What Apple Firmware do I Need for my MacBook?

I'm trying to run bootcamp, but when I start the program I get a message:
"You must update your computer's Boot ROM firmware before using this assistant".
However, when I download the new firmware, my macbook rejects the firmware & says that my computer does not need this update....
BUT IT DOES! (I think)
I recently wiped my computer's harddrive & re-installed OS X & tried to start the downloads again, but I encounter the same problem.
Here are my specs:
Macbook
Intel Core Duo
Boot Rom Version: MB11.0061.B02
SMC Version: 1.4f12
Is this the newest update? Can it be? Why does my computer reject updates? Any suggestions?

Hi Sam K.
Did you try to proceed with Boot Camp installation, if you did, how it goes?
Maybe (I had my boot camp installed a long time ago so I forgot what happen) the window that said you should update the firmware is just a reminder only to do so using software update, and if it is not showing or macbook said it doesn't need it, then you are OK to proceed with Boot Camp installation.
Visit Boot Camp forum and asked other user that installing boot camp using other firmware version than the latest one.
Maybe B00 and B01 (from earlier macbook) are what need to be updated with B03, while B02 is similar to B03 but come as standard with later macbook, that is why software updater pass this update. (Just my crazy theory).
Good Luck.
ps: sometimes Apple makes differ name version on similar software or product. There are a couple during Mac OS 9 era and earlier.

The model 7,1 is actually the Mid 2010 MacBook and is the only MacBook with a Mini DisplayPort that sends audio along with the video, Here's some Mini DisplayPort to HDMI with audio adapters from Amazon.

  • HT1349 I have an iPad 1 what Apple accessory do I need to use a CF card to upload photos

I have an iPad 1which I have had for about 3 years and would like to load via a CF card my photos direct to the iPad . What apple accessory do I need to purchase to make this happen ?

You may be able to get a USB CF card reader and then use the CCK's (linked to above) USB port to conect the reader to transfer the photos.
You should also be able to do this directly form the Camera through the USB port on the CCK.
Note that there's not much power available from the iPad to power the reader or the camera, so you may need a powered USB hub in the middle to get them to work.

  • What is the type of cable do i need for a macbook white to connect to a hdmi cable?

what is the type of cable do i need for a macbook white to connect to a hdmi cable? This is quite a problem since macbook white is not in production anymore.

First we need to know which one of the 9 different models of MacBook you have. To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info (and then System Report if you’re running 10.7 Lion or 10.8 Mountain Lion). When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier and post it back here.
The Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody and the Late 2009 model 6,1 and Mid 2010 model 7,1 White Unibody have a Mini DisplayPort. The Early 2006 model 1,1 through Early 2008 model 4,1s plus the Early and Mid 2009 model 5,2s have Mini-DVI ports. Each would take a different adapter to connect with the TV.

  • How do I know what battery I need for my MacBook Pro?

Hello, Is there a way to find out what model the battery is that I need for my MacBook Pro without tearing it apart? I have the serial number and also the Hardware UUID, whatever that is. If I have to tear it apart I will, but I'm hoping to keep that to a minimum as I'm afraid to tempt fate!

skink - thanks for the kind words.
Depending on your model (check under the Apple menu, "About This Mac", "More Info...", "System Report..." and tell me your Model Identifier. Mine, for instance, says (under Hardware Overview):
    Hardware Overview:
    Model Name:    MacBook Pro
    Model Identifier:    MacBookPro8,2
Depending on your model, a 'good' number of cycles might be as low as 300 or as high as 1,000. But if the condition is "normal," as you say (and as mine reads) you really shouldn't have anything to worry about.
If it's a battery that needs to be replaced by an Apple tech, it's 'built-in,' meaning you can't just turn it over and change the battery (such was the case with my 2006 1,1 model and some models after that).
It's always good to keep an eye on battery health and to use some methods of keeping your CPU load at a minimum when using battery power. Viewing movies, whether in the DVD player or those that are on your computer, will really tax your CPU and result in lower battery life. To maximize your battery life, try to have as few apps open as possible when under battery power - particularly those that drain your CPU. You can keep and eye on this by keeping Activity Monitor, in your Utilities folder, open at all times. If you see a process that's taking 10+% of your CPU load, that's an app you should close or at least keep an eye on - my Firefox browser will sometime get in the 13% range, but I don't worry about that.
Battery use is, for me, primarily about Internet browsing and email. I keep open Firefox, Outlook, Activity Monitor, Word, Acrobat, Word, TextEdit, and a few other small apps and I generally get 7+ hours on battery time.
I would also suggest using two little utilities to keep an eye on battery usage - one is "Battery Health" available at the App Store free. The other is gfxCardStatus which will let you use discrete graphics, changing your GPU to the less intensive processor. It's available at http://codykrieger.com/gfxCardStatus and is "Mountain Lion ready" as of it's latest release.
Good luck - see how many more hours you can eke out of that battery before thinking about having it replaced. As much as I use mine, I know that I'm going to go over the 1,000 cycle mark before my AppleCare expires, so I know that I'm going to have to get it replaced. But for now, I'm getting the advertised hours and am quite happy.
    Regards,
    Clinton

What version of NeoOffice is needed for Yosemite?  I have NeoOffice version 3.3.  Will it run correctly on Yosemite?

According to RoaringApps compatibility table, it will.
Personally I gave up on NeoOffice a couple of version back on OS X and started using LibreOffice instead. I found it to be far superior to NeoOffice.

What charging adapters do I need for Finland and England

Bring the power adapter that you got with your phone - you just need to get an adapter for the plug into the wall. You don't need a converter.
Airports usually sell the adapters and stores that sell luggage often have them also.

What is the best antivirus software for a Macbook Pro...I recently received a message from Google that someone made an attempt to hack into my mail account and I needed to change my PW and verify myself as the user.  The message suggested that I run a virus scan to check for sny malware or other types of viruses.  I do not have any software for this and up until now have not had a problem....any help is appreciated.  I would like a simple but effective solution!

It's worth noting that if your Gmail has been hacked, it would likely have nothing to do with your MacBook.  Hacking web based email is fairly common and it doesn't require any access to your machine whatsoever.  In the same way that you can simply go to the Gmail webpage through any browser, any hacker can use the same method.  It doesn't mean your machine has been compromised in any way (and it has likely not been).  I have never received an email from Google of this nature.  I have received notifications when someone has attempted to create an account with my name in which they basically say that there is no action required if you're the rightful owner.

What plugins, software do I need for Wacom STU-300 signature pad to sign a pdf?

This isn't the correct forum for this topic, but I may be
    able to get you started...
The licensing restrictions on gathering form data from PDFs
is outlined in the EULA for Reader, I believe there is a limit of
500 copies, but I could be wrong ... you should look at the EULA to
    be sure.
Beyond that, try posting to the
    Acrobat
Forums or contacting a sales rep at Adobe, they may be able to
    advise you further.
