What all Operating System are Supported on Oracle VM Server for Sparc ?

hi,
Does Oracle VM Server for Sparc Support's Solaris OS of different version
or it also supports linux & windows OS also...
thnaks in advance....

The modern SPARC platform ( sun4v ) is locked in Solaris. No chances for open-source OS'es like Linux or *BSD.
This is because the important hardware documentation is closed ( known only to Sun / Oracle engineers ). For example:
  *  virtualization features of CPU are documented only at hypervisor-call level (part of Sun servers' firmware), and only partially.
  *  CPU errata are closed ( Some errata for old UltraSPARC III were opened during OpenSolaris project, but that's all).
  *  crypto features ( SPU and MAU ) are closed.

  • FAQ: Revel basics: What operating systems are supported by Revel?

Q:What operating systems are supported by Revel?
A: Adobe Revel is a Cloud based photo hosting service accessible via a free photo app for your Mac, iPad, and iPhone. You can download the Revel App on your iPhone and/or iPad using the same Adobe ID associated with your Photoshop.com account. To See Revel in action click here. See also "Working with Adobe Revel". With the app, you can upload, download, and share files, as well as edit photos.
Q: Can I access Revel through a web browser?
A: You can access web version of Revel at www.adoberevel.com. The web version of Revel includes almost all the features of Revel EXCEPT the ability to edit your photos for Mac and Windows Android users you can download Revel Importer. Revel Importer is not a full version of Revel but it does give you a way to import the photos on your Android phone into your Revel photo library.
Q: What are the differences between the Revel apps for different devices and platforms?
A: The key differences are as follows:
iPhone, iPad and Mac — Access, organize, edit, and share your photos on all your iOS devices, anywhere you are.
Web — Upload, access, and view your photos via your web browser.
    Revel Importer for Android

Just to avoid confusion - during provisioning, the phone is downloading a configuration from remote server. Phone is client. Provisioning process require a server (HTTP or FTP or TFTP) running somewhere.
You are speaking about browser, not server, so it seems you are speaking about manual configuration of phone, not the provisioning. Even in the case you are speaking about server, you speaking about upgrade of OS, not the provisioning (HTTP/FTP/TFTP) server software. On the other side, you are speaking about "initial profile downloads from Windows 7" asking about browser versions. I'm confused. Can you explain what are you trying to do in more details ?
Something like: "I did A, expecting B as result but C happened".
Debug/log from phone device and/or catched communication between browser and phone and/or phone and provisioning server may help to analyze the problem.

  • Oracle VM Server for SPARC support san

    hello all
Oracle VM Server for SPARC SANdoes not support it?  a server pool does not support the use of san quorum,or storage Repository does not support of ocfs2 file system format?

Thanks Marcel.  Sorry for the delayed reply as I was away.  Yes, I did mean the control domain, but I also worried that NFS mount on NetApp may not work for LDOMs, as I read somewhere that Solaris does not support containers on NFS.  I am a bit puzzled over here, as this means we may have to go for iSCSI route for all the VMs.  iSCSI is untested in our Solaris environment, although heavily used on other things on NetApps.  We also don't have any options but to use NetApps, as NetApps are being used in our two datacentres and it would be ideal for DR scenario.

  • Oracle VM Server for Sparc

I am going ahead with the Oracle VM server for Sparc in the next 6 weeks.  Just one question I want to be sure of - do I put the OS of the base machine in the NetApp and NFS mount it or the base machine OS on local disk  and all the LDOMs OS on NFS mounted on NetApp.  I want to create a pool of two machines one with  2 T5-2  servers in it and another 4 T5-220 servers in it.  My intention is to move LDOMS from one machine to the other within a pool, depending on the load.

  • Oracle VM Server for SPARC - network multipathing architecture question

This is a general architecture question about how to best setup network multipathing
I am reading the "Oracle VM Server for SPARC 2.2 Administration Guide" but I can't find what I am looking for.
From reading the document is appears it is possible to:
    (a) Configure IPMP in the Service Domain (pg. 155)
    - This protects against link level failure but won't protect against the failure of an entire Service LDOM?
    (b) Configure IPMP in the Guest Domain (pg. 154)
    - This will protect against Service LDOM failure but moves the complexity to the Guest Domain
    - This means the there are two (2) VNICs in the guest though?
In AIX, "Shared Ethernet Adapter (SEA) Failover" it presents a single NIC to the guest but can tolerate failure of a single VIOS (~Service LDOM) as well as link level failure in each VIO Server.
    https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/mydeveloperworks/blogs/aixpert/entry/shared_ethernet_adapter_sea_failover_with_load_balancing198?lang=en
Is there not a way to do something similar in Oracle VM Server for SPARC that provides the following:
    (1) Two (2) Service Domains
    (2) Network Redundancy within the Service Domain
    (3) Service Domain Redundancy
    (4) Simplify the Guest Domain (ie single virtual NIC) with no IPMP in the Guest
Virtual Disk Multipathing appears to work as one would expect (at least according the the documentation, pg. 120). I don't need to setup mpxio in the guest. So I'm not sure why I would need to setup IPMP in the guest.

