Hi Gurus,
Now I am placed from a support project from BW (CRM) implementation project(all are generic extractions).
& I am also new to implementation project.
what are the neccessary steps to be taken when we are implementing BW for CRM.
Gurus please clarify my doubts.
1. what are the steps in implementation project in detail(as a developer).
2. what are the sizes of the cubes,ODS & How to decide them.
3. what are the neccessary steps for Master data & Transaction data.
4.How to make the functional specifications for Infoobjects,cubes,ODS,Remote cubes,Multiproviders.
5.can we change to delta loads to full loads if yes what happens to existing data.
6.How flat file extraction used in the case of crm& how to do ascii format.
7.What are the steps to be taken when we are creating Queries & Reports in BW CRM.

1. what are the steps in implementation project in detail(as a developer).
U have to basically to the techinal design after understnading the functional designs and implemnet the same( creating infoobjects, datatargets, datasources, queries etc.). Then u have to load data and do the unit testing on the same.
2. what are the sizes of the cubes,ODS & How to decide them.
Completely the business reqmnet and the data that the client wants to load.
3. what are the neccessary steps for Master data & Transaction data.
U have to understand ur master data and transaction data on the basis of whch u have create ur infoobjects and load data in them and finally in the datatarget.
4. can we change to delta loads to full loads if yes what happens to existing data.
Sure u can do that by choosing Full update in the infopkg. It will just load the complete data instead of changed records.

Try to have a clear understanding of requirements and find the best solution in SAP. Keep as much as possible everything standard and based on SAP best practices.
In PA look for a comprehensive enterprise structure. It's base for everything.
DON"T do anything through development(ABAP code) as much as possible specially in PT and PY. Try to do claculation by PCRs and Schema.

Responsibilities for a support project depends on Project.
But in general u have to Monitor SXMB_MONI, SMQ2, SMQ1 & RBW for Error Message.If there is any error u have to find the reason of error.
Then either u can resend it or u have to cancel it.
In IDOC scenarios most of the time Error comes bcoz IDOC comes with blank values for required Fileds & then Mapping fails........... in such cases u have to cancel that message & tell R3 ppl to resend the IDOC.
Then some times messages get stuck in queuesu have to resend them.

I have created ESS roles. But need to find for MSS.
I am able to see the PERNR in ESS on portal which created in R/3.
I need to get my staff on portal.
What config is required for this.

BW/BI is the information backbone engine for SAP and the mySAP landscape. Traditional R/3 reporting does a good job of generating tactical (operational reports). But in the past few years SAP has growingly introduced the business information warehouse as the defacto reporting framework for the mySAP suite of solutions. Some reasons for introducing SAP BW:
a) An information warehouse that enables analytical reporting
b) In a typical SAP user community more than 70% of the users would be "read-only" or reporting users. It is unnecessary to provide SAP transaction system reporting to the 70%.
c) Ability to create reports on the fly providing much more flexibility to information insight.
BW is clearly the fastest growing SAP technology in terms of user adoption. In the last few years alone, over 3000 installations of BW have been reported. SAP has thrown in a very creative licensing strategy that provides attractive incentives to migrate to mySAP BW.

1. Already completed the basic configuraiton of SAP Solution Manager
2. You have set-up your solution, landscape and installed base (iBase) for the systems to be integrated
3. you have setup business partners for the users (or at least 1)
4. satellite systems are at the minimum support package level required (note 907768)
5. connections are available to the satelite systems
6. CTS+ if you wish to control non ABAP change requests through ChaRM -

I wanted to quickly clarify on the integration between TestStand and LabVIEW Projects.
As Jeff mentioned, some of the big benefits of using LabVIEW Projects is to organize code and to namespace them.
For instance if you had a project called "Power Supply" that housed all your power supply code and had a VI in that called "Initialize", and another project called "Temperature Chamber" that also had a VI called "Initialize", both these VIs are namespaced by the project, so there is no longer confusion about which "Initialize" VI is being used.
Now from a TestStand point of view, in prior version of TestStand, we lost some of this benefit because TestStand did not know about TestStand projects and called VIs simply as un-namespaced VIs. However, in TestStand 2010 (released last year, free eval available at ni.com/teststand), we added the ability to (optionally) call VIs within the context of their projects. This means that:
VIs are now namespaced by their project, even when called from TestStand
VIs can use project specific constructs like NI-DAQmx tasks and conditional compilation settings
Note: When creating deployments, the VIs maintain their projects and namespacing, so this benefit holds true for deployments as well.
Additionally, someone had mentioned looking into using lvlibs to namespace your VIs for deployment. Two comments:
With TestStand 2010, this is no longer neccessary since the project itself namespaces the VIs
You might also want to look into LabVIEW Packed Project Libraries, which combined several VIs into a single file. Think of it as a DLL specific to LabVIEW that is as easy to call as normal LabVIEW VIs. TestStand 2010 can call VIs that are exposed by PPLs. In addition, the deployment utility can automatically pack your VIs into PPLs for deployment.

There is no limit to explore in MDG. As a functional consultant you are responsible for -
1. Defining scope of MDG
2. Set up governance process - Workflow
3. Configuration - MDG (Activate services - functions / role set up / Data modelling / process modelling / replication set up ) - You have to involve in each of these activities with technical. You can also do it on your own.
4. Testing - end to end testing and training
5. Cut over activities - data load etc
In these areas, you have to contribute 100% and work with entire team (tech) for set up.
As mention, you can explore a lot in MDG.
