What can I do? Trying to install cs4 indesign on on iMac without DVD drive.

I copied InDesign onto a USB stick from the CD. I want to install InDesign on my new iMac (I will soon ditch the computer that now has InDesign installed).
I have to install InDesign from a USB stick as the iMac has no DVD drive.
When I clicked on 'Setup' this message came up.
"Setup has encountered an error and cannot continue. Contact Adobe Customer Support for assistance."
There was no error number.
Is there any chance of my being able to actually talk to Customer Support to solve this problem?

It is not likely that customer support will support you in this due to it being an older product. What you should do instead of trying to use the USB stick is to download the installation files and install those. Then use the serial number from your DVD to activate the installation.

I thought 10.3 Panther came on Cds? But If you have a DVD version somehow, and another mac with a DVD Drive, and a firewire cable, you can do it! shutdown the iBook. Then connect the firewire cable from the DVD mac to the iBook. Turn on the iBook and hold down the "T" key. You will see a FireWire logo on the screen . Plug in the iBook Power Adapter if you havent already. Shutdown the DVD mac. Turn it on and insert the Panther DVD. Hold down the "C" key on the DVD mac. If the DVD boots, go to the next step. But If it doesnt boot, turn off the DVD mac and reboot while holding the "C" key. the DVD will boot. On the setup screen, chose the iBook Hard drive. Install to the iBook Hard drive and when done, the DVD mac will reboot using the iBook's hard drive. Shutdown the DVD mac and disconnect the cables. Restart the iBook and you will boot into Panther! You can purchase a FireWire cable at places like BestaBuy and CompUSA. I hope this helps!

How to resolve message "Installer database is corrupt" when trying to install CS4 on Win 8.1?

I purchased a disk set of CS4 a few years back and have recently purchased a new computer. When trying to install CS4 on the new computer, I received an error message saying "Installer database is corrupt. Please contact Adobe Customer support." Called "customer support" and after a VERY long time and three transfers, I was told "Too bad, we can't help you. Maybe download a new copy?" So I did. When trying to install the fresh download, I received the exact same error message: "Installer database is corrupt. Please contact Adobe Customer support." Yep. Nothing happens at all. Windows tries to execute the uninstaller, but I don't get any other screen and all activity stops for the MSI. I monitored it in Process Monitor and the MSI executable appears, but is quickly ended, like it couldn't find anything or something.
It's as if windows has a blank entry in Programs and Features, because it used to show the size of the Adobe application in the "Size" column. Now it's just blank. Link to screenshot below:

Note the install date. That's when I was able to successfully reinstall it. Now I can't even do that. I should also mention I tried Revo Uninstaller. It deleted one small registry key, but nothing changed.
By the way, is the CS cleaner supposed to ask for a disc in the drive when you run it? It refused to run unless I had one in it, so I used my install dvd.

What can prevent NI-DAQ from installing on a computer? I have been using Labview/NI-DAQ for 7 years and have never had this problem before. The s/w does not appear to be installed on machine but when I run the installation cd it does not install anything.Windows NT is the OS. Labview 6.1 and ni-daq 6.9.2 are the versions.

I was able to remedy problem by using windows explorer to view ni-daq cd and run the nidaq.msi in the nidaq dir. Going this route caused a user window to appear that allows you to remove all / repair etc. I selected the remove all option which then removed whatever had been installed on previous installation. I then went the usual route of control panel\settings\remove s/w to remove the MAX. I then went back and ran setup.exe in the nidaq cd root dir and everything installed properly. The key was the first step mentioned above. The control panel\settings\remove s/w display did not show ni-daq evidently due to prior improper installation which prevented uninstalling this way. The autorun feature of the ni-daq cd did not deal with the improper installation because it would simply say it successfully installed when it did not install any thing. The original installation that improperly installed the ni-daq was when I installed the labview full development system. Everything else installed correctly at that time except for ni-daq. Who Knows?

Well, let's hope that nothing was jiggled out of place when you were installing the new hard drive. Your optical drive may just be out of alignment or the disc you have is "dirty." Get a lint-free cloth and some rubbing alcohol, then clean the disc as thoroughly as you can starting from the center and working outward in a concentric circlular motion. See if that helps. In particular clean the inner portion well.
If this does not help, then you have a problem. You have opened the computer yourself. That action voids all support from Apple. If you take the computer in for service the store may refuse to service the computer. This is not related to your now expired warranty.

jdotmattinson is correct! I have the same issue.
It is a router/ISP issue. Tried the software update drop down for 10.7.4, failed. Tried to download 10.7.4 Combo Client update, invalid checksum. Tried to download 10.7.3 Combo client update, invalid checksum.
Went over to Win7 Dell laptop, downloaded 10.7.4 Combo update, transferred to MacMini via USB drive. Invalid checksum. WHICH led me to diagnose it wasn't my Mac, but Apple's servers or my ISP/Router.
Went to work, downloaded on XP, put on USB drive, brought it home, copied, installed just fine!
Did a hard factory reset on Motorola Surfboard SBG5560, invalid checksum again.
Going to buy a new router tonight and test it again with dowloading 10.7.4 Combo update. Will keep you posted to see if that fixes it.
Btw, if a new one doesn't fix it then it's my Comcast ISP service that is messing it up. Which is going to make me cry....check out this link... be afraid, be VERY afraid if this is the problem/solution.

Without a bootable backup/clone or a Time Machine backup of your previous Snow Leopard installation or a saved copy of Lion's install app, you'll have to upgrade your Leopard volume to Snow Leopard (10.6.6+) so you can waste another hour or more DLing the Lion thing again.

Snow Leopard requires an Intel-based Mac, so as Niel indicated your iMac G5 cannot run it. The last version of Mac OS X your iMac G5 can run is Mac OS X 10.5.8.
