Layers are an essential part of Photoshop. With Layers you can separate pictures or design elements from each other, as if they are stacked on pieces of glass. With all elements separate, you can move or change them independent of each other.
Layers are used for many tasks, including improving your images' color or tone; merging two or more images in one Photoshop file; and creating Web designs and animations.

After creating the mask and applying adjustment, you can also adjust and change layer mask using selection tools or, the most common way, using brush tools.
To have a more accurate preview of what are you doing, Alt + click on the layer mask thumbnail to show the mask in the image area.
At this point, you will have a layer mask on your screen in large view, so it is easy to fine tune it, but you wont see how that affects your image.
To seean instant preview how changes on layer mask affects the adjustments, use New Window for (name of your image) from Window > Arrange.

To represent our Organization / Information in STRUCTURE (Structural way......)
BI 7.0 DATA SOURCES won't support hierarchy loading.
U have to use 3.x data source and info source to load it.

Tags - What are they and do I really need them?

I've come across an issue where our users are having delays tabbing between text fields (a good 10-20 pause). Reading from Designer help, I've learned that tags/tagging is where the delay lies (correct?) If I save my forms WITHOUT tags, will this cause fuctioning issues with the forms or any other unforseen problems? Also, is there a way to set the default when "saving as" to uncheck that tagging box? Need more direction before I start changing my forms.

The tags referred to in the "save as" box is a PDF facility called "structure tags". It's used to annotate the PDF with information about how the content inside is ordered. Its primary use is to allow a screen reader to read the text in the PDF in the correct order. Other uses include the ability to override the default tabbing sequence.
Do a search on "tags" in the Designer Help and have a look at "About Accessible Forms" and "Design tips for creating accessible PDF forms" before disabling tags. If you're not concerned about enabling people with disabilities to utilize your forms, then you can safely save without structure tagging. If you need your forms to be able to be filled in by the general public, you should leave the structure tags in.

Growl is a third party utiltiy for manipulating parts of the OS and displaying "notifications". It sounds like you once had it installed. To remove go here...

They appear as mounted DMG files.If you right click on them mdo they have an Eject entry?
Have you set the OS to Show All Files with a terminal command? If so take that off for now.
Look in your Home folder (Users/UserName) and then the Desktop subfolder under it. Do you see all these files/folders/drives?

You have a Puerto Rico address on your account ? From a quick search I've found one site from somebody in Puerto Rico that includes a screenshot for an app receipt showing tax of 7 cents added to a 99 cent purchase. Are you able to view the purchase history on the account that you've been using, and see what prices show on them (e.g. if the store's listed price or price plus tax) : Store > View Account menu option on a computer's iTunes, then 'see all' link next to the Purchase History section.

What are npFirefoxPlugin.dll and FirefoxCtype.dll and why do I need them?

My Norton 360 every now and then shows that these two .dll files have been automatically downloaded. I can find nothing on the internet about them but they are being downloaded into the - '…\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\hr3ejyyl.default\extensions\…' area.
Are they real mozilla files and do I need them?

I am sorry but I do not understand what 'in staged' means. I think you are referring to Norton's report, but I would not know where or how to find this.
I also did read some of the Google search results (and had conducted my own search prior to coming to this forum) but I cannot make sense of them because some say it is a toolbar but I do not have extra toolbars (to my knowledge). Other sites want me to download their software to search it out, which I will not do.
The fact that these files, and the conduitCommon folder all reside within the Mozilla folders tells me it is part of Firefox, but no one here has said it is definitely NOT a Firefox file.
I also previous to coming to this forum, did search in my installed programs with Revo Uninstaller and in Control Panel but I could see nothing unusual.
I think I will just uninstall Firefox, make sure all of that stuff is deleted and start over. What do you think?

When uploading, what are "previews" and why do they take so long?

After selecting photos from iPhoto library to upload and hitting upload all the photos were accessible in a reasonable amount of time.
However, then a message stated that "previews are uploading." I can see thumbnails and enlarge all my photos in Revel ..so what is a "Preview" file? Why do they take so long to upload? Is the Preview the same as a full-size file?
Also, of the 3,000 images I chose Revel excluded 72. (not dupes...they were separately counted). How do I know which ones were not selected? And WHY?

I am using a MacBook Pro, OSX 10.9.2. There are no RAW files and no xmp's. Corrupt files are possible.
I have noticed that today the "previews" finished uploading. And now the "originals" are beginning to uload. If 3,600 previews took almost 4 days to upload, i can expect 3,600 originals will take much longer. The internet speed is medium @ 1.5.
My iPhoto library has 12,000 photos and only a few videos. I don't think I will live long enough to try uploading a duplicate library via a web client at Adoberevel.com (laughing) I doubt that at this rate I'll be able to upload even half to Revel in the 1st 30 days.

