  • Limited or no connectivity to wireless on XP using Boot Camp

Hi all, I need a little help!
I just installed Windows XP with SP2 on my Intel Mac using Boot Camp. Everything seemed fine until I tried to connect to my wireless network. I've installed and reinstalled all of the drivers, and I can see the driver for wireless networking, but every time I connect it tells me it has "limited or no connectivity." Any idea what to do here? Thanks!!

Denisimo posted this reply to me, and it worked!

I found this on one of the Macrumors forums on the web:
I had exactly the same situation as iBunny.
I got it working by changing the settings via Airport Utility from "WPA2 Personal" into "WPA/WPA2 Personal" and it worked. Btw, before this, I changed from channel 11 to 1, 1 to 2, 2 to 7 without success. I've kept it under channel 7 and just made the change mentioned above.
Also, under winXP, I went to Wireless Network Connection properties and filled up the preferred networks. Am not sure if this has anything to do with the problem at hand but I am now connected automatically.
The user was using a Macbook. Hope this helps.

I just changed from WEP to WPA/WPA2 Personal, and didn’t bother with the rest. That worked.

  • Limited or nor connectivity with PC

Intstalled Time capsule yesterday. Cant get my pc to get internet access with a direct cat 5e wired connection. I get ip address, DNS and Gateway address all look ok, but I cant ping out and the message over the network icons say limited or no connectivity. My hardware information on my network adaptor is set to autosynch and it syncs to Gigabit.
My iMac via wi-fi is fine. My iPhone is fine, even an old direct wired pc is fine.
When I plug my old router back into my dsl and wire my pc to it every thing works as it did.

Recently had a similar problem connecting a friend's PC to my network and thought I would post my fix in order to hopefully help others.
I noticed that everything worked fine when I disabled wireless security, so my problem was a security issue.
I re-enabled security on my router and copied down the first actual HEX key (key 1) instead of just using the password. Then, on the laptop with a Netgear wireless card, instead of selecting to type a password, I opted to use a network key and pasted the actual key, and it worked like a charm.
Maybe it has something to do with aftermarket network cards, but it solved the "network did not assign a network address" problem.
Hope I've helped and not given a useless answer.

  • Limited or no connectivity BS

I have looked at all the different posts regarding this problem, and I fail to find ANYONE who can actually solve this problem.
I do not have 2.4Ghz phones that could interfere with the router I have (model BEFW11S4).
My closest neighbor is about 150 yards away.
I am nowhere near a radar installation.
I can connect with this laptop to any other wireless network I have encountered.
Signal strength is excellent (the router is 6 feet from me)
I have only 2 wireless devices (laptops), and I have 2 wired devices (printer and WII) connected to it.
What will it take to resolve this? Switch to someone else's product (apparently Cisco does not care)

Tutorial was no help. These are all things that I had already tried or ruled out.
FYI, I am able to connect, sometimes. But tomorrow I could turn on the PC and get a Limited or no connectivity message. I have tried restarting my laptop at that time, which does not help. The only thing that helps is to power cycle the router.

  • WRT300N limited or no connectivity

I searched for this problem and tried the answer given. However, i still have the same problem. It stays on "aquiring network address" for a long time then just switches to the limited or no connectivity. Any ideas? i have a WRT300N and a WMP300N. I can connect to the network just fine, but i just cant connect to the internet. Latest firmware/drivers are being used as well.
    *edit*
Oh and if i wire directly into the router there is no problems at all. its strictly wireless.Message Edited by Kevo651 on 05-16-200701:38 AM

what ip address do you get when the computer is directly wired into the router ?? also , what is the internet ip address under the "status" tab on the router's web ui ..

  • WRT54G - Limited or no connectivity error

My wireless network had been working fine for about 2 months. About a week ago I started to experience an intermittent problem.  I will get an error message on the wireless network icon in the windows icon tray that I have "limited or no connectivity".  The signal strength remains "excellent" and the speed is 54.0 Mbs.  I will sometimes also get a message that there is an IP conflict on the network.  The computer that is wired to the router continues to have internet access.  The problem appears to affect only the wirelessly connected computer.
Powering down and then back up the entire network does not resolve the problem.  One night I went to bed with the error occurring, but the next morning things were working. It worked for a few hours, but when I returned in the evening the problem had returned.
I need help before I have to scrap another wireless router.

