WebCenter Sites and UCM integration

Hi,
Can any one help me to integrate WebCenter Sites with UCM.

There are a number of approaches to doing this, and it totally depends on the version of UCM you're using (and the version of Sites too for that matter).  Have a look at this presentation that Bex Huff and I gave at Collaborate last year.

  • BPM and UCM Integration

I want to save some flexField value of a BPM human task into a custom field created in UCM doc store, for that i am following the following steps
    1) Created a custom field in UCM document store
    2) Created a flex field in BPM work Space
    3) Added pay load in human task from the "*data*" tab of human task flow
    4) Mapped Pay load with the flex field of BPM Work Space
    5) Now when I want to map the pay load attribute by adding a custom attribute in the "documents" tab of the human task, IDE is not allowing to add any custom fields except the pre populated values.
In this situation if I want one of my human task payload attribute to be saved in the custom field created in the document store how to do it. According to the Oracles guide we can add a new attribute through the "**document**" tab of the human task flow but it is not happening.

OK, so you are using the attachment option from BPM.
I gave you few hints in my previous post, but I will explain them in more details:
    a) BPM has its own metadata
Forget for your document for a moment - the BPM process instance still can have its own metadata. These are used when you create BPM screen flows.
I think you will need to create a BPM parameter to store your custom value first. (and this is really purely a BPM question)
    b) A document can be attached to a BPM process instance
In a sense, such a document is nothing, but an additional information for the BPM process instance. This has nothing to do with document-oriented workflow (quite often, the attached document enters no workflow at all); it is the BPM process instance that routes across the organization, not the document.
    c) BPM metadata <--> UCM metadata
AFAIK, there is no integration between BPM and UCM concerning metadata. You may check-in (attach) a new document using UCM profiles, but for your process this value is not visible - unless you call a service to retrieve it/update it. If you implemented a) (created your custom value in BPM), you may call UCM's services to update this value - at the minimum when you are leaving from the BPM workflow step.

  • Regarding BPM and UCM integration

we are unable to add a custom attribute in documents tab in Human Task Flow, where we want to pass a custom value to be stored in UCM for retrieval of the document
How can we add a custom attribute in HumanTaskFlow, which has to be stored in UCM doc store.
but i am successfully uploadingdocument into UCM with out metadata attributes
    Thanks Regadrs

  • IPM and  UCM Integration

    Hi all,
We are currently working with a system, which has integration between IPM and UCM. We are plan to have one invoice application in IPM which stores documents of multiple companies. As we identified, once we upload documents all are store in one storage place. But we are looking to segregate those documents according to the company. It is not possible to have different applications for different companies in the IPM since we are having over 100 companies.
We have tried to use Storage rules for UCM. But it doesn’t work with the combination of IPM and UCM
Can anyone suggest a way to implement this requirement ..
    Thank you,

My question is this, why would you need a separate file location for each one? What does the location of the files have anything to do with anything? The key here would be to store a vendor ID or name. Where they exist on a disk is completely moot, and defeats the purpose of a DocManagement system. Perhaps back when storage was expensive this might have been something to worry about.

  • WebCenter PS4 and UCM 11gR1-11.1.1.4.0

About to start installing the latest version of WebCenter PS4 and want to link it to an already existing instance of UCM which is "11gR1-11.1.1.4.0-idcprod1-110927T172036 Build 7.3.0.180". Is there any particular problems anyone is aware or should this work just fine?
I don't really want to start with an older version of WebCenter if I can avoid it.

    Hi
Yes, that will work as well since all that we are doing is to connect Webcenter to UCM which will act as the repository .
    Thanks

  • WebCenter Sites and Model–view–controller (MVC) framework

A customer of our started developing their sites using Webcenter Sites, they want to support additional functionality such as transaction management, exception handling, custom logging and so on. I was wondering if anyone has experience with the Model–view–controller (MVC) framework, they consider it an ideal candidate for these features. Has anyone here used the MVC framework in conjunction with WebCenter Sites to write additional java classes, facade layers and utilize the Spring controller to wire the same ? Are you aware of any other options available for this purpose ?
    regards,
    Pietro

