What do I do if my iTunes can't recognize the internet connection?

I really need to restore my iPod and upgrade iTunes, but for some reason iTunes can't recognize my internet. I know the nternet is working, because everything else internet required works. IT's just iTunes that doesn't. It has always worked before, but I don't understand why it won't now. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? I'd really appreciate them. Thankyou.

Could you post your diagnostics for us please?
In iTunes, go "Help > Run Diagnostics". Uncheck the boxes other than Network connectivity tests, as per the following screenshot:
... and click "Next".
When you get through to the final screen:
... click the "Copy to Clipboard" button and paste the diagnostics into a reply here.

  • Can I tether the internet connection from a smartphone to my iPod?

    Hello everyone,
I own iPod Touch 4 with iOS 4.3.3 (8J2). I want my iPod be able to connect to the internet when WiFi broadcasting is not available around while I am on the go.
So my question is: Can I tether the internet connection from a smartphone to my iPod? With which smartphone or mobile OS other than iPhone/iOS?
I don't want to JB my iPod Touch.
I heard that smartphones with Android can tether the internet connection to iPod Touch, bu I am not sure, I searched the internet but couldn't find anything as I wanted.
    Thanks, regards.

I've got a (now considered ancient) Nokia N95 8 GB mobile, with the app JoikuSpot Light on it - has been working really well though I wouldn't suggest buying Nokia if you were going to buy a new mobile...if you happen to get your hands on an old-ish Nokia or Ericsson (Symbian platform) Joiku will do a good job of creating a wifi hotspot. • TS1814 ITunes can't access the internet for updates or restores?

I'm trying to restore my iPod but my iTunes isn't accessing the internet for it. When I tired to update it it was still unable to access the internet, it can still access the internet for previously purchased songs and for the iTunes store. I'm using Windows 8. I already tried Apple's support, but I can't find an answer, anyone know a fix?
I've already done everything that is on the generic support pages

I had the same problem and this is what I did. On a side note and just a disclaimer as this may not be your issue, but helped with mine. Several months ago, I noticed that my XBOX 360 was not connecting to the live service. I disregarded it at that time because I did not use the Xbox live service much. However, several days ago, I switched security on my wireless router (Belkin N1) and found that my Apple TV could not connect to the internet, but would connect to my local network via wireless. My iMac also would connect, but no internet. I reset my router to factory defaults and found that the Apple TV was pulling a 169.XXX IP address. I had DHCP enabled on the router and I suspect this may be part of the issue, but I manually assigned an IP address to the Apple TV of 192.XXX. I also assigned a manual IP address to my iMac. Now both connect successfully, but is odd how I had DHCP working on both ATV and iMac before and were working. I've tried the Apple TV via wireless and wired and had the same problem before assigning a manual IP address. I assigned a manual address to the XBOX and it now works. The XBOX was also pulling a 169 IP address.
Like I said before, this may be an issue with my router giving out or may be an issue with Mac products but I am not completely sure. I just know that manually assigning the IP address made both systems access the internet now.
Hope this helps and if anyone else has a solution, please post.
    Thanks

  • ITunes dosen't recognize the internet when I conect the IPhone 3GS

    Hi
I have a problem with Itunes, I have a new HP Pavilion dv7-1260us using vista. Every time I conect my new I phone 3GS that I got just a few days ago I can not register my phone or update my Itunes version because I got a message saying that I am not conected to the internet, but this is not true. I am totally conected with no problem but for some reason Itunes doesn't know that. What is incredible is that Itunes store works perfect and how is that possible if the Itunes said that I am not conected. Also is impossible for me to get the any album artwork, if I try I got a message saying that the Artwork could not be found (error -609). I told to apple support by phone and they recomend me to disable the antivirus. I did it and that din't work. Also try installing the Itunes again with the antivirus disable and nothing happens.
    Please help me with this.
    Thank you

Vista, it's gotta be Vista's fault!

  • ITunes will not recognize my internet connection

I purchased an IPhone and downloaded ITunes. It downloaded correctly (as far as I can tell) and will sync the IPhone, but... it will not register the IPhone because it says I have no internet connection. I am connected to the internet! Also, even though I created an App Store account (login), everytime I try to download and I enter my account info.. it says "Authorization failed. Please connect to ITunes". I'm lost cause I can't seem to connect to ITunes..

Problems connecting to the iTunes Store often stem from issues with the Windows firewall or a firewall in a router, a privacy filter (such as McAfee Internet Privacy Service or Norton Internet Security), an antivirus/antispyware utility, or a download accelerator. Start here:
iTunes for Windows: iTunes Store Connection Troubleshooting
iTunes for Windows: Connection Issues when using Internet Filters, Accelerators, or Firewalls
Tunes for Windows could not establish a secure connection to the iTunes Store
iTunes for Windows: Possible iTunes Store Errors
for some basic tips to start isolating the cause of the problem. What you may need to do is temporarily disable any such service and see if that fixes the problem. If so, then if it's a firewall/Internet filter that's causing the problem and you'll need to set the offending service to allow iTunes to connect to the iTunes Store.
    Hope this helps.

  • Itunes does not recognize my internet connection

    Hey everyone,
Recently I had to reinstall itunes, and since I reinstalled it the programme does not recognize when I'm connected to the internet.
As a result the ishop, CDDB Gracenote etc. simply do not work, as itunes claims that I am not connected to the internet (even though I am!).
I'm sure this is a relatively simple problem to fix...can anyone help me?
    Cheers people,
    Mark

I might have found a solution, that works for me with windows XP. First restart the computer and don't start up itunes. Open Norton Internet Security and click on Status and Settings. Then click on personal firewall and then click on Configure, and click on the Programs tab. Scroll through the list of programs until you have goten to Apple itunes. Change the interntet Access to Permit All. Once you have saved these settings start up itunes. That worked for me. Please tell me if this helps anyone.

  • ITunes can't find firefox internet connection

The iTunes program downloads and installs fine, but when I go to connect w/iTunes it can't find server. I checked the connection in my computer and it is fine. I disabled the firewall and nothing. Explorer is also in my computer, but it is not my default server.

Does your modem have a battery? - if it does then you have to unplug the modem, pull and replace the battery and plug it back in  - wait until it completly boots and then power-up the Express - if this doesn't work, what is the light on the Express doing? - and you should be able to check the Express by plugging the laptop into the ethernet port and opening the AU - it will tell you what errors are showing.

  • Help!- ipad was disconnected when updating software...now it won't recognize the ipad and can't complete a restore. It can't recognize the serial # or name,etc..

i was updating my ipad to the new ios software. the cable got disconnected just as it was completing the update. when it connected again it said i need to restore it. Once going thru the restore process, it said that Itunes can't recognize the ipad. one note, the ipad shows on my itunes as a "IPAD" and no name, serial #, etc...  The ipad has a symbol on it telling me to connect to itunes

A System Reset cures many ills.  It's easy, quick and harmless:
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.
A System Reset does not remove any apps, music, movies, etc. nor does it cause any settings to revert back to default.
Also, you might wish to download the iPad-2 User Guide.  Pay special attention to page 162.  Note that this Guide also applies to the iPad-1 with IOS 4.3 except for those functions that are not supported by the hardware.
    http://support.apple.com/manuals/#ipad
Finally,  the User Guide can be downloaded at no charge via iBooks and a less   comprehensive version of the Guide is included as a Safari bookmark.

I'd maybe try doing a search for Safari on your iPad first (swipe to the left to search). If it shows up in that search you can go to Settings > General > Reset and choose 'reset home screen layout' which will put it back where it would be by default.
    All else fails? Restore it.