Are you using any fixed LAN IP addresses on your network.  If so, please list the the fixed LAN IP addresses that you are using, and also state your DHCP server range.
Also, are you running an open (unencrypted) wireless network?

  • Limited to no connectivity on linksys routers only.

I recently moved into a new house and bought a wireless router.
In my neighborhood there are two linksys wireless routers (including mine), both named differently, as well as a belkin wireless router.
When I try to connect to my router with my wireless connection, I receive the message "limited to no connectivity" yet I have full strength. However, I also have another computer in my household that is connected via ethernet cord which connects perfectly fine.
Considering this isn't working, for kicks I try to connect to my neighbors belkin connection.  Surprisingly this works perfectly fine.  After this I try connecting to another neighbors linksys router and I get the "limited to no connectivity" message yet again.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Im bad with the terminology, so the only thing I found in network connections was the local area connection as well as the wireless network connection.  The adapter is a totally different thing right?  The adapter is what im using to access the signal from my router, correct?  If this is right, im using a Linksys WUSB300N model.  It connects to the computer via USB and connects through its own program, rather than through windows.
[road2cycle] Yes, the wireless adapter is what you plug into your USB port.  From what you wrote, it appears that Windows recognizes it (wireless network connection).  If you open this and click the Support Tab what does it say?  When you connect to your neighbor's wireless network what does it say?
Also I forgot the username and password to change settings on the router by entering "192.168.1.1" into my url.
[road2cycle] The default is to leave the user name blank and the password is admin.  If you set the password during initialization and forgot it you'll have to reset the unit.
There are two ways to reset the Router’s
factory defaults. Either press and hold the Reset
Button for approximately five seconds, or restore
the defaults from Administration > Factory
Defaults in the Router’s web-based utility.
Finally, I didnt know if this would help anything.  But the linksys program I use to connect to the internet is showing this under link information:
    IP address: 169.254.44.20
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
    No Defualt Gateway
    No DNS1
[road2cycle] I use a cable modem, and I believe the Gateway and DNS server are automatically assigned / detected when I connect to the internet.  If you are able to access the internet, through one of your router's wired (RJ-45) ports then I don't think this is an issue.

  • WRT54G - limited or no connectivity - stalls at "aquiring network address"

Ok, so I decided to move my modem and router to a different location in the house and unplugged and re-set everything.  I went through the basic setup and finally got to the point where I can get internet when the pc is wired to the router.  Wireless, the pc is picking up the network fine but when it gets to "aquiring network address" it just stalls and eventually I get the message that I have limited or no connectivity.  When I righ click on the network connection icon and click "repair" connection it cannot verify network address.  My xbox 360 is also picking up the network but fine but will not connect.  Everything was working fine beforehand but I cannot for the life of me figure out what setting needs adjustment.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

FWIW, this is similar to a problem I just posted.  I got around the problem by selecting properties on the connection, and changing the settings under 'Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties' to use a specific IP address.
    These settings worked for me:
    IP 192.168.1.101
    Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway 192.168.1.1
    Preferred DNS server 192.168.1.1
    Alternate DNS server 192.168.1.2
I haven't yet found a solution to allow me to go back to obtaining an IP address automatically.  Did you?

  • BEFW11S4 Limited or no Connectivity. Cant Even Get On Internet.

    Hello everyone,
I'm having a problem i've just unboxed my Wireless router and i've tried to install it multiple times. I connect everything like it says, The Modem To The Router To the Computer, The lights are all there and flashing. I try to get onto the internet and it says limited or no connectivity. So i'm guessing from the router to the computer its not reading or maybe it is i dont know. I'm not sure what is going on and i'm very frustrated could anyone help me? I've tried the wizard multiple times to set it up and it wont work. I've tried typing the IP 192.168.1.1 after setting all the wires up and i cant even connect to that. I go into my network connections and all i have is LAN i dont have a Wireless one. Any help would be appreciated thank you.
P.S. When i first tried the setup wizard i was able to get pretty far and setting everything up and at the end it said something like IP Conflict or something and couldnt finish the wizard, That only happend once so i'm not sure what thats all about.

Do not run the CD...Connect the modem to the router on internet port and the computer to the router on ethernet port...reset the router for 1 minute, power cycle the router...Now,go to command prompt and check the ip address on the computer. If you getting the ip address 192.168.1.x and gateway as 192.168.1.1 then, try to ping the gateway...if you are getting 4 replies then, configure the router.