    Hi Pietro -
Using Sites IN a MVC framework is very difficult, because the entire context of WebCenter Sites is burned into the COM.FutureTense.Servlet.SContentServer servlet.  You can't really work around that with any degree of reliability.  Unfortunately, that means that dropping Sites into a pre-existing third party MVC framework doesn't really work.
There are a lot of good reasons for that, not the least of which is the two-tiered pagelet-level caching system that makes Sites so very fast at delivery... not that it's any consolation.
To deal with this some former colleagues of mine and I built the GST Site Foundation ("GSF") framework, which provides a Spring-like MVC container WITHIN sites, instead of the other way around.  If you're familiar with Spring, you'll see patterns similar with the GSF.  My current team and I have blogged about this extensively:
What is this whole GST Site Foundation thing? | Function1
Create a Simple "Contact Us" Form with GSF | Function1
How to Add Your Own DAO to the GSF Actions | Function1
The full stream is here:  GSF | Function1
But ultimately, the special sauce is the following: in Sites, create an XML element that contains nothing but a <FTCS> tag, a <CALLJAVA> tag, and a closing </FTCS> tag.  Your CALLJAVA will then call a class that implements the Seed or Seed2 interface, and from in there you have access to the (properly managed) ICS object where you can do all of your magic.  You can then build a lightweight controller here to handle any action you can dream up:
    https://github.com/dolfdijkstra/gst-foundation/blob/master/gsf-wra/src/main/java/com/fatwire/gst/foundation/controller/A…
Let me know if I can help!

  • Issue in WLP and UCM integration using VCR adapter

    Hi All,
I am working on a priority customer POC .
I was trying to integrate WLP with UCM and done all the installation and configuration according to VCR adapter guide.
The version of WLP is 10GR3 and UCM is 10GR3.
I am getting the following error in connecting the the UCM repository:
An exception has been thrown while attempting to persist changes for the service: Repository Configuration.
Error authenticating to repository: UCM Repository. Possible cause could include, but is not limited to a bad repository configuration or the repository is unknown.
I have done the repository configuration from Portal Admin console not from the Workshop.
    Please look into this.

  • ODC and UCM integration

    Hi All,
I am facing one problem while using ODC and UCM.
Thing we are able to do:
    1. We are able to login in ODC through Windows Active User Credentials.
    2. We can add users in Capture and that users are able to login into capture. We manage users in Capture Administration.
Note: We are using Windows Active Directory for Authentication.
Things we are not able to get:
    1. We want to login into Oracle Document Capture (ODC) using Oracle UCM user credentials.
    2. After login (with above possibility) into ODC with UCM user, how can we get user credential automatically populated in
File CabinetàCommit profileàCommit DriveràConfigureà here those user should come.
    3. All the users created in UCM must be present in ODC user list.
Kindly revert back in case of any concerns.
    Thanks in Advance

    Hello,
Maybe I'm wrong but I'll try to answer myself.
Finally we have managed to connect ODC and UCM, but not passing the content ID from ODC. The solution was to set up UCM to autogenerate IDs in documents. That way you don't need to pass and ID from ODC.
    Hope it helps to someone.

  • Webcenter Portal and UCM - Content Presenter Error

    Hello,
I get an error while I'm adding a Content Presenter over the default resource catalog of my webcenter portal application and try to create content.
When pressing the create content button a new browserpage opens and after beeing logged in to the Content Server the cs/resources/wcm/custom/sitestudio/contentwizard/webcenter/contentwizard.hcsp is called and this error message appears as an alert:
"*this placeholder is restricted, but no region definitions have been specified*"
    Thanks for any advice!

Looks like the configuration of UCM (SSXA) is not completed in your system. Take a look at this manual http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/doc.1111/e13650/toc.htm to understand the relationship between region definitions and placeholders. Note that Content Presenter is just a client here (it's a matter of WebCenter Content configuration).

  • Webcenter PS3 and UCM

    Running Win 2008 Server 64-bit, 11G db, Weblogic 10.1.5
I just installed Webcenter and I'm trying to run the demo application by following:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/webcenter.1111/e10273/prepare.htm#CEGHGFEC
The Tutorial talks about 'checking in files' usingthe Universal Content Management:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/doc.1111/e10797/c06_checking_in_files.htm#CSUSG905
    My questions are:
    1) Do I need to install UCM in addition WC?
    2) Where can I obtain the right version of UCM?
    3) How is UCM best configured and where can I find documentation on it?
    Many thanks, J

    Jay,
Oracle Enterprise Content Management Suite 11g does not support running Oracle UCM, Oracle IBR, or Oracle URM as a service on a Windows operating systemUCM is certified to run on Windows, Perhaps the Managed Server for UCM cannot be configured as a windows service. I'm not exactly sure about that one. Here's the general certification information:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/ias/downloads/fusion-certification-100350.html
    and specifically for UCM:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/webcenter/content/oracle-ecm-11gr1.xls
This shows that Windows Server 2003 SP2/R2+ & Windows Server 2008 SP1 & Windows Server 2008 R2. So any of those and you should be fine (i'd try to stick to linux though :) )
Can you please explain the implication of this on running UCM with WC? Does this mean UCM cannot be used? or does this mean UCM must be installed as a seperate >component? UCM is a content management system. WCPortal is a portal framework. If you want to integrate CMS features into WCPortal, they you'll need to have the appropriate back-end system in place. Eventually, it'll be easier to plug in 'any' CMS, but Oracle's is the best-practice and most supported solution.
UCM is a separate component, & more specifically, a separate Managed Server. You should also consider installing IBR as another Managed Server. This is according to the WCPortal docs.
Or does this mean I can still use UCM as a content repository even though it is not supported as a service by ECM? Thank you!UCM will be a fully functioning content repo if used with WCPortal. It will depend on your license as to exactly what you can do with that instance of UCM. I believe limited use licesenses given with WCPortal say that the UCM instance is expected to be used through the WCPortal and not standalone. You should talk to your account rep for specific details.
You don't need a UCM instance solely for WCPortal, but it's probably best practice to have it be that way in production.
    Does that help out?
    Thanks,
    -ryan

