What do you do when you open iTunes and it doesn't respond?

Hi. What do you do when you open iTunes, but doesn't respond, eventhough you forcequit and open again?

You can't do much else besides pull the plug. If it causes further problems you should be able to restore as below:
Get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.
On the other hand you may be able to simply start the update again. If however the update continues to fail, you should try the restore routine above.

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in

    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

If you get to the part where it asks you to uninstall iTunes, be sure to uninstall iTunes and the other components in the order listed.

  • When I open itunes and try to go to store it does not open trouble shooting sayes I am not connected to internet. I am connected...

When I open itunes the store will not open nor will it let me sign in trouble shooting says I am not connected to internet ... I am connected.

This is the appropriate behavior.. Most email programs (browsers too) store attachments (or files) in a cache area. You then need to do a save as to more them to a different location. The plug-in is finding the pdf in the location determined by the email program, so that is the last place the plug-in used. It doesn’t have a different location to use.

  • An error message appears when i open itunes  and itunes closes. wat to do??

when i try to open itunes, the error message "Itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close" pops up and it doesn't show up on the screen. what sould i do to get itunes to work?

Okay ... that rules out a bunch of possibilities.
We could be looking at a damaged CoreFP.dll here. In that case, we might be able to get things working again by swapping out the dll. We'll take a few additional explicit precautions, just in case. probably best to print out a copy of these instructions, because at one point in proceedings you won't be able to use a web browser.
Download and save a fresh copy of the iTunes installer to your hard drive. (Don't run the install on line, and don't start the installation just yet.)
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Now head into your Add or Remove programs control panel. Uninstall iTunes.
Next, we'll remove leftover program files and folders.
In "My Computer", open Local Disk C: or whichever drive your program files are installed on.
    Open the "Program files" folder.
Right-click on the "iTunes" folder (if it still existts) and select "Delete".
    Open the "Common Files" folder.
    Open the "Apple" folder.
Right-click on the "CoreFP" folder (if it still exists) and select "Delete".
Empty your Recycle Bin and restart the PC.
After the PC restarts, do not open any applications. Disconnect from your network and/or the internet. Now switch off all your security software (firewall, antivirus, antispyware).
Now start an iTunes install by doubleclicking on the iTunesSetup.exe file you downloaded earlier.
Reenable all security software prior to reconnecting to the internet and/or your network.
Does the iTunes reinstall go through okay? If so, does your iTunes start launching properly again?

    Hello Hegsted60,
Sorry to hear that your iPad is currently not recognized by iTunes.  I found an article with steps you can take when you experience an issue like this.  I wasn't sure whether you were using a Windows or Mac computer, so I included the respective articles for each:

  • Fatal error when I open Itunes and Quick time.

    EventType : BEX P1 : QuickTimePlayer.exe P2 : 7.4.5.67 P3 : 47edaedf
    P4 : QuickTimePlayer.exe P5 : 7.4.5.67 P6 : 47edaedf P7 : 0000130d
    P8 : c0000409 P9 : 00000000
cant uninstall quick time gives fatal error, stems from same error when I try to open Itunes.

Checking on a possible cause of similar symptoms. Have you ever install an ACE or K-Lite Mega Codec pack, a copy of QT Alternative or QT Lite, or a copy of Storm Codec on that PC?
(Checking on this because those programs, and some others, can install "QuickTime" componentry on the PC that can break a copy of the QuickTime on the PC, and as a consequence break iTunes. The "fatal error" when attempting to uninstall QuickTime is often a symptom of that, too.)

  • I purchased moveis from my ipad through ituens.  They downloaded, but now I can't find them.  When I open itunes and click on movies I just get the movie library to buy movies.  If I click on Purchased it takes me to my.  Where are my purchased movies?

I purchased moves from my ipad through itunes.  They downloaded and I synched them to my computer. I cannot find them on my ipad.  I open itunes click on Movies and it takes me to the movie library to purchase more movies.  Where did my purchased movies go on my ipad?

They should have downloaded into the Videos app (iTunes on the iPad is just the iTunes store) :
If they aren't in there then have you got a film age rating set in Settings > General > Restrictions that is hiding them ?

Before you reinstall the Apple software, also remove iCloud vi Control Panel Remove programs. The reinstall the Apple programs

  • I can't open itunes.  It doesn't respond.  I am not technically savy.  Does anyone know how to make it work?

I haven't been able to use itunes for months.  I can't get itunes to open on my pc.  I recently got a new ipod and I really want to copy some music from cd's.  I've tried uninstalling/installing itunes, quicktime.  This shouldn't be this hard...should it?  I am far from technically savy and could really use some practical help.  Help!

    Hi Chelodina1,
Since you have already tried to reinstall and the behavior doesn't change, I would go through this article with several troubleshooting ideas for when you are not able to install iTunes:
Trouble installing iTunes or QuickTime for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1926
Specifically, I'd be sure to go through the section "Completely remove iTunes and related components" to make sure iTunes is completely gone before attempting to reinstall.

  • Can't open iTunes and Audio doesn't work

    Hi! I need help!
Everytime I try to open iTunes I get an Error message that says:
"The iTunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occured (-200)."
And once I started getting this error my audio stopped working. All my macbook pro does audio wise is play sound effects of what I do (move things to trash, delete things...etc.).
Anyone know what's going on here and what I can do to fix this problem?

Your iTunes issue should be posted to the iTunes forum area.
For your sound problems - Repair permissions & restart.

Open up GarageBand if installed then, open a program (optional).  Quit out of the GarageBand app.

  • I open iTunes and it won't respond!

I have a G5 desktop, I have no external devices connected to my iTunes but when I open the program the little magic wheel never stops spinning and Finder reports it as "not responding." I tried to install the updated iTunes and that was successful but the program still will not respond even after a re-start. Is there a way to reset the program without losing all my music?

I plugged in my iPod and let it spin for an hour and it seemed to resolve itself