What is Java and why do I need it, and is it safe yet?

It's my understanding Oracle has not put forth a true "fix" on the lack of security for Java. I don't really understand what Java is or why I need it, but what I don't want is something that allows cybercriminals a way into my computer.
I currently have Java disabled but strangely enough just today I received an alert that I had a Java update that I should download, (which I have not done as yet.)
Would appreciate any assistance.

You should always have the latest Java version installed (current is 7U45) even if you have disabled the Java plugin in Firefox or uninstall Java completely.
Note that current Firefox version will not enable the Java plugin.

.DS and Network....what are these and why wont they go away

Just recently two icons have popped up on my desk and they are Network and .DS. What can I do to get rid of them? They cant just be deleted. I dont know what to do.

Ringbacktones - what are they and how do you use them

I went to VCast tones to download some Ringtones and accidently bought a Ringbacktone.
I would like to know what the Ringbacktones are and how do you configure them to work on your phone.
Downloading Ringtones and setting them up for different users is easy. However, I don't see any way to download Ringbacktones or how to set them up for contacts.

You cannot upload your own ringback tones or make them. Ringback tones are stored to Verizon's servers. So you just cannot. You will have to buy one directly from Verizon if you want it

Routers: What Are Jumbo Frames and why do I need them?

Some routers' specs specifically mention that they handle jumbo frames (with a number like 9K). I have a network with 2 iphones, two ipads, 4 computers, two networked Blu-Ray players, and 3 computers, all of which are operating simultaneously a lot of the time.
Some other companies seem to be using the fact that they support jumbo frames as part of their selling points. How do they help?
I asked Cisco Chat support about the RVS4000 and whether it supported them on both the WAN and the LAN. They said not on the WAN. They also said "

I don't see anything that actually says jumbo frames but I believe you can put in a value.....

I'm not sure whether this router supports jumbo frames or not. I have a short list of wired gigabit routers that I'm considering for purchase and the RVS4000 is on the list.
I need to learn more about this topic so any help or pointers to stuff to read would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much for the info. I read virtually all of it. The Jumbo Frames thing sounds very tricky - and possibly detrimental. I'll have to see if Time Warner Roadrunner supports them and at what sizes. Other than for really big file transfers between machines on my network (which I don't do that often) it sounds like jumbo frames isn't going to do much for me.
It also looks like the RVS4000 is not what I want. The smallnetbuilder review was a very useful one-although it's 4 yrs old, it's still likely mostly valid.
I do some gaming at times and it sounded like the adjusting of frame sizes until all the devices in the path are the same can cause unacceptable latency. Now it seems that no matter which gigabit router I choose, I need to be sure I get one where I can disable the major frames process, and maybe enable it when I want to do hard drive backups across the network. Welcome to the gigabit ethernet world I guess.

It also sounds like it's more complex to set up than I would like to tackle. I'm a retired electrical engineer but definitely not a skilled IT person, so plug and play simplicity is important. I understand just enough to get in trouble.

What are .frameworks, and why are they freezing my computer?? Help!

It seems as though every time I open an audio program (Garage Band mainly), a folder entitled CoreMIDIserver.framework pops up on my dock, bounces for a bit, and then proceeds to freeze my computer. I have to force quit it every time. Frameworks are located in System-Library-Frameworks. I looked them up online and it wasn't very helpful.
What can I do to fix this? Why does it keep popping up? Can I delete it, or would that potentially cause more problems?
I really really REALLY need to use pro audio and the fact that it's not working is killing me. Any help is much appreciated!

I had a couple of problems with other frameworks.
I used Pacifist to "Update Prebinding" for entire system.
It cleared up my framework console errors among other things.

Apple Push - What is it and why do I need it?

I have recently noticed a new "Apple Push" program in my processes that seems to start with startup on my Windows Vista SP2 machine with iTunes 10.5.3.3 installed. The only Apple products I use are iTunes/Quicktime with my 4th Gen iPod Nano so this program could have only stemmed from iTunes. A quick Google search and speed-read of a Wikipedia entry tells me it is related to the Apple Push Notification Service (APNS) for Apple devices.
What I want to know is what does it do and do I need it? I do not currently own an iPhone or any Apple device that receives notifications, so if all it does is push notifications to devices, do I really need it to run on startup and continue on in the background all the time? Can I disable it (at least while I don't own any iOS devices)? Or does it do something else I am unaware of that I need it for?
Any advice would be appreciated
