Weird ibook display please help!

I have an ibook g3 dual usb. I was having crashes and couldn't empty the trash etc. etc so I decided to to do clean reinstall. I ran the disc through several disk utilities saying the disk needed to be repaired. I repaired it, then erased it. Put a new os, 10.2 and the weirdest thing happened, the os opened in a tiny screen within the screen. So went to system preferences and looked under displays, and only a 1024 x whatever, option is available! No other screen resolutions! So I updated it to 10.2.8 and it loaded ok (still small screen with screen with black backdrop) and now it won't restart. Keep getting the "you need to restart your computer..." in all languages. Please help.

It sounds like you've installed a version of the OS that is too old or incompatible with the iBook. Check out this Apple Knowledge Base article:

Do you have the system CD's that originally came with the iBook?
What is the MHz rating and what kind of optical drive does it have (CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD, or Combo)?
How much RAM is installed?
The "you need to restart your computer..." message is indicative of a _kernel panic_.

Rendering an error-display - Please help!!

I'm about to give up. I use the Orion 1.5.2 appserver for EJB, JSP and servlets. It works great and is the best appserver i've tried so far. Except for one thing:
As it seems, Orion doesn't have a custom error-page. When I invoke 'response.sendError(...)', Internet Explorer receives the status-code and displays its own error-page ("this site could not be reached"). Netscape displays some similiar page, showing the status-code and the attached message. But I want to show a custom error-page, that show more information about the message, and looks good as well. How can I accomplish that? I've looked through the forum and browsed through the documentation of Orion... nothing...
Ohh, and one more thing... Does anyone know how to make orion use another database than HSQL for EJB's? I want to use MySQL with the MySQL J/Connector.

Weird Screen Issue, Please help

Ok I have had my iBook G4 since Dec. 28, 2005 and until today everything was going just fine....
Well this morning I went to wake it up to check my email and wham, the screen was all dark, I could see a faint image of my desktop, but barely visible. So I tried to wake it up, moved the mouse, tried the trackpad, spacebar and nothing worked, so I restarted. Then about an hour ago it did it again, and I had been using it about 15 mins before that. Only restarting remedied the problem, although the screen was dark until the apple apeard with the light blue screen behind it.
Does anyone know what could be causing this or how to fix it, I've heard my friend say she has this prob with her Powerbook, would it be the same issue??
Please help!!!

Do you have an d to be able to hook your iBook G4 up to a external monitor? You may want to try starting up in Safe Mode (<a href="<a href="http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107393">Knowledge Base Document #107393 on How to Startup In Safe Mode). It is a stretch, but it may work. Do you have anything connected to your iBook? Do you have it plugged in? Have you recently installed or updated any software on your computer? You may want to bring it to your local Apple Store/Reseller.

Weird error message; please help!!!

that was the error I got and I have no idea what it means. DrawingCanvas is a class I wrote and I don't think there is anything wrong with it but I don't know what the error means so can someone please help me.

My Final Cut runs slow and does weird stuff!, please help!

I have a Mac Pro 2x2.8ghz with 2gb RAM and Os 10.6.2, Final Cut 7, QT 7.6.3 several FW discs and one 500gb SATA I am using for my FCP project.
Ok here is the problem: every time I start FCP it takes a very long time with the color wheel spinning, maybe 5 minutes or so, then when it finally runs most of the times some keyboard shortcuts are not working: like the space bar (play), which is specialy annoying, or the "a" command. Then if I run a little demanding sequence, like right now for example (several HDV 1080i files, stills, transitions and Live Type movies) it just doesn't run, keeps dropping and skipping all around. It even takes over a minute if I just click the mouse to move to a different location in the sequence.
I know I don't have the biggest available hardware piece of equipment, and I could use a little more ram either, but I am not trying to post produce "Harry Poter 10" here, is just a little video for a client!
Any thoughts?, please help!, I tried everything I can think of... (erase prefs, reinstall FCP, reinstall OSX, etc)

Fonts display : Please help

We migrated forms6i to forms 10g. But when displying forms thru browser,
Fonts are not comming properly.
eg:
Command button title is "Leave Allowance"
It is comming like this, "Leave A....."

You can have a look at Metalink Note:1016006.4 :- JAVA FONT MAPPING FROM WINDOWS, MOTIF AND MACINTOSH FONTS. You can try modifying the defaultSize Parameter & see if it helps.

Songs minutes display - please help!

Let me see if I can explain my question...I've been teaching Spinning at my gym for a couple of years now. For the songs I use, I've added with information about the song in the title to help me teach. For example, we may do something different during each chorus in a song. So if a song has 3 chorus' at :33, 1:45, 2:10, I add that at the end of the title and the information scrolls through as I am teaching. It keeps me from having to keep a notebook with my teaching notes. I have an ipod classic. We also now have an ipod nano. My ipod classic *counts the song up* - it starts at :00 and goes to the end. Our newer nano *counts the song down*. Does anyone know how I can change the newer ipod to count up like the older one does?? *PLEASE HELP*

Doesn't it count DOWN on the lower right corner and count UP on the lower left corner (below the progress bar)? I don't have a nano, so maybe it's different.

