limit.
What the MMS size limit that's guaranteed to go through is defined by a document known as the MMS Conformance Document (maintained by OMA, Open Mobile Alliance, which is a standardization organization by mobile device manufacturers and network operators, primarily).
So, both the handsets (phones) may or may not have a size limit depending on how it was designed, and in addition the networks also have their own limits, and they do not need to be the same, but the doc I mentioned specifies what the devices and networks have to support, at least.
More on OMA (and you can try to find the MMS Conformance Doc, if you wish):

What is the default maximum email attachment size (Exchange 2003) on iPads?
What is the default maximum email attachment size (Exchange 2003) on iPads?
Maximum message size is determined by the mail server (Exchange in your case), not by the Mail app on your iPad. There are two settings in Exchange 2003 related to message size: One for incoming messages, one for outgoing. Both can be set to Unlimited, or to some number of kilobytes Exchange 2003 is a long time ago for me, but if I remember correctly the default size limit is 10240 KB (10 MB). Once those are set, the admin can also create policies to modify those limits for specific situations. You really need to ask your Exchange administrator how he/she has the max size configured.

Hi
Does the iphone have a maximum email attachment size that it can download?
I am not on about the limit imposed by your email service provider.
Thanks ChrisNo size limit per se. However, the iPhone seems to have difficulty displaying large attachments. For example, Gmail's limit is 10 MB. If I send myself a 9.5 MB powerpoint file, it downloads just fine on the iPhone, but when I try to open the file, it fails.

Maximum SOAP attachment Size?
Gurus
I have synchronous scenario that is SOAP - PI - PROXY where the proxy responds with an attachment containing the actual data. The response message contains 5 fields and PI just passes through the attachment back to original SOAP call. There is no mapping in this scenario.
While this scenario is working perfectly, we would like to determine the maximum size attachment that can come through the PI server without adversely impacting the server performance. I can not seem to find any documentation that discusses the maximum attachment size for server performance.
Do any of you have any you have anything booked marked or know from experience what the maximum attachment size should be? Is it simply a matter of a timeout on the HTTPs connection?
Thanks in advance. Thanks for all of the great answers so far.
I am able to run larger files through by adjusting the timeout feature in WSnavigator. We had some discussion here about this and we think that the amount of RAM on the machine will also be a factor. The blog seems to confirm that.
The servers we have are pretty hefty, but in order to not impact the other interfaces we have running through PI we want to keep the attachments to a reasonable size so that the consumer application is not opening more HTTP connections to our box than needed.
I guess we will only be able to answer this by testing. -
Hi
I have exchange 2010 and all users cannot receive emails with attachment size 40 GB
what will apply if we have conflict between
Global/Organizational Limit
Server Limits
Connector Limit
User Level Limits
which one of these should be applied to the user
MCP MCSA MCSE MCT MCTS CCNAHi,
The limit scope you mentioned above are used to restrict the total size of a message or the size of the individual components of a message, such as the message header, the message attachments, and the number of recipients.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/bb124345(v=exchg.141).aspx
If you want to restrict users from sending attachments larger than 40 GB, you can use transport rule to achieve this goal.

Increase File attachement size/number of attachments
Hello all,
Is there any way to raise the MAXIMUM file attachment size limit in Service Manager? We have a need to have more than 10 attachments to a request and have those attachments be more than 10mbs each (the max in the GUI). Has anyone figured out how to
increase this maximum in Service Manager 2012?The restrictions for these settings are simply hard coded into the GUI. Why, I do not know. However, it is possible to over-ride, please see this blog from Marcel Zehner:

