and now my video sometimes is glitchy.  the output looks like this:
Also the computer crashes sometimes when I view a flash video in full screen or when I come back to the screen saver.
I think this has to do with the new video drivers but I'd like to know how I can fix the problem.
I don't know what other logs to provide as I'm pretty new (using arch for a 9 months) and I haven't had video problems before.

I just noticed that the video card crashes after i come back from sleep mode.
Here's the kernel log: http://pastebin.ca/2050145
and the Xorg.log: http://pastebin.ca/2050146
For this crash, unlike the one that happens when I view a flash video full screen, the problem can be fixed if i log off and log back on.

  • HP Pavilion p6-2155a (64bit, running Win8.0)- Problem with AMD Radeon HD7450

    Hi,
Have noticed various posts re problems with AMD Radeon HD7450.
For several months, I've had problems with my "video hardware causing Windows to stop working correctly". Until yesterday, this was more of a nuisance than a real problem (so I thought). Yesterday, I had my first BSOD, caused by video_scheduler_internal_error.
Today, I downloaded sp59360.exe & installed, as suggested by the HP website. On checking the Device Manager, this driver appears to be older (Version 8.982.10.0, Date 28.8.12) than the one I had previously (Version 8.982.10.6000, Date 18.9.12).
About 30 minutes ago, while away from my computer, I think I had another "video hardware caused Windows to stop working correctly".
Have I done the right thing in installing sp59360.exe? Should I roll-back to the previous driver? What is causing my problems? Is it possibly a faulty card?

    Hello @Mazza52,
I understand that you are getting a BSOD error related to your graphics card and are seeking assistance. As you have tried multiple drivers and are still getting the BSOD I think we should do a backup and recovery of your computer to rule out software as being an issue.
To backup your personal information and ensure that it is not lost I would like you to review and follow the steps set out in the HP Support document: Backing Up Your Files (Windows 8), which will ensure your personal files are up to date.
***WARNING!! If you want to keep any emails or bookmarks/favorites you will want to back those up as well as I do not believe they are backed up in the HP Backup process.
Next, I would like you to review and follow the steps set out in the HP Support document: Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8), which will you through recovering your computer back to factory settings.
*** IMPORTANT - Your personal files such as libraries, personalization settings, user accounts, and desktop themes are permanently removed. As well the computer settings are returned to the defaults (the way it was when it came from the factory). All apps and software that were installed on the computer when it came from the factory are reinstalled, and their settings are reset to the defaults. Additionally, software, apps, programs, and everything that you have installed or saved on the computer are permanently removed.
If after this you still have the same problem then the issue appears to be a physical issue and I think it would be best if you contact HP Technical Support for repair options.
As for the drivers you installed and had installed the Version 8.982.10.6000 driver from what I can see is for Notebook computers and just happened to work for you the driver Version 8.982.10.0 is the one you should have installed.
I would like to thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!
Please click the "Thumbs Up" on the bottom right of this post to say thank you if you appreciate the support I provide!
Also be sure to mark my post as “Accept as Solution" if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others who face the same challenge find the same solution.

Problems with ATI Radeon HD 2600, electrical interference or flickering pixels
I have a Macro 8 core purchased just 4 months ago with the ATI Radeon HD 2600. Just started getting what looks like electrical interference or flickering pixels all over the screen. It gets worse and worse to the point where i see and cant work then clears up for an hour and then comes back.
If I change the resolution from 1680x1050 to 1600x1200 everything looks fine and the problem goes away.
Monitor works fine on two other computers, driver is up to date.
Would like to upgrade at some point just disappointed that I’m already having problems.
Any suggestions would be very helpful, in the mean time I’ll searching the forums.
    Thanks,

When you called Applecare or went to a Genius bar were they of no help?

To map the drive on your computer click on Start - RUN - type "\\192.168.1.1" and click ok... When prompted for Username and Password type "admin" and click ok... Now you will be able to see the folder which you have shared on  your router, right click on it and select "Map network drive" and click on finish.
Now it will map the drive on your computer and you should be able to transfer the file from your computer to the USB drive.

