Weblogic Enterprise manager with Oracle Portal

Hi All,
Iam working on a architecture defination which is basically a B2B and B2C based web applications. I intially thought the Oracle Portal+Oracle BPM as the right combination as it gives a complete technical stack as well as we will have a well defined control over the integrations.
Since the application requires high sclability and high transactions support, wanted to choose Weblogic Enterprise manager instead of oracle AS. In this context i have following quoestions
1. Will the Oracle Portal+Oracle Discoverer+Portlets(PLSQL, JAVA) can be ported onto WEBLOGIC Enterprise manager server?
2. What is the feature of OracleASOC4J?
Request to respond on this as quicly as possible
Advance Thanks,
Sreedhar

In a RAC environment database control runs by default on a master mode, when this node goes down,EM does the same. There's a comprehensive article on metalink how to handle this:

I am looking for documentation which explains the steps in detail on how to integrate peoplesoft Enterprise with Oracle portal. I found this http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/portal/pdf/oow06_S281760_apps_integration.pdf. But, I am looking for some documentation which explains the process in detail.
Could somebody please suggest pointers to the documentation.

    Any responses to this?
I am also looking for a more detailed "Guide" of sorts for the integration.
Must say that the presentation is pretty good though.

    hello,
somewhere (i really don't remember where, but it was in the oracle documentation) i'm sure i read that already in 9.0.4 you could use dcmctl when enterprise manager was up. but i've never experienced it and i prefer not to try!!!

  • Integrating Web Services Manager with Oracle Portal and SSO

    Hi,
I wanted to throw this out there and make sure I was on the right track and also if somebody can point me to some resources online that might help. Basically, we have OWSM acting as a Gateway securing some web services. Oracle Portal is integrated w/ Oracle SSO (as well as using OID). What is the best way to pass the credentials to the OWSM from the Portal for authentication purposes? I believe using SAML voucher token is the way to go, but I'm not positive. Has anybody done this before and if so, what methodology did you use? I'm assuming since using SSO, we don't necessary want to also pass in the password.
    Thanks,
    Nathan

I have noticed that nobody has same kind of situation and this is not intresting question. Still we have same problem and I have heard many oracle employee saing that this behaviour is wanted situation. In our kind of virtual host enviroment it would be nice to choose behaviour of Single-sign-on server and I request oracle support to find out ways to enable this option... I would be pleased if some oracle development would say opinion about this mater. Waiting for ideas.

  • Integrating Microsoft Filenet content Management system with oracle portal

    1. Client is having Microsoft Filenet system as content management.
    2. Client wants to integrate Filenet system with oracle portal.
    3. Please confirm whether it is feasible or not and kindly suggest us the
    document for integration process.

    I think clue is on the this line;
    at oracle.security.jazn.oc4j.JAZNFilter.doFilter(Unknown Source)
make sure LDAP connection is working. Make sure use default ports for all connections. Most of the samples on the OTN uses default port, if you change them you, you have to modify sample code.

  • Document Management System created with Oracle Portal

I am currently reponsible for creating a DMS with Oracle Portal 10.1.4. I want to know, are folders usually represented as Portlets or Page Items?

One more question. Our Oracle Portal system will be the "window" into several other applications, including Oracle Discoverer and external applications. The plan is that the functionality for the DMS should only be for the DMS. Because the DMS will have basic and advanced search functionality that should only search the DMS repository, do you suggest creating a separate Page Group for the DMS or one overarching one for the overall Portal and the DMS piece will have subpages? I'm not sure if development will be more complicated or simplistic with a individual DMS Page Group.

  • URL Re-Direct With Oracle Portal.

    Hello,
We have some old portal based applications that we want to re-direct to the newer version and we have tried doing a redirect in the httpd.conf file and restarted the http server but its not working.
    We have
    http://hts03:7778/portal/page/portal/TestMichael/StaffList and I want to re-direct it to: http://hts03:7778/portal/page/portal/PG_SITELINK_V2/P_SITELINK_HOME
So in our httpd.conf file we have:
redirect /portal/page/portal/TestMichael/StaffList http://hts03:7778/portal/page/portal/PG_SITELINK_V2/P_SITELINK_HOMESo we are wondering what we have done wrong and can we use redirects with Oracle Portal?
    Cheers,
    Paul.