Maximum attachment size for Mail 4.3 and can it be changed?
Hi,
We are using Exchange 2010 at work and have found via several Mac users, and which I have verified myself, that Mac Mail appears to impose its own maximum attachment size limits, somewhere around 10MB. If I take the exact same message and send it via my PC running Outlook 2007 the message sends correctly.
We have 4 users who reported the same thing so it isn't isolated to one machine. I have confirmed and re-confirmed that our Hub and Edge transports are configured to allow 100MB e-mails. Mac Mail has other ideas.
Is there a way to change this limitation as I can't seem to find anything, via Google and/or searching these groups?
I don't want to go back to Thunderbird or, worse yet, Entourage......It appears in this case to be a failure on Apples part to develop an application that support MAPI. Hopefully the forthcoming release of Office 2011 will rectify this situation.
As I said I have gone through our setup of 6 exchange servers, covering all the bases.
For instance,
get-mailbox <user> | fl MaxSize
MaxSendSize : 100 MB (104,857,600 bytes)
MaxReceiveSize : 100 MB (104,857,600 bytes)
Get-TransportConfig | fl MaxSize
MaxReceiveSize : 100 MB (104,857,600 bytes)
MaxSendSize : 100 MB (104,857,600 bytes)
All receive connectors are configured to 100MB also on our Hub Transports.
Even the fix listed in the links above, related to EWS and changing the IIS settings, which is where the issue seems to be, doesn't seem to work for me. It may be that I have missed something of course so I'll look over those links once more.
Maybe restarting IIS after the changes were made wasn't enough.....
Of course the other fix, since it works perfectly well with Windows machines and Outlook is to do away with our Macs entirely. Boy that would make me happy!! -
Maximum message size for internal users
Hi,
Is it possible to configure a maximum message size for internal users and also create exceptions?
The templates available in Transport Rules only allow for "when size of any attachment is greater or equal". This is not ideal as users can add 50 X 1MB attachaments to an email etc.
Configuring Transport settings or Receive Connectors do not allow for exceptions.
Thank you.Hi Prakash,
Thanks for the link to the thread. The AD site link configuration is valid but does not account for the required exceptions. E.g User A can send unlimited size message to User B but not to User C.
The thread also mentions the Transport Rule configuration stated in my original post but that configuration has one major flaw. Users can circumvent the control by splitting attachments. -
JMS Adapter Maximum Message Size Restriction and Impact
Hi ,
We have business requirements, where the Maximum message size that needs
to be sent or received from around 25 to 30MB usig JMS XI channels.
But, "Note 856346 - J2EE JMS Adapter: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)"
specifies as below,
2.12)What are the message size restrictions in 640/700 release and also
710 releases?
Answer: The maximum message size for 640/700 releases is "10MB"
Please let us know,
1) If you see any issues with JMS XI Adapter handling 30MB messages in
Production systems.
2) If 30MB is huge, what is the maximum permissible message size
greater than 10MB as break point.
regards,
Amit1) If you see any issues with JMS XI Adapter handling 30MB messages in
Production systems.
If message size beyond 10MB then the message wont come to SXMB_MONI itself.....may be even in CC monitoring there may not be an entry....you mentioned Production Systems.....did you checked in Dev? The behavior wont change from Dev to Prod.
2) If 30MB is huge, what is the maximum permissible message size
greater than 10MB as break point.
10MB itself is the limit...anything above that wont be processed.

Abhishek. -
Hi,
I have had to increase the Maximum Message Size on each of several weblogic server instances from 10,000,000 bytes to 30,000,000 bytes. The upper limit for this value is 2,000,000,000 bytes.
What are the performance implications for the other server instances when this field limit is increased?
Does anyone have a recommended initial value for this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.Hi,
This maximum message size helps guard against a denial of service attack in which a caller attempts to force the server to allocate more memory than is available thereby keeping the server from responding quickly to other requests.
Secure value is 10000000.
Go through the following link and find the needfull information on this issue.

Maximum attachment size capable by Contentserver and/or Gateway
Hi there,
is there a maximum attachment size for up- & downloading attachments to the Contentserver? Are there any known file measurements capable by the Gateway? While playing around with an 100 MB file our Tomcat (we are running the 5.0.2 Portal and Contentserver version) screwed up and needed a restart.
If there are any "best practices" for file measurement it would be nice, if you can provide us with some information. Figuring it out while increasing or decreasing it step-by-step sounds like a hardly painful job to me ;-)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Maximum message size in AS/JMS?
Is there a maximum message size that the Oracle 10G AS JMS provider can handle? It works fine with 63-64KB message sizes, but if I send anything larger it rejects the message.
I'm pretty sure there's a way to adjust this limit, but I cannot find it.It doesn't seem to throw an error message - at least not in the logs that I have searched through -but rather simply rejects the message. Everything works properly if the message is trimmed to fit the 64K limit.

Maximum Message size OSB can handle
Hi,
I am trying to find out the maximum message size OSB can handle without any problems.
I know this may be dependant on JVM settings etc,but what is a safe limit. Can the payload size be of 1 GB etc , say for a WSDL based proxy service.
Any formal documentation on the size of messages?