Sorry my english language  is weak...:manvery

  • HT3964 For the past several months my MacBook Pro has been shutting down. I get horrible video with marks and striations acress the laptop screen and an additional monitor and the weird video problems until the multilingual notice comes up saying to shut

I used two monitors, and several months ago the MacBook Pro started crashing frequently. It seems like it might be overheating. Sometimes the disks seems to race. I leave the computer on most of the time and it sleeps when I am away, but when I come back in the morning it will have colored striations across both screens, and soon the multilingual announcement comes up that I have to press and hold down the power key.
Also, when using a progam like Skype video, the video goes insane frequently, with Skype windows freezing, video freezing, Skype window cutting in half, and eventually the computer crashing.
It seems to be a video problem.
    What do I do?

I would take some screen shots of the anomalies and take the MBP to an Apple store genius bar.  I you cannot reproduce the display problems, the screen shots will at least give them a start point for an analysis.
    Ciao.

  • Video problem with CS4.2

I am having an unusual problem with my cs4 programs, noticed most within PPro and AE.  Quite frequently my entire monitor image will momentarily shift a few pixels down and to the right.  It will return to its correct alignment within less than a second.  Also, when I click on a menu item, the drop down menu will appear correctly for about a second then disappear until I run my cursor over the area where the menu should be.  At which point the menu will reappear one line at a time beneath the cursor.  When the item appears, I can activate it normally with one click of the mouse.  This also happens when I access my title screen, Media Encoder screen (from within PPro), etc.  The programs have also started freezing on me more frequently, requiring me to close out using Task Manager; sometimes even requiring a reboot.  Otherwise, the programs seem to function fine.
I operate in WinXP Pro and work in standard def with the following hardware (all drivers are up to date):
Asus p5q3 deluxe motherboard with 4gigs of memory
ATI Radeon HD 2900xt with 512mb of memory
         Matrox RT.x2
I know just enough about computers to be dangerous, but I'm wondering if this sounds like a video card problem.  Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thank you.

    Bob,
You are correct. Once upon a time I had the Canopus DVStorm with Premiere 6.x and it worked great (and a DVRaptor before that). Then came Premiere Pro and the problems that the DVStorm had were insurmountable so I dumped it and got the RTX-100 which was reputed to be about as good as the DVStorm was in the past. Was I disappointed! It just did not work reliably, hangs, BSOD's, unresponsivess and then when PR CS2 came out you effectively had to get the RTX.2, which was paramount to throwing the RTX.100 down the drain. It seemed to me that with every new version of CSx you needed to get a new Matrox card at extravagant prices for what it offered and still had to wait very long for decent drivers to come out. It just wasn't worth the effort anymore. And when you look here at problems that people experience, the common denominator is usually the Matrox card. So, yes, I am glad I got rid of it and found a very useful purpose for the card: a doorstopper, which must have been the intention of the engineers to start out.
About Win7: No, I did not have any doubts at all, but in my case I was lucky enough to have a high level network consultant with all kinds of certificates and an impressive experience to advise me and he juist plain told me: "You DON'T want Vista!!! GET WIN7!!! I have been using it for several RC's and it is a revelation." Now after installing and using it for some time, I can only agree.

  • Weird Video problem and kernel panic!

Okay, so last ngiht I was running tech tool maintenence, and I had repair on. So, it finished scanning my startup volume (I was on my eDrive) and then I shut down and restarted. Now, it tried to start from my startup volume (tiger 4.7, with latest updates) and it says you need to restart your computer (which means there is a kernel panic, am I right?) I try safe mode to no avail, I even reset the PMU and reset the PRAM (but I didnt hear the starup noise again). So, I put in my backup HD, and it starts up, but wait! Now the video is horribly wrong! It is all in TERRIBLE quality and in mostly only greys, I mean it looks like a 4 mb vram video card, there are very few pixels of color( there are some intermitedly) and there is terrible ghosting, and I can barely read anything. so, I checked my display, and universal access settings, and fooled around with those, and nothing happened. So, now I try and start from my eDriveand it start, but now it has the same horrible color problem as my other drive. Oh boy, this is a new computer, and I already have a kernel pnic, and a video problem, what can I do? Thanks for any help. Matthew. I have a sawtooth, a radeon 9200 flashed video card, and the latest tiger.

