What does this mean? "The operation couldn't be completed. (NSURLErrorDomain error -1012.)"

I am trying to install updates but get this error...what does it mean?

The SSL certificate for swscan.apple.com has expired. You need to wait for Apple to get it renewed.

I found the answer by looking over towards the right on this page...to the More Like This section.
The answer is that this indicates a server overload with Apple's App Store server.  Give it some time and try again.

This error message has been coming up for several hours for people now. Searching the forum, people say it is a Apple Server problem.
Only thing to do is to be patient, and try again later.

  • What does this mean: "the backup was not performed because an error occurred while copying files to the backup disk?

Our time capsule isn't working...we keep getting the message: "The back up was not performed because an error occurred while copying files to the backup disk."

This means you are probably not running snow leopard as your profile shows.
What OS are you running?? Mavericks.. is the most likely as it has the most network bugs.
    See Pondini.
    http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html
C3 .. but the error might have nothing to do with the real problem.. ie bad networking.
If your MBP has ethernet have you tried turning off wireless and attempting the backup by ethernet??
No luck give me more info.

It appears Apple’s download servers are ‘overwhelmed’ today.  I couldn’t download the newest iTunes update or IOS 7 and there are a lot of discussions today about not being able to download. One poster said they had chatted with App Store support who confirmed the problem.
What updates? Here is a link for iTunes which worked for me.
    iiTunes 11.1.0

If you had Firefox save your Yahoo password, first try deleting that here:
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Options > Security > "Saved Passwords"
The "signed out" message seems to be related to how Yahoo authenticates you. Some users have reported that disabling automatic proxy detection solves the problem, and it also resolves an issue of getting logged out every few minutes, if you have ever experienced that.
    To make the change:
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the "Network" mini-tab, click the "Settings" button, then choose "No Proxy" and OK your way back out.
If your work connection requires you to use a proxy server, try the "Use system settings" option instead.
    Does that help?

  • Unable to sign in with AppleID - "The operation couldn't be completed (CSIdentityErrorDomain error - 11.)"

Unable to sign in with AppleID - "The operation couldn't be completed (CSIdentityErrorDomain error - 11.)"
Within the System Preferences, Users and Groups - when we attempt to sign into the notebook using any AppleID - we receive the following error message:
Unable to sign in with AppleID - "The operation couldn't be completed (CSIdentityErrorDomain error - 11.)"
We have a Macbook Pro, MAC OS X Lion 10.7
This occurs whilst using any AppleID - we have tried two separate accounts.
I have created a new user profile, with administrator access, same fault occurs.
We can log in to iTunes on the notebook, the AppleID account registers and works OK.
No related articles with common Google search results.
I'm hoping to avoid a re install of the operating system if possible.
    Many thanks,
    Tim

Has anyone else possibly heard of this particular error? I'm really hoping to seek some support suggestions for this as it is occurring to one of our top line managers. Much appreciated.

  • Trying to download pics form iphone4 and got this message The operation couldn't be completed. (com.apple.ImageCaptureCore error -9912.)

why cant i donwload my pics and videos with my iphone 4 using preview? It says
The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.apple.ImageCaptureCore error -9912.)

The com.apple.ImageCaptureCore error may be a system issue.  Try applying this updaters:
OS X Lion Update 10.7.5 (Client Combo)
OS X Lion 10.7.5 Supplemental Update
and then try again.  Also try reformatting the memory card with the camera, take some test shots and try importing those photos.  This is to rule out a card issue.

  • Time Machine and Iomega NAS - The operation couldn't be completed. Error 2

Hi - I sure hope someone is able to help?
I have just purchased an Iomega Storcenter IX2-200 4TB NAS device.
I have tried to use it as a TimeMachine device but when I select the TimeMachine disk from the preferences panel I receive the error 'The operation couldn’t be completed. (OSStatus error 2.)'
I have not created any users etc, the device is as it came out of the box. The TimeMachine disk automatically appeared in the Finder when I connected the IX2
Is there a 'special' userid/pw I should be using for the TimeMachine? When prompted for those details from the TM preferences I use admin/<password> and receive the above error - any other entry results in a message stating that the userid/password info is incorrect.
I don't want to return it because I see it as a useful device to back up my three Macs.
If anyone is able to help they will be my friend for life!!
    Kind regards,
    Dave.

The anwser is quite simple. Enter the Storcenter's configuration page en go to "settings", "Back up" and " Time Machine". When you configured the NAS correctly there is a + button roughly in the middle of the page.
Press this button and enter the name of the Mac and the ethernet/mac adress (this is the adress of the network adapter you use to connect to the network, something like aa.11.bb.22.cc.33, can be found on the advanced section of the networkadapter settings). Click "ok", log off and close the window. You can now configure time machine using the administrators name and password.
(sorry if the translation is a bit "foggy", I'm writing this with a Dutch version of the software...)

not be found.) And unable to download "Can'tinstall Windows Support Software because it is not current available from the Software Update server.

First try changing your network settings for the interface it uses and disable auto proxy setting.
It is a configuration issue. And yes it could all be "solved" with a simple 600MB direct download link in under 10 minutes.

  • HT1660 what does this mean: "the itunes library file cannot be saved.  you do not have enough access privileges for this operation"

HELP PLEASE!  What does "The itunes library file cannot be saved.  You do not have enough access privileges for this operation."

    Hi, DickmoAZ.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
This sounds like a permission issue most likely with the iTunes Media folder.  Here is an article that will help you troubleshoot this issue.
