Weblogic 6.1 with Oracle 9i on Win-2000

Hi
Is there a driver that is compatible for Weblogic 6.1 and Oracle 9i(9.0) on Windows
2000 environment? I tried the classes12.zip from oracle home\sid\jdbc\... but
the error I get is "No suitable Driver found"..when the Connection Pool starts.
Please suggest the right way...

    Hi All,
    When i try to connect forms6i with the DB[Oracle 8i] in Win 2000 I get an error stating TNS could not resolve service name. The error number is ORA-12154.
    Thanx

    Hi "User", seems you have the same problem
    like all that do their first-time install :-)
    Forms uses a different Oracle_HOME (required by setup), and hence does not "see" the "settings" of the normal client.
    Try the following:
    - Set up a connection with NET80-Tools
    - Test with SQL*PLUS
    - Copy "tnsnames.ora" from the Client-81-Home
    to the forms-Home, e.g.
    cd ORACLE/FORMS/NET80/ADMIN
    copy ORACLE/ORA81/NETWORK/ADMIN/tnsnames.ora
    Of course, you'll have to check for YOUR
    directory names...this is just a samples, resp. mthe setup of a machiche I configured yesterday. HTH.
    /M.

  • Problem in using Weblogic 6.1 with Oracle 9i

    Hi,
    Has anybody experiensing problems in creating connection from Weblogic6.1 to Oracle

    We have a piece of codes that works fine with Weblogic 6.1 and Oracle 8.1.7 but

    It works after I put the new oracle driver ahead of the weblogic stuff.

    it in Weblogic 6.1 (as Startup class), there are problems.
    First, it takes 833700ms to create a connection (It takes 981ms tocreate a connection

    Then, it gets "java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00600: internal error code,arguments:

    We run weblogic and oracle on Windows2000.
    The code looks like:
    Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver");
    String username = "yourusername";
    String password = "yourpassword";
    String host = "yourhost";
    String sid = "yoursid";

    String sql = "select * from yourtable";

    Connection connection = DriverManager.getConnection (dbURL, username,password);

    Hi at all. I want to manage a cluster having 2 nodes on windows 2000 server each of them with Oracle 10g. I have VMWare 5.0. Someone can suggest me a detailed tutorial how to start and built it? Thank you very much for your answers.
    Saverio Sergio Mola

    the cookbooks here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/linux/vmware/cookbook/index.html
    will explain how to install.. however the VMware Workstation product doesn't offer in a supportedway the sharing of two nodes of disks.. there are hacks out there, but they are not very stable. We therefor chose to install two instances on one node to showcase RAC, rather than make it complicated and unstable to use and showcase.
    there are also ready made VM's from above page, so u can quickly evaluate it for both Red HAt and SuSE.. when vmware can support such sharing in an easy supported way we might re-evaluate.. until then my personal suggestion is to stick to simple case.. 2 instances on one node.. its easier to copy, snapshot.. etc.
    Enjoy..

    Hi Joe !
    I didn't get what you would like to point out. Actully, I am using same config.,
    but not to disclose the info. I gave you @test and username/password xxx/xxx.Ok. Now, assuming your pool looks like what I showed, the issue is probably
    that there are multiple Oracle driver zips around, and your standlaone program
    is using a different, newer, better one than the server. Our weblogic jar files
    include a classes12.zip Oracle thin driver, but there are multiple versions of
    classes12.zip, and the latest from oracle is better than the one we sealed into
    our packaging. Please use jave -verbose to identify exactly which Oracle sip file
    you are using in the successful case, then make sure this zip file comes before
    any weblogic stuff in your weblogic server's classpath, so we'll use the same
    driver. This should work. Edit the script you sue to start weblogic to verify
    the classpath does end up with the oracle driver ahead of all weblogic stuff.

    .MadhuriWell fine! That was easy. Your pool definition didn't have the same URL
    or

    weblogic.jdbc.connectionPool.thin=\

    The DBMS driver exception was:

    Now we need to simplify the problem. Please make a simple 15-line
    standalone
    Java program like you'd find with the Oracle driver's examples, with
    no
    weblogic code in the picture. Just make a JDBC connection using Oracle's

  • Weblogic Enterprise manager with Oracle Portal

    Hi All,
    Iam working on a architecture defination which is basically a B2B and B2C based web applications. I intially thought the Oracle Portal+Oracle BPM as the right combination as it gives a complete technical stack as well as we will have a well defined control over the integrations.
    Since the application requires high sclability and high transactions support, wanted to choose Weblogic Enterprise manager instead of oracle AS. In this context i have following quoestions
    1. Will the Oracle Portal+Oracle Discoverer+Portlets(PLSQL, JAVA) can be ported onto WEBLOGIC Enterprise manager server?

