Weird Blurry Sections on the Sides of the Screen

This is only a minor problem, but it sure is annoying. Parts of my screen are blurred. If you divide the screen in thirds, the middle of the screen is crisp and clear as usual, but the left and right sides are blurry. What's going on?

Well, I don't know if that will work. I have a game that I play, and when I play it in fullscreen mode, there is no blurriness, but when I play in window mode there is blurriness.

Enlarge a section of the screen or at least vertical zooming option

Isn't there in FCE the zooming funcionality of Logic (Zooming to enlarge a section of the screen to fill the whole window)?
And if no, is there at least a vertical zooming option?

I'm not sure I understand what you need.
In any case if you want to enlarge a section of the clip, you can use the Motion tab of the viewer: open the clip from the timeline into the viewer, open the Motion tab, change Center and Scale until the section you want is centered in the window and zoomed as required.
If you want you can also keyframe both Center and Scale to move them as you like.
As another possibility you can activate Image+Wireframe in the canvas, and while the clip is selected in the timeline you can drag the image in the canvas window to move its center, and drag one of its corners to change its zoom.

Firefox 4 blacks out and distorts sections of the screen if I scroll on a website, navigate the bookmarks, at the addons/extensions menu or sometimes just randomly. Occasionally this causes it to crash often with the rest of the computer (no crash report). The previous versions of firefox all ran fine.

I seem to have fixed this by setting layers.acceleration.disabled to true (In about:config). I assume this is something to do with graphics hardware acceleration but I am not sure what the wider consequences of changing this setting are. Nothing seems to be going wrong so far though.

So I have a 15 inch MacBook Pro 2.2 ghz Intel Core 2 Duo with 2 gigs of ram. Recently the DVD drive has died on it but more importantly it has started having weird black things on the screen and it will freeze right up. It has been doing this more and more. It will do it when I have had it running for a long time and everything is hot, it will do it when It has just been sitting there in a screen saver doing nothing, and it will do it when I have just had it on for a few min right out of my bag. I am running Snow leopard on it. I have never seen a machine do this before in my 10 years of having Apple Laptops. Anyone have a similar experience? Blurry fonts on the screen - Windows 8.1- Framemaker 12

I installed a group of adobe fonts bought in 2002 in Windows 8.1 by clicking every .PFM file and clicking on the install button. Everything seems fine. According to the Microsoft support knowledge base, the .PFM file should be in the windows-->fonts directory. And they are at the right place. Each font comes with two files with different file extension : a .PFM and a .PFB file extension but I cannot see the .PFB files. Is it normal ?
The question : why my fonts look so blurry on the screen, I simply cannot work.

As long as both the PFM and PFB files are in the same folder, they should be properly installed when you right-click on the PFM file and select the Install option. The PFM file contains the metrics for the font, while the PFB file contains the glyph outlines in a binary format.
Type 1 fonts are supported through the Windows GDI (graphics device interface). There where issues with GDI+ and the newer WPF ( Windows Presentation Foundation) used in newer applications doesn't support Type 1 fonts.
For your specific Type 1 fonts, you should switch to the TTF equivalents supplied with Windows 8.1, e.g. TimesNewRoman, Arial, Courrier New. These contain unicode encodings and have substantially more glyphs available than in the old Type 1s (which were code-page specific and restricted to 255 glyphs), i.e. time to retire the old ones.
Also, if you try an online search, you'll find that there are quite a number of issues with Win8 and fuzzy,blurry font rendering, e.g.

Left hand section of the screen discoloration in lockscreen

My 8gb memory 13 inch display Macbook pro retina is relatively new (couple weeks old). Recently I noticed when I put it to sleep mode, and turn it back on to the lock screen, I see a section on the left hand corner of the screen which has vertical streaks (a lighter gray pigment color than the rest of the screen). I've done some testing on it, and the unusual thing is, it literally is only visible when on the lock screen, in which my background is visible. So I don't believe it is a hardware issue pertaining to the screen; possibly software issue?. But it does give me some concern, especially because my laptop is only a few weeks old, and the most I've done on it was some document work, emails, videos, etc. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

ITunes has weird lines all over the screen, then crashes.

Installed iTunes 8.0.1 and it's got the same configuration troubles. It happened when I installed iTunes 8 but I just did the whole regedit solution and changed permissions. Have tried doing that for 8.0.1 and I can change all the permissions the right way but it still does not fix the problem. Have also tried finding and replacing the iTunes.exe in Program Files but either I'm blind or it's just not there because I can't find it anywhere. The only way I can get into iTunes is by plugging my iPod in, it opens iTunes without prompting a restart of the computer. However, this lasts between 10-15 minutes before the interface just changes, it gets lines where the columns are and all the album artwork in the Genius sidebar is replaced with 'Cannot Find' symbols. At this point iTunes crashes and I have to close it and plug my iPod in again to get it to come back up. What in the blue **** is going on?