Why don't you use a rewrite rule ?
    RewriteRule ^/portal/page/portal/TestMichael/StaffList /portal/page/portal/PG_SITELINK_V2/P_SITELINK_HOME
And don't forget to run dcmctl updateconfig -ct ohs after updating the httpd.conf manually. If you edit if through Enterprise Manager, it is done for you automatically.
    Thanks,

  • Version and Configuration Management in Oracle Portal

    Hello ...
How is version and configuration management applied to real-life, large Oracle Portal applications, where e. g. both development, test, and production environments are used?
The build-in version management in Oracle Portal is inadequate for such environments.
Any suggestions, opinions, ... on this matter would be highly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Poul

In my opinion, Portal has a lot of work to do in terms of configuration and change management. If you are using Portal as an application platform, as opposed to KM, you are better of developing java portlets, so that you can use the SCM with JDeveloper and stay away from the application components. If you do want to use the components, then application export/import is the only way. You can setup your own procedures for handling the exported files (version etc).
You don't really version KM apps. Content is meant to be posted and otherwise administered by content area admins and users. It is not a "application", that must be change managed. There are versioning features available at the item level, which is adequate (but by no means a complete versioning system. Use iFS if you want that).
I have heard quite a few horror stories about exporting and importing content areas.
A 3-system Portal landscape, in my opinon, is overkill and trying to fit an existing approach to a new tool. A test/dev and a production Portal might be more palatable to the IT budget.
    My 2.5 cents

  • How can I send files by FTP with Oracle Portal?

I want to send some file by FTP.
How can I send files by FTP with Oracle Portal?
    Any ideas?

    Enrique,
Are you trying to transfer more content from remote locations to expose as items within a portal page? By itself, the Oracle Portal runs within the context of the database so I'm not sure how FTP at the OS level will help. However, if you're attempting to transfer files from a remote PC to upload within the Portal, here are a couple of suggestions.
    Option 1:
    A. Create a portal page.
    B. Convert a region to Items.
    C. When you're challenged to upload a file from the local OS, ensure you've a drive mapped to your remote location and pick the file to upload into the Oracle9iAS Portal.
    Option 2:
Alternatively, the Oracle9iAS Portal 9.0.2 supports the WebDAV protocol(Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning Protocol) allowing endusers with a WebDAV client to upload content into the Portal seamlessly from their desktop.

  • Configure Enterprise Manager with multiple Listener

Configure Enterprise Manager with multiple Listener
I have created 2 listeners and connected my database with both the listeners. If I stop one listener then it automatically uses second listener vice versa. But facing problem in case of enterprise manager. If i stop first listener which is on 1521 port it is not connecting to another listener which is on 1522 port.
    any help ?

Your potential problem is Enterprise Manager simply doesn't KNOW about that second listener. You can easily verify that when you look at the monitored targets.
Enterprise Manager also reconstructs automagically it's own tnsnames.ora! So, it doesn't connect to second -completely redundant and useless - listener, because the tnsnames.ora entry on the Management Sever is incorrect.
Simply because you didn't made sure OEM could discover the second -completely redundant and useless- listener.
I notice you apparently don't want to read documentation. Yet the only way to work successfully with Oracle, and to become independent, is to read that documention.
Apart from that you should be able to find agentca.bat on your OS with one command, so, yes, I pointed you to the documentation, yes, you can find agentca.bat.

Depends on how big is your database.
For small database, doing a export and import is quick and dirty.
For larger database, I would suggest migrate the database. But this means a lot of work and test. This is what I would do if I am doing amigration:
    1. Do a cold backup of your 815 database
    2. On your new test box, try to install 815 and start your old database
    3. Upgrade your database to 8174
    4. Install 10gr2 on your new test box
    5. Migrate your 8174 database to 10gr2.
    6 Test a lot
    7. Repeat steps 1-6 2-3 times
    8. Document tthe process and your test results completely.
    9. Repeat what you document on your production box.

Note that when the producer is OC4J 10.1.3.1.1 then it works fine. The OC4J log file is also not throwing any exception. So, i think some problem with Oracle Portal 10.1.4.