  • TNS - No Listener with Oracle Lite and Win 98

    When I try to do a tcp/ip connection to my oracle 8i lite on windows98 OS I get the ORA-12224 error, that is I can't find a TNS listener server. (where can I find documentation on how to do this)???
    On NT I must start ora80tns service, but under windows98 what must do i do ???
    I've tried to configure the options for the listener using the Oracle Net8 Assistant exactly the same as NT (the NT Oracle 8 Enterprise works) but the Win 98 won't...

    Network issues in Windows, and the impact on Oracle install in general, are discussed here:
    http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b14316/reqs.htm#BABIAEEC
    Bottom line - you will need to come up with a useable & consistent IP address (from the loopback adapter, usually you use 127.0.0.1). I'd suggest, then you reinstall XE to use that IP address, get it working locally, then use the Application Express screens to 'enable it for the network'.
    XE has it's own forum. Needs separate registration and needs you to sign in to the forums (daily) to see it after registration. This has been discussed in detail many times in that forum. Registration is at http://www.oracle.com/technology/xe/registration and this link Oracle Database Express Edition (XE) will get you there after signing in again.

  • Creating Managed Server for Weblogic that comes with Oracle Service Bus

    I've installed Oracle Service Bus 10.3.
    Weblogic Server 10.3 comes bundled with OSB 10.3.
    Everything is working fine in the Admin Server.
    But when I create a Managed server and try to start it, I get the following exception and server doesn't start :

    I've tried changing the boot.properties file and given clear text username and password, but even this did not change the exception.
    Are there any other security concerns that are to be taken care of while configuring Managed Server for Oracle Service Bus?
    Kindly help.

    How are you starting the manageserver. Is it using command line or using NodeManager from Weblogic console of admin server. Most of the times we start managed server using yourDomain/bin/startManagedWebLogic.cmd (.sh).
    startManagedWebLogic nameOfYourManagedServer adminURL(Ex: http://host:port).
    If you created a managed server at the time of creation of domain itself using custom option, then under your domain root folder, you should see a file named like "startManagedWebLogic_readme.txt" that kind of gives the same above command.
    If you added the managed server later on, to an existing single server domain, then you can use the above command.

  • Weblogic 8.1 with Oracle 9iR2 RAC

    Hi, Expert All
    I am having a problem of unbalanced connections connecting to two instances of an Oracle 9iR2 RAC db. I have 3 Weblogic Servers. The situation is that most of the time (8/10) majority of connections made to instance1:instance2 are (server1 2:25, server2 1:26, server3 0:27). It seems that the tns entry of (failover=on)(load_balance=on) is not working. :-(. So how can I achieve a relatively balanced configuration? Thanks.

  • Developer 6i Installation with Oracle 8i on Windows 2000 Server

    Hi Folks,
         We are using Oracle 8i (8.1.7) with Developer 6i for the past 2-3 years. Oracle 8i is installed on Windows 2000 Server and the client machines have Developer 6i installed. Using the Net 8 Easy Configuration Utility, the clients and the server are linked perfectly and we have never experienced any major issue regarding the connectivity from the client’s sides.
         Now my question is that, is there any possibility that we can also install Developer 6i on the server, ‘cause we have tried this several times and every time after installing Developer 6i on the server, the Net 8 Easy Configuration Utility does not invokes and obviously we are unable to use any of the Developer 6i products and moreover after installing Developer the already installed 8i Database does not gets mounted and we are also unable to use the database.
         Are we missing some basic stuff here or do we need to run some patch for Windows 2000 Server?
         Another thing, all our forms and reports are residing on client’s hard disks; can we also have the option that the forms and reports should also reside on the server so that we can easily update our forms and reports definitions from the server side?
    TIA
    Hassan

    Hi,
    Yeah, I installed both the products i.e, database and developer in separate directories.

  • Repair broken Oracle cluster on Win 2000

    I have an Oracle cluster (8.1.7. with OFS) running in a Windows 2000 AS environment. There are two nodes and -luckey me- it is on a test network.
    A while ago I tried to install OEM in order to be able to configure a OMS.
    I performed the install on the inactive node without stopping the Oracle (cluster)services (stupid, stupid....) and broke it off when it hung at the end.
    From that moment on this node is no longer available for failover in the cluster. This operation seems to have affected this node's Oracle home. Later on I performed a de-install but this did'nt help.
    Now I wonder:
    is it possible to repair this 'broken' cluster and if so what would be the procedure to follow?
    Thanks in advance,
    Georges

    At last I solved the problem myself.
    On both nodes I desinstalled all Oracle products (Server, Fail Safe..) and later installed them again (first Oracle EE on both nodes, then OFS on both nodes).
    Mind that all the fysical files for my databases were still available on SAN disks!
    With the ORADIM utility I created services for my two databases on one node.
    I recreated the Oracle clustergroup and added the necessary disk resources etc with Cluster administrator (Win2000).
    I started Fail Safe Manager and added (one by one) my databases as standalone resources to the Oracle group and went through the verification process without warning.
    Now everything is working fine again...

    The number of times you have been asked to post sufficient details for your questions, we would expect you to have got the message by now... but clearly not.
