Rosario, don't feel bad -- English is my only language, and those acronyms give me trouble sometimes, too. The quickest and easiest way to find out what they mean is to go to google.com and type in the letters. That is what I do.

  • What are the types of routines

    hi experts
can some one give me clear idea on what are the types of routine we use in sap bi
    with scenarios?
    what is CMC?

    Hi,
In BI 7.0 we have the following types of routines.
    1. Start Routine.
    2. End Routine.
    3. Expert Routine.
This routines can be used in the complex scenarios and to improve the performance of the loading time.
I am elaborating the routine in details here.
    1. Start Routine : whenever you create a start routine, the system will automatically give you some predefined data declaration like structure of the type of your source. In start routine you can declare a local data declaration and Global data declaration also. I will give one example.
Suppose you are creating Start routine for transformation from Datasource to DSO. Then when you create start routine the System will provide you a structure of your datasource. By using this structure it will also define an internal table which will be used as changing parameter of a method of a class. It is this changing parameter where you have to do all sorts of manipulation. The changing parameter is both export as well as import parameter. This changing parameter will contain data in the package wise.
In start routine you can also read some database table and store that data into an internal table and this internal table data can then be read in the field level routine. In this case it acts as a substitute of master data look up in the field level transformation.
    2. End routine : The end routine is also same as start routine, the only difference is that here the system will provide you with a structure of the target not the source. and rest is all same as start routine.
    3. Expert routine : This is the strongest and most complex of all routines. This allows you to design the entire data flow of the transformation. If you create an Expert routine the system will automatically delete all the field level mapping, Start routine and end routine. You also have to take care of the error handling and monitoring
    assign points if it helps

what is the differences in format options available for partition?

Select the drive in Disk Utility, click on the Erase or Partition tab, select the Format type: dropdown menu that will list your format options. For OS X the only option you should use is Mac OS Extended, Journaled. This is the standard format for OS X drives.
Then there are options for Windows - MSDOS (standard FAT format) or ExFAT (an advanced FAT system with most of the characteristics of NTFS.) OS X can read and write with either filesystem. NTFS is only readable, not writeable, by OS X.

  • What are the standard bex analyzer reports available?

    hi all
what are all the std reports available for fico? sd and mm?
    thanxs in advance
    regds
    hari

    Hi,
This is the best way...and the simplest way....since it is a big question....just go Business content tab in RSA1 and there go to "query elements" option and cick on the option "select objects" this will give you all the standata BW queris based on all the BC cubes and it will not show self developed queries in you system.
So fo MM reports go to...Infoarea "Supply Chain Management"-> "Inventory Management"....here you will see all the cubes related to MM and the reports nased on that.
for FICO go to Infoarea FMCO Financial management and controlling.........
Similarly you can find for SD.
If you want to find the detailed information about all the queries .....you will have to search the help.sap.com witth the same name of the cubes and you will get various links explaining that.
    Thanks

  • What are the network requirements with respect to latency in Forms?

Our company is a global provider of online sourcing, procurement and collaboration solutions and services to Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) projects and companies.
We operate three Internet trading portals with 1000+ buyers & supplier companies around the world.
    The application is:
    - based on Forms 9.0.2
    - use SUN J2SE 1.4.2_0X on the client side
    - runs on the public Internet using SSL
    - hosted in Norway
Some companies reports about bad response times and the users claims that our application runs slow. The application do not run slowly, it is very responsive - however it requires a good network connection. Upon request from our customer base I need to know what is the requirements for the network in order to achive an acceptable user experience?:
    - Maximum lantency
    - Minimum bandwith
What where the design requirements Oracle set forth when developing Forms?
There can be a lot of "latency" generating network equipment in the path between the user and our server farm: switches, routers, proxy servers, chaching servers, firewalls, packet shapers, QoS, etc. One customer have all of these goodies and our users in that company do not have fun with the Forms application! However, they do not belive that there is something wrong with the network because normal HTML based sites works OK!
In order to help these customers I need (URGENTLY) to know what the network requirments are?

Its difficult to answer since the limits on latency will be governed by the user expectiation....
For example, a financail trading application which has fast data entry may see a latency of .7 second as not acceptable but this would be fine for an HR application.
The thing is that a user action, such as navigation between fields, wil generate a round trip to the application server to check for triggers (regardless if there is a trigger to file or not). Its this behaviour that gives Forms is very rich productive interface.
To compare with HTML is not reasonable since HTML can't do all these things like instant validation, masterdetail coordication, scrolling etc that Forms can do...
Its like complaining that your Sports car uses more petrol that your 50cc moped!!! ;o) It uses more petrol because its doing so much more.... Ok, I digress but you get the idea.
Forms will require a certain level of network performance. the figures for that performance will depend on user expectation/scenarios, the type of application and the way it is written (a badly written Forms application can still run slow even on a fast network).
Using network tools you can work out the latency (ping) from client to server. If this result comes out a figure which is not acceptable then no amount of tweeking of Forms will get it to run faster...You either need to upgrade the network to improve this; or change the style of application (e.g. to and HTML application) which will only ping the server on a POST/GET request but you lose a huge amount of functionality...and you need to ask your end users if they can live with that.
    Hope that helps.

  • What are the risk involved in Database Migration from Oracle 7 to oracle10G

    HI,
As a business requirement me are need to migrate our current production database (Oracle 7.3.4) to Oracle 10G R2.
I need to understand the Risk involved in doing so and corrective action required.
Your small input is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Vijay

As a business requirement me are need to migrate our current production database (Oracle 7.3.4) to Oracle 10G R2.
    There is no risk.
but you can't upgrade directly from 7 to 10g.
you need to upgrade first 7 to 9 then 9 to 10g ( i would recommend to go with 11g)
    Or
If database size is small the best is EXPORT /IMPORT. easy fast safe.
http://tahiti.oracle.com ===check the upgrade guide for more details.
You need to test the completely upgrade process on TEST eviourment before doing anything in production.
becuase a lots of changes between two database version.
    1. You may be face "Performance" issue after upgrade. so need to check properly.

  • What are the main differences between 9 iAS and Oracle 8.1.7 ?

    1. They both provide Appach JServ to support JSP/Servlet application
    2. They both provide JVM 8i to support EJB 1.1.
    3. You can deploy JSP/Servlet application to JVM via mod_ose.

    5. Since 8.1.7, application server and database server were built into a package, why on 9i to separate them into two (or three) parts again? - what is the benefit for customers?