    1. Please make sure to install/reinstall Parallels Tools: remove any
entry of Parallels Tools from Add/Remove Programs, restart VM, install
Parallels Tools from Virtual machine menu
    2. Try switching network adapter’s settings in Virtual machine’s

  • Number of connection to this computer limited and all connections are in use right now

I have Lenovo ThinkPad T520 (i7, NVIDIA 4200TM) with dock station and two monitors. Sometimes when I close notebook and undock it from dock station. Then I cannot login to my notebook because of error "Number of connection to this computer limited and
all connections are in use right now". This is screenshot of my laptop  http://i.imgur.com/6MXnQKf.jpg
Laptop is not in domain and does not have remote desktop connections. It was just turned in sleep mode and late turned on.
This happen pretty often one from 10..20 times of undock.  It did not happen with Windows 7 before.

The network does not work properly after you resume the computer. This kind of issues are cuased by the network device driver. Download the latess Windows 8 driver from Lenovo website and install it.

  • WRT54G - Limited or no connectivity

I  have a WRT54G that was set up and working great for the past two weeks.
Last night I had problems connecting via my Laptop and today I cannot connect through my hardwired desktop.  On the desktop I get the message "Limited or no connectivity."
If I remove the router from the system and wire the desktop directly to the modem I regain Internet Access - so the problem has to be with the router, not the ISP.
I read some of the other posts and tried to access the router through the #1 port using the default IP of http://192.168.1.1 and using the password of admin.  If I leave the user name blank and input admin as the password I get a screen that indicates that I do not have authorization to enter.....
Any ideas?  Thanks in advance and have a great Thanksgiving.

Yes, I used the CD that came with the router.
During the installation the CD installed the Linksys Easy Link program.
When I tried to use the Easy Link program this morning to fix the problem it didn't seem to recognize the previous settiing and wanted me to start zt the beginning and name the network, etc.  I followed these steps with no success - the end result was a message indicating that the program did not support my router.
    Is it a hardware problem?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Router won't connect to internet, computer shows 'limited or no connectivity' message

Hi everyone, I could use some help. I have a Linksys WRT150N router that I bought a few years ago. It was working fine till about two days ago. I can't connect to the internet at all through the computer it's connected to or wirelessly on my laptop. The message 'limited or no connectivity' shows up on both computers. I tried resetting and unplugging the router several times, and I can't even access the router's settings using the IP address cause I need internet to do that. I know it's not my modem because when I connect it directly to the computer without the router, I can access the internet. So do I need a new router or is there something else I can do? Could my internet service provider have done something recenly so that it doesn't work with my router anymore? Please help, I seriously don't want to spend money on another router.

Who is your Internet Service Provider ?
If you are using cable connection then follow this link and if you are using DSL connection then follow this link.

  • Win XP Serv Pk 3 "Limited or no Connectivity" Error on Ethernet and Airport

    Hi,
I have a 2009 MacBook Pro (dual boot) with a fresh install of Windows XP, SP3 and Boot Camp drivers. But I can’t get it to work properly with any other computer on a network, connected via ethernet or wifi. I have a "Limited or no Connectivity” message at all times. Other computers on my network can connect to my MBP, but I can’t connect to them. The MBP is sending out hundreds of packets, but only receiving 1 or 2. It also fails when trying to establish an IP address with my network.
I am a long time mac user and unfamiliar with Windows networking, any help would be very much appreciated!
    Thanks!
    Christopher

OK... I'm... annoyed, to say the least.
I have just set up XP-SP3 under bootcamp. Installation went fine, it boots, I'm in Windoze now.
I can seem to get it to interface with my Airport Extreme basestation. (I had to connect my ethernet to get on-line here)
I get to a window that says "choose a wireless network". I pick my DJ Tempo's network. (It works just fine under OS 10.6.5.)
    I click "connect".
I get a window that says "The network 'DJ Tempo's Network' requires a network key (also called a WEP key or WPA key). A network key helps prevent unknown intruders from connecting to this network."
I put in the password for my Basestation, and click "connect".
I then get a window that says "The network password needs to be 40bits or 104bits depending on your network configuration. This can be entered as 5 or 13 ascii characters or 10 or 26 hex...
This is probably where my problem lies. My Basestation password is not 5 or 13 characters.
Have I told you enough to arrive at a conclusion?
ANY help will be most appreciated. It's a perfect example of why "I don't do Windoze".
