  • PC Webcams Compatible With iSight?

My friend wants to get a PC webcam so she can videochat with me. However, I often find that many PC webcams do not work in iChat when I attempt to connect with them. Does anyone know of a PC webcam that can videochat with my iSight?

I really don't quite understand your question. Does your friend use a Mac which does not have a built-in iSight so she needs a webcam? Or your friend uses a PC?
    Anywho, check out the following:

  • Thinkvision 2251 WEBCAM compatible with Thinkpad T60?

    Greetings,
Purchased a Lenovo Thinkvision Monitor with integrated Webcamera model L2251x 22" wide screen. Have a Thinkpad T60 laptop. After nearly 7 hours of online support, telephone support and researching customer forums, loading every driver I can find for the monitor and laptop, I'm down to a program called Lenovo Webcam Center by Intervideo. Driver from Lenovo website noted below:
    HYPERLINK "http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/options/mediaonegallery.exe
I am at the point where it asks me to enter the serial number for the software. As the webcamera came integrated with the Monitor, and the T60 had no webcam, I have no serial number. I checked out the Intervideo website to see what it would cost to get the SW license, but it says it is no longer sold. I would be willing to pay a nominal amount to get this webcam working.
Can I get a serial number for this old software? If I do, you think the T60 and 2251 Monitor are even capable/compatible for Webcam? Lenovo has been poor at support and this seems a common issue on the customer forums.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Painfuul 7 hours trying to figuure this out, anyone know?
Have loaded every driver I can find for Webcams from 2251 CD, Lenovo for both laptop and monitor and every forum link I could find. Down to this WEB gallery driver from INtervideo that seems no longer supported and stupms me at the SERIAL number during load as thwew 2251 didn't come with this (and the T60 had no cam to begin with).
    Any help appreciated.

  • External webcam compatible with Presario CQ56 z-2100

Need to find external webcam for Presario CQ56z-2100 that is compatible with its AMD V140 processor, 2.3 Ghz.  Looking at Logitech but requirements are for 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo.  Will it work for my Presario?

Just need something reliable for calls.  I also realized the upload speed requirements of 1Mbps are way more than our internet service provides (250 Kbps).  Looking for whatever works reliably with Skype considering the low-speed upload.

  • Are Creative Lab Webcams compatible to Dell Computers?

I have a Dell with XP Media Center. I just purchased a Logitech and I get that dreaded blue screen or error. I called Logitech 5 x's and they told me their webcams aren't compatible to Media Center. They recommended that I just return it.
The only thing is Creative Lab is the same company as Logitech and I was wondering if anyone knows of if it's going to have the same prob. If so does anyone know of a brand that is compatible to Dell?

Most USB wifi adapters require third-party drivers, and few of them have Mac drivers available. You're likely to be better off with a PC Card slot wifi adapter like one of the following:
    http://www.sonnettech.com/product/aria_extreme.html
    http://www.macwireless.com/html/products/wirelesscards/11g_11bcards/11gPCCard.php
    http://www.macsense.com/product/networking/wpe800.html
These cards all use the same chipset as Apple's, and work transparently with Apple's own software.

  • What webcams are compatible with OSX Mavericks?

I've been saving and saving and saving to get a webcam compatible with my Mac - latest Mac Mini - and finally have enough extra money for it. (These things are expensive outside the US.)
Problem is, I've heard many webcams don't work with Mavericks (and I have latest update - 10.9.2).
What brands should I be looking at? I preferred Logitech, but I've been hearing bad things about their compatibility.

Any USB webcam that meets the UVC standard can work with your mini (provided your mini is using Mac OS X 10.4.9 or later.)    The seller or devices's documentation can confirm that a given camera is UVC-compliant.
Don't install any software that comes with the webcam.  All necessary software drivers have been part of every Mac OS X version after 10.4.8.  You will save money and may avoid possible software conflicts by not buying features and installing software you don't need.
If you want some specific suggestions from the many available brands and models, take a look at Mac Compatible Webcams.  For a low cost solution from a company that has supported Macs for a long time, consider iCubie.
The best solution for your compatibility concerns with your first webcam is to buy locally.  The retailer who sells you your mini is perhaps the best source for a compatible webcam.  Ask the retailer to demonstrate Mac mini compatibility with the webcam before you buy.  Not only will you be assured of compatibility, you can see the camera operate, know what image quality to expect, and discuss any questions you have so you can start using your new webcam as soon as you get it home and connected.

  • Video webcams + 466 clamshell = ?

    Hello
I am looking for a webcam compatible with ichat 2.1 on a 466 clamshell.
Is there anybody here with hands-on experience setting up either a firewire or USB solution for the lowly clamshell? I know this software is available for USB, and that it may run on a 466 [http://www.ecamm.com/mac/ichatusbcam>, but I am looking for camera recommendations too. I do not crave anything high-quality, just something that works.
    thanks!

I've found the Logitech quickcam pro works well on my old ibook. Its made for laptops, but the clamp it uses to attach to the screen works well with the clamshell. It doesn't fasten to my tibook nearly as well.

  • Logitech Ultra Vision webcam and iMac G5: blurred

I purchased the Logitech Ultra Vision camera because it was recommended to me to work with the driver built into the OS. And indeed it does. However, the output picture quality is poor as the picture is blurred. Poor in quicktime, poor in Skype, better in Photobooth.
Q: Is there anything wrong with the camera or is the driver working poorly with the G5 iMac? I will test it on a windows machine tomorrow in order to eliminate a faulty camera.
Does anybody know any third party driver that would improve he sharpness of the picture? Macam, unfortunately does not work for it yet.

  • My Mac Mini did not come with a webcam

Can anyone recommened one, not too expensive? A simple webcam compatible with Mountain Lion?

"Some the of Logitech Webcams work with a Mac. The C615 is one"
I tried this webcam yes it worked but when I went to used photo booth and used the interactive background it failed to work. I took it back for a refund.I even tried the Mac drivers but that made no difference either.
I have played with a Mac mini in-store and when you choose a background it asks to stand out of shot so it can scan the background and once it has done that you get back into shot and you should have a fancy background. Sadly on my 2013 Mac mini it does not ask you to leave the shot and you become invisible instead.
I was going to an Apple store to inquire about what web cam would work if any but it is quite far from my home so have not gotten round to it yet.

No instruction manual came w/the cam? If not, do a Google search for one. You can also call Fuji tech support and/or visit their tech support website for instructions.

  • Can an iSight be plugged into a modern Television?

I've never really played around with firewire that much. Will firewire cameras work if plugged into firewire ports in tvs? I know DV camcorders work just fine through that port but are firewire webcams compatible?

    Hello SuRoot,
To your broader question of will iSight work as a FW camera, the answer is "Yes" as long as the iSight receives 25Volts DC through the FW cable. Here's a cable example:
    http://www.1394store.com/eshop/product.asp?dept%5Fid=62&pf%5Fid=0814C%2D05
The difference between camcorders and iSight is that the camcorders are powered either by a battery or by a plug-in adaptor. The iSight relies on the power to be supplied by the computer: through the flat, pointed one-end, FW cable.
If the TV powers the iSight, it probably would work, but I doubt that that is the case.
Here is a typical cable that you would expect to connect a camcorder to the TV (6-wire to 4-wire):
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00005NIMR/ref=pdbxgy_textb/103-0183606-4799069?ie=UTF8
If this is the cable you plan to use from the iSight to the TV, no power will be supplied to the iSight and it won't work.
Any camera or camcorder needs power. Apple designed the iSight to only have one cable, supplying both power and data.
    Hope this helps.
    Respectfully,
    Bill Gallagher