    Hi,
there's link-based and probe-based IPMP. We use link-based IPMP (in the primary domain and in the guest LDOMs).
For the guest LDOMs you have to set the phys-state linkprop on the vnets if you want to use link-based IPMP:
    ldm set-vnet linkprop=phys-state vnetX ldom-name
If you want to use IPMP with vsw interfaces in the primary domain, you have to set the phys-state linkprop in the vswitch:
    ldm set-vswitch linkprop=phys-state net-dev=<phys_iface_e.g._igb0> <vswitch-name>
    Bye,
    Alexander.

S11 networking has "vanity naming" enabled by default (so things are named net0, net1, etc) - if you run 'dladm show-phys' you should be able to work out which one is from the vsw device.
Note: unlike on S10, with S11 you don't need to plumb the vsw in order to get connectivity between the guests and the control domain.
    This might also help: https://blogs.oracle.com/raghuram/entry/ldoms_networking_in_solaris_11

  • Oracle VM Server for SPARC 2.1 - cannot config vsw0 in Solaris 11

  • Oracle VM Server for SPARC Management Platforms

Upon doing some nominal research, I see that the Oracle VM for x86 platform is significantly more robust (at least at first glance) with regards to migrations/interface/etc. Where is the equivalent of Oracle VM Manager for SPARC? Is the Oracle Enterprise Manager with Virtualization Managment pack the tool that most people are using? Our virtualization offering, centers around the market share leader with regards to x86, at least at current. We would like to boost our product line with a similar service built on SPARC but it seems as if the product is too young to do that? I'm hoping that I'm wrong and just haven't found the right documentation. I'm also trying to get an appointment set up with the sales team to discuss.

It's true there does seem to be a wide gap in the UI aspect of Oracle VM for SPARC vs. Oracle VM x86. Personally I like the UI for the x86 platform better than the OEM 11g with Ops Center plugin for LDoms. However, I believe both UIs lack some robustness. In our case, we currently do not use a UI (for many reasons, mainly bugs and lack of certain CLI functionality). In the SPARC arena, it is extremely simple to script everything for the Oracle VM SPARC product (including HA scenarios). Once we build out the infrastructure, almost everything we do (provisioning, reporting, decommissioning) is done via simple perl scripting which is the power of not having a UI. However, a better UI for Oracle VM for SPARC is desirable for managing multiple environments/groupings, etc..

  • HT4897 My Aliases are still on my iMac desktop but are no longer on my iPhone.  All operating systems are the current offerings.

I have i-OS8 on the phone and Yosemite in the Cloud and when I did this I still have the original 5 Aliases on the desktop, sending and receiving but I can no longer do it from the iPhone.  What Happened?
I can get my main mail account to work on the apple ID account and as a test I tried adding a new alias and that worked but all my old ones are not working.
One of the old aliases was pretty important to me, what can I do??

The only answer I have is not a pleasant one. Your photos are gone. There may be computer services that might be able to retrieve photos from a formatted drive (and they might not be able to retrieve the photos from the formatted drive). These services are usually quite expensive.
PSE has low res thumbnails. You could blow them up in the Organizer to single image view, and then do a screen capture to save these low-quality photos. You would have to do this one by one.
In the future, making backups is a very important step. If your burner isn't working, you need to get it fixed, or you need to get an external hard drive for backups. You are one of a large number of people who have written here that your photos are gone ... and for anyone else reading this far, don't let this happen to you.

  • Using Oracle VM server for SPARC 2.0 / LDOMs in production

    Hi All,
Just wanted to check if people are using LDOMs in production?
I am thinking of using a T3-2 server with 2 processors (total of 32 cores) to host 6 to 7 guests - web server, couple of application servers, Oracle Internet Directory and Siteminder guests. Similarly upto 12 or more guests for test and development.
Any feedback on whether it is a suitable config to be used in production?
Can you please share a high level idea of your deployment in production?
    Thanks,
    Ninad

I have two T5440 with LDOM 1.3. Each has Guest Domains on internal disks.
I am looking for ways to re-build this configuration, so Guest Domains can be moved to other host when required.
I can see how shared storage or multi-host exported LUNs can be used here. But, is there any documentation on this I can look at ?
Could you clarify how NFS was used to share root disk of Guest Domains ? Here is my understanding of how you did it. Please correct me if I am wrong.
    - NFS Server runs on a host other than your T6320. The shares it exports holds the underlying files that make up the VDSDEV device.
    - All T6320 hosts mount nfs shares.
    - Make sure any one domain is started only on one host.
    - Domain is moved to other host using migration tool.
Again, if you could direct me to any documentation would be very helpful.
    Thank you
    Arjun