Looks like the configuration of UCM (SSXA) is not completed in your system. Take a look at this manual http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/doc.1111/e13650/toc.htm to understand the relationship between region definitions and placeholders. • Webcenter Imaging and AXF Integration

    Hi,
I am implementing the solution accelerator solution (Imaging and EBS R12 integration). I have followed the steps given in the document and at the end of the integration to check if AXF is integration is done successfully or not , I need to execute a command.
The steps taken to do the integration is -
Configuring the EBS Adapter for ECM
Configuring the EBS Adapter has two aspects – the server or AXF has to be configured with the invoice processing solution and the EBS plug-in has to be configured to match. The solution accelerator includes SQL scripts that can be used as a starting point for this configuration.
    Configuring AXF
1.Locate and open AXF_SOLUTION_CONFIGURATION.sql, contained in the dbscripts directory of the accelerator distribution, in a text editing program.
2.Perform a search and find the “AXF_SOLUTION_ATTRIBUTES” table insert statements, replace all occurrences of the BPEL connection name ”test” with the BPEL connection name configured in IPM. Save all changes to AXF_SOLUTION_CONFIGURATION.sql.
3.Perform a search and find the “AXF_SOLUTION_PARAMETERS” table insert statements, replace all occurrences of “MyIPMServer:Port” with the server and port of your IPM server. Save all changes to AXF_SOLUTION_CONFIGURATION.
4.4.Connect to your database with the AXF Schema created during AXF Installation.
5.Execute AXF_SOLUTION_CONFIGURATION.sql and verify that the insertion was successful. (NOTE: If you have already run the insertHelloWorldBpelData.sql script you may see constraint errors when running this script. These can be ignored).
    Configuring the EBS Plug-In
1.Locate and open AXF_EBS_SOLUTION_DATA.sql in a text editing program (this SQL script is located in the EBS directory of the solution accelerator zip).
2.Perform a Search and Replace action on “http://MyIPMServer:Port”, replacing it with the fully-qualified machine name and port of the server where IPM/AXF is deployed. Save all changes to AXF_EBS_SOLUTION_DATA.sql.
3.Connect to your database with the EBS Schema created during AXF Installation.
4.Execute AXF_EBS_SOLUTION_DATA.sql and verify that the insertion was successful.
    Configuring Coding Form Lookups
Locate the AXF_LOOKUPS.sql script. Execute the scripts as the E-Business Suite configuration schema user (APPS). To execute the script, enter:
    @AXF_LOOKUPS.sql
To verify the installation of the Invoice accelerator, perform the following steps:
    1.     Access the driver page using the following URL:
    http://host:port/imaging/faces/Driver.jspx
    2.     After logging in, enter the following values:
    1.     Solution Namespace: InvoiceProcessing
    2.     Command Namespace: StartInvoiceProcessing
    3.     User Name: (set according to your configuration)
    3.     Select the Execute Command button
    4.     The AXF Response should be displayed in Response Commands table:
NOTE: Your Conversation ID will be different than the one displayed
    5.     Select the Execute Response button.
    6.     The AXF Task list should be displayed with the My Saved Tasks, Manual Entry, Validation Failures and Pending Verification views that you configured in the BPM Worklist.
I am able to generate the conversation ID. But when I hit the "Execute Response" button, I am getting a 500 error page.
Any pointers would be really helpful. Please let me know, if I need to post this query on any other forum to get any responses as well.
    Regards
    Avi

    Hi Vikrant,
I have got the error snippet from the diagnoistic log for SOA.
I think I have found the error - if you see below, the XML input stream points to : http://http://://usatl01lt616.amer.lendlease.com:8001/soa-infra/services/default/InvoiceProcessing/invoiceprocessing_client_ep?WSDL: http: Error in getting XML input stream
Do you think this can be an issue? Also, to resolve this, I was thinking of modifying the BPEL processes and re-deploying them via Jdeveloper. Do you have a better option to get around this?
