Any ideas,

Beginning with Leopard, Mac OS X supports the so-called UVC web-cameras, you do not need any driver for them. I have just bought a small, pretty and cheap one, Logitech C110.
My older Genius 1321 is unfortunately unusable from SL onwards, but works with Tiger and Leopard. It is not UVC, and drivers are not available any more.
conclusion: if your camera is not UVC will not work via ‘plug-and-use’, you need an updated driver, check with the manufacturer. If they do not offer any, buy a UVC one, they are very cheap, but you do not need anything. The one I have just bought works fine, and also has internal mic.

  • USB headset does not work after upgrading to Yosemite

I upgraded MacBook Pro 13" retina  to Yosemite and lost Logitech PC Headset 960 sound.
System preferences shows it in input and output, but no sound.
After I plug in and out  headset I loose even internal sound for Spotify.
When headset is plugged in Youtube videos on Chrome stops playing, when I take them out - video resumes.
Hardware should be ok, because I have 2 pairs of such headset (both of them are not working) and the same hardware on Windows 7 (bootcamp) do work with headset perfectly.
Have anyone the same/similar problem. Does anyone has solution? Should I migrate back to Maverick and how to do it?
Already reset everything what was recommended to reset etc.

    1. System Preferences > Sound> Sound Effects
        Play sound effects through:
Select Logitech/headphone and then back to "Selected sound output device".
2.Launch iTunes and play a song through headphone and adjust the volume.

  • Mail not working after upgrading to Lion

I have recently upgraded to Lion and my Mail program will not open. I get a message that says that "You can't use this version of Mail with this version of Mac OS X. You have Mail 4.5".  I would have thought that Lion would have installed the latest verion of Mail. I have tried reinstalling Lion and I get the same result. What do I do to correct this?

I am pleased to say I was able to resolve the issue. The problem was the Lion installation did not replace the Shortcuts on the desktop. These shortcuts were linked to the older Mail program. The same was the case with my Address book.  I deleted the shortcuts on the desktop and then created shortcuts to the updated programs that were in the Applications folder. Now they all work.

  • Bash commands not working after upgrade to Lion

After upgrade, many BASH commands not working. For example, such a fundamental thing as "ls".
    iMac20:bin a$ ls
Launch of "ls" failed: the PowerPC architecture is no longer supported.
What does it have to do with PowerPC? My computer is 2.66 GHz Inter Core Duo

    Linc,
    iMac20:~ a$ which ls
    /sw/bin/ls
Also, I managed to look (using tcsh's ls-F command) into the contents of /usr/. Here's what I see there:

  • ITunes not working after upgrading to Lion OS V10.7

I have upgraded to Lion OS V10.7 but I lost all my playlists on iTunes. I tried restoring iTunes from my last back up, but now I am unable to open iTunes at all.

Yeah, that's happened to me a bunch, it's a pain the the arse. Delete your shortcut and create a new one.
To do this navigate to the c:\program files\iTunes folder (assuming you've selected the default location) and find the iTunes.exe file using the right mouse button right click on it and you should get a menu with an option to create a shortcut. Once the shortcut is created you can drag it and drop it wherever you need, start menu, desktop or quick launch bar.

  • [SOLVED] raid1 and luks/dm-crypt not working after upgrade

    hello folks,
i just made a pacman -Syu, which also updated mdadm and cryptsetup (not the kernel). but after a reboot, the system didn't boot any more. after #'ing the cryptsetup-relevant lines in /etc/crypttab and /etc/fstab, the system booted again. after a check, i get those messages:
    ~ $ cat /proc/mdstat
    Personalities : [raid1]
    md1 : active raid1 sdd1[0] sde1[1]
    390707641 blocks super 1.2 [2/2] [UU]
    md0 : active raid1 sdb1[0] sdc1[1]
    1465134841 blocks super 1.2 [2/2] [UU]
    unused devices: <none>
    ~ $ sudo cryptsetup luksOpen /dev/md0 data
    Passwort:
Geben Sie den Passsatz für /dev/md0 ein:
semid 65537: semop failed for cookie 0xd4d2ffb: incorrect semaphore state
Failed to set a proper state for notification semaphore identified by cookie value 223162363 (0xd4d2ffb) to initialize waiting for incoming notifications.
what happened and how to fix it?
i didn't change anything. so it shouldn't be anything about modules or whatever.
EDIT: okay, it's not aboud the raid, but about the cryptsetup version. see below.

    SOLVED!
It works again with the new version of the device-mapper: 2.02.81 (no unknown semaphore state anymore).
But also the crypttab syntax has changed. After removing the options in crypttab, cryptsetup 1.2.0-1 works again.
    Old crypttab file:
    # NAME     SOURCE DEVICE     PASSWORD     OPTIONS
    #home     /dev/sda4     ASK     -c aes-xts-plain -s 512
    #data     /dev/md0     ASK     -c aes-xts-plain -s 512
    New crypttab file:
    # NAME     SOURCE DEVICE     PASSWORD     OPTIONS
    home     /dev/sda4     ASK
    data     /dev/md0     ASK

  • USB Flash drive not working after upgrade.

Its a SanDisk 8GB USB memory stick with the U3 filesystem on it. It works fine on Windows machines and on 10.5, but won't show up as a useable volume in Finder when inserted into my MBP.
Oddly enough, it does show up when I run Parallels - but only in the windows VM. It also shows in Parallels in the list of attached USB devices.
It just won't mount as a volume.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
copy anything on your drive to your desktop in parallels then reformat the drive.
There's a good article Here on how to format a drive for Mac and Windows.

  • Time Machine not working after upgrading to Lion

I have a Time Machine 1.2 which worked perfectly on my old iMac OSX.  A few months ago I purchased a new iMac which came with Snow Leopard, and it worked well.  But when Apple came to upgrade me to Lion, the Time Machine no longer works.   Is it not compatible with Lion??
At one stage I was told there was no room on the disk.  I then tried to delete most of the previous backups, leaving only a handful of backups - but still no luck.  I think I might have messed up things by then trying to edit the "do not back up" list. I tried to exclude some programmes applications , and now I am told there are no disks available to be backed up.
It is not very clear on the "options" screen, what one should do. What does the + and - indicate, and is it necessary to remove any files at all if I want a simple regular backup procedure on my home computer.
Lastly - if I wanted to uninstall and reinstall the Time Machine - is there a procedure?? I can't find one.
I hope someone can put me right.

I was brave and did what you said. (Thanks for being patient - I am an old lady).
I erased the external drive (called Time Machine Backups) in the diskutility.app.
Now - when I restarted Time Machine I am still told that there are no disks available to be backed up, and that this can happen if all disks are in the “Do not back up” list.
So maybe I really did mess up the list of items to be excluded from backups?
How do I restore the list now to what it should be?

  • Audio Line-in Port not working after upgrading to Lion

I have recently upgraded to OS X Lion...
since then, I am trying to continue my Rosetta Stone program, and it hasn't been able to detect a mic.
So i opened system prefs and looked and it won't register any of the 3 different mics I have plugged in.
The input level never increases, showign that it doesn't even recognize something is plugged in.
I didn't have this problem until I upgraded.
    Please Help!

What is "wrong" with your Apple ID?
    Try the following:
    - A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