What if you tried running mplayer with the following command :
    mplayer -fs -zoom filename
As for the "too pixelish" problem well... you could try increasing the "nice" level (at least in VLC). For the other video players I don't know.

  • Cannot Connect to External Display with Mobility Radeon on Windows 10

Just upgraded to Windows 10 Professional 64-bit. Upon upgrading, I have completely lost the ability to connect my 5 year old Pavilion dm4 to an external display via HDMI.  Further investigation leads me to conclude that *only* the integrated Intel graphics chipset is functioning.  The Mobility Radeon 5000 series is completely non-functional, which is why the HDMI functionality is also gone. I've tried 3 solutions: 1) Re-installing the latest Mobility Radeon drivers provided by HP on my laptop's respective webpage.  These graphics drivers are for Windows 7, but at least they were specifically made for HP-style switchable graphics.  This solution failed: I get an error stating that the device is not working or the drivers need updating. 2) I installed the latest drivers for my Radeon directly from AMD's site using their autodetect hardware feature.  These drivers are compatible with Windows 10, but not for a switchable graphics configuration that seems to be required by my HP laptop. This solution also failed: when I try to switch to an external display, I get an external error message that says no external display can be found (no surprise, because the Radeon is not working). 3) I repeated both steps (1) and (2), only this time installing the drivers in Windows 7 compatibility mode.  Alas, in either case I could not get the drivers to install.  The installation in compatibility mode would permentantly hang a fraction of the way through the process and never finish. Does anyone know of other solutions?? I found potential solutions using a BIOS update for dv6 and dv7 systems, but I have neither of those. My system is dm4. System information: OS: Windows 10 Professional 64-bit (upgraded from Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit wi/ SP1).Product Name: HP Pavilion dm4t-1000 CTO Entertainment Notebook PCProduct Number: WD470AV

Ok, thought I'd chip in here as I've just got back from an appointment at the Apple Store Genius Bar to address the same problem with my April 2011 MacBook Pro. It's Mini Display Port has never worked when connecting to an HDMI tv set though I use it constantly with a Display Port compatitble third party external monitor. I've run OS X 6.8, 7 and 8.2 and it's had no effect, any set I connect to will not see my MBP.
They wheeled out an HDMI tv (it was a generic set and not a brand I'd heard of) to connect to, logged into my MPC with Apple's remote diagnostic tool and found no hardware or software issues.  They changed around the leads 3 times and none of them worked. One of the Genius then plugged what looked like a 13 inch 2012 Macbook into the the tv and on the second lead (one of 2 identical iWires taken from the shop display) it worked.
The Genius' take on it was that they'd never had anyone come into the store with this problem and that it's the first he'd heard of it. He also said that there is no mention of HDMI compatiblity in any of Apple's tech docs or manuals for my machine and that Apple have never claimed HDMI compatibilty with Display Port.
One hypothetical solution would be to completely replace the logic board but that wouldnt work as all we'd be doing is replacing a logic board that according to the Apple diagnostic tools is working perfectly for an identical one. Apparently Apple made no changes to the logic board for that computer.

  • Problems with ati radeon powersaving and vboxdrv

    Hi
I use an old Laptop with an ATI Radeon Mobility x300:
    $ lspci | grep -i vga
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc M22 [Mobility Radeon X300]
, Kernel 2.6.36.1 and the latest xorg/radeon packages.
To use the powersaving features, I have
    echo low > /sys/class/drm/card0/device/power_profile
in /etc/rc.local. This works as expected, but when I load the vbox-modules on startup, I get the following errors:
vboxdrv: Trying to deactivate the NMI watchdog permanently...
vboxdrv: Warning: 2.6.31+ kernel detected. Most likely the hardware performance
vboxdrv: counter framework which can generate NMIs is active. You have to prevent

vboxdrv: TSC mode is 'synchronous', kernel timer mode is 'normal'.
vboxdrv: Successfully loaded version 3.2.10 (interface 0x00140001).
AND when after that, when /etc/rc.local is executed:
Uhhuh. NMI received for unknown reason a0 on CPU 0. You have some hardware problem, likely on the PCI bus. Dazed and confused, but trying to continue
If I disable these modules on startup, everything is OK, so it seems that the vbox-driver has something to do with it.
Do I have to worry about this and is there a fix for this problem?