I dont know if this belongs here or the ipod forum but I believe it belongs here because of itunes. Okay, everytime I plug in my ipod to update it, i get this message saying "Itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close." and when I went to see what was wrong it was something to do with Quicktime I guess but they dont have solution for it so im stuck. Okay, I went to go download the Quicktime Standalone file and it uninstalled my Quicktime. So I clicked the file again and it installed it. Im still having the error message when i try to update my ipod on itunes. I heard that Norton Personal Firewall has something to do with it but I have 2004 not the 2005 one so Im like really stuck and dont know what do to. I hope this cleared up my question, I was in a rush in my last post.

Disk won't burn, weird message. Please Help!

Whenever I try to burn a disk, it starts, and then ejects it with a message that says, "The attempt to burn a disc failed. The device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media."
If anyone knows the problem or understands the message, please help!

It'a a FILE, for heavens' sake. And to any computer, all files are essentially the same thing - a string of bytes. What makes a file vulnerable or less vulnerable is how it's handled by whatever program is using it, or to a lesser extent the storage mechanism. And when it comes to .xml files and Adobe, they don't have a particularly good track record with some of them - notably the ones they use for system settings and presets.

Using Cinema Display - Please Help

Hi All,
I have been working with my new 15" MBP and loving it, not one problem to report! I will be traveling with the MBP and when I come home, I would like to use this computer with my cinema display and apple wireless keyboard and all of my other home office stuff. Can you please tell me the correct way to use my cinema display with the MBP, I have never owned a laptop before - but this MBP is clearly better than my old G4 Powermac and I would like to keep everything on my new MBP rather than using two computers anyway.
Also, is there an extension cable available for the cinema display to run from the monitor to the MBP?

It would be nice if you could be a little more specific with your request. The only correct way to use a display is to plug the DVI cable into the MBP. There should be something in display in your system prefs that will give you the option to mirror you laptop on an external display. Once you do that everything else should just work (assuming you plug it all in). When you say an extension cable you mean just for the video portion, right? Not any usb/firewire ports? that is a 10 foot dual link DVI cable. It will support through a 30" display so that should be a great cable. I hope this helped.

I have a ibook G4 and a Mac mini G4 equal, long time ago that I am a mac user and the truth I am more than happy, there's nothing better.
The point is that a few days ago I gave an "Apple 15" Cinema Display ADC studio monitor "and so far I have not been able to connect to any of my mac, they tell me I have to buy an ADC to VGA adapter, the question is whether someone knows where and how can I buy this adapter? Because Apple descuntinuo this product several years ago.

Problem with system error messages display, please help me

in the bottom of the screen in the default toolbar or taskbar , Now my requirement is to display such messages in the Center of the screen in the form of Alerts. What is the way of doing this. Please tell me step-by-procedure.

You can trap such error messages in a form-level on-error trigger:

Premiere CS4 weird behaviour. Please help!!

Hello all,
I recently purchased cs4 production premium as an upgrade to my cs3 suite. After installing everything seems normal, but when i try to open videos in premiere en encore it doesnt work properly: the video gets some kind of a weird blue/red glow and it doesnt show continuously. Also the graphics in photoshop are not displayed right. I first thought it was some issue with other software on my laptop! so I reinstalled vista and after that installed cs4 but no luck. So now im guessing it s a hardware problem. Im currently using the suite on a acer laptop with the minimum requirements (otherwise it wouldnt have installed right?) specs are intel core 2 duo 1,8 Ghz, 1024 MB ATI Mobility Radeon 2300 2 GB DDR etc.

Should I install it on another computer of do I need better drivers (I have the latest for my videocard) or do I have to change some settings? Please help

I can't view Youtube from where I am now, but your second description sounds like a graphics card problem.
I don't know about Vista x86, but I'm having a terrible time with my ATI Radeon HD 2600 under Vista x64. :(

Screeching Noise from left side of IBook G4, please help!

Last night my Ibook G4 froze up so I powered it off for a few. Then I went to turn it back on and it just went to a blank grey screen, so I let it sit over night and cool down, this morning I go to turn it on and it makes this god awful screeching sound when I boot it up. It's coming from the bottom left of the laptop, right next to the USB ports...It sounds like a high pitched smoke alram, and at certain points it will go away depending on how i hold it. Any help please? What should I be looking for, it still wont boot past the grey screen? Thanks.

The best way to protect your stuff is to always have a current backup of everything. This is especially important before any major procedure or upgrade. Dr. Smoke's FAQ Backup and Recovery has excellent suggestions on developing a backup strategy. Here is how I suggest you proceed:
You will need an external firewire HDD like this one at OWC. I suggest a minimum of 250 GB, which can partitioned so that the first partition is the size of your internal HDD as suggested in Dr. Smoke's article. You should also get one with the more reliable Oxford 911+ chipset.
You should then use a utility like SuperDuper to clone the entire internal HDD to the partition on the external HDD.
You can then use SuperDuper to keep your backup up-to-date.

You need a 2.5" (P)ATA/IDE drive up to 250 GB for your computer. 7200 drives currently come in capacities up to 100 GB, while 5400 rpm currently come in sizes up to 250 GB. Here is a list of available HDDs at OWC. Most manufacturers off a 3 year warranty, while Seagate offers a 5 year warranty. Seagate drives have highest user satisfaction ratings.
Installing a new HDD on a iBook is a bit of challenge, but it is doable. You will find directions at ifixit. If you think you would like to attempt this, please post back for additional tips.
im assuming i'd lose all my saved docs and music on my previous HD?
If you clone your HDD you will be able to restore from your cloned backup you will be able to restore to your newly installed HDD.