I'm also seeing some weird lines across the screen before itunes crashes. It happens after an hour or so of using itunes. I'm using Vista with iTunes v8.0.2.20. Any suggestions? Could it be the size of the library (~65,000)?

Different clips in various sections of the screen...

The only way I am familiar of having various clips on the screen at once is by arranging them in the tracks and then cropping, scaling, and moving them around in the canvas.
Is anyone familiar with another method?

When opening a new tab from the bookmark it opens in a section of the screen

sometimes I open bookmark link from the favourites, it happens regularly that those do not open in a new tab or window but in a portion of the screen, as if I pressed Ctrl B and opened it in there in the bookmark.

Opening in the Sidebar is the default action for bookmarks that are created via a "Bookmark this Page" link or button on a website. Make sure you use the many "Bookmark this Page" methods that are in Firefox instead.
Right-click that bookmark and select '''Properties''', then un-check the preference for '''Load this bookmark in the sidebar''', and then click Save.

After downloading and updating my iPhone my apps are now backed up on my laptop and I can't move them back over to the phone. I tried to follow the instructions in Help section, but the screen where you are supposed to select the apps to share won't let m

The screen where you should select the apps you want to share is greyed out. It won't et me drag them either. Any thoughts?

I understand that you updated your Apple Id and password but now you are being prompted for the old information in iCloud. You are on the right track by changing the Apple ID back to the previous email address temporarily so that you can sign out. You should not need to verify the email address. After you edit the Apple ID back to the old email address and then sign out of iCloud on your iPhone, edit the Apple ID back to the address you would currently like to use. There is no need to change the password again, only the email address, unless you prefer to update the password again.
If you're asked for the password to your previous Apple ID when signing out of iCloud - Apple Support
Change your Apple ID temporarily
If signing out and back in to iMessage or FaceTime didn't help, try these steps:
Change your Apple ID to the Apple ID you used previously. You shouldn't need to verify the email address.
Tap Settings > iCloud. Complete these steps only if the Find My [Device] setting is turned on:
Scroll down and tap Sign Out, then tap Sign Out to confirm. If you're using iOS 7 or earlier, tap Delete Account, then tap Delete to confirm.
Tap Keep on My [Device] or Delete from My [Device]. In either case, your data remains in iCloud and will be updated on your device when you sign in to iCloud again.
Enter the password for your previous Apple ID.
Change your Apple ID to the new email address that you want to use. You'll need to verify the email address.
Return to Settings > iCloud and sign in with your new Apple ID.

Applying filter to a section of the screen? other question:

Ok, I've used the mask to isolate one part of the screen to which I applied a blur filter. So now, The people near the lence are out of fucus and then become in focus. What I'm trying to do is: as the people in front get in focus, the people in the back get out of focus (blurred). I'm trying to use the "add/substracte" function of the mask, but it doesn't seem to be animatable. I was thinking about making a duplicate of the background and the mask and animating both.

Or use the compound blur filter and use the shape tool to fashion a graphic for the area you want to blur and dump it into the shape well...

Hi I have a strip across the middle of my Iphone 4 screen that is not repsonding to touch at all. One minute it was working the next it wasn't. It's right across where I need to input my pincode to unlock, so I can;t do anything with the phone at all. I've tried soft resetting it etc but no joy. What else can I do - phone is only 6 or 7 weeks old

well recomend to see if ur iPhone is under warranty.. but sounds like a hareware issue! you can try it but i dont think it would work but to see if its a software issue put device it Recover mode or known has DFU mode an force restore (you will lose all content on the iPhone) an install 6.1.3 fresh on it but to me sounds like a LCD & Digitizer problem might need a new Assembly...

The interface is so big, that I can only see a small section of the screen.

I installed Photoshop CC 2014 on Windows 8.1 operating system. I inadvertently checked a preference in the 'experimental' I think, that has caused the interface on my 17'' Dell CRT to be so big that I can't navigate around to change the preferences again. I can see maybe a sixth of the workspace that I'm in. How do I fix that?

Well, if you can't see enough of the interface to reconfigure it, you *could* reset all preferences to defaults...
Press and hold Control - Shift - Alt simultaneously immediately upon cold-starting Photoshop. If you get the keys down quickly enough - and you have to be really quick - it will prompt you to confirm deletion of your current preferences, which will lead to the establishment of a fresh default set. If it does not prompt you, you haven't been quick enough to get the keys down.