  • There's video problems with my Zen Vision:M already (M video cable related) Please help

    Some background...
System:Windows XP with Service Pack 2.
Player: Brand new Creative Zen Vision: M with no firmware updates.
My Zen Vision:M has a problem (besides the scratch and fingerprint attracting top surface): It won't play videos on a TV screen when the M Video Cable (also from Creative) is linked to it anymore. It's only been a few hours...
I had the cable already, and got the player today. I let the player charge to /4th of a battery while I was setting up all the software. I ran the software programs just to take a peek, only changing the name of my player (to my name). I used Winamp 5.3 to put a music track on the player to test it. After that, I hooked it up to the VCR in my room through the white and yellow A/V plugs in front. It worked just fine. It to the tv a little large, but I was okay with it.
Later on today, the new AC charger I ordered came in the mail (Player came through UPS, charger through USPS). I looked at my old charger (Creative Zen Touch) and realized it would work with the plug-in part of the sync unit at the bottom. I tested it for a minute and it did. I still took it out and tried the new one. This is where, I think, something happened. I had to press the sides to get the thing in, and it was hard to come out. Everything still fit just right, and nothing seemed to be wrong. I used my old charger as I added more of my music library. Now it was on to videos. I had to convert the first two test vids (they were .wmv), but they played on my player fine. I put a bigger .wmv file onto the player to see if it had to convert it, and it did. It still played on the player. When I go to hook it to the TV with the A/V cord again, there was nothing but a black screen with the occasional diagonal scan line. The sound is still there.
Besides quirks with the navigational system, the player is still great for music and video. Still, I needed no video capability, and one of the things that made the ZVM a buy for me was watching my vids on the big screen. I'd return this for a second try, but I want to know if this is a recurring issue with you guys and if there's something I can do to fix it before a return. Did I mess with a setting? Should I get new firmware? Did I do wrong using my old charger? If any of you have an answer, or need more info on my situation, please let me know.
And BTW, does anyone know of some better software for organizing files on the ZVM? I used Winamp for my Zen Touch and the music on my ZVM, but videos are another ballpark. I can't transfer a video from one folder to another folder (assuming both folders are on the ZVM). Not to mention the music I transferred using Winamp isn't even showing up in Windows Media Player. I think I need a different program altogether.

I have got a new Creative Zen Vision W and getting the same problem....when i attach to the tv then i am able to hear the audio content and the video does not show. Are we missing something ? or is it a problem with the player. Also the software provided with the Zen converts small .vob files to .wmv when ever the size is large it gives an error 'conversion?unsucessful'.Any body facing similar problems please help.

  • ITunes / Quicktime Video Problems With Windows VISTA

I took up Windows Vista as soon as it was available and initially had no problems with iTunes. Then later, video clips (those purchased from iTunes and those I had converted myself) started stuttering / freezing and eventually crashing iTunes and finally I lost audio as well.
Ayyway to cut a long story short, I have uninstalled / re-installed Vista now about eight times for problems with installing drivers for USB devices (I've finally solved all these problems). After the last install the first program I installed was iTunes, tried video and it worked flawlessly. Then, each time I added a hardware device or program I would restart Vista and retry iTunes video.
The first item I added was a USB thumb drive (as I had on all previous occasions to take advantage of Vista's 'Ready Boost'). The thumb drive is a 'Sony 2GB micro vault tiny', and meets the transfer speed requirements for 'Ready Boost', as soon as I had set the drive up for 'Ready Boost' I started having the same problems with iTunes video and Quicktime.
Removed the thumb drive, restarted iTunes and had flawless video playback again. Have tried this over and over with the same result.
So my question is, has anyone else had video playback problems with iTunes / Vista and found similar problems. Trying to tie down whether this is a compatability problem with 'Ready Boost' or the thumb drive used. I have also tried a Sandisk Titanium 2GB with the same result.
I am not sure exactly how 'Ready Boost' works, I thought it added memory that was used to cache page files to the thumb drive instead of to the HDD making a faster seek /access time? Which should make things faster. Another article I read today was talking about 'Ready Boost' being an affordable extension to RAM, in this case I could understand the problem as I would think the access to a USB 2.0 thumbdrive would be slower than that to RAM.
Any help appreciated, but I guess my bottom line is anytime I want to watch video on iTunes, I just pull the USB thumb drive .
PC Pentium 4   Other OS   Windows Vista Home Premium

I have the same stuttering video issues with iTunes and Vista. While I have used a thumb drive to transfer files (not Sony) I have not yet messed with Ready boost. I have seen several others complain about the video problem, perhaps they will chime in as well. Unfortunately, your solution doesn't work for me. I pretty much ignore iTunes, waiting for the next version (only god knows when it will be released).
I do have an external firewire drive connected, I'll disconnect later today and see if that has any affect.

  • Did you have video problems with Flash Player 10.2?

    Hello Flash Player community,
We're getting ready to release Flash Player 10.3 and we'd like to ask for your help and input.  If you encountered video related problems with the current version of Flash Player on sites like YouTube, we're especially interested to learn if the change's we've made to 10.3 help you.  We've tested this internally, and while we've seen a definite improvement, we really want to expand the scope of hardware and have those previously impacted try again.
Here's all you need to do:
    1. Install the latest video drivers for your system (see step 3 on this page for video driver links and instructions.)  This is important, as older drivers contain limitations and bugs that can impact hardware acceleration in Flash Player.  Flash Player works with all video cards, but it's possible hardware acceleration might not be fully supported on older hardware.
    2. Download and install the browser appropriate Flash Player 10.3 from labs.adobe.com.  If you encounter problems installing, please let us know.  When upgrade issues occur, it's recommended you run the Flash Player uninstaller (Win, Mac), then try installing again.
    3. Verify that the Flash setting "Enable hardware acceleration" is checked.
For instructions on finding this setting, please see step 1 of our Troubleshoot video playback issues article.   Ignore the instructions to uncheck this setting, we want hardware acceleration to be enabled (make sure “Enable hardware acceleration” is selected/checked.”)  If video still fails, please disable hardware acceleration and try again.
    4. Navigate to the following two video samples and verify that both video and audio play correctly:
    http://www.youtube.com/embed/tgbNymZ7vqY?wmode=direct

That's it!  We'd love to hear your success stories, especially if you were one of the ones that ran into problems when 10.2 was initially released!  However, we're equally interested in hearing if things don't work correctly.  Please let us know on this thread or send email to [email protected].  Please include a brief description of the problem and your hardware diagnostic file.

  • Weird display problem with iMac 24"

Hi guys, I have a very weird problem with my 24" iMac. For some reason it seems that after approx. 10 minutes using the Mac, whenever I keep a window on top of another window and then I minimize it, it keeps there like a ghost for another 5-10 seconds until it fades away slowly slowly.
Sometimes it's hard to see it however it's very evident when using a white window (such as Safari) on a dark background (not black).
I'm attaching an image split into 2 parts, the 2nd part is shot exactly after I minimised the browser. It clearly shows a faded ghost image on the grey Photoshop canvas.
    Here's the pic:

Has anyone ever experienced a problem similar to mine? or am I getting paranoid?
By the way, I bought this Mac, 5 months ago and I don't know whether this problem has been there from the beginning but I only noticed recently while cropping in Photoshop and still seeing the parts I removed away very faded.

den.thed it's not that I took it the wrong way or anything but shouldn't I be doing whatever I like with my iMac?
For the record that is a dark grey Photoshop canvas, which just happens to show the problem much more evidently.
The problem is that it happens on any background (even desktop) with any window, even Adium etc. Their ghost just stays there for a while... I use the iMac for design purposes and it's very annoying especially when cropping a picture and what I just cut out stays there very faded...
